Stop by one of my favorite German Bakery & Café in Cape Coral. It was lunch hour, but I opted for pastries and Cappuccino instead my favorite German Meatloaf (leberkase in a fresh Kaiser roll) or Schnitzel Baguette or Avocado Toast! Vanilla cream pastry and cheese pastry are flaky and light. The Chocolate Hazelnut filled Croissant is one of best in Fort Myers! With a small Cappuccino, this hit the spot! This is a lovely, family owned German bakery and restaurant. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful and the restaurant was immaculately clean. We went back to Bread Pete today for their delicious breakfast special. An egg sandwich with meat, cheese and coffee for $6.99! This place popped up on my husband social media and we decided to check it out . It was delicious!!! The bratwurst & sauerkraut made me do a happy dance in my seat it was so good. My husband could not wait to take his first bite, hence why the pic of his Kaiser Schnitzel has a bite taken already ! Not pictured, my daughter had the Kaiser Nutella and we got some pastries and pretzels to go after we ate. (Which we have already eaten at home and they were so yummy) . Staff were friendly and nice. We are always on the lookout for a good place to eat and we're expensive drawn to family owned businesses. We stumbled upon this business. We came in and we were unsure of what the etiquette was since it looked like it was self serve, but there was tables. We asked and we were told we could sit. We sat for about 10 minutes before we asked someone for menus. Might I add the place was extremely busy. We got this feeling they were very much understaffed for the crowd and online orders they had. If it wasn't for the owner personally being so apologetic, and coming over to check on us, I think my husband would have said let's leave. Our food was exactly what we ordered and tasted great. Overall the warmth and sincerity from the owner made a real difference, and we are glad we stayed. We hope they get more help to keep up with the amount of customers they have in the future. read more

It was my first time at Bread Pete German Bakery and it was delicious. The pastries were decadent, with several choices. My omelette was perfect and the hash brown was crispy. We are staying at an Airbnb nearby and decided to stop in for a quick pastry on our way to the grocery store. Super friendly and attentive service where everyone is referred to as "Sweetie" or "Dear". Easy to get to location right off the main drag. The restaurant was casual and fairly basic, but the pastries we had were top notch. Very tasty, light and flaky. Others ordered more substantial breakfasts off the menu and they looked really good if you need a more complete meal. I can see why the locals like it. Definitely worth a stop in. read more

A really nice german bakery and breakfast place. It's fairly basic omlet sandwiches and omelets. But very tasty. Bakery items are excellent and the coffee was really good! It's a nice clean restaurant. What was exceptional was the service-it was a little slow going when i walked in but there was only 2 ladies there. Once she realized that and had a moment she was amazing and so helpful! The services is what always takes me back to be honest with you and they were great! Definitely worth a visit! read more

The bakery here is amazing - I got an almond and chocolate croissant and they were both perfectly crispy and soft the cafe is cutely decorated and the breakfast menu is very simple. We sat down for breakfast and also ordered the breakfast lox and avocado toast. The food was pretty basic and easily something you could make at home. The iced coffee was very terrible, and my friends ordered English breakfast tea but it was unexpectedly served decaf. I'd recommend getting pastries to go and skipping the sit down cafe and beverages. read more

What a great find. Fresh baked German bread and pastries. We had the sausage, egg, and cheese on a fresh Kaiser roll which was very good for breakfast. We tried a variety of sweets and the cinnamon swirls and the little jam filled buns were tasty. We went back for lunch and had a very filling Philly steak sandwich and the best potato salad. Very nice and clean place to eat in or to get a carry out. We have been there 3 times in two weeks and plan one last trip before we leave. read more

We were there around 1230 & their bakery case was pretty sparse so I'd imagine you'd have to get there early on to see what all they actually carry. This is one of our favorite spots, & less then a 5 minute walk from our house. I believe they are open for breakfast & lunch. We have only ever had breakfast here. The breakfast sandwiches are always good, & have always been consistent in taste and quality. They have a big assortment of fresh baked breads, rolls, and pastries. Wow! What a hidden gem! Recently renovated interior is beautiful. Immediately greeted by the friendly staff when I walked in! They offer table service but being a newbie I ordered at the counter. Lol. The food is amazing! I got the Bread Pete specialty sandwich which is turkey, ham and salami pressed on their fresh baguette with provolone cheese, lettuce tomato and mayo. They offer other cheese options cucumber but this was my order. :) I also had to try their potato salad and so happy I did! I will definitely be returning many times!!! read more

Came here with family after a trip to Cape Coral. Cute mom and pop style place with lots of baked goods and a few breakfast items. Lots of imported German food items. I wish we went earlier because the baked goods were picked over leaving us just a few options. We tried the cinnamon swirl and the chocolate croissant all was delish! I had the sausage egg and cheese on a Kaiser roll. 10/10 recommend. This type of breakfast sandwich is common in deli's in New York on Long Island so I was thrilled to find this place. Service was good, they brought out the wrong sandwich to me and quickly took care of it without issue. If I lived in town I would come here once a week for a loaf of bread and a breakfast sandwich. read more

More than just a bakery (which by itself is excellent), Bread Pete has cooked breakfasts too. We stopped in this morning and as we went down their short cafeteria-style line and grabbed a pastry or two, at the end we ordered breakfast. They have cooked lunches too but that would be later in the day. My brother got the eggs and bacon and hashbrown breakfast. Very nicely cooked bacon, the eggs were perfectly over easy as he enjoys. I decided to go Continental this morning and had a nice German-style breakfast with sliced ham and turkey and salami with a tart cheese. The seeded rolls with it were very fresh out of the oven. Yum! While I'm not usually one to have dessert with breakfast, how could I say no to this chocolate croissant? It was perfectly flaky with plenty of stuffed chocolate inside. Delish. read more

Wow. Real German food. Thank you. So I would give them 4 1/2 stars but no option. I had the special goulash. Fantastic. It's like my Grandma made. The boiled potatoes made to perfection. The homemade breads are wonderful. The downside is that they may or may not have a special. So it only leaves you with a sandwich or a meat plate for a choice. This low selection is the only reason for not giving them 5 stars. Also the fact that it's a gamble if you can actually order one. What a shame. The food is so good. If you know what real apple strudel should be you'll be so happy. The best strudel in SW Florida. Not too sweet. Not too tart. Made with a paper thin dough. A few raisins inside as well. I would suggest you try this place if either you speak German or love traditional German food. read more
