We went back last night to check out the live music I'd been hearing about and we were absolutely blown away that this wonderful place exists in our community. It looked like a younger crowd, and they were all so happy and spirited enjoying the band, which was fantastic. We had a few beers, I had no idea was possible here so a nice surprise, which were from Chapel + Main (which we love) and chatted with the owner a bit, who was working the soundboard. This man is doing such good for musicians, and Dover, it was clear why this place is popular and why Flight is such a staple here in town. I can't say enough good things! read more

This recently renovated coffee shop looks great. The space is open and there are many tables available. I was extremely disappointed with the flavor of the latte I ordered. The coffee here is standard at best. They only have 1 offering for people who just want a coffee..... No dark or light roasts. There "large" Is the size of everyone else's mediums and at $3 it is way over priced. I decided to give their pour overs a try and for an extra $ I got a pathetically weak Ethiopian in a French press that was barely 3/4 full and far from hot. Not impressed at all. read more

Absolutely love the atmosphere and ambiance of the cafe. Deep colors and the wood floor bring a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a cup. Loved the pour over, could taste wonderful sweetness, excellent body, and clear profile on the Guatamline. They also had a tasting wheel out for discussion (great job on that!). The espresso was good! Only reason it's not 5 stars is I feel the viscosity was off on the espresso...tad watery. Could be personal preference or they just need to adjust pulls for the day. Flavor was there however and still enjoyable. Thursday night open mic! Wonderful idea to bring the community in and create a culture! I too really want to love this place. It is a beautiful space. However, the service has not been super friendly and when I asked for a dark roast coffee I was informed that they don't serve dark roast coffee because the owner thinks dark roast beans are burnt. Geesh, talk about alienating a whole group of coffee drinkers. That is fine if the owner is not a big fan of dark roast but this is a coffee shop right? Am I the the only coffee lover that enjoys a good French roast? Also, you get a small mug and they charge you for a refill?! What other place does that? Oh well, even though I love the actual space, I will usually choose to go elsewhere for a dark roast and friendly service. read more

I love Flight so much! The coffee is strong and amazing, I tried the nitro cold brew a few weeks ago and I'm addicted. They have multiple different kinds of dairy-free alternatives to add to your coffee which is amazing, most places don't. Homemade bagels with hummus is my go-to food item, the hummus is a tiny bit spicy which I wasn't expecting but was a pleasant surprise. I've gotten to know the owners and the staff from going in there so much and they are all so friendly and accommodating! I do homework here a lot, it's a great place to go that's not too distracting and I just love coming here. It's such a great addition to the Dover community. read more

From the outside Flight looks like your typical downtown coffee shop- then you walk in. Be prepared to be impressed, this place is by no means typical. I ordered a cappuccino to go, but when they brought it to me I found myself hanging out for a while and enjoying the atmosphere, not to mention the best cappuccino I've ever had. read more

My husband and I moved from Seattle 7 years ago. We love good coffee, not Starbucks and definitely not Dunkin' donuts. We bought our own espresso machine when we moved because we couldn't find good coffee so needless to say we don't typically spend money on coffee. However we were so excited about Flight. It reminded us of a Seattle coffee shop. Even the wait - no coffee should be handed over quickly...you have to wait for it. Now here comes the bad part. We have been in 5 weekends in a row - we decided to have a regular Saturday morning date without the kids Every single time we have been in, the barista makes my husbands drink wrong. All he orders is an 8oz latte nonfat latte. That is exactly how he orders it...pretty straight forward. Yet every single time he gets it, it's either a 12 oz or just wrong. I finally told him to order a cappuccino the last visit. The guy at the register agreed with me and told him that cappuccinos are 8oz and that my suggestion was correct. I specifically remember because I gloated that the guy who works there told me I was right and my husband was wrong. Yet, after all that, he was handed a 12oz latte. ugh. Flight, I want to love you, I really do but I am not enjoying myself when I visit because I feel like I'm just waiting to see if your baristas are listening when we order our drinks...waiting and hoping they can get it right which makes me all the more disappointed when they don't. Is your drink is one listed on their menu, maybe you will have better luck. On the plus side, the open faced toasts are so good. And bagels are good too - but a little pricey at $2.50 for a dry bagel. read more

I have to admit that the mix of reviews is perplexing. I've been to this cafe a few times over the last couple of weeks and have to say that my experience has been nothing but positive. First some background. I grew up on the West Coast where we've had specialty coffee for a lot longer than the East Coast has. Quick clue here folks, Starbucks doesn't really qualify as third wave specialty coffee. Since coming out to the East Coast a couple of years ago, one of the things I've really missed has been the cafe experience I was used to back home. A really good cafe has got to be able to do more than just pull a decent espresso. Sure, good espresso and batch brew are required, but just as important is the sum total of the experience. When you walk into your favorite cafe, the sights, sounds, and smells are all key elements. A good cup of coffee can be ruined by antiseptic ambiance, rude staff, or poor food accompaniments. Boston has some decent cafes, but its an hour away from me (much more when there's traffic), so getting my cafe fix down there is something that can only happen on the occasional weekend. So, as a poor substitute, I ordered great coffee from back home and brewed it myself. As you might imagine from this rambling story that I was excited when I heard that Flight Coffee was opening a cafe up my way. I had heard about Flight in the past and was an on-again off-again mail order customer depending on what they had on sale each month. I decided to skip the opening week since I don't fancy crowds all that much and showed up for the first time in mid February. Frankly, I was blown away. It's almost as if my favorite West Coast cafe had been scooped up by and deposited in Dover. The experience began when I walked through the door and all of my senses we engaged at once. The decor is incredible, those aromas of freshly brewed coffee were enticing and the food offerings were not that shabby either. What was really interesting was all of the ways I could have my coffee made at their pour over bar. Chemex, French Press, Hario, you name it, they have it. What a lot of people don't realize is that the exact same cup of coffee brewed three different ways will have three different taste profiles. On top of this, certain coffees lend themselves to certain brew methods more than others, so having the ability to choose the method is a big win. Finally, the people behind the bar are a really interesting bunch. From the owner, Claudia right on down, they know their stuff and love to talk coffee. If you want to try a new experience at the pour over bar, flag one of them down and get ready to learn some cool stuff. Great Job, Flight Coffee! Looking forward to my next cup. read more

Good options as a true 3rd wave coffee joint. Nice place. Clean and well lit. Really interesting pallet wood interior. Very excited to see a first 3rd wave here in Dover. Boy was I wrong. Wow. Where to start. No greeting upon entry. Bad move #1. This is a must as a new place, even after I identified myself as a first timer. The staff wasn't very knowledgeable about product they are attempting to sell. Bad move #2. I appreciate the idea of a better product for a good price. I asked some pointed questions and the staff was utterly clueless. Ouch. I believe you get what you pay for. This is the first and most likely only time going in, I was treated like a complete lowlife. I work in an office in the Mill across the street and I am not the only person that has had a similar experience. I like to see for myself before passing judgement. Not recommended for the price point if the staff treats you bad and know almost nothing about how and what of the product they sell. read more

Loooove Flight Coffee Co. It didn't take long at all for it to turn into my "go to" coffee spot. Their espresso is perfect and their homemade donuts and bagels are out of this world. Super friendly staff... they will get to know you, your name and your favorite beverage and smile every time they see you. The atmosphere is super relaxed but very classy. They have a whole bookcase of games and sometimes live music, too! Bring a laptop to work, a book to relax or a friend to chat...or, just yourself. You won't be disappointed (unless you're hoping for something like watered down DD's or overly sweetened Starbucks...because you have no idea what coffee is supposed to actually taste like ;) ) read more

I really wanted to love Flight. I've been a fan of their roasts since back when they were CQ Roasters. I'm sure their coffee is still fantastic and they seam to care about the craft, offering pourover, siphon, etc. and recommending a prep method for each coffee they are serving. The environment is also wonderful and provides a great place to kick back and relax or bring some work to. However, as my other reviews of coffee shops probably give away, I'm a big fan of espresso drinks and the is where Flight falls short for me. We tried several drinks: a valentine's day special with grenadine (sort of an espresso Shirley Temple), a maple latte, and a regular latte. In all three drinks, it was near impossible to taste the espresso. It was so overpowered by the milk that it was impossible to discern any of the notes of the espresso until the drink cooled, at which point bitter notes started to show through, but not in a good way. I will say that the maple latte was very enjoyable, but not as a latte so much as a nice, sweet drink. The valentine's drink was overly sweet, but fun and forgivable based on what it was. The real deal-breaker for me was the regular latte, though. For a place which roasts their own coffee and prides themselves on it, it's sad that I can't taste what I can only imagine is wonderful espresso. If you like your drinks sweet and milky and barely tasting of coffee, you'll enjoy Flight. If you like your drinks to be complex, layered and based upon a fine, flavorful espresso, stick with the coffee. You'll be happier. read more

Finally. Third wave coffee in NH. Flight Coffee Co. I know they have won a lot of national awards. They roast in Bedford. The cafe is in Dover. The best place to sit is at the pour over bar. I ordered The Flight and was educated on how processing impacts tasting notes. Ordered the Avocado with perfectly poached soft boiled egg. Psyched to try the cold brew coffee on nitro tap too. If you are really, REALLY into coffee, the varying flavors, subtleties and complexities of the mighty bean, you should find your way to Flight Coffee. These folks really take coffee seriously, and mine was excellent. Just as importantly, Flight is a friendly, welcoming place, thoughtful and deliberate in its decor and seating. There are some nice community tables, small tables and bar seating. Pretty and spacious, it was a wonderful find in downtown Dover. Really over priced. My bf and I went here opening week, and I got a medium ice coffee and a cinnamon bun... For close to $8. I literally had to add half a shaker of sugar to my coffee just to make it drinkable, and had to pour out over half and add cream because it was so intensely acidic. I ended up giving it to my bf. The people were really snooty and seemed almost exasperated that I didn't know what was on their menu. I had never heard of a pour over bar? If you're going to have something new to the area at least be willing to explain what it is. read more
