    Iced Banana Bread Latte
    Devyn L.

I really enjoyed my first visit to Hartford Baking Co. I had been very anxious to try their new brunch menu, which I believe is exclusive to this location. Service was friendly and set the tone well from the beginning when I ordered. I liked that there is a spacious second floor with plenty of seating in addition to the limited row of tables opposite the counter. I ordered an iced banana bread latte to drink, which I found a bit plain. I didn't think the flavors came through very well and, while definitely not bad, it was a bit of a letdown. I would say "fine". The smoked salmon scramble with goat cheese was very good. It was full of salmon and the eggs were gently cooked which I appreciated. The toast that came with it was excellent, but definitely not the type said to come with the dish. I believe it was supposed to be 7 grain, and it was likely sourdough. So there were a few small things, primarily I think I should have just chosen a different latte, so that's on me. I would definitely go back. I was impressed with the variety of offerings on the new brunch menu, so I would explore one of those and either stop there or just try another drink. But it was ultimately a good experience. And again, very pleasant staff and environment!

An inviting coffee shop/bakery with additional seating upstairs. We ordered a 12 oz. hot coffee, 12 oz. Mocha, 12 oz. Hot chocolate, and an ALT-B sandwich (avocado, romaine lettuce, tomato, bacon on sourdough toast). Everything delicious. Bacon extra crispy on the sandwich just the way it should be. Helpful, friendly staff.

Stumbled upon this cute bake shop in west Hartford. Enjoyed an iced coffee and some sweet treats. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Restaurant was clean. Prices were fair

Always love a fresh pastry and some piping hot coffee from Hartford Baking Company. Such a fun, chill place. I love to bring my delicacies upstairs and grab a bar seat overlooking downtown WeHa. The perfect way to while a way a cold winter's morning. Don't pass on the chocolate almond croissant--it's otherworldly!

This location of The Hartford Baking Company is always busy. They make delicious breads, sandwiches, pastries, cookies and brownies. Yum! At work one time my coworker ordered us their sandwiches to be delivered, they arrived hot, with cheese and turkey and all the other goods. It was the highlight of my day! On my most recent trip to The Hartford Baking Company, I got something a bit different. I got their matcha latte! It was ready after a short wait, and I took it upstairs. You can also sit downstairs, but the seating is limited and it's typically taken. The space upstairs is spacious, and has plenty of light. The large windows give you a good view of the happenings below on Farmington Avenue. My matcha latte, needed a bit of sugar, to mellow out the bitterness. After that it was delicious with all of its green glory. It was thoroughly blended, as there wasn't any loose matcha at the bottom of my cup. I've had their capuccino before, it was a let down, the cup arrived with all foam and basically very, very little coffee. They use Giv coffee beans, for their coffee, so you know it's quality. Stop by The Hartford Baking Company for a tasty lunch, breakfast or a coffee.

I really wanted to like this place. It was located in a busy shopping center, so finding parking was a challenge and I wound up having to pay for parking which is fine. But you can imagine my disappointment when I got the feel from some of the employees that honestly looked like they didn't want to be there. I asked one girl for reccs between two breakfast sandwiches that I was eyeing and got told in a very short/rude response "i don't like eggs". She never even tried to follow it up with a separate recc or comment about other things on the menu that she does like. The other employee simply laughed and said "wow, you were so blunt" in response to that employee's response to my question. This was actually my first shop that I visited after getting into Connecticut and it left a poor taste as to how patrons are treated. I wasn't too fond of my breakfast sandwich (HBC EGGwhich) as it felt like it needed something to freshen up the meal like sliced tomatoes or lettuce or something. Probably could have just been a bad choice but you know I probably would have had more insight if the employee would have interacted more positively. Drip coffee was good, banana/chocolate muffin was okay. High threshold for coming back. Plenty of other options to try.

Nice place in West Hartford Center to catch up with family and friends or to get work done as there is plenty of seating upstairs and not too loud. I ordered the E-BAT breakfast sandwich and an iced latte with syrup. The sandwich was really good, the flavor and textures worked well together. I did not enjoy the latte however, it tasted bitter to me and I could not even finish it.

Hartford Baking Company Recommended: Yes. Would definitely go again. Overall: A cute casual spot for a quick coffee, breakfast sandwich, and of course baked goods. Snapshot: Food: 4/5 Drink: 5/5 Vibe: 4/5 Service: 5/5 ‍‍ Family-Friendly: NA Highlights: * Perfect For: Grab & go wake me up * Don't Miss: Scones * Bonus Tip: Pick up a fresh loaf of bread for home All The Details: Hartford Baking Company is the go-to place for a quick coffee catch-up or a convenient breakfast on the move. The breakfast sandwiches are delicious, albeit slightly greasy for my taste, and the coffee is among the best in the area. Their scones truly stand out, even with the tough competition for baked goods and morning treats in the area. This visit was without my little one, so it's tough to judge the family-friendly aspect. However, I did notice they had high chairs, and there were plenty of moms with babies and strollers around. The vibe is friendly, but it's worth noting that it does get pretty packed, with people often waiting for their food right next to the tables. Despite the bustle, I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Came through to study a few times. Great selection of coffees and a good variety of foods. Coffee was always tasty and from high quality roasteries. I've tried a few of their brunch options and was never disappointed. My favorite was the E-BAT breakfast sandwich. I've also tried a few pastries which were also all delicious! Really can't go wrong here. There was ample seating and a second floor that overlooked the street, so it was a nice place to come to study.

I only got to try a decaf cappuccino this time and I love that they have this option. The service was excellent in West Hartford location and our cashier was super nice and patient. We never felt rushed even though we were there close to closing time. The ambiance was calm and casual. My only suggestion is maybe changing the cup size a little bit.

They have plenty of seating, some upholstered furniture and we saw a few Friday morning telecommuters working on their laptops and sipping their coffees. Our order was a Chai Latte and a Cold Brew - each was $5. The pours were very large, and I swear that my cold brew was the very best I've ever had. I love coffee, drinking it hot or cold, and what I had here is in my all-time Top Five Percent. It was that good. I had a sip of my wife's Chai Latte and thought it was excellent as well. What really impressed me were the flavors of both drinks- not overpowering, but strong enough to appreciate them. The Coffee Guy has it all - specialty coffees, matcha, chai, espresso drinks, and pastries and sweet treats to pair with your coffee cup. We couldn't resist grabbing a few on our way out, and we took home a box with a Spinach croissant, iced blueberry scone, and a cruffin (croissant/muffin hybrid). We loved our visit to the Coffee Guy, and I was so impressed by the total experience, I just subscribed to their newsletter. So the next time we're looking for a midday break or afternoon pick-me-up..... I know a guy!

I can't believe some of the reviews. The coffee is roasted in house, the syrups are from scratch. If they could fit a cow in their (way too small) parking lot they'd probably have fresh milk and cream, too! Went in yesterday for a work meeting and the service was even better than usual. The vibe and atmosphere here is great for meetings, business or casual. My associate and I split a Siphon Pot to start. If you have the time, this is the very best way to enjoy your coffee. It really pulls the flavor out of the beans, on par with a pour over or aeropress, but it's also perfect for sharing. Afterwards, we both got Cortados, which were excellent, and I brought ice coffee back to the office for the man we left behind to run things. He sighed happily after sipping it, commenting that he could tell it was from J René. Why not 5 stars? The food is ok but I'm not a big fan of the pastries I've tried here. They're "fine". Normally my wife will get one and I'll try a bite or two. She's really into croissants and won't get them from here, saying they're a waste of money. The prices can feel a little steep here, especially compared to other good, local spots. Lastly, the parking lot is so tiny and during busy times of day the road can get crowded as well.
