We tried Bravas Bar de Tapas in March 2024. My wife had tried it previously and highly recommended it for us to try. Walking up, it looks like it may have once been an older home. Super cute feel. Entering in the place, it was a bit comfy but we were promptly greeted and seated immediately after. Quick tip, make sure you make a reservation. We looked over the menu and ordered as we went throughout the evening. We both ordered a glass of different Tempranillo. Great wine. We started with Crispy Bacalao Cigarillos, Marinated Olives w/lemon zest, Romesco Aoili. We also ordered the fried eggplant chips with truffle honey and rosemary. Both of these were absolutely incredible. Do not skip either one of these! Soooooo good. We then ordered the Creamy Chicken Croquettas. Very flavorful and we enjoyed them a lot. I also ordered the Duck Meatballs, tomato sofrito, green olive tempenade. Compared to the rest of our dishes, this one didn't hit as much as the others. I'd recommend skipping this option. We finished the night with the Hot Rum Balls. They came out hot, delicious and exactly what we expected. We mentioned that a raspberry or chocolate dipping option would be a great optional addition to these. read more

We had a wonderful early dinner here on a Saturday night! The food was excellent, the service was great, the ambiance was pleasant, and the restaurant was kid-friendly! Definitely make a reservation in advance - we saw many walk ins being told they'd have to wait 90 minutes for a seat at the bar. Our party of 2 adults and 1 child enjoyed the following (and had plenty leftover to take home with us): 1) Patatas Bravas - good 2) Calamari - good 3) Mushrooms - excellent 4) Spinach - flavorful 5) Shrimp - delicious 6) Paella - good, but not out of this world, as we were hoping 7) Shishito peppers and chorizo - tasty 8) Eggplant chips - amazing! So unique and incredible! This was an unexpected hit! 8) Rum balls - awesome I also enjoyed my red sangria and my husband liked his cocktail. The service was friendly and attentive; we felt well taken care of. We appreciated that they brought crayons and a coloring sheet for my 4 year old. There were a lot of things to love about Bravas Bar, especially the great service and tasty drinks. The food was a little bit of a mixed bag. The Boquerones 10/10, salt cod 9/10, heirloom tomatoes 9/10, pig ears 10/10 and Dungeness stuffed piquillo peppers 10/10 were big winners. Unfortunately the paella was very disappointing with mushy, overcooked rice, skimpy shrimp, tasteless chicken and clams with almost no meat 2/10. The octopus had an odd consistency, tasting almost stewed and mushy.3/10. We also had the skirt steak 5/10 and chicken thighs 5/10. G&Ts were tasty! A friend recommended this place on our recent visit to the Healdsburg area as well as one of the staff over at Marine Layer so we were pretty excited to dine here. Unfortunately, my wife and i both felt that the place was a little overhyped and didnt quite meet our expectations especially at the price point. Im not sure if was due to coming at an off time but overall we felt that the dishes lacked a boldness in flavors. We order the grilled octopus, and i dont think it was cooked correctly as the outside was a bit mushy while the center was chewy. We also ordered the patatas bravas which we felt the potatoes were cooked nicely but the sauce reminded me of some kind of hollandaise which i didnt think paired well with the tomato based sauce. The dungeness stuffed peppers were good especially spread over the bread but the duck meatball was very one note and lacked spice. As these were some of the post popular dishes, we just didnt feel like it lived up to the recommendation. read more

This place has really gone downhill. I have been coming here for years, but the last few visits have really left a, forgive the pun, bad taste in my mouth. First, the service. When we greeted on our most recent visit, in a dining room with three seated tables, we were asked to wait outside for 5 minutes for the server to catch up. They did seat us after a few minutes - AFTER seating a walk-in group that came in after us. Weird. We were seated and greeted by out server pretty quickly. She was friendly and took our first order. The appetizer came out very quickly - our drinks lagged by 10 minutes. The toasted bread with Tomatoes and our cocktails were tasty enough. We placed our second order, and recieved the kale salad. It was an oily mess. It tasted, literally, like it had been run through vat of oil. Drenched. Our plates were covered with oil after the salad - it bordered on being absurdly overdressed. No so good. That was about the time our server disappeared. We didn't see her for a good 30 minutes after the runner brought the salad out. We persevered, and when the server did reappear, we ordered a three plate course for our main meal, and a couple more cocktails. The food started coming out almost immediately. 5 minutes after we ordered, we had patatas bravas, roasted cauliflour, and a skirt stake on the table. It turned out it was too quick. The cauliflour was undercooked, and covered with balsamic vinegar - which neither of us found palatable - the drenching of vinegar seemed unnecessary - perhaps it was supposed to be reduced in the pan when they were cooking it - but it came off as raw and unfinished. The same for the patatas - the potatoes were still crunch - despite having a golden crust. Also undercooked. The worst, however, was the skirt steak. We had ordered it medium rare - and when it arrived it showed it had been lightly seared, but it was raw. It tasted raw, and chewed like it was raw. No bueno. I would prefer it have been overcooked than not cooked. The server never followed up with us after we were served the entrees - we had to flag down a runner to let them know about the raw steak - which fortunately they had the good grace to not charge us for. Oh, and those drinks we ordered at the same time as our entrees? They showed up about 10 minutes AFTER we had finished with our food. Over 30 minutes from "order to table" on those. I'll remind you - the dining room was only about 25% full. We flagged a runner and asked them if they could help us get our bill. There's something fundamentally broken about Bravas now. This is the second time in a row I have this type of experience there - where the food was mediocre or bad, and seemed rushed, while the drinks took 30+ minutes. From the hostess, the server, and the queuing of food and delayed drinks - the restuarant just isn't working right. Nobody seemed like they wanted to be there, and the quality of the food and the service reflected it. I had taken a year off from coming here after my previous experience - and I this one was even more offensive. Bravas is broken, and mis-managed. I expect more from the Stark's Reality restaurants. Regrettably, I cannot recommend Bravas due to the quality of service and the food. There are plenty of other places you can go that will show care in the service and preparation - and unfortunately, Bravas no longer seems to have those on the menu. read more

This place is AMAZING. I've lived in Spain and love tapas. Bravas is the real deal with tip to tail options like fried pig ears that offer unique dining options. I wanted every cocktail on the menu. We found this place by luck on our first night at Healdsburg. They were able to sit us at the patio without a reservation. We started with a cava sangria (refreshing and delicious) and we follow up with a few of their tapas -olives & cheese -goat cheese/caramelized onions toast -- it was absolutely delicious, the bread was toasted just the right amount. -calamari was also delicious (not pictured) -mushroom escabeche -- the best mushrooms I have ever eaten in my life!! Super flavorful -kale salad with lemon vinaigrette-- let me tell you, this was the most delicious kale I have ever eaten -- definitely a variety that you don't see at the stores and their lemon vinaigrette is the perfect combination of olive oil and lemon We also ordered the roasted cauliflower and paella for 2 (it was enough for the 4 of us since we had some other tapas) Everything was exquisite! For dessert we ordered the hot rum balls and the chocolate mousse. The hot rum balls just melt in your mouth. We really didn't care for the mousse -- We went back the following day as part of a food and wine tour and tried their patatas bravas and the eggplant chips -- both of those were also super flavorful. If you like exceptional service, delicious shareable food and refreshing drinks then this is your place. Shoutout to Frank for the amazing service too. What a wonderful find of this award winning traditional Spanish and modern tapas restaurant by James Beard finalists Mark and Terri Stark. This place is not to be missed when in the heart of wine country and Healdsburg. Bravas offers both indoor and outdoor dining, but outdoor dining is definitely preferred in their "back yard". The ambiance is comfortable and relaxing in a wonderfully decorated setting. The food here is one of the best that I've had outside of Spain. We started off with a pitcher of their red sangria that comes close to what I've enjoyed in Madrid. The tapas selection is plentiful and will satisfy any food craving. Everything is prepared to perfection, from the nicely roasted cauliflower, steamed clams, tender skirt steak, flavorful sea scallops and tasty burrata toast. You really cannot go wrong with anything you order. Service was also exceptional. Bravas is a great place to celebrate a birthday or that special occasion. The place is very popular and can get crowded so reservations are highly recommended especially if you want to sit in the preferred gorgeous outdoor and shaded patio out back. We first saw one walking by and asked to be seated inside because we felt uncomfortable and while we were waiting for an answer another rat approached the table. It would have been too much if we order it for four. Lots of seafood and the flavor was on point. Rice is not hard like most tapas place. 5. Hot rum balls (4/5). it was delicious and unique. It looks dense from outside but it's actually hollow inside. Meh: 1. Original bfc fried chicken (3/5). It was okay for me. The picked pepper that came with was yummy and paired well with the fried chicken. The batter and seasoning of the fried chicken was just ok. I probably won't order it again. 2. Patatas brava (3/5). This dish is easily forgotten. I'm still searching the best patatas brava in the state. I wasn't fan of the big blob of the mayo on top. I highly recommend you check this place out while in town. Paella and kale salad were on par with typical. Goat cheese toast was topped with caramelized onions and spring greens, probably the best bite of the night. The chicken had a perfectly crisp skin but itself was barely seasoned, the accompaning garlic sauce topped it well. I called in and was not given an estimated time for my food to be ready. When I asked I was told "I am not sure". Other times, I would have to wait a while (up to 30 minutes) after the time I was given before it was ready. This is not always ideal because I'm usually on my break.
