Been seeing the Instagram ads so I wanted to support this newly opened establishment and give it a try. Came in on a Sat. evening at 7:30 for a party of 2 - no wait. In fact, we were there for about 2 hours and plenty of tables still open so really good for getting in. Pretty basic/clean decor with good lighting. Nothing too crazy for a kbbq place which means the emphasis has to be on the food. They have 2 menus one with normal selection and a premium option for some nicer cuts. I don't recall what was on the premium, but we tried the regular menu which had a good selection. Service was quick, and the waitress was quick and very nice. She wasn't Korean but knew the Korean names for the dishes which was cool as I noticed a lot of the other customers were speaking Korean. There were some things we had to ask twice for before getting like some sauces and stuff but great service. Onto the food. Not going to lie it was pretty standard, and the meat quality wasn't the best in my opinion. The easiest one to note for that would be the flat iron steak which was much tougher than what I've gotten at Manna. With that being said, I think they're the only kbbq place that offers multiple wrap options to put the meat etc into so bonus points. The soups were a little saltier for our liking. Overall not a bad spot - and they're just getting started. They have a lunch special which is the regular menu more or less for $20 which is a heat deal. Glad to support a newly opened business. Great options for all you can eat! The indoor space was spacious with large tables. We paid ~28 per person and were able to choose between a big selection of beef, chicken, and pork entrees. All the meat tasted very fresh. The banchan side dishes were great, their kimchi was a hit. They also had a good selection of non-meat options including corn cheese, tteoboki, fried rice, house salad. $18 AYCE Korean BBQ subtotal can't be beat. Even with a smaller scope menu, this is a go to lunch spot for sure. Some highlights: - boneless galbi: surprised it came like a steak/actually tender though - brisket/beef belly: go to thin sliced options are excellent, will have to try the thing pork belly next time - pork shoulder: they give you a whopping chunk of meat almost like a steak Other than that, maybe of the other options are decent, not great. The second soup felt like 80% of a minestrone mix, and the rice paper felt hard from sitting out too long. But it comes with soft serve ice cream at the end which is neat. Only tip is service is kinda slow, so don't feel bad ordering 20 things in one go, since you have no idea when they'll be back next. They do have a service robot for bringing stuff which is a neat - but slight chance of your stuff getting poached by other tables if they don't reach you first, yikes! I'm not really sure if it's worth the higher price points due to meat quality (brisket really chewy). Since my last review from two years ago, I would like to change my review to 5 stars! They really improved everything and yes the spicy cold noodles actually tastes like spicy cold noodles haha. The service is really fast and they get you set up right away. Meat and side dishes are brought to the table by either the server or the robot cat. They change out the grills very quickly so there is no burning. Check out process is super fast as well as you can pay on the handheld machine that the server orders through. Best thing of all is the lunch menu which I sometimes go to when I'm bored as it's only 18-19 dollars for KBBQ AYCE lunch :) Also side note: I feel sorry for that server who got yelled by two customers (who didn't even eat there) , she literally did nothing wrong but they were screaming and yelling at the hostess station at her and then they went around to the cooking station and she told them please don't enter the cooking area and those two customers started screaming even louder and I think the man almost put his hands on the server as well. It's difficult to make timely orders, and we were missing multiple pieces every time. The food was okay. The meat lacked any flavors and their "seasoned" meats just had hot sauce covering the top of it. The macaroni side dish tasted like what you'd imagine dish water to taste like. There's a set of utensils, serving utensils, and napkins in a tub on the table. Many of the utensils and all of the napkins had remnants of sauce leftover from the previous customers. Or perhaps from a less than good dishwasher because the individual plates and cups on the table were also dirty. And somehow, none of the grills actually fit the grill. Ok 4 stars for the average yelper I see that on here and one of the reasons why I went. Well I'm sorry yelp community this just can't be 4 stars. The service was not great or even good it was maybe maybe mediocre at best. I waited a few minutes standing around looking like I was lost for someone to seat me. This also happened with another patron I saw as I was ending my meal. I had to literally go up towards the kitchen line for anyone to acknowledge me. I get seated and the table is sticky. The grill got turned on but I didn't feel it was hot so I blasted it and it wasn't an even cool all the way around the grill plate, so it was all centered heat which typically I get most of the entire grill plate to cook it all. Ok let's move onto the meats. They have a decent selection. The bulgogi was the worst, so bland, then their steak of the day which was NY strip was also useless. I tried a bunch of different meats none of them got me excited except the beef belly so I had a bunch of those. Still the quality of the meat like they mention "premium meats" on the outside wasn't so premium to me. Pretty they were not great cuts of meat. Sizzle is by far better. The service was lack luster. I asked for salt and the soy 3 times at one point before it was brought out. I got checked on a few times which was fine. No one asked if I've ever been in or any sort normal conversation to start it off. I'm not expecting fine dining service but let's at least show some sort of enthusiasm. The waitress who served another table was talking to them and engaging with them and all I got was basically an order taker. Ok fine again my meats came fast and the robot thing was the coolest part of all. It's really 2 stars because of the price and the robot because everything else was a bit of a mess. The bathrooms looked like they haven't been cleaned in a few days. The paper towel dispenser wasn't working right. Chemicals and whatever cleaning supplies right in plain sight. Went here on a weekday - there was no wait, which was probably the first indicator. The meats were good but the side dishes were not. The corn cheese had a weird oily taste to it and the rice paper was not fully cooked so was basically inedible. The first round of meat came out incredibly fast which was good. But then after that it took awhile to find our server for a second round. It was also hard to find servers when we needed extra plates, an adequate amount of napkins, or forks for the kids. I have visited this restaurant a few times, and let me tell you, the first couple of experiences were about 3.5 to 4 stars. But this last visit was a real doozy, taking a nosedive straight to one star. So, picture this: I walk into the restaurant and it's like I'm invisible. I stood there for a good two minutes, feeling like a lost puppy, until finally, a woman from across the room hollered, "Hey, you can come over here!" She showed me to my table and placed down a couple trays consisting of small bites (Mac salad, kimchi, radish, potato salad etc). Not a word was uttered after that. I've been there before, so I knew the menu was hidden behind the utensils on a QR code, but a first-timer would have been completely clueless. Now, let's talk about the cups. They looked like they hadn't seen a dishwasher in ages. I was half expecting to find a little colony of bacteria having a party in there. And don't even get me started on the bonchon. It tasted... funky, to say the least. And the salt and pepper? It was so caked onto the dish that I needed a chisel to even attempt to use it. They used to replace the grill when it was used, but this time, they couldn't be bothered to check on me, let alone swap it out. Oh, and the garlic and jalapeno portion? It could have fed a small village of 15 people. I ordered soup, and guess what? No spoon. The chopsticks weren't cutting it, literally. Let's move on to the corn cheese. It was an insult to the very concept of corn cheese. And don't even get me started on the meat. It was like the cheapest, fattiest cuts they could find, complete with extra tendons for that "chewy" experience. At that point, I had made up my mind. I wasn't going to subject myself to any more disappointment. So, I tried for a good several minutes to get the attention of someone so I could pay and leave. Let me sum it up for you: the service was practically non-existent, and the quality was a joke. When it comes to Korean BBQ, I'd suggest looking elsewhere for your meaty cravings. Sure, this place offers all-you-can-eat, but trust me, it's not worth the $37. Especially when you can't even place an order because the workers are too busy glued to their phones or having a session on FaceTime. And let's not forget about those unnecessary robots they have prancing around, delivering food like it's some kind of magic show. Oh, and before I forget, on my way out, I spotted a whole army of premade "little bites presented to the table upon sitting) and salt and pepper dishes just out in the open (covered in a sheet of plastic wrap) on a cart with no temperature regulation. We came here as a party of 3 around 4:30pm on a Saturday. We were seated within 5 minutes. The place is very spacious with big long tables and also smaller tables with booths. They have a little waiting area as well. Each table has an adjustable vent for venting away excess smoke. It is good for venting but it does cast quite a shadow and can make it difficult to gauge the readiness of the meat that's under the shadow. The service here was really quick! Food came out quickly. We asked for one grill change and they did it swiftly. They come back very often so you aren't waiting to order more food. The quality of the meat was pretty good, not the highest quality but to be expected with the price being on par with other kbbq places. Their bonchon was a bit lackluster, especially the kimchi was not very flavorful. If you order the veggies it comes with thick cuts of onion, oyster mushroom which is a plus, and zucchini which we omitted. The egg and corn cheese are good here :) watch out with the egg because it will get over cooked if you don't eat it quickly enough. The ambiance was pretty typical for a kbbq place. This is an AYCE (All You Can Eat) Korean BBQ establishment. Cost is $28 for the basic menu (which includes a lot of options) and $18 if you decide to eat Mon-Fri during lunch time hours. The place has a very clean look and plays a slew of music from 20 years ago. Our party ordered a variety of meats and my personal favorite was the basic brisket. You can also order other items besides meat such as ramen, fried rice, and gyoza. I'd advise against the fried rice because it was not good. The biggest foible of this place is the lethargic service. We were here for 2.5 hours because servers neglected us for long periods of time. Although I loved their $17.95 price tag, the quality of food and service drastically fell between my visits. To ensure the best experience, make sure to be seated near the front of the restaurant or else the service will be non existent. Parking was easy and we were always seated immediately. There were three available menus: lunch ($17.95), AYCE A ($27.95), and AYCE B ($39.95). Personally I found the lunch menu to be sufficient in variety and chose this selection whenever I came in Mon-Fri 12-3PM. Service was slow and we went through multiple stretches of time where no one was eating anything as nothing came out. Our first order of sides came out over the span of an hour. We were barely checked on and had to take utensils from other tables. We weren't given salt or dipping sauce and upon request, our table of 7 was given two bowls to share. =YUM= *Black Angus Brisket: the quality was top tier and my personal favorite. Cut thinly and cooked quickly so it's the perfect starter. A leaner option but the beefiness shone. *Bulgogi: a thicker beef cut that was marinated in a sweet and savory sauce. Was tender and I enjoyed how it wasn't as sugary as other restaurants. Could be eaten on its own and was the group favorite. *Beef Belly: incredibly fatty but I appreciated how it wasn't icy. Cooked well on the grill and a great option for those who want a greasier bite of beef. *Corn Cheese: nicely hot and gooey from the cheese and butter. *Steamed Egg: one of the better sides as it was well seasoned and made fresh. The egg was fluffy and gently sweetened. *Samgyupsal: clean tasting and wasn't frozen. Had a reasonable ratio of fat to meat. Pure pork flavor that needed some salt or sauce on the side to make a perfect bite. *Spicy Pork Bulgogi: had a kick but not overly spicy. The pork was on the fattier and softer side but this above average. *Salad: standard iceberg with a sweet, ponzu vinaigrette. =PASS= *Banchan: not only was this not available for the entire table, the servings were very small. Although the sides rotated, each one has been dried out. The fish cakes and pickled radish were some of the worst I've ever had. *Kimchi Chigae: incredibly vinegary and tasted like pure water and freshly fermented kimchi. Needed some depth and time to render down the flavors. *Fried Rice: would have appreciated some vegetables rather than plain oiled rice. Overcooked and plain. *Ddeok Bok E: the rice cakes were overcooked and the sauce was pasty. The dish felt like it was left out. *Gyoza: strangely was drowned in soy sauce preemptively. Had a mushy pork filling and the pool of saltiness didn't help the overall flavor. *Spring Roll: practically a smaller vegetarian version of the egg roll. The filling was skimped on. I'll give Brave another shot in the future but at the moment, the service and quality of sides are unforgivable. An order of beef tongue gives you 3 slices lol... - One of our meat plates smelled like seafood. Probably stored next to seafood. - KFC was cold. They were very small and there was this sauce added on it for no reason. We had 2 orders and it was a very small portion. - Kimchi was watery. - Kimchi chigae soup was watery and bland. - Glass noodles were pretty sad. - Service was extremely slow with the meats for a Wednesday evening. I'm going to start with all the reasons why this place is not a recommendation of mine. 1) Kimchi is god awful. Just atrocious. Flavorless, zero dimension (yes, lower than 1-dimensional bc the one flavor that COULD have been possible, still wasn't met. Kimchi is at the very least l, salty/savory and spicy. It was neither). I will elaborate. It tasted like cabbage they cut up this morning and drenched in sauce. If you were to pat their "kimchi" off and proceeded to eat it, it is just plain unprepped cabbage. Lacking any effort. It was not fermented whatsoever. Just piss poor. First time in my many many years of enjoying Korean cuisine that I declined when the server asked if I wanted more kimchi. I actually almost laughed out loud to his face but refrained. When a Korean restaurant can't get kimchi right, we are NOT off to a great start. 2) in many many of their pictures from other yelpers, you can clearly see they have fishcake as an available banchan. But it wasn't brought out to our table. We had to specifically call them out on it and request it specifically (fyi, for those jumping the gun thinking, "well, just order it off of the designated sides menu." It's NOT on any section of the menu). That already got me feeling all sorts of ways. The waiter then "forgot" to bring it out. We had to ask a 2nd time. They responded by passive-aggressively bringing out a huge serving of it. It also then proceeded to taste like the effin worse fishcake banchan I've ever had the displeasure to eat at a kbbq joint. Again, flavorless. No effort went into it at all. 3) Their galbi is boneless. IYKYK. enough said. 4) their premium ayce option (A menu vs. B menu) limits you on essentially every damn menu item that makes it "premium." Limit of 1 serving per person on items that are on the "B" menu. 5) This may be my imagination (though it was a consensus among my entire party of 3 who all are veterans of kbbq) that their grill plate size is smaller. Just seem to fit less food at one time. Definitely not verified, we just felt it. 6) pricing. Though competitive with other ayce kbbq spots in the valley, they limit you on steak. They have a daily steak special that is limited to one serving per person. And though it was indeed tasty and high quality, it was thin. Other spots (that will not be specifically mentioned out of respect) do not impose any limitations on steak. So technically, especially if steak is a big reason why you're opting to dine at an acye bbq spot, you're ripped off here. 7) the ssamjung (spicy sauce/paste) is absolutely ABYSMAL. The worst I've ever had at ANY Korean restaurant, whether it was traditional, kbbq, ayce kbbq, a soon tofu joint, whatever. It's like when you get served some off brand bs sriracha instead of the real Rooster Sriracha. Looked off and proceeded to taste off. Ok, now for the postives... 1) spacious, short wait time. Though they've only been open for not even 2 months. So this "positive" may go away eventually 2) they offer rice paper, tortillas, and lettuce for a non meat side item. Again, IYKYK. Lots of people I know won't have to sneak in tortillas 3) service was very good. Even after settling our check, our server continued to check in on us in case we wanted anything else. 4) location. Not too far from mill ave/asu area or tempe marketplace. Needless to say, unless people drag me here, I'll never make a conscious decision to come here for kbbq ever again. read more

Pretty consistent with the average of what you expect from Korean BBQ's. Big hits and big misses. But it's all you can eat meat at a fixed price, so if you don't like something then just order something else. The beef bulgogi was definitely the star of the show. Tables are clean, grills are changed out fairly frequently. The waitresses are kind and attentive. Was particularly fascinated with their robot waitress, who is programmed to the tables and comes out to assist the real waitresses in carrying dishes. It talks and gives turn signals and might have been my favorite thing there. Come here with an appetite and lots of patience- the grills do not cook your food very fast. read more

I love Korean bbq and its one of the few places i would go often when i was living in L.A. i was excited to hear another kbbq spot is opening in arizona but unfortunately this one didn't do it for me. I felt the seat was too far from the table which made it very uncomfortable to eat. We had asked for rice paper and they came back with probably 6 rice papers with a table of 4 people. Everything that we had asked more of came out short. The brisket sauce had more pickled onions and jalapeños than the sauce it self which made it hard to dip the meat in. Also, not sure if it was just our table but we could only See half of the grill because the way the lighting was position it was hard to see if some of the meats were cooked or not. Customer service was great. Our server was friendly and checked on us quiet often. Some of the meats were delicious. Keep in mind this is a soft opening. read more

The newest kbbq spot in AZ. Went with my gf and co workers for the first time. Here are my takes: Food quality: 10/10 I will say that they do offer high quality meats and the meat was the only part. Service: 2/10 Lack of servers and service. Took like 30 mins to come check back on us after we complained about cross contamination due to having raw chicken touching raw beef so that was concerning since my gf has a sensitive stomach + sanitation concerns. Also never asked to refill water or wasn't attentive and checked back in with us if we needed anything. Only one upside was the red haired girl server to make it not a 1 star. Ambiance: 6/10 Good vibes all around and was decently busy. Kitchen looked like it was struggling and was backed up which is understandable. Not much to say here. OVERALL: Just come here for the meats. The banchan is laughable compared to other kbbq spots but the cost of 18 dollars of good quality meat make it redeemable. The first time I came here with a group of friends, and we left praising how amazing it was and we definitely wanted to come back to experience their happy hour again. I recommended to my boyfriend that we go for valentine's day, so we proceeded to make a reservation 2 days ahead of time. We arrived to a lounge full of 30 people waiting, and the manager running around hectic. He explained that his hostess walked out, not a good first impression. As a food service worker it would take a lot of disrespect for me to walk out. Second, we wait behind the enormous line of people. Once at the front, the manager tells us that the "girl" wasn't supposed to accept reservations for 2, and they have a 5 party minimum. This made no sense to me, she accepted couples because it was valentine's day! Third, after pleading with the manager and explaining that we made the reservation ahead of time, he rudely explained that there was nothing he could do and we needed to add our name to the 2 hour wait list (and the kitchen took last calls in 2.5 hours). We ended up going somewhere else after looking frantically just so we could have a nice dinner on Valentine's day. Which by the way, everywhere upscale had a 2 hour wait or no reservations open. Brave Korean BBQ is definitely a solid late night AYCE KBBQ joint. Their prices are extremely competitive and you can't be mad for what you are getting. There is happy hour pricing at 9pm on the weekdays and is worth every penny. I don't think there is a better deal in terms of AYCE in AZ. The service is spectacular, I've been at least 4 times now and every time the service has been top notch. The the appetizers are amazing. I think it's probably the best appetizers between all the AYCE KBBQ restaurants I've been to in AZ. The meet quality is decent and I wouldn't say it's better than other places I've been too. My favorite thing about this restaurant is the value and it's open pretty late. One thing that could use work is the banchan though. The restaurant looks fairly modern and is clean. Huge fan of AYCE Korean BBQ and tried Brave, for the first time. Very nice atmosphere. Our server was very friendly. Among other things, we had Spicy Pork Bulgogi, Beef Bulgogi, Lamb Bulgogi and Shrimp. The meat was of good quality. Great cuts, very moist, seasoned/marinated well and consequently, very delicious. The sides were okay. The rice was not cooked well and not what I am accustomed to, nor expect, from a Korean Restaurant. I mostly come here for the brisket. Imo they have the best brisket quality. Their galbi is also really good. There's usually never a wait which is nice. Service is good too. Only thing that could be improved are their side dishes @_@ read more

Very slow service and they have no knowledge of cross contamination. Our raw chicken was touching the meats. Server didn't care and I talked to 3 girls. Waited 30 minutes to get our food. Go somewhere else! read more
