Was invited by a friend to check out some barbecue that she swears is the best in all the Northwest. Before I came, I looked at the reviews and there seems to be a lot of different mixed messages. For one if you're a regular customer and come in often, the employees seem to treat you much better, and when it comes to food they seem to have the better pick of food from the kitchen. As I read through one review they frequently come, they said that they are definitely changes in the service and the quality of food just within the last year or two. Given more history, I did hear that after Covid the restaurant lost certain companies that they used to get their food from which could explain the downgrade in the quality. I only took one picture because in all honesty it really wasn't worth me taking others and I don't understand why a side salad literally a third of the plate was eight dollars. The cucumbers had gone bad and some of the lettuce had even been wilted. The salad definitely was not worth eight dollars. I have had side salads with fresh ingredients for the same price at a dive bar and this is supposed to be a very well-known kind of upscale barbecue place that's in a well-known community that supports their business. The server was also mediocre and I honestly don't believe it would've been better but we were with a well-known customer, the employees seem to be a little bit more friendly, but definitely did not go out of way to make sure my meals were good. The macaroni and cheese taste very bland. There was not a whole lot of seasoning to it. Some of my brisket was dry and some of it was cold so that makes me wonder how long it's been sitting. The brisket was also kind of a seasoned, but not very well. The Tri-tip also was dry which I don't recommend getting. I did enjoy the baked beans and potato salad, but be aware because some cups of beans have mainly onions and bell pepper with barely any beans and some of the cups have no onions and peppers with just all beans. I have had a lot of barbecue in this state being a native of Kansas City and relatives from Texas. I know what good food is especially barbecue! I guess for this area it's one of the better places to go. The only other location that's nearby is Jack's barbecue which is their specialty is beef ribs, but they put literally pepper in everything so there's no flavor at all except for spicy!!!! At least at this restaurant, I'm not drinking a gallon of water because everything is so spicy like at Jack's but that's for another review. We were visiting Sumner and the hotel we were staying at recommended this eatery. Upon walking in, all the ladies were very attentive. They took our order at the counter and then sat us. It was lunch time and the place was pretty busy with locals who work in the surrounding area. We ordered the brisket and pulled pork sandwich. Both were very good and their sides were delicious. Very nice dining room very clean and relaxing service was good but not amazing BBQ is expensive to produce and the prices are in line with that I'd rate them as reasonable great selection of meals and combos as well as the option to create your own. I had brisket ribs and pulled pork beans and Mac and cheese I really enjoyed the sides I thought the meat was not the best I've had but not the worst either it seems as though it may have been held a little too long and the pulled pork was salted strongly. GREAT BBQ, but the portions could be bigger. Two meat combo of sliced brisket (thicker slices would be great) and pulled pork (DELICIOUS!) with great beans, coleslaw, and cornbread sides. If you have them cater, see if you can get the "funeral potatoes" because they are amazing and I wish they were in the in house menu. Always great service here with a "back in the day" flair. Not a fan. I'm a big fan of bbq in general, so I was looking forward to trying this place because I work about a mile away. I paid $23 for the brisket sandwich with 2 sides (fries and coleslaw for me). It was a huge disappointment. The brisket was dry, the portion size was weak, the sides were mediocre, and the flavor was average. Not sure what I expected based off the location, but I was hoping I would at least get my money's worth. I much prefer Dickey's which offers the same meal around $17. First off the ranch beans and corn bread were to die for. A slight step down was the brisket, which was flavorful, but a little dry, not a lot dry, just a bit. The baked potato was nothing special, "loaded" could have added some cheese or bacon bits or something but it was pretty much just sour cream and chives. The only negative, and this might be a big one for some of y'all, the sweet tea. It was slightly sweet and barely tea. Listen, let me help you, on the stove fill a pot with water put the tea bags in and boil till it's dark like molasses while it's bubbling put in three cups of sugar. stir for 3 min. Then fill a pitcher with ice and pour the thick tea over the top to cut the tea. When you win an award for the best sweet tea, make sure to name it after me seriously tho, it was great food, good service, terrible tea. read more

We got dinner from here tonight after it popped up in an ad from Yelp. The food is absolutely amazing, and service is outstanding! When I picked up the piece of chicken the bone fell out! The brisket and ribs are amazing as well! The baked beans are delicious with lots of bacon, beef and onions in them. I could eat a gallon! LOL! The Mac & Cheese is also so creamy. At this restaurant it's all about the smoked meat, so don't order a salad as an entrée or you will be missing out. They don't serve alcohol so don't try to order a beer (which would have gone good with the meat.) It is a little hard to find so use a GPS. There is only one entrance into the little mall and it is around the corner. When we walked in, I thought, "Oh no, it's just a take-out," but there is a dining room off to the left. We thought it was interesting that there were firemen there, ordering take-out smoked meat, but that just meant that the place had good food. The service was very good, even on a Friday night. I had ribs and brisket, and my husband had ribs. The portions were very large. The brisket was tender and smoky. There was BBQ sauce on the table but the meat did not need anything. My husband thought the ribs were just a little chewy. When we BBQ ribs we like the meat to be so tender it just falls off the bone. The smoky meat, however, was wonderful. Don't be grossed out but I took the bones home to make soup stock, and they are boiling in chicken stock right now. Dinner was not cheap. For two entrees of meat including 2 sides, 2 corn bread muffins, an iced tea, coffee and tip, dinner was $100 for two people. This, of course, did not include any alcohol. Would we go here again? Maybe. We can do smoked ribs as well as they can but we would not try to do brisket. read more

Definitely a family-run joint - we knew we were in for a treat when we heard "Hey, your mom's yellin' for ya!" coming from the kitchen... This is by far the best Texas-style barbecue I've had since I left the state. Even the brisket ends were moist (sorry), they're justifiably proud enough of their pulled pork that they don't pre-sauce it, and the smoke ring on the ribs was a thing of beauty. Even the cowboy beans were excellent, and I don't typically care for baked beans of any kind. Corn muffins were a nice middle ground between cornmeal-savory and sweet-cakey, but for the price I do wish they were bigger or they served them in pairs. Sumner WA Wanted to try this place a few times but always missed out. Not today. Three meat combo and after reading the reviews I made sure to ask for fatty side on the brisket. Not disappointed as it was tender and juicy. The chicken was smoked properly and flavorful, same with the ribs. I liked the baker and it was loaded. Probably will ask for it without the extra meat added. Slaw perfect. Cornbread was so good but wish it was a little bigger. No matter I'll get an extra next time. Really glad I tried them. read more

This place is simply DELICIOUS!! First time having it and it did not disappoint. The sweet potatoes were the best I've ever had. The brisket was nice and tender, the ribs as well. This is a strong BBQ joint. Highlight for me was the pork ribs. Good smoke and great flavor. The chicken and brisket were also good. The thing that impressed me most was the fact everything was good. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted and then seated at a nice table. We were asked right away what we would like to drink. The lemonade was amazing . I made a custom plate of several meats and some cowboy beans which were so amazing. I had to get another helping. . The other plate was an au jus made with brisket, homemade potato salad, and homemade coleslaw. The food was amazing. I mean over the top amazing. And the service was just excellent. We were updated as to when our meals were coming and once the food was delivered, they kept our drinks full and made sure we had everything we needed. It's hard to explain how good the smoked meats actually were, they were authentic and delicious. The restaurant was sparkling, clean with tables set in a large room with plenty of space between the tables so you didn't bump into other people . We've been meaning to come here for a while and finally made it. The space is much bigger inside than what you would expect, and the service is good and pleasant. I like the St Louis style ribs (dry rub, not bbq messy) but they were a bit dry. The baked beans (they call them cowboy beans) are excellent. Seriously, best in class. It's been awhile since I've been here for lunch. Decided to make a stop for lunch and it was still one of my favorites for bbq. Though I wasn't hungry enough for baby back ribs, I chose the pulled pork sandwich. That is actually IMO much more filling than the ribs would've been. It was so good that i ask myself why we don't come often enough? When you find this place you're going to probably know the answer to my question lol. It's probably because of its location, if you don't ever drive by the area....like ever! My kid loved his meal!! He repeated it several times how he loved everything about it!! He usually doesn't say too much, just eats. He doesn't always like potatoes but he really enjoyed the baked potato. The cornbread is always something I look forward to having and everything else was still satisfying. Service is also very friendly, quick and attentive. It has a little dark ambiance but certain parts are brighter with the sun shining through. Too bright for me today. So we chose the dark corner hahaha! read more

I took a bite out of a rib and realized I need to do a review so forgive the bite mark. Lol. Hats off to the pit master at this place! Great flavor, taste, and very tender meat. And the beans are the bomb! The only thing I would change would be the potato salad. I prefer less mayo in mine but that's a personal preference. The potatoes were cooked well and there was good potato to pickle ratio and the mustard wasn't overwhelming so it was still good. I got the sweet BBQ sauce and it was sweet with a hint of smoke and spice. Great sauce! I'm leaving town Friday heading back home and if my schedule works out I'll probably eat here every day until I leave then order again when I come back. Hats off to the young lady who took my order and delivered. She was very professional, courteous, and helpful. She started my experience with this restaurant on a good foot and the food knocked it out of the park. Everyone who is near the area should make it a point to stop by. The seating area is a little closely packed and I was bumped into by the waitress more than 10 times as she was serving the table behind me. The cornbread is classic cornbread and not sweet cornbread. They didn't have honey either when we asked. The servings are decent sized. The pulled pork is incredible, the chicken is very moist, and the ribs were to die for. The brisket was dry for me and heavily relied on the bbq sauce for flavor and moisture.
