I wanted to try the original but they didn't have any available at the time. My options were Buffalo Dumpwings and Chicken and Conecuh Sausage. I got a bag of each and even got a couple extra buffalo that I think they just had extra! It came with sauces for both an instructions for easy pan cooking. I made a batch of both to put with dinner and it was easy enough. I've made frozen dumplings before so it was a familiar process. While I enjoyed bothe flavors, they're both very bold. I would only want a few at a time and wouldn't really make a meal of of them. I think I would do that with the traditional so I'll have to try those next time. Either way, these dumplings are amazing and creative with the flavors. Check them out at a pop up or order some delivered with a porch drop off.

Even though I'm a resident of Charleston, I had yet to visit Halls for snobby reasons - it's a…read moretourist spot, there are other places, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, a friend is in town visiting, and wanted to go to dinner. We're both carnivores, so steak was the order of the day. I did pick a spot off the beaten path, but at the last minute snagged a reservation for Halls, and figured I'd "check off the box." I'm extremely happy I did. Last year I cursed myself by going to The Oak, which was like Outback Steakhouse 2.0; Halls (at least in my experience) was top tier dining at its finest in terms of presentation, service, hospitality, and overall vibe. Yes, it's incredibly loud in there, but that's life. My friend ordered the filet and I, the dry aged ribeye (with black truffle butter accompaniment), both medium rare. Lobster macaroni and cheese and the roasted jalapeño corn, along with the crab cakes and onion soup. The ribeye had fantastic flavor, though I secretly wished I grabbed the NY strip instead. No real reason, but it's a genius marketing move to display the cuts of meat to the table before ordering. That's what screwed me up. But, to be fair, I do that everywhere I eat ("maybe I should have ordered that"). Cannot say enough about the service. A+. Along with our incredible server, no less than two members of management came to our table asking if we needed anything, and that was in a full house. And they all seemed GENUINELY interested in making sure we were happy and satisfied - I didn't feel any of them were going through the motions. I don't usually drink, but I polished off two pineapple martinis and probably could have had five more. Also, I have to note we NEVER felt rushed - it's a hectic room, but the chaos is under control. Totally relaxed and comfortable. Halls Chophouse absolutely delivered for me, and I will certainly be back without a doubt. If you're staying downtown with limited time, I'd definitely recommend it if you can grab a reservation. And, after experiencing Halls, give the little guys a try down the line.

I got the tuna tartare to start, which was very fresh with the right touch of acidity. The tomahawk was cooked to a perfect medium rare with a nice red wine sauce (you can skip this if you want), and the flavor and seasoning was on point. The lobster Mac was creamy and had the right amount of lobster, the loaded mash potatoes were textbook, and the Brussels sprouts were the best I've ever had. Overall such a fantastic meal and experience, and I would definitely come back for a special occasion. 4.8/5

When we went, there wasn't anything that really caught my eye as a main, so we decided to eat tapas style and try a few different options. The taste or "appetizer" menu was my favorite that night. In addition to the bread service and a bottle of wine, we ordered four different options to taste and the spaghetti. The flavors and textures were amazing. I didn't expect to have a spaghetti dish to have such deep and complex flavors. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable, and helped make our dining experience spectacular. The interior of the restaurant is stunning, and it's unexpectedly huge. We finished with a desert that was out of this world. It looked like it would taste like a brownie, but the mouse was amazing and the brownie was baked perfectly. That's what I'm looking for when I want a desert! I will say that if the Michelin star restaurants I've been to, this isn't my top, but it's very clear why they wanted their stars! I had a great experience.

To start Abigail, our waitress, was attentive, helpful, super sweet and just about the best waitress I have ever had. My wife and I ordered a round of cocktails, expecting the usual great description with subsequent lack luster drinks. Last night was different, midnight bloom which is their take on an old fashioned, but really in a different league; Smooth complex, and satisfying. My wife got the Ruby Ruby which is sort of a pomegranate martini with champagne. Refreshing and vibrant. For appetizers we had the blue crab fritters and the pork belly. The fritters were crispy, light, and full of crab flavor. Virtually no filler. I could have eaten a hundred. The pork belly was crispy, and rich without being too heavy. They also serve it in a white sauce that I was still thinking about the next day. For entrees we got the Roasted grouper and the pork shank. The grouper was maybe a bit overcooked and dry, but the accompanying butter beans stole the show. The were rich, and layered with flavor. I will never see the simple butter bean in the same way ever again. The pork was fall off the bone tender without being dry. The sauce it was served in was a masterpiece. There were hints of apple, berry, cinnamon, and many other notes, I would drink it by the glass if it was available. We split the gelato for dessert. Pure delight. Smooth, bursting with flavor, and leaving you wanting for more. All in all, except for a small misstep with the cook on the grouper a near perfect dinner. I would go there soon because a Michelin star can not be far off, and then getting a table will be a near impossibility.
