A bit on the pricey side, but very nice food and a super interesting and large menu. We came for lunch and sat in the back patio area under some lovely orange trees that smelled amazing. The white bubble sangria was tasty, though almost too strong on the alcohol! The cheese plate was large with 5 different unique cheeses from Spain, plus crackers, nuts, crostinis, and jam. All pieces of that plate mixed beautifully together. My fiance and I don't come to Healdsburg very often, even though we live quite close (or far?) in San Francisco. My lasting memories of Healdsburg are spoiled ones at Scopa and Cyrus, fantastic food haunts that are unfortunately no longer around. Thus, my fiance and I had to find another restaurant to dine at during our quick day trip up in Healdsburg. I'll just put it out there: it's hard to live up to Scopa's footsteps. Even though Bravas and Scopa are completely different cuisines, both are in the category of casual spots. I was hoping for the best at Bravas. Honestly, out of the several tapas we ordered between the two of us, only two dishes really stood out to me. That would be the Olive Oil Fried Duck Egg with Morcilla Sausage, Crispy Potatoes & Chorizo Aioli. I did like the crispy and crunchiness of the duck egg - cooked to perfection! And great combo with the crispy potatoes! But honestly, that is nothing new - that is a typical brunch dish. We also did enjoy the pork cheek Bocadillo, which did taste delicious and resembled small sliders. The other dishes we ordered were all mediocre and forgettable: Paella for two (come on....a classic dish....very disappointed here), sea scallops (a la plancha), and fresh gulf prawns. The scallops were a little too mushy. The prawns seemed slightly overcooked. I can't say anything here was absolutely HORRIBLE, but nothing I will come back for. Last time my dad was at Bravas, he loved the meal so much, he swiped their menu as a souvenir. (He still has it displayed in his bedroom.) So of course when he and I found ourselves in Healdsburg, we had to make time for lunch at Bravas. What a meal! We managed to snag seats at a high top in the backyard, but about 15 minutes after we arrived, people had started to queue up for seats outdoors, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. At first, we were going to split a paella, but as we glanced over the menu, we realized that there were too many tapas that we wanted to try! We especially loved the roasted bone marrow, served with cranberry walnut toast and membrillo (my favorite) and the crispy-skinned chicken thighs with green olive tapenade and aleppo vinaigrette (my dad's favorite), but everything we had was bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked - I don't think you can go wrong here. The menu was extensive, the creativity of the gin & tonics took me straight back to the bars of Spain, and we encountered perhaps some of the most reasonable prices we've found in wine country (~$90 for 2 drinks, 2 smaller tapas, and 2 larger, meat-centric plates). Also, our waitress was super, super friendly. I wish we'd gotten her name (I think she also bartends at the backyard bar), but unfortunately, the check didn't list her name. We could have basked in the dappled sunlight of the backyard for hours, sipping deceptively strong and dangerously tasty sangria, working our way through the wonderful gin&tonic concoctions, and snacking on blistered shishitos and juicy, cider-braised chorizo. What made matters worst is that last week, Dragonball FighterZ came out so I was already itching to get home to jump into training mode and work on my team synergy. But alas, it "is" good to get out and get some fresh air. This day I just happened to be wine tasting with some friends and decided to finally get lunch here. My g/f and dad have always raved about how good the Paella is at Bravas so I had to of course come and try it for myself. The food was ok but the highlight was the beverage...I was conflicted about what I want. Did I want Bourbon? Nah...Maybe Rum. Maybe... ... ....... ...........Wait what...is this? It must of been the first time I reread something on the menu more than 50 times. At the bottom of the cocktail list...all by itself...is one drink that reads, "It's over 9000." Done. No need look at anything else. I get the drink and it's even yellow...like if I happened to drink this, I too might become a Super Saiyan. Ridiculous. And the best part is that it was actually good. It made me think about if Goku and Vegeta were on the beach drinking margaritas together. How would a Super Saiyan margarita taste? Well, believe it or not, now I knew. It had a sharp tequila taste like I just got hit with a Kamehameha but yet was still refreshing. The food?? Oh yea...Well the food wasn't bad. I wasn't too impressed by the Palatas Pappas. They were fried a little too much. I feel like they could of been a little softer. As for the Paella, it was pretty good. Pretty standard Paella. It had good flavor. Skirt Steak was good though I'm not sure if I would pay that much for it next time. The really winner this day though was the Croquettes. They were cooked perfectly! The outside was a perfect golden brown while the inside had a nice soft texture and flavor. I actually don't even remember what actually was "inside" the croquettes but they tasted hecka good. Overall, I would come back. The service here is really good. We had a heat lamp on near our party but it was a little too much. Without even having to ask some guy saw my expression from the distance and was like, "Did you want us to turn it off?" And after nodding happily it was turned off electronically within a minute. I really thought that was cool! Food wasn't bad. I would definitely try some different things next time but I feel like some items on the menu might be a tad pricey than what they should be. Everything was clean from what I saw but I really liked the fact that they made a Dragonball Drink on the opening week of Dragonball FighterZ. I was excited to try this place! I had never had authentic Iberico before and it did not disappoint! Also, I had pork cheek for the first time. WOW! I was thinking about that for days. But the prawns on this were really dry and rubbery, so I'm glad we had the better small plate version. I actually didn't enjoy the pig ears. Way too oily. And the seasoning on it had a powdery finish. Service was great. Our server was nice and attentive and our meal flowed well. He coursed everything so the food just kept coming. We only had one round of drinks as I was feeling really delicate from the night before, but I did enjoy my glass of bubbly. Cute little restaurant with a neighborhood feel. Whew where to start? Came here for dinner while visiting Sonoma County for a weekend getaway. Not sure if my taste buds are just highly sensitive, or I came on an off night. But everything was just super salty. The location was a cute little standalone house in downtown Healdsburg. Street parking was super easy to find on a Thursday night. You can definitely feel the fancy ambience aka dim lighting/candles on every table. We made a reservation, but there were plenty of open tables to just walk in. We ordered way too many dishes for 2 people, so I'll list them out: -Ham and cheese croquettes: definitely my favorite, and savior, of the night. They come out piping hot so be careful! -Olive oil fried duck egg: came with bits of blood sausage and potato. Never had blood sausage before so this was interesting. -Crispy pig ears: the anchovy vinaigrette was very potent and salty. I did enjoy the crunch of the ears, but the vinaigrette became off-putting after a while. -Skirt steak: I found myself eating the red onion marmalade more than the steak itself! Probably because it was sweet, and an escape from the overload of saltiness from the other dishes. -Octopus: not a fan of octopus so won't comment. -Cider braised chorizo and shishito peppers: super salty. -Duck meatballs: the green olive tapenade that came with this slider was off-putting also, so I ended up just eating the meatball by itself. This is a great restaurant if you're wine tasting in Healdsburg and looking for a lunch or dinner spot in between tastings! Octopus- they gave us a very generous portion! The octopus was perfectly charred and just the right amount of flavor and texture. Definitely a must! Steamed clams- this dish was a perfect size for 2 people. Really loved the broth! I highly recommend you order the garlic bread so you can dip it in the sauce. Beets- the portion was pretty big for a small plate, which is a good thing if you're sharing with 4 people. Loved the touch of cinnamon which made the dish a standout amongst other restaurants. Eggplant chips- a little oily, but the flavor of honey combined with rosemary was great! For drinks, I had the gin and tonic with saffron and cardamom and it was very refreshing! They have a large outdoor patio in the back with heaters so it's a perfect spot if you prefer outdoor seating. They also accommodate larger groups. I saw a couple of tables that had 8 people. I visited Bravas with my Husband recently and we were very disappointed. We were sat outside which was nice, but we were left sitting for at least 15 minutes before anyone approached us. Once our waiter did, we did we knew everything we wanted to order. We started with the Patatas Bravas, Croquettes, and Pan Tomate. I don't know if we came on an off night, but we had two bites of everything and asked for the check. The potatoes were dry and rock hard, the croquettes were sweet, and the Pan Tomate tasted like watered down tomato sauce. We had high hopes for this place, but it didn't hit the mark. We started with an order of fried eggplant chips with truffle honey and rosemary that was outstanding. An order of Catalian style sauteed spinach with roasted garlic, pine nuts and golden raisins proved to be no less mouth watering. We loved everything about this spot. We dined al Fresca (outside) in their beautiful backyard which has a cute bar on the side, with a giant tree providing shade right in the center. The entire seating area was just beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The food: absolutely delicious! We order Paella which they make to order and it takes 30-45 minutes. They tell you this up front right on the menu, so you know it takes a little bit, but it was totally worth the wait! So tasty!! The small plates we tried were delicious and each one came out hot, and fresh, and full of intense, unexpected flavors. They somehow managed to merge unexpected flavors together and the outcome was exquisite. The drinks: so creative and refreshing! They were a good medium sized drinks (larger than most cocktails, but not too large). They were beautiful to look at and tasted great! They have sangria but we didn't try it yet.. next time! The service: staff is super sweet, and genuine. From the moment we arrived, we could see that the host, the servers, the kitchen staff were all happy to be there and they worked together as a team. When guests would leave, the manager helped clear tables so that the buzzer wasn't over-loaded. They looked like they enjoyed helping each other. Our server was such a kind person. He didn't mind us asking questions about the dishes, or even us asking to customize dishes because I don't eat fish. They made me feel welcome, even though my requests were honestly altering the dishes. They have a giant fire stand outside, and the server told us that on Friday and Saturday evenings, the chef prepares a giant batch of Paella outside and it's basically a dinner and a show.. then they pass out plates for the guests. Came here with a group of 8 with a reservation at 7pm. Came a little early and told the people dining at the table they were reserving for us were still wrapping up (and taking their sweet time leaving). We ended up getting drinks at the back patio and since we had been waiting longer than anticipated, they offered to comp our first round (which wouldve been great if they had told earlier and we didnt already close out our tab). They did promise to make it up to us though! Finally got seated about 30min after our initial reservation which put a small kink in our plans, but it wasnt their fault. We ordered a ton of food with the highlights being the paella, eggplant chips, crispy chicken thighs, and duck meatballs. We also ordered the patatas bravas, scallops, chorizo sausage, cauliflower, calamari, octopus, and fried duck egg. Everything was delicious and we were stuffed by the end of the meal when they also gave us complimentary dessert to make up for our wait. Went to Bravas for my birthday. The food was amazing. I felt they had good portion sizes. The paella is fresh and full of flavor. My favorite dishes were the potatoes, octopus, and egg plant chips. The ambiance is nicer. They have an outdoor patio with a bar. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable about the food. My only gripe is that the bus boy was a little awkward. He spilled food on my jacket and sort of just walked away. There were a couple of other incidents where he place a dirty spoon onto my plate that I was still using so that it was out of the way and he spilled food in my water and again just sort of awkwardly walk away. The Papas bravas had a bright tomato sauce and Mayo. The calamari with salsa verde was well cooked and the sauce was a nice balance of citrus and herbs.
