This is a local business and a family-friendly restaurant that serves tasty food with a good menu variety and service. I have been here once only and this review from that visit. We came here on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was busy but not fully packed as there was patio seating available. We sat outside as it was sunny and mild for an October day. We received prompt, friendly service. Their menu options were good. We ordered a couple of iced lattes, Chilaquiles, Volcano Omelet w/ steak and a side of Sweet Potatoes pancakes, and Churro Waffle with ice cream. The food arrived shortly. It looked delicious. The Chilaquiles was the best dish on the table. It was very flavorful. The side of house hot sauce was butt-kicking delicious. My Volcano Omelet was decent. For a three eggs omelet, it looked small but it tasted nice. The Sweet Potatoes pancakes on the other hand were not good. They were crumbling apart as soon as you went to cut a piece. They were dry as well. The Churro Waffle and Ice Cream was an awesome dish. A perfect brunch dessert. If you have a sweet tooth, this dish will do the job. Overall, we thought the restaurant was nice and the service was good. The food was pretty decent. We had a nice experience. Give this restaurant a try if you happen to be in the area.

Our food came out QUICKLY! I'm super impressed with the customer service and the quality of the food. It's giving the small diner cafe feel that's so hard to find these days. The prices are beyond reasonable - averaging about $12/person. I love coming after church with my wife. Tip #1: They don't do grits. Not a dealbreaker. Just know in advance. Tip#2: Pay with cash if you can. There's a CC surcharge.

Went here on a whim on a Saturday... My usual breakfast haunts were packed. It was fine. Service was friendly but slow. The place looked like a regular diner, the ambiance was nothing special. The breakfast food was mediocre but hash browns were terrible. The cinnamon swirl French toast was okay. I would not come here if other options were available. Solidly an okay experience.

Bread & Butter is a cute cafe/diner near downtown Palatine. The inside has a handful of booths and tables to create a quant/personable experience. The staff always has a smile and food is quick to turn around as this brunch hot spot is always busy! I got the biscuits and gravy which was a great portion for myself. The gravy was flavorful and complimented the biscuit well. It wasn't overly carb forward nor smothered in gravy. The side of bacon was not my favorite as it didn't taste freshly prepared. My husband got the sausage gravy skillet which he raved about! Tip: Be prepared as there is a 3.99% charge for anyone using a credit card and the bathrooms are located outside.

The is the epitome of an American diner. The counter, the decor, the feel of this place is just a regular, relaxed breakfast joint. Service was excellent. The friendly, jovial attitude was contagious. The food is typical American diner with rolled flat-top omelette. The omelette was slightly over cooked for my liking but everything else was brilliant! The American fries were cooked completely, the corned beef was exactly what you'd expect, and even the muffin was properly toasted. I would come back if I were in the area.

The brunch was delicious. There were four of us, two omelets (one was split), and the Country Style Skillet. Veggie Omelet: My wife and my mother split this omelet. It was served with pancakes and fruit. When they finished, the plates looked almost clean. They were delighted with their meal. Country Style Skillet: my son has the Skillet. It was served with toast. Again, he was very pleased with his meal. California Special Omelette: I ordered this one. With a milk allergy, of course, I told them no cheese. When it arrived, I quickly noticed the chef missed that. I usually might become upset, but they were nice about it. They brought me a new one, which was delicious. Our server was fantastic. I wish I'd gotten his name to give him kudos. I hope he reads this - he'll remember us. :) Lastly, we are outdoors on their patio. It overlooks the busy Northwest Highway, but it was lovely.

A dump with mediocre food and terrible service. Perhaps the waitress thought she was fun, but it it was just lame.

Chappie's was a random pick for us to go have brunch at while we were in the Palatine area. Chappie's had been on my list of brunch restaurants to check out. When we got to the restaurant it was peak lunch time and the restaurant was almost 3/4 full. We got seated promptly. We took our time to look at their menu and decide as they had a good menu variety. We ordered drinks in the meantime. I got a regular coffee and a Chappieccino (cappuccino w/ Chappie's face, Chappie being their family dog, a Corgie). We ordered a Bacado Omelet w/ a side of pumpkin spice pancakes instead of regular pancakes and hashbrowns, a Huevos Rancheros, and a special of 2 Eggs x 2 Pancakes x 2 Sausage links (instead of bacon). I had the Bacado Omelet which had bacon, avocado, scallions, cheese, and I asked for chopped jalapeños which did not have an up charge. The omelet was good. I liked the way it was cooked. The hash browns were cooked to perfection. They were exactly the way I like them, crispy and soft. They also have me a fried green chili pepper (Chile Toreado) on the side which added a nice spicy taste. The specialty pumpkin spice pancakes with pumpkin puree whipped cream was really delicious. I loved its taste. The Huevos Rancheros was the best dish at the table. It was perfectly cooked with two fried corn tortillas, eggs over easy, fried beans, red salsa, and cheese. It tasted great. I liked it more than my dish. The special of 2 Eggs x 2 Pancakes x 2 sausage links was tasty as well. We had a good experience and would go back. Definitely recommended. Check it out.

First of all the catering food that was ordered was for 20 25 people, yes there are way more guest than that but some came late and here were no more food by the time they came. Once again thats ok because they didnt go there to eat. Example food ordered was 25 people but guest are around 35. The restaurant charged all 35 people for food even tho they only provided food for 25 people. And people who camr and dis not eat are eqsily spotted if staff wanted to count properly and pay attention. They also put out a shrimp cocktail with the buffet that has extra charge and they should have monitored this instead of putting it with the buffet food. Or not put any at all. Drinks was at their own (guest) expense and i feel like the price for the drinks were doubled. Our party had a karaoke set up and at the end they said that if we wanted to continue karaoke we can do it in the.main dining because they needed to clean the section we were in but never mentioned that they are charging for the additional time. Everything was not done upfront and clear and therefore not going back to support this place. Basically food is ok but shady transactions and CLARIFY everything before booking a party.

And Baker's Square closed YEARS ago in SoCal. Missed their pies and baked goods! So imagine my (pleasant) surprise when I found this little place in Palatine! I decided to head there for a brekky on a cool May morning. Stepped in, saw all the breads, pastries, and pies along the front counters- wow. I was greeted warmly and seated instantly. My waitress came right away, and I ordered unleaded (decaf for those in the know). It came in a little pot, ala IHOP, and was really, really GOOD. Wow. Decaf has come a long ways from the Sanka days! I ordered the INN-CREDIBLE V.I.B. which allowed me to order 4 yummy items of my choice - I chose the french toast (yummy and spiced just right albeit w/room temp syrup- not a deal-breaker but notable), a strawberry crepe (totally awesome strawberries, but the crepe was a bit colder than expected); scrambled eggs (always a nice stalwart) and two turkey sausage links (as with the frenchie above, nicely flavored!). The ambience was modern, updated, and felt welcoming and (thankfully) a bit familiar. Brought back some good ol' memories even if only the Baker's Square part of the menu was just pies nowadays. But the Village Inn lives on! And that counts - and I'll return. You should check it out too if you enjoy a good brekky at a classic American diner!

Overall it is cheerful and comfortable but the air conditioning was cranked up a little too much making me want to leave as soon as possible. The service was friendly and attentive although we were seated next to the kitchen so we overheard many of the staff's comments as they were going in and out of the kitchen. One of the waitstaff was clearly counting down the three hours left on his shift. The food was okay. While reviewing the menu you'll like notice the low prices. While that was nice to see you do get what you pay for. For 13 dollars and change I got the VIB breakfast where you pick four items from a few different categories. I chose scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, bacon and half a waffle. The portions were small and most of the food likely only needed to be reheated to be served. We are glad we gave Village Inn a try but will likely opt for a different place next time.
