I really want to like this place...and I do...but every time I come out of the restaurant I think about how expensive it was. Now granted "Fogo de Chao" is really expensive and this place does offer all you can eat buffet and meat for $23 bucks, but the two times I have gone I have come out spending $20 more than I wanted to for the whole family and wishing I had gone somewhere else. In terms of the quality of the food, in general I like it, and there is a good range of very authentic Brazilian dishes, but it is a buffet, so unless you go when it is busy the food will have been sitting out. I have gotten the buffet with meat once and the buffet without meat another time. If you want to have an authentic Brazilian experience by all means try it, because it is authentic, but it is not cheap ;) read more

Came here on a Friday afternoon for their lunch buffet. The restaurant is located on University Boulevard facing the road and has one row of parking spaces for patrons, luckily there were a couple spots open when I arrived. The interior of the restaurant is spacious, there are two sections of the restaurant and the lunch buffet was located on the other side of the restaurant from the entrance. The tables and chairs are simple, clean, and modest. There were a couple televisions on the walls along with a bigger projection of a world cup game during my lunch there. The lunch buffet options included salad, vegetables, and condiments. The main entree options were Brazilian style squid with black beans, pork, chicken, and beef brisket. Additionally there is a separate case of Brazilian style savory pastries that ranged from cheese bread balls to stuffed pastry with cheese, ham, and/or chicken. It tasted like a homestyle Brazilian meal with simple, fresh, flavorful ingredients. A poster on the wall showed the cost of the Brazilian BBQ dinner fare to be $22.90. I'm interested in coming back to try that out sometime as other Brazilian bbq's charge upwards of $35 for an ayce meat fest. read more

I have lived in Brazil for several years and adore Brazilian food. This place is by far the most authentic restaurant I have ever encountered outside of Brazil. The people are very friendly, the food is delicious, bufê livre ou por quilo (all you can eat or per kilo), just like I am used to from Brazil. I go here for lunch as often as I can. I like being able to try different things on the buffet. One day I had the oxtail, which I had never had before and I really liked it. Their Beef stroganoff is amazing. The fried chicken on the buffet is really good. They always have a lot of choices on the buffet, so I can always find something that I like. Having spent six months in Sao Paulo over a decade ago, it was a joy to find an authentic Brazilian restaurant so close to our home in nearby Wheaton. Beyond my own experience, the nearly universal Brazilian clientele validates the genuineness of this new buffet-style establishment. While the vegetables on the buffet were common - broccoli, cauliflower, etc., the meats are an amazing taste of Brazil from fried chicken to roast brisket and breaded tilapia. Beyond the meats/poultry, I went for the feijoada accompanied by fresh farofa. As in Brazil, the buffet cost is by weight or "per kilo". After checking with the kitchen to make sure they could make a sandwich during the lunch rush - indicating that sandwiches may not always be available at that time - Nugget went with the Complete Chicken sandwich. Her first Brazilian-style sandwich, she was surprised with all of the toppings from corn to potato sticks. She found the sandwich rich and delightful. Still, the two items that stood out the most were the pastels and the homemade hot sauce. Pastels are Brazil's version of an empanada, but they are much thinner and much tastier. Many places have pastels on their menu in the U.S., but this was the first that I had one just like in Brazil. Today's pastel options were beef, cheese and ham & cheese. We ordered the beef and the cheese ones as appetizers and we highly recommend them. The ambiance was pleasant with a steady flow of customers for the Thursday lunch period. To top it all off, the youngish staff members working out front - probably the owners - were super friendly. Both found time for pleasant and sincere conversation with us while diligently working. For food, I'd give this place 4-stars. Everything tasted delicious from the grilled steak with caramelized onions to the fried steak, the empanadas and the potato salad. My husband had the buffet, which he said tasted great (although, I'll admit it looked less than appetizing), so that's a good option for someone who wants to try a little of everything and not pay too much. As the other Yelper Opie mentioned, buffet is $8.50 per pound, so it's a good value. Most entrees were under $10, so unless you order a drink, sides, dessert, etc, you can eat fairly cheaply here. For a grill steak, buffet, two drinks, and two empanadas, we paid about $23. Service was okay: the staff are very friendly, but they're still learning their machines and things were fairly slow. This was the first time I attended this restaurant and I am Brazilian and I have to say that it is 100% what Brazil is! The food is amazing, authentic Brazilian food! Savory and tasty! They had various salgadinhos, like fried empanadas (pastel) and more. Aside from that they also had a buffet of Brazilian food and various sandwiches. I had a big family go about 25+ people and they handled all of us very well ! It was a birthday party and we went at 8:00pm and we had the place practically to our selves. Came on Sunday night Jan 20th, 2019 at 7.... the BBQ was closed. Buffet prices just rose to $16.99. All of the food was cold. Nothing was heated. The meats, brisket and sausages, were dry and also cold. Fried plantains were cold. They were out of Guarana Antarctica and just had coke... Food had clearly been sitting out since the afternoon. The service was also poor. Couldn't get dessert because no one would help us. I'd had good experiences in the past but this was awful. read more

This place has great food. It's just simple Brazilian food but the flavor is amazing. The yucca flour on the side is buttery and garlicky, the meat is very tender and well seasoned and the staple rice and beans are well made and very flavorful. If you can deal with a big packed crowd this is a most go! The food is really good. The meats are well grilled and season, nothing fancy, just fire and salt, the way a great meat is grilled. It's a little hard to find your way at the beginning, with everyone speaking Portuguese and no guidance/instructions posted, after asking a few questions was able to find the way. They are all very friendly! Parking is hard, but there's public parking a block away. Seating is hard, everyone gets in there finds a seat and then go for get their food. I am Brazilian and I can't believe I only heard about this place a couple of days ago. It's a Brazilian per-kilo restaurant, which means you can fill up your plate with whatever you like and pay accordingly. They also have à la carte options, but I went straight to the buffet section. I love to sample and try everything. The food was delicious! Creamy beans, fried kale, farofa and the pasta dish (rondelli?) were to die for. It's the kind of flavor that nourishes my belly and soul. We arrived about 8:30 pm on Monday night but were pleased to see it was still open. My son was pleased with his order of the buffet. I ordered a Bife Acebolado which was nice and because I am trying to keep my carbs down, I skipped the rice and potatoes and was allowed to help myself to the cooked vegetables, coleslaw, and salads on the buffet. This was my second time at the restaurant. Although I am not from Brazil, I am very familiar with Brazilian food so I really welcome the opportunity to have authentic dishes once in a while. I loved the sausage, the picanha, the rice with black beans and farofa, the cheese buns (pao de queijo), the coxinhas (mini chicken empanadas) and the brigadeiros (chocolate dessert, paid separately). The price - $16 for the buffet and $23 for the buffet and yummy grilled meats -- is pretty reasonable and young children don't pay (my daughter is 4 and still eats free). I've noticed that other Yelpers have mentioned the food not being super fresh -- I've only been there during the weekend and it's always been pretty fresh, but it might be different during the week. Oh, and service is really good with everyone being welcoming and nice (I speak Portuguese so that might help a little). Overall, I was pretty happy that I chose this place for Mother's Day lunch. If you are looking for a no-frills place with good Brazilian good, this is the place for you! read more

I'm Brazilian, born and raised and moved here when I was 13, so anytime I get the chance to eat a "home" cooked meal, it is a huge deal! I live in Baltimore, and I drove an hour to visit this place last night and was delighted with the ambiance as well as the food. The ladies at the counter gave us excellent customer service and it was certainly worth the drive! The menu consisted of a variety of Brazilian options including sandwiches and Brazilian savory pastries. The french bread is as authentic as it gets. It's the bread you'd find a the corner market anywhere in Brazil. The pastries were excellent as well. They don't skimp on the filling. The cheese bread was my son's favorite. The buffet is authentic as well. Food is sold by weight and the price is $8.50/lb. Not cheap, but not pricy either. For the type of food it is, it's priced just right. The quality of the food was great. The meat was a bit dry but all else was excellent. I was surprised to find we were the only people in the restaurant at 7pm on a Sunday night. It was very empty. Not a lot of foot traffic. I think the owners should consider some live music. Having a guy and a guitar singing some bossa nova might just be what might bring some people in. I also think that a liquor license may just be what it needs as well. Some Brahmas and Caipirinhas would certainly do the trick. I hope they'll drum up some business soon because we don't have a lot of authentic Brazilian places nearby and I'd hate to see this one not succeed. Couple of cons: Parking was very minimum in front of the restaurant and the temperature inside the restaurant was warmer than we'd like. I'm not sure if the air conditioner was broken or what, but all they had was a wall unit that was barely cooling the place down on this hot summer evening. This place speaks for itself. If you're a fan of Texas de Brazil or Fogo de Chao, you'll enjoy this smaller home style Brazilian buffet. Every day is different, which means they have different signature dishes on different days but the staples are always there. They have an assorted amount of salads, pasta salad's, tuna salad's, and a wide array of vegetables to start. They have rice and beans, (pinto and black) various amounts of pork potatoes, chicken and potatoes, beef and potatoes, stews, and the like. Then finally are the array of meats ranging from bacon wrapped chicken, to Brazilian sausage, to Picana, to ribeye steak and the whole nine yards. The accoutrements also include french fries, plantains, cheesy bread, fried cheese, polenta and various other things. The drink menu has selected Brazilian drinks such as passionfruit, mango, orange juice, Guarana, etc. The highest price you're paying for the entire buffet is around $23. You can also get this buffet without the barbecued meats for about $13, which is a steal in it's own right. They also have TVs everywhere and an area for large groups. I pretty much spent the entire World Cup here during the Brazil matches and it was a great atmosphere. The wait staff were great, the service was great, so please don't hesitate to swing by here and enjoy some of the best Brazilian homemade food you'll have around. read more

This was a wonderful surprise! When my friend and I gave up on fogo de Chao, due to price and the need for a reservation we began to look for other brazillian options and happened upon this one. This place has delicious amazing food and wonderful service. The price is more than fair for what you get and less than half the price of fogo and that included all you can eat meat and buffet bar. They have authentic beverages (guarana drink was amazing!) As well as a lovely assortment of desserts! (I recommend the guava de queso, sounds weird but omg... so delicious. Like guava cheesecake )Not all of them speak english but they seem to have several staff that do and they try their hardest to make sure everything is explained well. They are very friendly and welcoming. We even had the grill chef come to our table and see how we were enjoying the food. 10 out of 10 would recommend and I'll be coming back with more friends.
