Came across Breads on the east side and picked up some goodies!! They have a wide assortment of pastries and sandwiches - we got their croissant, chocolate rugelach, apricot/plum shortbread, and baguette! Can start by saying that their baguette is lovely, fluffy on the inside and crisp on the surface, and it tastes amazing when warmed up with a bit of butter. I personally liked their plum shortbread the best as it had a hint of sourness complementing the sweet pastry - the apricot was good as well I just prefer plum over apricot - I also personally love a mealy crust and since it had jam in the middle it was soft and moist without being soggy. The chocolate rugelach I think is more of a hit or miss as for me, it was a little too greasy and the chocolate overpowered the pastry (it was like 80/20) but some may find it nice and decadent. Service was nice and they have plenty seating inside!

I tried the Breads near Midtown, so I knew what to expect: deliciously well executed pastries and breads. We got various items including the almond croissant, cinnamon roll, and black and white cookie. The almond croissant is something else and easily one of my favs. Full of pure almond paste, the croissant it self has that croissant crisp with and added component of caramelization that brings the it to another level. The cinnamon roll was amazing too with its delightfully light fluffy bite. Furthermore, the cookie, which was more akin to a cookie-shaped croissant, was simple and had all the essence of a traditional black and white but better. Service was fast and friendly, shout out to the gentleman serving babka samples (which btw, so tasty!). Ambiance is very much in line with what you'd expect with a bakery. The bread is the star of the show! Good ample seating.

Their flakey black and white cookie was truly to die for. I am not a huge fan of black and white cookies because I always find the cake to be too cake-y and sweet. Couple that with the sweet frosting and it's overload for me This "cookie" was the perfect blend of buttery flakey pastry and sweet frosting.

I recommend this Bread Bakery if you are in the area. The coffee is delicious. Also, there are many dairy and non dairy options. They charge $3.54 for a cup of coffee to stay and it includes one free refill. During my time there, I was surrounded by a woman on her laptop and a nanny with a child. I had to have my airpods on while I was studying. Hence, I give this establishment 4 out of 5 stars.

Came here for the cinnamon rolls, stayed for the fresh baked baguette. The cinnamon rolls are not the traditional kinds with the icing, but rather covered in cinnamon sugar, and I honestly really liked it. Coffee is decent as well, and they have a good amount of seating, so you can sit and enjoy your treat for a while.

Smoked Salmon on Rye

Stopped in for a quick breakfast before exploring the Upper East Side. Service was very quick and the staff answered our questions. I got the Smoked Salmon on Rye, and despite looking a bit small, it was perfect! Delicious salmon (no slimy icky bits), tasty onions and cucumber slices, and the slice of rye was a good base for it all. Filled me up!

Have heard a lot of hype surrounding Breads Bakery's chocolate babka and it did not disappoint! The staff were super friendly and provided recs for storing it (not that it lasted long because it was devoured quickly) but it kept well through plane travels and was perfect even after being stored in the freezer. The dark chocolate was decadent and really shined through with each layer of fluffy dough. Also tried their chocolate rugelach which were so flaky and soft. They really knocked their use of chocolate out of the park with all of their pastries. Of course, had to try their black & white cookie which are only offered at the UES location - flaky, balanced and also great, but remain hugely partial to the babka and would go back just for that. Got everything to-go, but they do have a nice space for seating in the back!

I went to breads bakery for the black-and-white cookie, they ran out the first day. I went back because I heard how good they were and it was so worth it. It's a cookie with a croissant. Hard to describe but delicious delicious. Delicious. You can tell the locals frequent this bakery. Friendly people. So many choices. The hand sandwich options looked so delicious. If I lived in this area, I would never buy bread in a grocery store again. They have seating in the back.

This was a nice stop during my NYC trip. The hot chocolate and mocha here is top tier. There's also a great selection of baked goods.

Fantastic hamantachin! Great Israeli and Jewish bakery items in a casual cute atmosphere on the UES.

I have been really in the mood for a good babka and I decided after hearing about this place for a while to finally try it. The UES location is the closest one I could find and I'm happy I made the trip there. Although I could've purchased the whole store since everything looked so good I didn't and I decided to go with of course the chocolate babka which was so rich and definitely had a lot of delicious chocolate inside of it. The chocolate rugelach which may be the best chocolate rugelach ever (definitely haven't had such a good rugelach in a long time) and the black and white cookie which was SOOOO GOOD! I also did get a Baguette which I had the next day and it was still pretty fresh and delicious. Service was quick but I did get inside right before the line got real long behind me, they seem to still have a good system on getting people in and out quickly. I would definitely return to this location and try the almond croissant and the cheese rugelach next time.

CHEESECAKE BABKA. My two favorite things!!!

Over the past two years, everything I've ever gotten from Breads has been excellent. The prices are definitely on the steeper side, but it's absolutely worth it if you're looking for a treat. I come here sometimes on my morning commute, and their scrambled egg sandwich on a sesame brioche bun with Gruyère and chives hits the spot every time. They make a really good latte as well. I've gotten their olive and Brie sandwich before, as well as their Tunisian sandwich, which is absolutely an undertaking that will leave you stuffed. Their egg salad sandwich is pretty decent as well. All of the sandwiches are made on their delicious home made buns and bread, which really take their stuff up a notch. Breads is also an amazing place to pick up special occasion desserts and delicious pastries. My family loves everything babka, including their chocolate babka, limited edition savory bialy babka, and the MOUTHWATERING cheesecake babka that they're selling now. The latter is so soft and delicate yet rich and addictive. Of course, the chocolate rugelach are fantastic, and so are the limited edition cheesecake rugelach. These bite sized pastries are also perfect for kids and babies, who I've seen eagerly munching on them. The cinnamon buns are more like a croissant than a bread, but delicious all the same- covered in cinnamon sugar and deliciously chewy. Their potato and spinach bureka are flaky and savory, perfect for a snack or smaller breakfast. The palmier cookies are so buttery, sweet, and honestly addictive. They also have outstanding holiday offerings, most especially their fresh latkes and sufganiyot before and during Hannukah. Last year I must've bought a dozen of their passionfruit sufganiyot, and this year my favorite flavor was strawberry. Breads also has hamantashen in all different flavors for Purim, from chocolate to matcha. All of their holiday baked goods can be purchased at a different counter to the side, away from the main glass display cases. The staff here are very very patient and efficient, which I applaud considering the rather *particular* (snobby and rich) upper east side clientele they have to deal with. They keep the place running smoothly, and very clean and pleasant. While there are many tables and chairs inside, this place is really more of a fully operational and no-frills bakery, with a fast moving checkout line and products flying off the shelves.

Where do I start! I ordered specifically at this location because of their black and white croissant cookies filled with chocolate. They are Devine! I brought home some chocolate babka which is so chocolaty and buttery I bought 2, chocolate cake is amazing very chocolaty as well. Cinnamon roll made from a croissant was delicious. Love love love the cheese straws and the rugelach. Will be ordering again next time I come to the city. Very easy to order and the staff were friendly and helpful!

I've never tried a Japanese cheesecake before and was extremely excited to be able to pick up some treats for my coworkers as well as my partner's birthday cake from Keki. Ordering is fairly straightforward and done with a simple machine outfront. Once your order is ready one of the staff members hands it to you through a window; there is no inside area accessible to customers but our food came quickly and we took it back to the office. The cheesecake was fantastic. I read a bit about the background of the shop online and how the owner really cares about using high-quality ingredients, specifically dairy. It was justas described, light and bouncy. I enjoyed how it was not overly sweet and found that it was all too easy to devour the entire cake over the course of two days. Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
