Recently discovered Brash. So glad I did. Their social media on point and when they posted about a saturday drive thru, i jumped at the chance. So this past friday night i loaded in three Pussy Wagon IPA crowlers on their website. Wanted to deliver a couple to some fine co workers of mine who appreciate splendid craft beer. They let u pick a delivery time and sure enough, yesterday afternoon i rolled in right on time and they dropped a bag of crowlers right into my front seat. Good stuff. Thank you Brash!! Considering the rep of Brash, this tap room supremely underwhelmed. Only 5 beers on tap. IPA were average at best and under 7%. Inside was huge and heavy metal leaning but lots of area to sit. Dog friendly and loud. Hard to find building but parking simple. Definitely a pass for Houston beer hopping. If you really want their beer, just go to a beer bar not the brewery. read more

This place is great. It's tucked away in a nondescript industrial complex. Very similar to how St. Arnold and Karbach started off. When you walk in the place is pretty dark and the juke box is playing some form of heavy metal. To the right are half a dozen picnic tables, the bar, and a wall lined with classic video games. To the left is a crapload of open space (I assume for expansion possibilities) and what can be described as Brash's flux capacitor of of fermentation tanks (see pic). As for the beer they only serve IPAs and Stouts. Great opportunity to make your girlfriends/spouses to suck it up and try something different! Good variety and extremely tasty. Bartenders were also friendly and helpful. The only dig I have was the lack of signage from the road. We had to drive by three times to find the driveway. Swung by on a tour of Houston breweries. It's a quiet venue kind of hidden away up in the heights. At least it was when I went. Most of the space is empty or reserved for the brewing kit. It's pretty much all dark except for the taps. There's a bunch of arcade games along the walls. You'll find their list of beers on skateboards on the wall. They didn't have much on tap today unfortunately, but the beer I had was good. Staff seemed pretty friendly and the regulars here were inviting. There's some pool tables as well. No frills, and a pretty chill place if you like your beer. read more

We made a small road trip at the beginning of October and stopped at Houston to stretch our legs. So we looked for a local brewery to have a beer. I found you on Google and thought it was perfect. I looked you up in Instagram to try to find out about your parking and came across a post about your Halloween beer. Arriving at the place, the bar tender was super rude. He asked what beer I wanted and asked him if you already had the Halloween beer. He said he didn't know what I was talking about. Then I told him I saw it on Instagram. He responded, "I never check that sh*t." I just stood there for a moment and I picked whatever from the menu. But I really didn't enjoy anything after that poor customer experience. Moving to Houston from Northern California, I've been pretty underwhelmed by the local craft brew scene. If one more person suggests to me that Karbach Hopadillo is "a really good IPA," my head is going to explode. Brash is by far the best craft IPA brewer I've come across so far in Houston, offering up a nice variety of West Coast IPAs, amongst other options. In addition to having a selection of great beer, their tasting room is dope: old school stand-up arcade games, picnic tables, and a jukebox that is constantly blasting metal, punk, and hardcore. This place feels raw and even a little underground, and I love it. Finding this joint can be difficult the first time around - I believe that the wooden Brash sign that used to be visible from the street has been removed, so you just kinda need to know when to take a right down a little alley behind a cluster of apartment buildings to enter the mostly unpaved parking lot in front of Brash's massive open warehouse space. Great homebrewed beer right in the heart of Houston. Arcade inside and the look was made on purpose like an auto garage junkyard minus all the junk. We pulled in to Brash Brewing, and we are told we couldn't park there, we had to park at LA Fitness. We backed up to the main road, and parked in another company's parking lot. We then walked to Brash. When we got there, the same Brash employee that told us to park in another company's lot then told us that it was a ticketed event, and no one without a ticket could come in. Great job telling four craft beer lovers that they can't come in to your establishment. Great job not mentioning that it was a ticketed event when we first pulled up. Of the four of us, none are planning on returning to Brash Brewing. There was another group of four people from Sugar Land that were also turned away. Amazing beer and atmosphere. It is a lot less yuppie than a lot of the local breweries (Karbach) which is refreshing. The place is in an open warehouse and is therefore great in the evenings and cooler months. They specialize in IPAs and Stouts (try the Smoglifter or Cali Green). The bartenders are super friendly and have great recommendations, they also serve awesome guest taps (non-brash beers). The jukebox is loud and plays a great and exclusive selection of metal music. Some nitty gritty out of the way first...the brewery is a little hard to find. Once you see Flying Saucer Pie Co. the road veers to the right and you will see a Brash sign. It is behind some apartments that are still in construction...Just follow the little ally way. Odd I know, but the people that will eventually move into the apartments will either be happy for the convenience, or annoyed. Though, that has nothing to do with the task at hand...reviewing a brewery. Tap room hours are Friday 5-Midnight, and Saturday Noon to 1am I believe. They will have food trucks most of the time as well. This is the owner of Petrol Station's brewery, which was contract brewed out of New York for years (I remember picking up bombers in Louisiana years ago, but they could not be distributed to Texas for whatever reason). Lets see what the guys from Petrol have in store... Anyway, if you listen to the Brash fanboys (is that really any different than the Saint Arnold Army?), you might believe this is the best brewery in the state. If all you care about is over the top IPA's and Stouts while head banging to heavy metal, then possibly. Personally I find them pretty one noted. Not surprisingly, I find heavy metal one noted and with a touch of overbearing masculinity that tries, at all times, to prove how cool they are. Where was I? Oh ya...The location is just a big warehouse. There is a bar to order from, with picnic tables, music playing from the jukebox that echoes, and vintage arcade games. I was a little surprised not to see the Star Trek Pinball machine that Petrol had on display for years. Oh well. I will say the attitude from the bartenders are 100% better than anything I have encountered at Petrol. They are actually engaging and will help out. Along with knowing the beers. Almost shocking. About six house taps, and six guest taps from the likes of Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, and Dogfish Head. The house beers can definitely be considered "brash." The IPA's are overly bitter, the stouts are overbearing and roasted which leads to more bitterness. Though that is what they do..don't tell them otherwise. Which there is a certain respect that I have for that. I just love me some well crafted lagers and more subtle styles. Obviously why I think Live Oak is still the best brewery in Texas. That is not to say I don't enjoy a big Imperial Stout or IPA on occasion, just not my go to (not to mention Karbach BHH and numerous Saint Arnold Stouts are far superior IMO) . That is not to say I don't enjoy visiting. On a low key Saturday afternoon before the crowds show up is a great time. Though it can then degenerate when it gets crowded later at night into people holding their hands up a la Oliver Twist saying "Please sir can I have some more?" depending on what they have going on at the time. Overall, they obviously have a niche, and for all intents and purposes they fit that niche well. I just wish they had more respect for variety and well crafted subtle styles, and not always having to revert to the "look at how Metal we are, everything has to be over the top." I guess that is just my opinion. I will say that understanding the Houston beer scene is incomplete without a visit to Brash or Petrol. Regardless of opinion. read more

Love this spot. I've been here four times, and this time I'd just finished off a 1500 mile drive from Salt Lake. Showed up a little early, and they still invited me in. The flicked on the jukebox and the video games and the spray fans, and then the beer came. Awesome, hazy IPAs abound. Great atmosphere and super welcoming. Interesting brewery. I'm a fan of the $8 4 beer sampler that you get at the other breweries in town, but Brash charges just shy of that per beer. A big advantage for this place is that they are a true independent brewery and make very flavorful beer....very heavy, very hoppy, etc and are not trying to create beer that caters to the masses (like some other local breweries). If you prefer light beer, this is probably not the place for you. Really cool that they have arcade games but I'm not a fan of the heavy metal that's often played. Totally fell in love with this place. I love that they play hard core metal music and have old school video games. They've got a pretty solid selection of music on their jukebox (although they need some Clutch) but overall this place has a nice vibe to it. The warehouse is huge, with one side consisting of the games, jukebox, some picnic tables and the bar area. And the other side is empty, probably to expand in the near future. The beer that they serve isn't what I usually drink, but I loved their selections. Especially the pussy wagon IPA :-) The venue is somewhat hidden; it's behind a group of apartments off of cross timbers, near flying saucer pie co. Just a head's up... this place can be hard to find your first time. We circled the block several times before we found it. It is off a side street, not on the main road. Really love how unique this brewery is. Really cool art on the wall with lots of old school arcade games that you can play. My husband and I had a great time and wasted way too many quarters playing Burger Time. We are huge IPA fans and they had a delicious IPA as well as a double IPA on tap. My only complaint is that they didn't have many of their own beers on tap. We wanted to try more! read more

This place is f@$&%*'n amazing. Not only do they have some of the best beers in Houston, the taproom/brewery is a ton of fun as well. The first thing to know about Brash is that they don't make fizzy yellow beer. Every thing here is high Abv (mostly) and full of flavor. While everything is good, I personally go for the Cali-Green IPA or Abide. Abide is crazy good. Crazy. Good. The "taproom" has tons of retro arcade cabinets and an amazing jukebox. I don't know any other jukebox that has multiple Red Chord and Job for a Cowboy albums. It's just an awesome experience. I'm so glad these guys are no longer exiled from Texas. I'm coming back for sure! read more

Brash does brewing right... the beer comes first. No frills, no lip service, just badass beer... and arcade cabinets! And boy do they know their stouts... if you love dark beer, Brash will rock your f'ing world. Milk the Venom, the old standby Cortado, and if you're feeling frisky Vulgar Display of Power... the list goes on. But they've also got some other stellar styles... the Cali Green is a solid IPA, and try the Pussy Wagon if for no other reason than the name. Oh, and I hope you like metal... that's all you'll find in the juke box, unless you know how to find the secret Beastie Boys album! Brash is unapologetic about their style and focus on beer for beer's sake... and they've quickly become my favorite local brewery. I would rate here a 9/10. The Cortado Porter was really good and the bartender was really jovial and good to chat with. The atmosphere here is enjoyable, with their arcades and large space, which is especially good for groups. The only thing which kept it from being 5/5, IMO, was that beers are $6 each. In breweries that isn't overpriced, but to me, if prices are on the low end, then it feels more like you're getting a great value. But, still glad we came here and really liked the porter and IPA beers we had. read more

Upon arrival I was disappointed to discover that they were out of everything but one of their beers. What a bummer! I mean, I did get to try some local guest beers such as 11 Below Brewing that I might not of had the chance to try otherwise so not all is lost but still, showing up to a brewery that was out of everything was such a let-down! I really want to give this place another chance & I so want to give this place a 5-star review because the Brash beers I've tried in Austin have been amazing, but until the day I get to go back to Houston & give 'em another shot this 3-star will have to do fo' now. read more

If I hadn't of read their road is directly after the Flying Saucer Pie Company and had a small sign, we would have drove past. Their set up in a warehouse with the bar at one end and the brewing process at the other end. They have many old school arcades and picnic tables with very dim lighting. The beer though was very good! We had the Cortado and EZ-7. The Cortado was our favorite and will sneak up on you with it being 10%. Try their beers if you get a chance. read more

Hands down the best brewery in Houston, and my favorite brewery period. This is coming from someone who travels extensively and makes it a point to check out local breweries everywhere I go. Generally they have several iterations of deliciously dank and hoppy IPA's and smooth, chocolate and coffee stouts on tap, with not a whole lot in between. The beers can often-times creep up in ABV content, which is fine by me but pay attention when consuming. Some people take issue with the brewery because it does not offer a trendy ambiance or hipster vibe. Rather, it is pretty grungy and metal. However, the people at Brash are the friendliest and always happy to help you or talk about the beers. The brewery, unlike other institutions, is welcoming and accepting of all peoples. If you have a chance to visit, you will not be disappointed. read more

So, we were first timers here. Sadly - I must say I'm with the 2-Star group for trying out breweries that we love so much but believe were big fails. But first, I always like to mention the positives: I didn't slit my wrists within the first few minutes of being actually inside their joint (but my wife did...that's a different story for another time). But that's where the positives stopped. We hardly could hear what the bartenders were saying to us over the death metal music. I think my iPhone's decibel meter pegged out at 130 decibels, which unfortunately might lead to my upcoming failed hearing test for work, which would lead to my company having to reset their OSHA 4000 consecutive days of being "accident free". I ended up having their "I am The Black Wizards" black ry IPA. My wife, who grew up in Germany would have given this place -3.7 stars with the beer she had- but never finished. Can you believe that? A German not finishing her beer?? However, my most amazing co-captain Jeff, despite their limited beers, would have asked the bartenders to repeatedly play "We Butter the Bread with Butter" and head banged until he puked up the 16 tacos he had before we arrived. But I digress...If you like limited selections of beer, your chest thumping along with the music giving your heart multiple palpations, and soaking in the satan/devil motifs, then this is the place for you!! read more

Loved the setup. Industrial feel with an assortment of arcade favorites waiting to get played. Had a few picnic tables around and has a jukebox where you can select your metal jams! Will definitely frequent this spot. It is in a warehouse of sorts, so in hot and humid weather it can get hot in here, but they do have a large fan that provides that nice breeze. I had the Pussy Wagon IPA and really liked it. Will come back and update this review once they are more settled. Come check it out!!! read more

This place absolutely sucks. They talk a wonderful game on social media and duped me in to making the drive up there. I get there and the best beer they had on tap was Lagunitas Hop Stoopid.
