We got a baguette and the "hippie bread" and we almost ate both in one night with friends. Also their snickerdoodle cookies (well really all their baked goods) are amazing but those are my favorite..thin and crispy yet a little chewy in the middle and just the perfect amount of cinnamon on top! Great coffee, had a latte and was happy, but the prize was the best molasses cookies ever!! Just the right give in texture with a fine dusting of very fine sugar, bursting with beautiful molasses flavor, a perfect companion to my latte. I can only base this on first impressions, walked in a tall man was making coffee, a couple in front of me, no one greeted me at all, or I'll be with you nothing, I thought give him the benefit of doubt, right? Thats $4.25 each and made yesterday at that. Not impressed with the quality. Pacific Sourdough in Waldport is much better and less expensive. Not to mention the rude staff. read more

Delightful little bakery and coffee shop that advertises itself as offering "morning pastries, simple lunches," off Highway 101 in Yachats, and nearly worth the 150 mile drive down from Portland. The bread and baked goods we tried were delicious, varied, fresh, and prepared with obvious care. Charming shop, extremely cordial staff, very hip in a unique and quiet way. The shop takes it name from a line in a speech by early 20th century labor organizer Rose Schneiderman, who argued that workers have a right to something more than subsistence wages. "The worker must have bread, but she must have roses, too." This inspired the union song "Bread & Roses." Whatever your politics, get there early. After they open their doors the shop fills up with hungry diners and the store's delicious baked goods sell out quickly. read more

I enjoyed the flakiness of the salmon shmear pastry and the dill infused in the crust. The shmear itself was light and the salmon still peeking through. I also very much liked the almond croissant with the buttery and flaky ends, mildly sweet center filling and beautiful presentation. The regular croissant, with more bread-like texture and lack of layers couldn't compete, so that would be something I would recommend to skip on. I also purchased the gorgeous cinnamon rose, but it's for a friend, so I didn't get to taste it. My husband thought the scone satisfactory but didn't elaborate. Here's the deal: I've visited Yachats many, many times in the last 15 years or so, usually on holiday weekends, and this bakery is always closed. I like to walk around town in the early morning, so it's not a situation where the fabulous baked goods sell out early. They just aren't open. I knew from the moment I saw the decor, this may be a small business I would love to support, I was not wrong. We decided to have breakfast at this popular bakery one morning and were fortunate to score a table just before a long line formed at the door. The is a display case of freshly baked goods that will wet your appetite. There is no table service and ordering at the counter seemed to take an inordinate amount of time. We both chose a celestial snail pastry with lemon curd topped a few blueberries plus sliced strawberries and nectarine that looked oh so inviting, but ultimately proved to be rather bland. read more

There's no better place to go after a long walk on the beach than Bread & Roses for a pastry and coffee! Really hit the spot. I especially loved the snail shells, which I had twice! The coffee cake looks fantastic but is a little bit disappointing, moist, dense but not nearly as flavorful as the snail shell. Had a cup of soup which wasn't as good as my own, but it comes with the bread so that's a plus! If you're gluten-free, though, you're out of luck. Nothing gluten-free to be found here. Little bit on the pricey side for the Oregon coast, but the staff is really nice. And the space is small and cozy, a good place to make new friends. read more

What a fabulous find on the Oregon Coast! Yachats is one of our favorite vacation destinations and this bakery is one of the things that makes us excited about visiting! It's small, eclectic, and friendly with a huge variety of coffee, pastries, desserts, and savory foods. We love the chocolate brownies, Salmon and meat/cheese croissants, homemade pizza, and blueberry muffins. Their cupcakes are beautiful with unique flavors. It's fun to watch the pastry chef roll out the dough while his adorable dog sleeps under him. There is mostly outdoor seating and not much of it so be prepared to take your food to go and stroll down to the ocean for scenery. We love it! read more

I had the maple pillow and was eyeing the Celestial Snail which is a pastry with lemon curd. This place has been my go-to every time I visit Yachats. I have recommended it time and time again to anyone headed there. Well, NO MORE. After spending the weekend in Yachats with friends, we stopped to have brunch and then visit the farmer's market before heading back to the valley. While my friends were shopping, I thought I would pop into B&R and treat myself to a Mayan Coffee to take with me on the road. I've done this many times. No big, right? I said to the guy, btw I want that to go. He pushed a giant filled coffee cup towards me and says, "we do not make our espressos to go. We believe that you should sit and enjoy your coffee here for the best experience." I'm like, "are you kidding me?" He just stares at me. I am blown away. After all, this is a coffee shop, not a Buddhist temple. I look at him. I look down at the coffee. And I pushed it back toward him and said, well, then give it to someone else and I walked out. I will never go back again and I will never recommend it again. I'm so pleased this cafe and bakery is only a couple minutes walking from our rental. Chocolate croissant was yummy - could have used just a LITTLE more chocolate for my taste - but that's just nitpicking. My husband loved his berry filled "bubble cake." I had a bite and it was delicious - so much fruity goodness. The brewed coffee was good, I'll definitely come back again to try an espresso based drink. I visited this bakery on the day they re-opened after having closed for COVID restrictions. For someone who loves pastries and bread, this place is Nirvana! I had a purpose in mind-to find cupcakes or another dessert for my daughter's birthday. They had a unique offering- thick slices of cake filled with ganache and covered with a delicious icing!
