Ficelle has been on our list for quite sometime to try, we were finally in Winters when they were open recently. Cute little counter service restaurant serving tapas, we decided to start with the Sangria which was very tasty. For our dinner we ordered the sausage and chickpeas, which was absolutely delicious, the prawns which were tasty, the cheese bread and the cannelloni which was pretty tasty. The food came out fairly quick considering they were quite busy. We sat outside in the patio, which was enjoyable and we like the dishes we ordered, excited to come again and try more items off the menu. read more

It's amazing how Ficelle can serve such a variety of dishes so quickly. Within a couple minutes after ordering, food started to arrive. All 8 items we ordered were served in less than 10 minutes. Not only were they quick, everything was well cooked and delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and very casual for such fine food. Not surprisingly, many are repeat customers. read more

I love that this place is unclaimed and still has great ratings. It is truly deserved and is a staple must-go when visiting Winters. I think it is representative of the hidden gems of what makes Winters food such a good food scene. I have not tried anything here that is bad but definitely recommend the chile rellenos and bread with garlic dip. I took my partner now on one of our first dates and it has always been memorable :-) Staff is also very homey and small-town vibes! read more

Wow what a great place for tapas. Came right when they opened and the line was very long. Though there were a ton of people ordering we order so much food and the food came out within 20 minutes. It was amazing. Service was great even though they were slammed. I had gotten the chicken parm and it was great. Don't forget to try their garlic dip with bread. Amazing! The vibe of the restaurant was great and reminds me of a Spanish/Italian dining. Food was cheap for the amount of items purchased. Though pricing is not listed on the menu. This is like fine dining in a fast food type setting, you. Order or get a table number then order but the food is amazing, sort of a Spanish and European menu, put your number they give in your table and then they bring the food to you. Wine & beer beverages, plus their home made Sangria. My favorite dish was the Chile Relleno which pairs well with the Sangria. read more

We ordered Ficelle to-go during our stay in downtown Winters and overall we thought the food was pretty good. From the items we ordered, I'll say that Ficelle is truly a fusion of flavors across Italian, Mexican, and Asian cuisines. Beef skewers: Korean inspired flavors since it had a more sweet flavor profile. Meat was tender and had great smoky flavor from the char. I liked how bite-sized the skewers were. Relleno: Mole sauce was good, but this dish was too spicy for my tastes. The cherry tomato salsa provided was great for cutting the spiciness and added a refreshing note to the dish. Eggplant stacks: Eggplant was breaded, so it provided a nice crunch on the outside. The dish had the flavor profile of a caprese salad with the balsamic vinegar, tomato, and cheese. This was pretty good. Canelone: We really enjoyed this. It was like a crab and shrimp crepe sitting in a savory creamy sauce. Crostini: Can't say anything bad about a cheesy and garlicky bread! Take-out was ready surprisingly fast (15ish minutes), but they also have a cute patio for outdoor dining if you choose that option. read more

Such a fun place to go and try new foods! Definitely need to share with the table. The shrimp and crab pasta was the group favorite coming in second the chili relleno. Beef skewers not pictured were tasty but not worth the price for the small portion. Mini meatloaves were perfect and tasty. Can't wait to go back and try some more plates! Hard to enjoy ones meal while constantly swatting flies, Setting aside the outdoor dining experience, the food was delicious. We ordered the eggplant stack, teriyaki skewers, and a pasta dish. They were all quite yummy. The bread and especially the spread were tasty. One thing that left me puzzled was the pricing. There were no prices displayed on the board, and no receipt given. I had no idea how much everything cost. The charge showed up several days later, and I could not reconcile the cost to the charge as it was much more than I expected . The cutest place to have tapas and enjoy a nice warm Winters evening with friends. The sangria is very yummy and my go to for food is the Chile Relleno. I have also tried their, Teriyaki Beef Skewers, Tingas de Pollo and a delicious Mexican style corn on the cob, which I hope they still have. You will want to go inside, order at the counter, and then, you can choose where to sit (inside or outside). You will find the inside to be small and cute, and the outside to be pretty and intimate. The staff is always very friendly and you can always expect to have a nice time here. read more

Ficelle is a much needed and appreciated venue in Winters. We all love the atmosphere and we have a few favorites that have been on the menu for years. However lately we are wondering who is minding the store? On our last three visits, on a Friday or Saturday, several main menu items were crossed off as unavailable. The drinks refrigerator was empty of sparkling water. When a fellow diner asked about dessert, the cashier waved towards two sorry looking peanut butter and chocolate cupcakes, all that they had. (This was at the beginning of a Saturday night.) There is little variation in the menu and rarely more than two specials. Two many of the dishes, like the sliders (are those buns from the supermarket?) or cold chicken tacos, lack appeal. If you are not in for the Sangria, there are few drink offerings. They serve no nonalcoholic beer which is the most popular beer sold by Whole Foods--in other words there is a huge market for it. We were served a cold appetizer plate, one of our usual favorites, which had been left in the cold case from the night before. The grapes on it were past their prime. Some new energy, new offerings, and a critical eye to the quality of seasonal offerings is needed here. read more

Ficelle is amazing and you simply must go! We arrived at 5 on the weekend, unaware they did not open until 5:30. I am happy we arrived early however because guests were already beginning to wait outside on the patio. Since we had never been we were a bit surprised but thought it a good sign of what's to come. Once they did open it became much more clear why guests were already lining up outside. Your order is placed at the counter here, not table side by a server. So, we got in line and looked over the menu that is written about the counter. They have many different Tapas to chose from as well as, daily specials and larger plates. We decided on the the plato combinado, tingas de pollo, sweet potato, teriyaki beef skewers, and sangria's. The plato combinado was handed to me as soon as I placed my order with the cashier and handed my table number, something I loved! I was also able to grab our Sangria's immediately from the bar and head to my table to await our other dishes. The plato combinado had green beans, chorizo, bean salad, roasted peppers, two types of cheese, and crackers. It was the perfect start. The tigas de pollo and beef skewers were both incredibly seasoned and it was interesting to see teriyaki on the menu so we had to try. The beef skewers were probably our most favorite. The sweet potatoes were also good but simple, not a stand out like the rest of the dishes. The sangria's were amazing and we could have drank many many more than just the two we had. I think that it is well thought out to have some menu items prepared before hand so that guests have instant satisfaction. Oh my! We visit Winters annually, but this was our first time to Ficelle. The food is amazing. 4 of us came here to celebrate a friends birthday and we are hooked!!! I am SOLD! Food her is delicious. We are in love with Chili Chicken, eggplant stack, cannelloni delmar and ajo! All the 9 dishes were amazing but the best ones are above!!! The sangria is freaking awesome . Personally the chili chicken and ajo is orgasmic!!!!! This place is self serve, fun and casual with 5 star dishes!!!!! There is outdoor seating and self serve complimentary water! For 4 our tab was about $50 per person with 2 sangrias! I really enjoyed Ficelle. Casual spot tucked away in the backside of a building. Friendly service and gourmet food for a reasonable price. Their menu is extensive with a variety of cuisines. We tried the charcuterie platter, chile relleno, and shrimp with orzo. Everything we tried was delicious. Overall I had a good experience here. The food was not my favorite - was all very heavy. But the flavors were totally there. Decent wine selection, too. I think they could come down a bit on their food prices, considering they don't have table-side service. They don't even bring you water; You have to get up to get it yourself (which is fine if the bill was cheaper). Happy to serve myself if the price is right. We sat outside which was very nice. Was in town to pick up wine and since we were in town just when they opened thought we we try it. Have heard good things about the restaurant. It was a nice night so thought we would sit outside. You just go in and order your food. We tried the a platter with cheese, salami, roasted peppers. We also ordered polenta with roasted asparagus, cannoli stuffed with crab and shrimp. Food and drink "fit for a bear" doesn't necessarily mean huge portions or belly filling ingredients that require long periods of hibernation to digest. Sometimes it can mean small plates done really well, with properly refreshing libations to accompany them. Bears come in all shapes and sizes, you know, not just XXL. Ficelle gets this. Diners do come from near and far with appetites and expectations, but those may not include eating until the point of no return. Small plates means not having to order too much, or too little. Two people - or two little bears - can easily share three or four dishes, which generally cost $12 or less, along with a few pints of local beer (courtesy of Berryessa Brewing Co) or a house made pitcher of delicious sangria. The menu varies each week, but sure bets for bearlike omnivores include the pork empanadas, the canelone del mar (shrimp and crab in a rich Fontina leek cream sauce), and the grilled lamb with seasonal side (Cordero parilla). Ordering happens at the counter, where you can select both food and drink ($10 corkage if you bring a bottle of wine, from a nearby tasting room in Winters, for example, like Turkovich). You can choose outdoor seating on the wooden deck, which has shade even on a hot summer's evening, or inside. Your small plates will come to table as soon as the kitchen has prepared them. Felt totally unsafe! This was one of our favorite spots to have a drink and dine at, but when we arrived none of the workers including the owner were wearing a mask. I believe this is against the CDC guidelines to reopen a restaurant. Not the cooks, front desk clerk, or anyone I could see was wearing a mask, or sanitizing the tables at least. How can this be done during this pandemic? We will not return until changes have been made. On the plus side, the food was still pretty good, but not enough to enjoy at the dining area. I still want to support this local business, but I hope they improve their procedures. Thank you read more
