This is my new go-to breakfast/lunch spot. We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday and we're promptly put on the list for a short 10/15 minute wait. We sat at the counter and the chairs were comfortable enough and the service prompt. We had a tuna melt and the chicken fingers with Buffalo sauce. Both were a good portion size and yummy. I wanted the country fried steak but alas, they were out for the day. We also enjoyed the lemonades and a Bloody Mary stacked high with bacon and pickled things. Yum! We also had the crunch French toast which was yummy and crunchy but not really something I'd order again. It needs a sprinkle of powder sugar with a hit of chili powder to really take it over the top if you ask me how it could be improved. Overall, we are glad this restaurant has opened in our area and we will be back! read more

This is the second time I tried this place. The last time was probably almost a year ago. And it was just OK. This time we went early like about 8:30 in the morning and I took my husband. This recently opened outpost came on the Express train from the Tampa area. Casual, seat yourself environment. This Friendly staff hides their smile behind masks for safety. Well thought out menu offers a wide variety of options for breakfast, and lunch only. At Ashton's recommendation I tried the "Train Wreck", a gravy biscuit smothered with peppers and onions. It was topped with a perfectly soft scrambled egg. The only thing that could have been improved was the biscuit that was on the dry side. This great new restaurant has been in Ocala for a couple of weeks. We had to wait for a table today which is a good sign...that means business is boomin! After we were seated in a comfortable booth, our server Lynn, gave us perfect service. Lynn was noticeably busy but she still gave great service, she was attentive, efficient and up-beat. Tom had a Chicken Caesar wrap and I had a Smothered Chicken Sandwich. Both meals were tasty and served with a side of creamy coleslaw. Kudos to the obviously hard working owners Griffin Young and Tony Basenback. The food was really good! I had the basics, eggs, pancakes and grits. My wife was able to have gluten free items and our friend is a regular. In fact, we came there because of our friend who lives nearby. The coffe was good, not bitter and the service was fast! The Manager was outstanding! Everything about this place is amazing. First and foremost, DO NOT FEAR a wait. Even when you go and there is a wait list, you get seated pretty quickly. Service is amazing. Everyone that works here is fantastic. The food quality is consistent, a great value for the money paid, generous serving sizes, extremely tasty and you leave satisfied. Everything I have tried on the menu I would order again. The Box Car (club sandwich) will always be a favorite of mine, all omelettes are delicious and I love the skillets! I'll start by saying the waitress was one of the best waitresses i've had in a long long time. she was great although i did forget her name. i enjoyed the small business feel of the place and it very slightly reminded me of diners up north. the menu was good too. but i got my food and it was extremely bland. the pancakes (rubbery), eggs, hashbrowns, and biscuit were just not worth going out for. the place had to be 83 degrees inside with flies everywhere too. could barely focus on how bland my food was because i was trying to drink enough water to not break a sweat inside. was really hoping for this local eatery to be much better but i unfortunately don't think ill go back. read more

I will say that I understand that this is the first week of being open and there are always going to be growing pains.... We were greeted at the door by a friendly gentleman that led us to our table. After a few minutes, a woman came by to take our drink order. After about ten more minutes of waiting with no drinks we asked the manager if someone could take our order. A different woman came by and asked us for our order. We asked for the Depot Breakfast and the waitress asked us if we wanted the hash browns and the bacon crispy. We said that would be great! When we received our order, the hash browns were at best, done, but in no way were they "crispy" and the bacon seemed to have been made hours previous and kept under a warmer. It tasted rubbery and not at all crisp. The pancakes were very dense and doughy. I don't fault them for this as it may just be the way they make pancakes, I just don't care for them that way... After we were done, we waited 20 minutes for someone to bring us a check. We even stacked our dishes and set them on the outside of the table for a hint. Not one staff member even came to our side of the restaurant to see how their customers were doing. It wasn't until I stood up and asked for a check, did someone come over. Again, I know that places are short staffed, but we watched the five person staff, refill the ice machine, replace cups etc. but did not concentrate on their patrons.
