Gave 1-Star Review for recent Extremely Poor Customer Service experience - Avoid This Location I've been a regular customer at this Brakes Plus for over a year and generally had good experiences--until my most recent visit. The service advisor, Bruce, was being Condescending and impatient right from the start while interacting with me. I came in for a standard Oil Change Plus package, which has always cost around $100-$150 (including the inspection, tire rotation, etc.). Instead, Bruce came back with a massive $2,700 estimate for a long list of "recommended" repairs and immediately started pressuring me hard to approve everything on the spot. When I asked for a printed copy of the estimate so I could get a second opinion (something any reasonable customer would do), he got visibly offended and made a scene in front of other customers. He sarcastically snapped, "Tell me please, I will give it to you"--like I was being difficult for simply wanting documentation of a multi-thousand-dollar quote. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary. This kind of childish, condescending attitude has no place in customer service. We're paying with our hard-earned money, not running a charity for the shop (and they're definitely not running one for us). Basic respect, clear explanations, and professionalism should be standard. Despite his terrible behavior, I still authorized about $550 worth of the recommended work because my car needed it. Had Bruce been patient, explained things calmly, and treated me like a valued customer instead of acting entitled, I likely would have gone ahead with the full $2,700 job. His attitude alone cost the shop a ton of potential revenue from me. I won't be back to this location. I'll take my business to another Brakes Plus there are 2 right within 5-8miles. Management needs to address this kind of behavior--retrain advisors like Bruce before they drive away more loyal customers. Very disappointing and frustrating. read more

Watch Out for Unwanted Upsells & Charges for Work Not Even Done Came in for a quick oil change. Ended up being sold on a "free alignment check," which led to an unsolicited alignment that I didn't ask for and a $300 quote for a battery I didn't need (that's 2-3x the price of the same battery elsewhere). I changed my mind on both battery and alignment before anything was approved -- or so I thought. A few minutes later, the rep (also the GM - Eric Smith) returned from the bay and told me they already did the alignment but would "discount" it since I hadn't okayed it. I ended up paying for an alignment that: * Was not authorized * Was either not done or supposedly "done" before they even told me it was needed * Attachments show before/after images both time-stamped 12:15 PM -- suspicious at best. Also I was not even there long enough for them to complete an alignment which takes 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Furthermore, they also used full synthetic oil without asking, then claimed it was "required" for my car. It isn't. And that $300 battery? I found identical replacements at less half the cost. Seemingly "friendly" staff, but very misleading service. Be careful, ask questions, document everything, ask for proof -- or better yet, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. read more

Got recommended by a neighbor of mine who did some work on his classic MG here. I called Brakes Plus this morning because my steering wheel was off by about 45 degrees and needed an alignment on my Land Rover. Other shops were either too busy or priced too high. Spoke with Bryan and asked about availability since their website was showing the next available appointment was 11:30am. He said if you come by now, we can get you done without waiting. Got my alignment done and they took care of my off-centered steering wheel. It was centered once again and they also made adjustments to the toe, camber and caster to spec. Overall they came in with the best price and have a $5 off coupon on their website. Definitely highly recommended as Prosper PD had their fleet of vehicles here. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me! read more

Don't go here as a woman. I took it in for an alignment check as per my regular mechanics request to see if other parts would need to be replaced first. They told me it would be about 8-9 hundred dollars for all these things. so I ask for the paper with it all to bring to my mechanic. He was genuinely pissed off reading it. None of the parts needed are bent or need to be replaced. Just an alignment and oil change. This is really disappointing that we're in 2025 and men still think they can take advantage. Ridiculous. Btw if you're needing a mechanic I suggest Jose at main oil and lube. Fantastic, honest guy. These guys, not so much. read more

Went to get an inspection done. Three people were sitting in the office on their phone. I was told it would be 45 minutes to an hour. They said it's first come first serve and can't put my name on a wait list for texts/calls. It is a poor process and the workers were happy to not have the extra business. read more

Went There on Saturday to the Prosper location at 8 AM, Anthony informed it will be an hour longer till 11 because the parts are coming even Dave said otherwise. I was done by 11 the engine light was gone and Eric the GM suggested to drive it at least 80 miles did that on that day. The next day the engine light came back on and it not passing inspection . I looked at the invoice they gave and to my surprise They used Remanufactured injectors which i was not aware of nor was i told. when i went back on Monday i told Eric about it he suggested they can put genuine parts if i wanted to and they wont charged me for any labor what a deal. They should leave it up to the customers what kind part they want installed; but unfortunately i did not have that options presented to me . From all the bad expereiences that i had thus far it looks this is the culture at the brakes Plus! Very sad every business want to make money i get it , but it needs to be conducted with Honesty and Integrity not the case here. read more

if I could give this less than one star, I would I took my truck to brakes +14 months ago got front rotors and rotors and brakes with lifetime warranty, which lasted all of 14 months 14 months later I'm at the shop with my where they proceeded to charge me another $500 to change pads and turn rotors that only lasted 14 monthsI would never take my car here or any car ever again if they're gonna use such shit parts they probably do that on purpose so you have to bring your car in every 14 months and pay them labor to replace it. read more

It is so refreshing nowadays in a world where we have people scamming and ripping people off to come across honest hard working people and businesses. Unfortunately for Brakes Plus Prosper this is not what I found here. I have a luxury vehicle, Porsche Panamera 4S, and I brought it in around 38,000 miles bc my brake wear sensor went off. They said they were familiar with this type of car and do work on them all the time. They recommended a new set of brakes and rotors in the front in the back. And I told them that I wanted original manufacturer parts. The total was around 2300- 2400 which was fine. They also told me that if I didn't replace the rotors it would squeak. Which that's not the reason why it would squeak. And even though they replaced or supposedly replaced them they still squeaked for the first 10 to 15,000 miles. Fast-forward a little over a year. I've only driven the car around 19,000 miles and my brake ware sensor comes on. I called them and they told me there's a warranty and to bring it in. I bring it in. I tell the gentleman at the front what's happening and he said oh yeah your brake should only last about 20,000 miles on a car like that. I proceeded to tell him that I looked up the OEM parts and it should last 40 to 70,000 miles depending on drive habits. And he said, yeah drive habits could make it go down to 20k miles.... And I told him well I have the same driving habits that I had for the first 40,000 miles. He proceeds to put my car up on the lift and tell me that my brakes are completely gone. He just so happens to have some aftermarket parts that someone did not come in to move forward with using. Feeling a little suspect, and not liking the fact that their first break job squeaked, and didn't last I decided to go get a second opinion at a true European car specialist. When I go to the European specialist they proceed to tell me that I do not need breaks at all. I have 60% life left on my break pads. Now remember when brakes plus installed all my parts, I asked for original manufacture parts. The gentleman at the European specialty store told me that they used some sort of sensor that so thick. He's never seen anything like it. And it's triggering way way way before I need new brakes. Gist of the story I was charged for all OEM parts. I was promised that my car would not squeak and they knew what they were doing. They did not. I went back to let them rectify the situation, and they not only lied to me they tried to swindle me into buying a whole new set of brakes and rotors. I would avoid this brakes plus at all cost. read more

Came in for a oil change and the free brake inspection and alignment. To no surprise they couldn't do the alignment due to a control arm being bad . Than they tell me that both my back caliper's are bad . And for the oil change . They didn't even change it . The oil sensor was never reset . I mark my oil filters with a sharpie . It was never changed . Never got a new oil sticker . Take it to a other shop and tell them the issues. You would think they would agree and want to charge me right ? No they inspected all of it and said everything was completely fine with the car . They were able to do the alignment with no issues and they said the oil never looked like it was changed ! They claimed the bushing were bad on the control arm which they weren't . Never got a refund for the control arm I bought and no refund on the oil change . JUST STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE . read more

I suspect foul play - or neglectful incompetence. Had brakes and rotors done. Was told I didn't need an alignment. Was told I had good tires. Brought it back because I left with a bad alignment. It's as though they messed it up. Was it on purpose? Was told I had a bad tire and the alignment of my vehicle was fine. Took the vehicle to a trusted tire shop. Tires checked out fine. As Brakes Plus originally said, my tires were good. Then they changed their story and said my tire was bad for an "unseen issue" "tread separation." This was found to be false by both Discount Tire AND the McDavid Honda dealership mechanics. Took the car to that dealership where they exposed the truth. The front right toe was pointed far out - appears to have been done on purpose or neglected- either way it's not okay. The dealership went on to confirm that the car needed an alignment and the tires are indeed good- still have half their life left. Sadly, we are left to infer based on the facts that the alignment was disturbed and bad information was communicated knowingly or unknowingly by Brakes Plus. I don't trust them anymore, and I suggest you don't either. Update: Please don't reply with a copy and pasted or auto message. Warning bait and switch con artist named Brian tried to rip me off. I was given a quote for suspension work priced at a labor charge of 549$. This came out to 4hrs labor @ 137hr. When I picked up my vehicle I was charged 660 for the same labor. I took this to corporate and spoke to Josh who did absolutely nothing about it. Don't bring your car to these a holes. They also charge a 300% markup on parts and use the absolute lowest quality. read more

I took my Dodge Ram into Breaks Plus in late January, or early February due to an issue I was having with the suspension. The issue was I was getting a Service Suspension error code and sometimes the truck would lift and sometimes it wouldn't. The location manager Brian advised it was the compressor/pump and this part was replaced at the agreed-upon amount. 2-3 weeks after the repairs were certified to be complete. I started to have the same problems which were intermittent raising and lifting along with the code that the suspension needed to be serviced. I took it back to Brakes Plus on February 15th. Brian then advised me I needed to replace an additional part that he didn't know was supposed to be replaced when changing the compressor/pump the first time. Due diligence should have been done to ensure that the root cause of the problem would be fixed with what he was suggesting on my initial visit. If the problem were more in-depth than that, those points should have been expressed before moving forward with the work. Additionally, if this misdiagnosis caused a catastrophic failure in my suspension, I could have been looking at additional damage or worse an injury. After the second new part was installed, I started to have the same issues again. Brian then advised that I take it to a dealership to have it inspected there, which is something he should have done or received advice on if he were not able to accurately identify the issue. Instead, I was tasked with this issue which is very poor customer service. The dealership advised that based on the codes the pump was still showing to be a problem. I was told to take it back to Breaks Plus by the Dodge dealership staff and at that time the pump was replaced again. I took the truck home and again two weeks later the same issues persisted. I took it back to the dealership and they stated that there was a misdiagnosis by Brakes Plus and that the reason the pump was still overheating was because one or all of the tanks had a leak which was causing the faulty pump code. read more

I had one lug bolt that was seized and in the process of trying to get it loose, broke a ratchet and ultimately stripped it. I called Discount Tires and they recommended that I go here, because Brakes Plus has the ability to retap/repair if a more invasive procedure needs to be done to get the bolt out. (They are owned by same company). Fast forward, I stopped by this morning, without appointment, they got me right in, and one of the mechanics was able to get it out for me and they did not even charge me! If and when I need something done I cannot get done myself, I will definitely be going back here. read more

Signs posted everywhere about enhanced safety measures, social distancing, etc. Employee walks in from garage to help me- not wearing a mask. Me (standing about 6 feet away from counter): 'could you please put a mask on?' Employee: 'nah, I'm good.' I turned around and walked out/back to my car. He chases me outside (still not wearing a mask) 'I can go it!' Me: ' it's obviously not important to you, so I'll go elsewhere'. I dropped my vehicle off just before 11 am and was told by the manger, Angelo, I would receive a call before any work was done. At 4:05 pm, I had not heard from the store so I called and was then put on hold for 11 minutes and then hung up. I called back and was asked to be placed on hold and said no, that wasn't okay because I was just on hold for 11 minutes. I gave the guy my information and he placed me on hold "to check the status." Note, I was supposed to be called with the status, not me call them. He comes back and tells me that they need to remove a belt to see if it's the compressor or not, but this would cost $105. I asked some questions but could never get a clear answer, he continues to just give me the run around. My concern was timing because at this point it was almost 4:30 pm, they close at 6. I asked the guy, "worst case scenario and it is the compressor, could this be fixed today," and received the response of "I don't know, we won't know if that's what it is until we look." Once again not answering my question. At that point, I told them I did not want any work done as I wouldn't have the time for this to roll into tomorrow. As I was receiving my key, he once again started telling me about the issue. I stopped him and let him know what the issue was. The real issue being their lack of respect for my time. I told him once again, I dropped my car off before 11 and didn't hear anything until I called. At this point, Angelo was apart of the conversation and I asked him the same thing I had been asking the other guy. Would this have been fixed today, he responded with "no, absolutely not." But it doesn't stop here... As I walked to my car, I noticed it was in the exact same spot I left it. I unlocked my door and noticed my charger was still laying in my seat (as I left it,) my odometer had not changed, my radio was just as loud as I left it, and my seat had not been moved. (Prior to my ride picking me up this morning, I watched two employees get into vehicles and adjust the seats almost immediately.) There is no way my car was even looked at by this place. No it didn't... twice while I was there heard a couple of quotes for brakes and rotors that were eye popping amounts. Glad I just got an inspection and out the door ASAP read more

I was there first ever customer when they opened just over 2 years ago and I was the first to give them a review. I left a 5 star review then but I am editing it to reflect how much their service has declined and is now terrible and I will never use them again. They charged me hundreds of dollars for work they didn't even perform which I will describe below. -I dropped my car off on a Friday night, was very upfront that I was leaving town in 9 days for several months for work and needed the repairs completed. -Repairs requested: the 1) headlight that was out, 2) the tail light that was cracked with water in it (I put blue painters tape over the crack), 3) an electrical issue that drained the 5 month old battery, and 4) to address an oil leak they already repaired 2 years previous. -Called me 24 hours later to ask me again what I needed done (facepalm) -3 days later, finally Got me a quote on Tuesday, expected them to give some sort of discount for the oil leak since it was the same repair they did that obviously didn't hold well. Nope $700 more for the same exact repair. After expressing that it was ridiculous, They agreed to price match the original repair. They didn't. They only came down $400 on the final bill. Took another 5 days to get my car ready for pick up on Saturday (day 8) right at closing time mere hours before I was leaving down for my new job 2 states away. -I paid, They looked at me perplexed when I asked about the electrical issue diagnostic results (clearly they didn't even do it and just bullshitted me that nothing was wrong). -They pulled the car around and this is where I should have known how much they played me for. The headlight I paid for was still out. I should have checked everything but I was in a time crunch. I pointed it out annoyed, They spent 5 mins and replaced in on the fly with barely an apology. -They were they officially closed by the time I pull into my driveway when I discovered that the $262 repair for the cracked/water filled tail light wasn't even touched as the blue tape is still on the tail light. I'm livid. I'm pissed. And they are already closed and closed until Monday. -I call Monday morning telling them they charged me for a repair they didn't do. They make up some shit on the fly about how the part is back ordered. Yet never told me prior to that moment and still charged me. -I tell them that I was their first customer and they have been treating me like shit, that I would respect them more if they weren't lying to my face about a back ordered part and instead took responsibility of the truth which is they completely forgot about it. -I ask them for a refund (I'm already 18 hours drive away). They only want to refund me the cost of the part/labor and not the taxes I paid for the labor. Said they don't know what the taxes are (its simple math). Tell me they will call me back. I make them promise me they will call me back in an hour. Guess what, 5 hours later and no call back. I had to call THEM. And it still took 36 hours to get a refund. This is how you turn a loyal 5 star customer into a pissed off person that will never use them again. Its been more than 2 weeks and I'm still livid at them. read more

I took my car here and they said it needed 2-4K in work due to "multiple leaks" and they said "the breaks could go out at any time". I declined the work and took the car home. Sure enough, a wire within the engine bay that looked like it was cut just enough that it fell apart after driving the car came disconnected and fell onto my driveway the day after the appointment and the ABS trouble indicator light came on (talk about what a coincidence). I fixed the wire myself and car has been driving perfect ever since, no leaks or issues. Do not trust these people with your car. read more

A continuation on my last review. I'm back for the 3rd time. I continue to be impressed by how willing they are to work with you on what NEEDS done. And keeping suggestions separate. The remember me by name. They remember details about my car. I will be the first to admit I can be a difficult customer, and they handle it with stride. On top of it all no matter how extensive the repair. It never takes more than a couple hours. If I could give them a 6th star I'd do it for sure! Everything seemed fine until a week after I had gotten tie rods and shocks replaced until I started noticing a slight pull to the right when I was driving, I didn't think anything of it, all I do is drive to school and back. I was driving down the highway today when my car pulled into the right lane almost causing me to crash going 60+, when I get home I am checking and I see that the bolts to my tie rods had not been tightened and I could move them with my fingers. Discount Tire damaged the hub on my back rear wheel and sent me to Brakes Plus for the fix (odd, right)? Anyway, Toby Marvin and his team took matters on with urgency, showed me what needed to be done, escalated resolution and even cleaned my rims before I returned to pick up the car. They had me in and out in under an hour with an inspection and oil change. They were so nice and didn't "strongly suggest" a bunch of nonsense services. I just had my brakes done here and had a great experience. They didn't try to up sell me (they showed me that my front brakes were fine but my back brake pads and rotors needed replacing), they gave me a couple different price options, and they shuttled me back to my house so I could wait at home while my car was being serviced. I got scammed! Long story short. I took my car for alignment. As a "courtesy" I got a call to let me know I was in need of brakes because the recommendation it that if the brake pad is less than 3 mm. thick then it is needed so the rotors won't mess up. Stupid me trusting a "reputable" company I said yes. I called later to asked them to save the old pads for me. When I came back to pick up my car I see the old pads and it is obvious the thickness of them were greater than 5 mm. (not much you would say but according to the research I did it is probably a good 40% of the lifespan of the pad). I confronted the person and he denies telling me I needed the brakes. Manager washes his hands and goes to the back of the shop. I ask for him and the only thing he says is that he is sorry for the "miscommunication" as he put it. And that they do recommend when it is under 4mm... then he changed his mind to 5 mm. Long story short. He only credits me half the scam and I only get $200 back rather than the $400. Shame on these people taking advantage of others. Oh! but get this, I was given 2 free oil changes to make up for the "miscommunication." Go somewhere else. I did the alignment, transmission flush and oil change plus the brake scam. The bill was over $700+. After they "helped me" the bill was still over $500. Think about, if they scammed me with brakes and their wrong doing was easy to prove, I have a big doubt they did anything to my car. I will never know. I worked really hard this month to get my paycheck and turn it to them for nothing. read more
