I'm not sure how to feel...there were just so many things that we had issues with. 1.) Why have tables if you're not going to fill them? Maybe I should've asked, but I would've probably sounded pretentious. We came as a group of 4 at 12pm on a Sunday and surprisingly it wasn't all that busy. Even so, the booth seats were all full and there were plenty of tables in the center. For some reason we still had to wait 20 minutes. I'm not sure why they do this. Seriously, why do you do this? We weren't the only ones; several people were also waiting despite the restaurant being half empty. When we were called, the people who waited before us just ended up sitting right in the center where they could have been seated 15 minutes ago. Confused. Despite this, the hostess was still nice and held the door open for us. 2.) Biggest issue: service. We saw our waitress once and twenty minutes later did she finally come back to take our order. I repeat: TWENTY minutes. I'm not even exaggerating; I literally was looking at the clock on the wall. We even tried to flag her down, but she kept ignoring us. Even the other waitresses ignored us. We literally raised our hand above our heads and the waitresses took one look at us and then walked right past. I EVEN MADE EYE CONTACT. I'm a waitress myself--and even if this table isn't mine, I'd at least tell the server in charge that their table wants something. We even saw our waitress pull up a chair to a different table and start chatting. The hell? Other people who were seated after us had their order taken before us. I literally have never been so ignored. I'm really confused as to why. When she finally DID come over, she acted like nothing happened and was perfectly nice. So did we. Looking back I should've made a bigger deal about it. 3.) Food was as OK as American diners will go--way too salty that I left half of it unfinished. I don't blame staff for this, but meh on the food is a -2 stars. And of course it took her awhile to notice we were done (despite our attempts to flag her down.) We were as polite as we could be and still left her an undeserving 20% to prove a point. Either she treated us this way because we were young or because we were Asian or both--I'm not sure, but I honestly felt like I was getting waaayyyy too traditional of an "American experience" if you feel me. Will I ever come back? Nope. Never. Not in a million years. And suffice to stay, neither will anyone like me return either if this waitstaff is going to continue being this inefficient and just plain bad. Surprised seeing as the majority of them are young. We had breakfast here one morning last week - went because of the strong reviews. It was really only just edible. I believe I can easily cook a better breakfast at home. I'll keep it real here. The food was mediocre but it's what you except from a diner so I cannot complain. What really shocked me though was the disregard for the deadly virus currently spreading rapidly across the nation. As we approach a quarter million deaths across the country I think the very least we can do is wear a mask but clearly the chefs here do not agree as all three chefs had no masks on whatsoever. When we walked in there was a kid screaming, dirty tables all over, 3 other parties waiting behind us, and maybe 6 other tables in the restaurant. It's not the fault of the servers, but this place is clearly very poorly managed. We waited over 10 minutes and it didn't appear we would have gotten a seat anytime soon so we left. Decent food and cool atmosphere but very little Covid-19 precautions put in place. Every chef in the kitchen didn't wear a mask and a majority of the staff only put bandanas on when they approached the tables. I think it's extremely irresponsible to have people cooking food for hundreds of customers and potentially breathing on their food all day. One word: MEH. I took two twelve year-olds here as a financial alternative to the "other breakfast place" just down the road, and well... you get what you pay for: bland eggs, Wonder Bread-type toast (which was supposedly whole wheat!) and hash browns seasoned with too much Lowry's season salt. Blecch. The amount of food each of us got was excessive, and the coffee was unremarkable. It was also obvious that one of the boy's hash was from a can. The service was a mixed bag, as it seems like the waitresses are all over the restaurant instead of each handling one section as they probably should have. I don't know what our waitress was doing, but it seemed like it took forever for her to greet us and get coffee/juice, and she would disappear from the floor for long periods of time. I'd also like to point out, and this may sound mean, that on the day we were there, there appeared to be a lot of "unhealthy-seeming" folks in this restaurant. It seemed like a haven for very large people who, sadly, may be well on their way to having Type II diabetes and/or heart disease, and eating here is definitely not going to help with that. There is almost no healthy-ish food to be had here, and the vegetable omelet, which is probably healthiER is also the most expensive item on the menu. If I were to pay more money for delicious, healthy food, I would happily shell out $14 for an egg dish with fresh mixed greens, capers, red onions, salmon, cage-free eggs and nutty, multi-grain toast - like they have at the place down the road! Again, you get what you pay for: cheap, unspecial, unhealthful food served in a kind of sterile, neglectful atmosphere - not unlike the hospital room you could find yourself in after getting some obesity-related disease because you ate breakfast here too often. read more

The breakfast here is quick, cheap, and tasty. Don't let the outside deter you. This place is wonderful. It's very clean inside, the staff is always attentive. My husband and I stopped in for breakfast on a recent December Sunday morning. Although that's prime breakfast time, we were able to snag a booth promptly. After we placed our orders (chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon for me, the Marilyn Monroe plate for him), I swear our food was in front of us in less than 10 minutes ~ fantastic! I'm not always a fan of restaurant pancakes {so why did I order them, you ask? I don't know}, but these were delicious. The three eNORMous pancakes were fluffy and sweet; next time I might get the short stack because there was a LOT of pancake going on! My husband loved his meal too ~ the two of us were silent for a solid five minutes, shoveling food in like a couple of growing teenage boys. My one complaint? I don't know where our {otherwise reasonably attentive} waitress disappeared to after she dropped off the bill. Well, yes I do know, because I could see her ~ waiting on a table of five or six that had recently been seated. We weren't in a rush and I completely appreciate how overwhelming a large party can be as they get settled in and put in drink orders, etc. However, it took literally FIFTEEN MINUTES from the time the waitress dropped off the bill until she came back to grab our card to swipe. In the grand scheme of life, fifteen minutes isn't much, but when you're done with your meal and waiting to pay, that is a LONG time! It actually took longer to pay the bill than it did to get our order. And, even more strange, she did not offer as much as a "sorry for the wait" when she finally came back. So, the food was good and the atmosphere cute {think 50s-diner-style}, and although the staff wasn't knock-your-socks-off fantastic they were pleasant enough...but that wait to pay the bill was truly ridiculous. read more

My husband and I went there today (after only being open 3 days) and absolutely loved it! The menu selection is perfect - we loved the themed menu names, variety of options, the decor was very nice and clean, the waitstaff was friendly. The food was excellent and everything came out perfectly according to our specifications. The prices were reasonable. We can't wait to go back. Hopefully they'll have specials every now and then. Had breakfast, which was delicious, and the bill came with a convenience charge. This charge is for paying with a credit card and if you pay with cash they will remove this charge. This charge SHOULD be posted and told to each customer prior to ordering. How many customers don't look at their bill and pay the bottom line. Shame on The Hop for trying to pull something over on their customers. I will not go back there and I am telling everyone I meet about this charge. read more

Cons: Counter had melted cheese hanging off it, saw a waitress stick the handle of the syrup container in the waistband of her pants ( against her skin). Asked if hash was house made, and was told that it wasn't but delicious. No thanks I can get canned hash at home. Decided on the bacon pancakes. They were heavy and bland. The syrup was the fake corn syrup crap. Sat at counter and could see in the kitchen. The cooks could crank out bland boring food, but had no passion in what they do. The food is fine however upon entering we were greeted with many empty tables and still had to wait over 20 minutes for our party of four to be seated. They crossed our name off the list they had and let several people go before us. After reviving the check it was simply 53$ written on the back of the check, while the meal was only 40$. They try to force you to tip a normal amount without telling you that's gratuity included. I almost left 70$ until I realized this underhanded tactic. This place's saving grace is the fact that their food is excellent. I can't say the same about their service however. Often times I'll be seated at the counter and wait for 5 or 10 minutes before even being acknowledged and presented with a menu. They could improve on that for sure. I wrote my first review on this great little breakfast spot. I gave them 4 stars mostly based on my slightly under done pancakes. This time I got eggs over easy, bacon cooked crispy(and they delivered it crispy!) home fries and a grilled English muffin. Not many places get the English muffin right. They nailed it . Eggs were perfect, everything delish. My son got pancakes and they were perfect. I almost wished I got them. Place was jamming per usual, but the food was done in a timely manner. Hostess very welcoming and nice. The waitress was efficient . Didn't catch her name. I feel they must read the reviews and try and improve, because the pancakes were def awesome. I would prefer to give this place 2 stars, but where they recently opened and are still working the kinks out, I'll be nice and give them 3. My fiance and I went on a Monday morning around 10. There was a lot of people in there and we ended up having to sit at one of the very small tables where we really wanted a booth but they were all taken. The menu is cute but I wish it was bigger. I have great vision but really had to focus to read it. They have the typical breakfast options with pretty good prices. I ordered the Truman which is 2 eggs, homefries and toast and I got a side of bacon. Fiance got a pepper and onion omelette. After ordering, we waited probably 20 minutes for our food and when it got there mine had no homefries and his had about 10 tiny, burned ones. The waitress, who looked about 16, didn't come to check on us once and no other waitress was around to ask for my homefries. The eggs were good and had a buttery flavor and the 4 slices of bacon were excellent. I tried my fiances crispy critters, aka the homefries, and they weren't good at all. They were overwhelming with some herb flavor and just not right. His grilled english muffin was like a brick and he took one bite and was scared to take another for the sake of chipping a tooth. I think if this place can improve and have their waitresses be way more attentive, we may consider going back. The decor was cute with the 50s stuff but it was odd how the music only played every now and then. We also didn't like how there was no separation and the place is one big open room. They should put up some booth separators on the tops and also the middle they should have put more booths...not tiny little tables. Our choice for breakfast in B Rock is still definitely Arthur and Pats. Hopefully more people will come here in the summer so A&P isn't always so busy and you won't have to wait as long! read more

One star for service....horrible. Seated right away, but sat for 5 plus minutes before we got up and moved to the counter. Service was better but not what you expect with counter service. Thought maybe we were invisible until the poor family that sat at the table we vacated had to flag down the server, she told them she wasn't ready to take their order yet....Really. I was a server at a breakfast place in college, no matter how far in the weeds you are just get them coffee, give them something. There were more bus people working than servers; have them do coffee and beverages. If it makes it easier don't serve milk shakes before 10am. Still left a better than average tip because being a server on the breakfast shift sucks & believe some of the issues were with the restaurant management. On to the food, four stars for food. The omelet was fluffy and cooked just right. And it was huge. My niece had the Lucille Ball breakfast sandwich; looked great she said was tasty. It was also huge. We had high hopes due to the super convenient location but will NOT be back. We went on a weekend morning so expected some wait. But we did not expect to wait much longer than the estimate while we watched empty tables sit vacant. We also had an issue with one of the orders. It was not handled well and left a very bad taste. More blame the customer than try to get it right. Service was not the quickest (again, not necessarily expected on a weekend) but with the empty tables ... ? Food is marginally better than your typical diner, but again, given the issues with seating and lack of concern about the customer experience, we will NOT be back and can't recommend. read more

My husband and I went to the hop on a beautiful snowy morning for breakfast. We have eaten at the hop before. I had not been there in about 1 year. The coffe was slightly bitter, and my Lucille breakfast sandwich well stacked the only thing that ruined the whole taste was the grilled English muffin which you could taste the "rancid" oil taste that is associated with dirty grill, not happy about that. So i won't be going back there for anything grilled. read more

My sister and I were looking for a good breakfast place on the way to the beach yesterday so we decided to give Hop a try. I ordered the Italian omelet that had sausage and veggies with cheese. My sister got the Greek omelet that had tomatoes, spinach and feta cheese in it. Both omelette cane with home fries and a carb (toast, English muffin of bagel). I felt like the food was bland, had no seasoning. The coffee was good. Hop is overpriced and meh for food. read more

I went to the Hop almost weekly during my maternity leave. The staff are incredibly friendly, food is always delicious.
