He was quick to attend to our needs and served us very quickly. The drinks were amazing my friend liked her Gold Rush more than her Strawberry Hibiscus Caipanha. I loved my Blood Orange Spritz way more than the cucumber mist it was just missing something to me. The empanadas were the best hands down. The bbq chicken was very flavorful and the burger was so big my friend and I had to split it in half lol. My friend enjoyed her slides and we both enjoyed the cheesy bread. I've been to this location a couple of times, and the food is good, but I feel like the service could use a little improvement. I recently came in for the all day happy hour and wanted to sit outside on the patio but the bartender told me I couldn't??? I didn't really question why but the happy hour menu clearly says "available in the bar and patio," so I was a little confused. I ended up sitting at the bar. It was pretty empty when I went, so there were plenty of open seats. The happy hour food itself was delicious, and the prices are unbeatable! I especially enjoyed the burger and the empanadas. Unfortunately, the bartender I had was a young man and I didn't find him to be very friendly or welcoming. We went to Fogo de Chão in North Bethesda on July 12th to celebrate my sister's birthday. We made a reservation and were seated very quickly. Right from the beginning, everyone was very friendly. Our waiter took our drink order, and the service was great the whole time. They gave my sister the birthday card they use so all the servers knew she was celebrating. It made her feel really special. I love that you can ask for the cuts of meat you want, and they come out almost right away. It felt like we were kings and queens because the gauchos kept bringing us the meats we requested, and all the other meats kept coming too. We never had to wait long for anything. Our drinks were always refilled, and the staff kept checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The Market Table had a nice variety, but let's be honest, we came for the meat! Everything was hot, fresh, and cooked well. It just kept coming until we were completely full. At the end of the meal, my sister got to pick the birthday dessert she wanted, and the staff came over and sang Happy Birthday. She also got to use the $25 birthday reward that was emailed to her, which was a nice bonus. We usually go to the Virginia location, but now that there's one in North Bethesda, we'll probably come here more often since it's much closer. We had a wonderful time celebrating together, and my sister had a great birthday. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, helpful, and genuinely pleasant to be around. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a birthday or another special occasion, I would definitely recommend this location. I've tried their Full Churrasco dinner, market table sides such as salami and sweet corn chowder, and a few drinks including their lemonade, strawberry hibiscus and cucumber mint cocktails! Their food is decent, cooked well, and overall mild. I especially enjoyed their drinks and yuca fries because the drinks were mixed well and the fries were perfectly crisp. The space is large, customer service is somewhat good, and parking is easy but can be tricky depending on traffic at the time. This place has potential, but I think it could improve on the overall flavor of the meats, --maybe having optional sauces available, and improve on the market table selections. read more

I went for HH! I love that it's all day everyday at the bar so you're not rushing to make it after work. I came around 1/2pm. The bar was pretty full but enough space for me to have a solo lunch. I went on a Tuesday which is their $1 drink specials (2 per person) but was notified that you had to spend $10 on food in order to get this deal. I wish this was explicitly said on their website. Nonetheless, I ordered a plethora amount of options. 2 drinks- one passion fruit and one strawberry. Both caipirinhas, both delicious. 10/10 no notes. Then I ordered the beef rib (bone), the chicken sliders and empanadas. Also very good! I would note that I asked them to remove the arugula before bringing it out and they didn't, so I had to get it remade. But other than that I enjoyed my quick lunch/HH here. read more

There's a couple parking garages around and some street parking. We parked in a garage and walked over. We did make a last minute reservation but didn't have any issues with getting the reservation itself. We were sat pretty quickly and someone came by to see if we wanted mimosas maybe 5 minutes in. Another 5 minutes and we were poured water but no one came to our table whatsoever. I had to stop the hostess to notify a server for us to order our drinks and for the churrasco experience. The rotation od the select meats was fine, we barely saw our server, asked if we wanted the pao de queijo (cheese bread), polenta and bananas. They didn't offer the mashed potatoes. I mentioned that I had the member reward for half off the churrasco price and someone stopped by and asked if we were ready for the check and said he would have me write down the number to look it up. He came back 5 minutes later and just handed the check and walked off. It wasn't till out server came back and asked if the reward had been applied when it was taken care of. We asked our nephew what he'd like to eat after two straight months of ramen, pop tarts and cheese crackers while hiking the incredible Appalachian Trail. His first choice was sushi so we made that happen! His second choice was meat so we made that happen too! Service, salad bar, and meat meat meat! Jay graciously took our picture. I really enjoyed The Bone and Burrata & Roasted Tomatoes. We had to take the burger home because we were too full. When the bar is full, they need more bartenders. I'm still confused how Fogo de Chão stays this crowded, because there is no way the food we dined on is what everyone has been bragging about. For a place that stays packed like it's giving out free rent, the food was shockingly underwhelming. We came in on a Saturday evening to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary and the experience was horrible! Depending on the cut, the meats were pretty good and had an okay flavor, however, EVERY SINGLE side dish we ate was horrible! They were all cold and flavorless. It made no sense to me why all the side dishes were placed in the center of the room on some sort of chilled salad bar. Buffet anything is NEVER a go-to for me. The side dishes that were delivered to our table weren't cold, but equally a disappointment!! We splurged on the lobster mac and cheese, and boy was that a mistake! It was thick, flavorless and overpriced. At this point, I think people just come here so they can say they went--because the flavors surely didn't convince me. The meats were rotating through the dining room like they were on a strict schedule to disappoint everyone equally. For these prices, I expected at least one bite to change my life. Instead, I was changing my mind about why I even walked in. It was extremely chaotic and noisy, we couldn't even have a conversation with one another. Loud conversations bouncing off the walls, people squeezing by our table nonstop, and simply no privacy to even attempt to enjoy your time here. Everyone was literally sitting on top of each other. Towards the end of this horrible dinning experience, I visited the ladies room. It clearly hadn't been cleaned all day. Paper towels overflowing from the trash can, bathroom stall missing toilet tissue, paper towel dispenser missing paper towels, just a mess!!! I had to inform the hostess that the restroom was a mess and needed attention ASAP! At this point, I knew it was time for us to leave. This review is in NO way a reflection of the service we received by our server, Jeffrey and his team,Thuan and Diana. He was attentive, explained the entire process to us from start to finish and was very friendly. He did a wonderful job. The only flicker of positivity we could agree on during this dinning experience. I left wondering if there was a secret menu everyone else gets, because clearly I didn't get the "good food" experience. The hype is the only thing Fogo is serving fresh. if you come here, bring an appetite. All you can eat salad bar with plenty of temptations, $37. A large addition of your choice of meat, $10. By the way no on seconds on the meat, but wink wink, they'll give you more. So we decided to try happy hour at the bar. We both got burgers, and decided to split at order of chicken drum sticks. Let me tell you up front, their humongous burger feeds 2. It it delicious, with sauce,cheese,lettuce, tomato and a side of of crispy parmesan polenta fries. You dip them in this fiery hot sauce, and let them take you places. So great burger but too big for one, and the drumsticks had a great spice going as well. Our happy hour drinks were passionate caipirinha that was a lovely blend, not too sweet, but like so many drinks, it comes with too much ice so it's a lot less drink than it looks. I've visited other Fogo de Chão locations in the past, so I was excited to introduce the restaurant to my husband. This Bethesda location, located within the Pike & Rose shopping and dining district, is easy to find, and patrons have easy access to parking in the surrounding garages. As always, the food is great! Waiters walk throughout the light-filled and spacious restaurant, offering cuts of various meats to patrons. Diners also have access to the Market Table, where they can choose from different salads, breads, vegetables and stew. The only downside to my experience was the lack of service. Our waiter seemed to disappear after taking our orders and only reappeared after we requested our check from another member of the waitstaff. Don't get me wrong, we weren't needy, but it would have been nice if the waiter asked if we wanted water refills or if everything was okay. All in all, I had a pretty good time at this Fogo de Chão location. read more

Since my original 1-star lunch review, I've given this location more chances - one dinner and several happy hours. I've actually steered family and friends away from doing the full churrasco here because of my experiences. But I do like this chain and have been to many locations over the decades as Fogo de Chao gives me nostalgia as one of my first fancier dining experience. Dinner service: Still disappointing. I asked for medium rare, kept getting medium well or well done. Servers insisted on serving me first, even when I clearly asked for medium rare and my friend asked for medium. When the meats finally hit that perfect center cut, I'd either get brushed off or they'd try to spin me a well-done side until I stopped them. One server even snapped, "Oh, you mean rare!" No, sir - I know my steak doneness, and judging by the pile of well-done meat on my plate, you don't. My favorite bacon-wrapped filet? Dry, with all the bacon flavor burnt off. Salad bar? Wilted arugula and sad sides, even with diners still paying full price an hour before closing. Another 1-star churrasco experience here. Happy hour: The saving grace (4 stars) for this location! Great $6 bar bites, free cheese bread, $10 cocktails, and a nice ambiance. The $10 Picanha Burger looks like a deal but tastes flavorless - surprising for a Brazilian steakhouse! I make better patties at home and the menu said ground in house. Even other guests complained about bland lamb chops next to me. But otherwise the other bar bites hit the spot, and the crème brûlée cheesecake on the regular menu is a standout (and I'm picky with cheesecake since I make a mean one myself!). Overall: Churrasco here is charcoal and servers were rude and gaslighting me. Happy hour is value and bartender was always great. Combining both, I raise my review from 1 star to 2. I recall the last time I was at their DC location, they asked around to see what cooks of steaks everyone wanted and maneuvered around the table accordingly. This is strictly for Happy Hour which was pretty good overall. Made a resy and was seated in the bar area, which we preferred. They have all day HH, so no need to rush to get there after work. However, it got pretty busy after 6pm, so maybe getting there early saves some waiting time. We all ordered the $10 Picanha burger and upgraded to yucca fries. I ordered mine medium rare and there was no pink at all, but the burger was very juicy especially the first bite. I care more about a juicy, flavorful burger than temperature, so not a problem for me. Ordered a few items to share: saucy legs, empanadas, and the grilled honey brushed cheese. All were great, especially the cheese which happens to be one of my favorite things at Fogo. So addicting, but $6 for 6 one inch squares seems kinda high. Service was hit or miss since the chicken took an hour to come out; well after we were finished our burgers. It was a good chaser/dessert though. I'd definitely return for HH, pretty good value when you don't want the full churrasco. read more

I have only been to this Fogo de Chao location for holidays so my view may be a little skewed than going on any other ordinary evening. Despite the fact that both times I have visited it has been either Thanksgiving or Christmas, the quality of the food has been excellent both times. The meats are really well cooked, and I like that you can specify how well cooked you want your slice of red meat. The salad bar has a great variety of different items and it is always nice to mix up your meat with well, not meat. The molten lava cake is also outstanding if you somehow have room for dessert. I had to roll myself out after eating it, but it was worth it. The only meh part about the experience is the service. Granted, I have only been to this location when its been crazy busy. Both times I have arrived at least 5 minutes early for my reservation and had to wait for 15 minutes to be seated. The most recent I was there I ordered a glass of wine and it never came. It was a bit disappointing, but am not faulting them at all given they were dealing with a holiday crowd. read more

We visited on August 6 at 5 PM to celebrate our anniversary with a group of 8 adults and 4 children. Unfortunately, what should have been a special dinner turned into a disappointing experience. Our main server was EXCELLENT. He explained everything clearly since it was our first visit, checked on us regularly, and immediately helped whenever we raised a concern. This review is definitely not a reflection of him. The problem was the meat service, which is the main reason we came. We were served garlic steak and later lamb chops, but after that, the meat servers repeatedly walked past our table without stopping--even though our cards were clearly on GREEN and we were sitting close to the kitchen. We watched other tables being served while we sat with empty plates waiting. Eventually, I had to ask our server to please speak with them. He immediately did, and only then did several meat servers start coming to our table. At approximately $89 per person, this is simply not the level of service we expected. We should not have to ask someone to bring the food that is supposed to be continuously offered as part of the experience. Every table and every paying customer should receive the same attention. The most disappointing part was that my wife was still hungry when we left and ended up ordering food after we got home. For an all-you-can-eat restaurant at this price point, that says a lot about our experience. We appreciated the anniversary dessert and "Happy Anniversary" cake at the end, and again, our main server was wonderful. Unfortunately, the poor meat service overshadowed what should have been a great anniversary celebration. I hope management takes this seriously and improves the consistency of the meat service. I did not know that you had to have reservations, but it didn't matter cause luckily we came on the earlier side around 5 PM and they had plenty of seating. Good to know for the future smiling faces as soon as you walk in the door that's always nice. Took wife for birthday dinner with a reservation on a crowded Saturday night. Place was humming but seems very spacious and classy. Lots of other birthdays and parties, folks decked out. We took friends' advice on food strategy (this is definitely a food strategy place). Get a pile of greens and unusual items from the big table...along with items that might go well with seared meat. Roasted garlic cloves, peppers, Manchego cheese, Brazilian street corn. Then eat all the greens leaving space for meats. Oh yeah the enormous broccoli, maybe some asparagus. Then MEAT. So much delicious meat. Filet mignon, roast lamb, crusted pork, top sirloin, bottom sirloin, bacon wrapped steak, lamb chops...geez. But you know what? It was all delicious. One cut was all fat but otherwise excellent. Oh and our pepper shaker had salt in it which they fixed super fast. Really nice helpful and hospitality oriented staff. Most of the food was really excellent but the service wasn't good. I got my sea bass 10 minutes before 1/2 of my 6-person party got their food. Plates sat and were not cleared for ages - like app plates or those from the "bar" you could eat from at the start. Also the $69 steak you had to keep waiting for them to come around and carve more pieces. The chicken was DRY and don't get the cauliflower steak as it has NO meat. It's literally a large chunk of cauliflower shaped as a steak. Most of the food is top tier but service tanks. Gotta up their game for those prices you expect superior service. read more

I had to find a manager and ask him to have the bartender serve me! Then they didn't have 2 of the wines I requested by the glass "oh we don't have that anymore " update your menus! Then I ordered the filet plate medium rare .... 40 minutes later it was well done. First visit to any restaurant in this chain, and it did not disappoint. It was super busy because of Veterans Day - kudos and thank you very much for the generous discount - yet, managers Luis and Fabio were excellent; coming over several times to check, even taking the time to explain the process of how certain cuts of meat can be challenging to cook to perfection. Wait staff were super attentive to our preferences and consistently brought over our choice of meats straight from the grill. The deserts were heavenly and perfect bookends to a great evening of amazing food with friends, and wonderful hospitality. Will certainly recommend to anyone who hasn't experienced Fogo before, to begin their experience at this Bethesda location. Of all of the Fogo locations around the DMV (and also Atlanta), this one was the best experience. I brought someone here to celebrate a birthday and they absolutely loved it. The food was perfectly cooked and the customer service was exceptional. They even gave us a free dessert for the birthday which was very kind. Every server that I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is busy but they have it under control and it never felt hectic. For the amount of food we ate the full churrasco experience was a great value! You can join their rewards program which offers a discount for birthdays and also 50% off of the full churrasco with purchase of one at regular price (after your first visit). What an experience! You've gotta try the full Churasco experience. Unlimited access to the market bar, which has lots of veggies and other side dishes. Then people come around with things of fresh meat. You say Yay or Nay and if you say Yay, they slice you a piece. Most of the meat I've had is so juicy and well cooked/seasoned. A few of em are on the tougher side, but still good, I've learned to be careful of saying yes to too many meats cause they're really filling. Service is always really nice. read more

I really wish they would recognize meat packaged in foil for to-go orders will continue to cook. I placed an order for picanha at rare to medium rare, picked it up, and got home within 10 minutes. Came on Thanksgiving day at 3:45. The first challenge is - there's very little lobby. So, waiting for your table in the cold will be cramped. Brazilian bbq was good. Thanksgiving buffet items were not good. Turkey was ok, but sat out so by the time I got to my seat it was cold and dry. Sweet potato casserole had no fat, no butter, etc in it, so although it had some flavor, the consistency was watery and thin. Better stick to what you do best. Service did the best they could for so many people. It wasn't my best FDC experience, but the meat - the reason you go there, was fantastic!!! Grilled bone marrow was delicious.
