The bread basket of Jackson on Scott Lane is a Mexican bakery with menu items ranging from tortas to meat sandwiches cakes and pastries. I have been past this establishment many times have never been until today. When I walked in the store was clean and bright but nobody greeted me. There were prices for such items as coffees and sandwiches but I did not see any prices for pastries and the labels detailing what the pastries are were faded and illegible. I was extremely surprised that a single bread roll costs $4 like I understand this is Jackson but that is just robbery. My pastry was also dry and there was nothing special about it. Even at the cash register nobody asked me how my day was going they just said "is that it? I wish I had felt more welcomed and had a better experience because I like supporting small businesses but I wish my experience was better. read more

Google said it was 395 steps from our hotel to their front door, so it was an easy choice for a morning walk to a bakery. Lucky us for finding this little gem. We were in Jackson for 4 days and we found ourselves in The Bread Basket 3 times. It's a Mexican bakery and we tried just about everything in the cases. We bought a bunch to take home with us and share too. Everything was so delicious. My favorite was the flakey pastry with spiced apple filling. They don't skimp on the filling! It was perfect. We also brought home a bunch of tamales, oh my gosh, they are sooo good try the Salsa Verde con Pollo. Spicy deliciousness. Because everything in the national parks were closed, if you're going to be in the park all day you must bring your own food. We ordered their sandwiches for one of our Yellowstone trips. (BTW Yellowstone was virtually empty of people, see my review for Yellowstone for more info). The sandwiches were gourmet wonderful. I ordered the turkey with pesto, brie and dried cranberries on a fresh ciabatta type bread. Perfect. The staff is friendly, the shop is clean. read more

This little off-the-beaten-path Mexican bakery has some tasty treats. No hipster frills here, but some great items. The warm cream cheese and jalapeño stuffed roll was super and the slice of pound cake was moist and fresh. They have lots of Hispanic baked goods, nothing much is labeled, but they're happy to tell you what they are. I look forward to trying one of their reasonably-priced veggie sandwiches next time. read more

Cute little bakery with a Mexican flair. We were staying at the Super 8 and decided to vary from the free continental breakfast at the hotel and try out something local. We ordered a variety of sweet pastries, including donuts, a muffin and pastry cream-filled croissant. All were tasty and reasonably priced. Donuts were $1 and fancier pastries and muffins were $1.75. Flavor was good but not outrageously delicious. They have a small raised bar area for eating, and so we ate there and watched the locals as they came to the butcher shop next door. We would probably return if in the area again. read more

A hotel employee told me about this little bakery, when I asked about picking up a quick lunch before heading to the airport. I was looking for something "lighter" yet with decent protein. I ordered the Roasted Pepper sandwich, It was great! Freshly baked bread, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, basil and balsamic. They also have a wide array of pastries (I did not try any, but they looked great.) I would highly recommend The Bread Basket to anyone visiting Jackson Hole. read more

I will keep this review short and sweet. We were in the area and looking for something quick before our way out for some hiking. We decided to check it out as we saw a couple of reviews on yelp and boy am I glad we did. They have awesome croissants, for like less then $2. I got a plain one, then decided to add another one with chocolate inside. We also got a couple of veggie sandwiches, which fresh mozzarella and basil. Everything I ate was 5 star worthy and I can't believe the prices are so low, compared to the rest of Jackson. Definitely go check it out if you're looking for something to go. Came here to get some goodies for my business client. Parking is horrible, the baker was late, and let me know. This was apparent since they were supposed to be open for an hour already and the cabinets were empty, the baked goods were on a tray rack in the middle of the room still cooling. I ripped through what I needed as fast as I could. When I finally got to enjoy one of the sugar coated croissants, HEAVEN!!! Oh, WOW! I cannot accurately describe the faint flavor of coconut baked into those fluffy layers, outside was crisp and slightly chewy, inside buttery softness, lightly sweet with those delish sugar crystals on the outside. Literally HEAVEN! I would have given 5 stars if the baker was on time and I had more pastries to choose from. But-if you come to Jackson, this place is a MUST! read more

The first time I tried anything from the Bread Basket was when a friend/client brought me a little brown bag with two delicious chocolate macaroons inside...so wonderful. This little shop has a spanish/french husband and wife team behind it which make for a very unique pastry experience! The prices here are fantastic! In conjunction with breads and pastry items, you can also order sandwiches here, although I've only tried the peanut butter & honey off of the "sweet sandwich" menu. Only $2.50! I do think that the meat sandwich variety is more in the norm $6.50 price range. The espresso and hot chocolate looks tasty, but I haven't tried either. There are a couple of reasons this place didn't get my five stars. 1.) They don't except credit or debit cards with no clear sign indicating this fact. And I couldn't really understand the girl behind the counter very well as she was trying to explain this to me. Good thing I had my checkbook with me. 2.) You have to wait a long time to get your sandwich...I mean much longer than you should have for something simple like PB & Honey. Also they don't have a clear "Order Here" & "Pay Here" line system. There's really no system for that at all and with only one person behind the counter it can be frustrating and take a bit of time to get everyone straightened out. 3.) No names or signs in front of the pastry items - you have no idea what it is you're buying, especially if it's your first time! This is kind of a fun game...I guess you never know what you'll go home with. Try the rectangle-shaped chocolate chip muffins and the chocolate macaroons! read more

The Bread Basket is great for so many reasons. They have the best churros I have ever tasted and so many more delicious pastries and breads made everyday. Their selection is also great and they have so many items to choose from to make anyone happy. Their sandwiches are also delicious. They are all made on their fresh bread and are so affordable. They have great combinations like Chipotle Raspberry Chicken, Roast Beef, vegetarian combinations and items kids would love. I think the most expensive sandwich is $7.00, which makes them extremely affordable in Jackson. I only gave them four stars for the same reasons mentioned int he first review, They only accept cash or check but there is nothing indicating this until you checkout. It would be nice if they would have a sign on the door or above the cash register or on the menu. Also, they is no where to sit and eat, there food is to go only. I know they are limited on space, but it would be nice to have a couple of tables if you wanted to eat there. read more

Called in and ordered a birthday cake for my husband as we were staying across the street at the Lodge. Lady on the phone was super helpful and the cake turned out super yummy. Ordered a tres leches with strawberry filling - it was pure heaven. Also picked up some of their baked goods, highly recommend their almond croissant and chocolate croissant. read more

Great place, nice to find a budget-friendly eatery in Jackson. I had the vegetable thai sandwhich, it was a bit bland, but the great selection of sweets made up for it. This is a great to stock up before a hike or ride up the tram. Note: they don't take amex And don't park on the side of the building, where the florist is, that isn't the bakery's parking. read more

I echo some of the thoughts others have mentioned... but if you have time to wait and an adventuresome palate, you can't go wrong! Try the Chicken Manchego sandwich and take some churros and mini baguettes home for the family. Yum. read more

This is a fantastic little bakery on the south end of Jackson. It is a bakery with Hispanic flair--something I have personally never seen before. I ordered the chicken Oaxaca torta and it was delicious. The ingredients were all fresh. The only downside was that it did take a bit of time for us to get our food.
