At first it was ok....now we call 20 times a day. The pitiful excuse for a receptionist NEVER ANSWERS THE PHONE. BEEN TRYING TO SCHEDULE MY SON'S APPOINTMENT FOR A MONTH....MY WIFE WALKED IN WHILE CALLING....the LAZY,INCOMPETENT receptionist was sitting there just letting the phone ring....they've gotten the upfront payment and we pay for each visit. For the past ten years, my wife and I have been patients at Brandon Mall Dental and could not be happier. Yesterday I had slight toothache. An appointment was scheduled for the afternoon which I did not expect. Staff went out of their way to schedule a same day appointment. My wait time was less than five minutes. Dr. Atkinson is the friendliest, most talented, and compassionate dentist in the world! He knew immediately that the problem involved my crown which he quickly repaired. Within the same appointment, he found time to apply bonding material to three teeth that were affected by gum erosion. The process was meticulously described and completed perfectly. My smile is restored! Both procedures were pain free. Brandon Mall Dental support staff is terrific. I was greeted by smiling Gabriela at the front desk. She is incredibly friendly and organized. What a great personality! I immediately felt at home. Gabriela quickly researched the cost for the bonding treatment (very reasonable) and asked if the cost was acceptable. Dental Assistant Carlos is fantastic, a true professional He assisted expertly during both procedures. Carlos is well versed and made me feel at ease as he and Dr. Atkinson worked well as a team, anticipating each other's next move. Upon leaving, I was extremely happy with both procedures, no more pain and my smile restored (at minimal expense). Total time in the office was less than forty-five minutes. I could not wait to get home and tell y'all about this ratchet, bootleg, half-assed office. I'm sure there's a character limit on here, so I just outline my experience, and it should be enough to discourage you from patronizing this office. 1) They do not answer the phone but charge a fee if you don't cancel at least 24 hours before. 2) I waited 30 minutes, which would not have been a huge deal had the patient that came in 10 minutes after me, not got called back before me. 3) I'm not sure if the doctor is board certified or Tik-Tok certified, but his exam lasted all of 15 seconds, and he said, "no cavities, see you every 6 months". Didn't ask if I had any issues, pain, discomfort, nada. **This is where it gets good...or bad, depending on your perspective** 4) This lady or dental hygienist, whatever, RUBBED THE TOOTHPASTE ON MY TEETH WITH HER [gloved] FINGER. I have been on this earth for decades, and never have I EVER experienced that weirdness. So, typically, whomever, dips the tool into the paste and applies it to the teeth whilst cleaning them, right? No bib. Just straight clumps of dental toothpaste in my mouth, on my mouth, in my throat...she cleaned my teeth for all of 45 seconds. Saliva flying everywhere, didn't suction my mouth. When she finally rinsed, it was even more evident that I was her first patient, EVER. She half-rinsed my teeth, so water is obviously pooled in the bottom of my mouth, and she says, "Open your mouth," and just left me there with a mouth full of water while she put the tools away. At this point, I know the joke's on me. She says, "have a good day," I have this thick sandy toothpaste all throughout my mouth, on my clothes, on my face. She ain't floss, didn't check for or clean the plaque. Just sent me on my way with a worse brushing job than a two-year old with nubs and a broken toothbrush. 5) To add insult to injury, no little goodie bag with a toothbrush, floss, and a sticker. I have been to this location for over 2 years. The main issue with them is that if you have a general question don't even try calling. I've had to drive 30 min just to book/change appointment because they refuse to answer. We get transferred to another line where they leave a message but we never hear back from them. Every time i come in the phones are ringing and no one seems to care. The last two times I asked if they pick up the phones and they both gave me terrible excuses on how busy they get. Which I'm sure I'm they are at times. But to never ever pick up is unprofessional. They could simply pick up and ask them to wait until the have helped the person in line. It's common sense and negligence on their part. The front needs better training on multitasking. They finally picked up the phone after I said something and it took them 30 seconds to answer their question. read more

The worst dentist office, my wife and I have ever been to! When we got there, we waited 3 hours to be given service. for multiple weeks before yesterday we were calling and everything trying to make an appointment and nobody answers the phone. When we arrived, there was that the phone was broken. the doctor was very rude and very rough. After the service and we left, we left with a lot of jaw pain that we did not have. When we tried to call to complain, they would not answer the phone.. and after the lady had a nasty attitude when explaining to her the bad service that we received. we paid $80 for medicine they said we needed and they did not use. Dbl booking on appt. with a 2+ hour wait (and that's on a good day), dirty environment, poorly stocked on equipment, rude staff with limited english spoken, and constant interruptions while they are working in your mouth by other dental assistants so no privacy. The worste service I have ever dealt with put on "hold" for 15 minutes I hang up and call back. They then answer and immediately tell me to hold despite me speaking over them to tell them no. Then que another 15 minutes. I hang up and call again and then they literally decline my calls. Me and my friend spam call until this rude lady answers and fills me in. They were I guess having there 3 o'clock lunch my bad. I asked when they have lunch and they responded 2-3. When I asked why they were having lunch at 3:30 I was told the doctor wasn't in. The girl at front desk named Valainia made a remark to me that the wait would be about 45 minutes...I asked her is it always this long of a wait and she replied...We take all kinds of insurance...I was appalled by her remark! So I take it that means unless you've good insurance or paying cash you're going to wait an extremely long time whether you like it or not! If I had better insurance I sure wouldn't be here! DON'T GO HERE! They schedule 4 patients for exact schedule times and only have one dentist daily. And 1 Endodontist MONTHLY! Then they don't tell you anything on why doctor is behind or that they use this practice. If your appointment is at 11:00, expect to be seen at 12:30 at least. The 4 times I've had to go there 4 times they made me wait between 45 minutes to 1hr and a half to be seen. Then when I said i'm leaving call me back there to wait another 30 to 45 minutes. They tell you they accept all insurance... NOT TRUE. I got roped into getting another insurance. This is not a professional place it's a racket to make money, waste time. read more

I waited 2 HOURS (for a scheduled cleaning) before deciding to leave. I had a appointment, for my four-year-old, at 10:30. We showed up 15min early. The entire time none of the staff bothered to mention that they were running behind. After an hour of waiting we finally got a room. The dental hygienist (nice lady) started the process. When she was done she told me to take a seat; came back 20 minutes later to say the doctor was coming now. I waited another 10-15min and still no doctor. 3 or 4 technicians came in and out of the room grabbing various tools but no one spoke a word to us. So I took my son out of the chair and we left..... Patients like to be notified of what to expect. We should be given status updates, for example: the doctor has 2 patients before you but he'll be with you as soon as possible etc..... The WORST EXPERIENCE in the medical profession. The office staff are totally rude, uncaring and unprofessional. I had insurance that this office accepts. I went for initial visit and met Dentist. After that it was all downhill. Tried to make appointment for NINE MONTHS. That's right, for 9 months I called them weekly, went in person, mailed letters, called the answering service and no one ever called me back or followed up. I am not sure if the Dentist himself knew what was going on, but all the girls in that office were too busy talking and laughing amongst themselves, on their personal phones and ignoring the customers. I even filed a formal complaint with the State of FL Licensing Board. Nothing was ever done and still no one ever got back to me. Thank god my Union changed Insurance companies and that nightmare ended. These girls should be ashamed of themselves and because of them this place is probably going out of business. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment. Seats in lobby were completely ripped up. It's was another 30 minutes before I was shown back. My X-rays were taken with no conversation on what was going on. Just here open wide and on to the next. After that I was shown into an exam room. I sat there for 30 minutes with no communication on what was going on. Someone came in. Said a few remarks on my X-rays. I couldn't understand a thing she was saying. The dentist came in. Gave a quick exam. Said I had two cavities and left. I sat there for another 45 minutes with no communication. I finally got up to leave and was walking out when the receptionist brought in the statement of what it would cost. No work could be done same day. So 2 hours and 15 minutes later. And I was leaving with no work done. Waste of time. I knew I wasn't getting quality service so I booked an appointment with another dentist for a follow up appointment. I actually had 8 cavities and was able to get my cleaning and 3 cavities done same day. read more

I am giving 2 stars because the DENTAL staff was great! They did a really good job with our children, provided courteous service, and are the only reason I would even consider returning. Now, the OFFICE staff is a different story. We arrived 15 minutes EARLY for our appointments. They had called the day before to tell us that our insurance was not valid, and asked for our Cigna information. I gave them the Cigna information, but Cigna is our medical not dental provider. We finally worked all of that out in the office, and I would have chalked it all up to a misunderstanding/miscommunication, but then I overheard the (person who appeared to be the) office manager telling the staff to purposely make us wait longer because we gave them the wrong information (you know, the info they asked for). Like, to punish us??? Our kids ended up being seen 90 MINUTES AFTER their appointment time, which was 105 minutes after we arrived. My kids are 5 and 2, and this was during dinner time, so you can imagine how well that went over. The staff was incredibly rude and unhelpful, and make me want to never return. My hope is that there will be a new office staff there in 6 months, and that our kids can go see those great dentists/hygienists again. read more

I don't recommend anyone to go here! Today was my 3rd visit in which I was supposed to get a couple cavity's filled my appointment was at 12 I got there at 11:40. Finally at 12:50 after more than an hour of waiting I ask what the hold up is and I'm told that there machine that cleans the tools wasn't working and it could be a while not even an actual time frame of how long. The only way I found this out was by asking about the wait they had no intention on letting anyone know about the issue. They then tried to reschedule me for 20 days from now. On my first visit I waited 2 hours for a cleaning after leaving work early and loosing pay for that day to only have x rays done and them schedule the cleaning. The second appointment was another hour wait for a cleaning that was not very in-depth for the fact that I was charged an extra $30 for more than the basic cleaning. After my wait today when I asked about a less busy time to schedule the receptionist only answer for me was that they take a lot of different insurance and see a lot of patients. I choose this location out of convenience to where I work in the mall but all that is useless if every appointment there is an hour wait or more in store regardless of what time of day you are scheduled. Very disappointed would give less than 1 star if I could, if you value your time see any other dentist. read more

Office staff couldn't be more rude and unhelpful. No room to sit in the waiting room. One of the men behind the desk and called insurance companies while on speaker phone. Loudly. When I had to reschedule for a follow up they were so rude as said I need another evaluation. It had only been two weeks. The dentist we saw was great. That's the only thing. I wish we didn't have garbage dental insurance who only covered this place. I plan to pay out of pocket somewhere outside our coverage to never have to go through it again. It was bad. read more

They are awful at scheduling and often over schedule, forget to schedule, and patients wait for hours for their scheduled appointment. The office will look for any reason to over charge you and have you pay out of pocket in addition to charging your insurance company for made up charges. STAY AWAY. I was hoping to find a dental office that caters to entire families, especially children. The staff was friendly, but the wait was long and the rooms were extremly small. Very rude, snooty, and super slow. 45 minutes after signing in for a first thing appointment was the fastest we've ever been called back. Walked out on the lay appointment 2 1/2 hours after app. Time and still not taken back. Dentist was very rough on cleanings and the whole family had sore mouths and some cuts from their aggressive cleaning. I waited 1hr and 50 min for the Dr to come in and see me for less than 5 min. Then to tell the assistant that yes I'm ok for a regular cleaning, even though I was already scheduled for a cleaning... then the lady cleaning my teeth less than 10 min said they were very clean, she didn't even use the scraper to remove any tater buildup. So, basically brushed my teeth and flossed. Worst dental place even! Do ur self a favor and go anywhere else!! Today my cleaning appointment was for 3:00, checked in at 2:45 and paid at 3:05. I did not get called in until 3:50, sat down they put on the bib and then I waited another 35 minutes, I left at 4:30. On 26 December, I waited 50 minutes before being seen and waited another 40 minutes to finish the x-rays and check up. The front desk was very nice and explained every payment details. Time management is a not a skill that this offices has and I recommend they hire an office manager. Also, this might be my fault as I did not check there reviews which are terrible. read more

Had an appointment at 10am as soon as they opened. Got there at 10.03am. They let this gentleman that was there before me in (I thought I was first appointment, and I didn't arrive late enough for them to send someone back first) Waited 30 mins before they took me back. 10.45pm they were done with X-rays and took me into a room. (Their X-ray machine was fancy. It had voice over and played elevator music). Waited 50mins inside the room before anyone will attend to me or see me. There is no privacy, a patient went after me to get X-rays done and I could hear everything he was telling the assistant. As I'm waiting on the room I took a look at the cleanliness of the room. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't the best. (When they were doing the X-ray the tool they put in my mouth didn't taste as fresh and autoclaved(sterilized) as it does at my other dentist which has 4 star reviews). So that sparked the suspicion in my head and when I'm in the room I just look at little things that look like they haven't cleaned or ever clean. There is no hook to hang your purse or belongings so I had to place my jacket and purse on the floor. So I walked out after they had already done X-rays and when I spoke with the young lady to reschedule my appointment she apologized and said that Saturdays they open at 9am and the dentist had an extraction. I could hear him working when I was in the room and it didn't sound like they would be done anytime soon. She said since they already did X-rays I wouldn't have any done next visit.
