This was my first breakfast in my new hometown of Winston-Salem and I am so glad my wife suggested it. Going in had a real warm feeling with all the wood and country wall items everywhere. Being that I have lived out of the south for so long you really appreciate those things when you come to a place to eat like Breakfastime. We were told on entry that it would be a few minutes to sit inside, but it was just a minute or so before we sat down. The coffee came quickly and often from our server Megan who was very friendly and didn't leave us for long before we ordered. I got the country fried steak with sausage gravy, the biscuit and hash browns (tip ask for grilled onions on the hash browns it was great). The food came out in under 5 minutes and was just as good as it looked. The sausage gravy was excellent however I would have loved move of it. Also if you get two eggs they give you one for free, so at the end of the meal I had to roll out, but I rolled out happy. I will be back and I will definitely recommend this place due to the food, price and service. read more

What a happening place! We went later so the wait was only 20 minutes but we've tried before and the wait was almost an hour! It was a busy place! Food is your typical breakfast at reasonable prices. Service was probably one of the most awkward experiences. When we arrived the hostess didn't speak to us at all and just grabbed menus motioning us to follow. We asked to be seated at a both instead of a table much larger than what we needed, she said no because she didn't want to clean any of the several that were open. We asked again and then thankfully were moved to one of the open booths but waited around 20 minutes to be seen by a server with others around us being seen in the meantime. The bananas foster French toast is definitely a hit! -Warm and sweet breakfast delight The grits are typical home style grits. The home fries I am not impressed with as I always like bell peppers along with my onions. These had onions only and they are largely sliced with large chunks of potatoes. My server Justin was very friendly and hospitable and offered ideas on menu selections. The atmosphere appears very family and community friendly and is apparently quite popular. The place has been hopping since the moment I entered. Gives an old county diner plus farmhouse feel. Would have to come again and try more dishes before I could give a 4 or 5. Asked for more so I could finish my breakfast and was told it is all rotten. I am 71 years old and I don't need a disrespectful young pup talking to me like she did. If I'm super hungry and craving brunch, my go-to is Breakfastime. You'll notice the cute barn decor throughout the restaurant with plenty of seating options with boots and counter seats. The servers are quick and usually super friendly. However, when I went with some friends last weekend, she only gave us a few minutes to look over the menu, after which we told her we were not ready to order yet. She came back literally one minute later and seemed a little annoyed that we have not decided what we wanted, which I would have understood if she had not come back so soon after she just asked for our order. As for the food, it does not take too long to come out, even if the restaurant is packed. I have tried their their Avocado Benedict and Country Fried Steak, which I would definitely recommend. The benedict came with perfectly poached eggs and a side of potatoes. I love the way they season their potatoes here, as they're flavorful without being too salty. Arrived on a Sunday at about 10am and had a 20 minute wait for seating, but a couple of spots opened at the bar so we grabbed those. This is a busy, busy place so be prepared for fast ordering and fast service. This isn't the place to come hang around and brunch it up. This is an in and out nonstop food slinging situation. We were quickly poured some pretty terrible coffee. It tasted similar to what you would get at a Waffle House, but this place functions in a similar fashion so that's not surprising. I ordered an omelette with a side of grits. The omelette was fine. It was well stocked with veggies. The grits were simple and "adding cheese" meant slapping a Kraft single in the middle of the bowl. With as packed as this parking lot always is, I thought this would be a different kind of place, not so much like the diner you roll into at about 2am or during a cross-country drive. We love Breakfastime. This was our first time at the Hanes Mall location. I like how bright and modern the restaurant is. The staff were very nice and our waiter Juan was awesome. He did a great job checking on us but not hovering too much. I had the Greek omelette with hash browns and a biscuit and my son had the kids breakfast platter. We both loved our breakfasts. The hash browns were nice and crispy and the omelette was full of vegetables. The biscuit was very buttery and my son kept trying to steal it. Breakfastime on Hanes Mall road is a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. They have a wide variety of food. They have a lot of different items to choose from, maybe too many. It will take a minute or so to pick out your meal. I have eaten here a few times as well as the location in Clemons. The food and the service is about the same, good in both locations. The Hanes Mall restaurant is larger but the wait time is about the same, about 45 minutes. I have eaten a number of different things here and they were all good. I will continue to eat here as long as the food and service are consistent. read more

Wait time around noon on a Sunday was just about 30 mins, but it took 40 mins to get our food! The restaurant looks very nice and clean. The food was good. Just one small issue remains with their biscuits; you cannot eat them without crumbling :) It seems they fixed their hash brown since our last visit; they are much better now. Coffee is good. Our waiter Michael was very nice and courteous. Very solid operation given all the labor challenges these days. Was seated at 9:32 am Sunday morning. A little busy, but not crowded, no wait for table and plenty of other tables open. 10 minutes later, still no service. 2 tables, 1 behind us, 1 off to side wall, had people finish, leave, tables got cleaned, new people sat, orders taken, drinks received, still no service for us at all. 15 minutes now, no service, got up to leave. Stopped at front counter and told them they could have the table back as we'd been there 15 minutes now with no service while others who came after had already gotten their drinks and placed orders. I have always loved Breakfastime since it first opened. However, my last visit, left MUCH to be desired. The portions used to be large, too large to finish- now they're small enough that you can definitely finish it (which isn't necessarily a bad thing for our growing obesity rate - but it's not fun to pay more & get less). The food was less than mediocre tasting also, which is NOT my typical experience. However, aside from one gal, I didn't recognize any of the staff anymore- so maybe the kitchen staff has all turned over also. My biggest issue was our waitress. She was horrible, and I am a waitress- so I don't say that lightly! Our food coming out before we even had water or coffee is ludicrous- she also failed to bring us silverware. I had to go hunt some down, along with asking another waitress to stop what she was doing so we could have some water. The whole experience was off putting. Also, Sidenote; there are 2 tables outside that are in direct sunlight- even with the new awning- thus no one wants to sit there in the beating sun when it's 85°- so whoever has that section is losing 2 tables! My daughter and I use to frequent this place a lot. We walked in and the host recognized us immediately. We were put on a wait and we were fine with it. After sitting for over 30 min and seeing parties getting sat after us, I went back to the host stand which is only 20 feet away and asked how much longer. The other host snappily replies he called our name. I told him we are sitting right there and no you did not. The name was Cora and nothing of any similarity was called. He snapped back with a yes I did. All he had to do was say I'm sorry but the attitude was so off turning that we will never go back. I work in this industry and some things are simply avoided. Maybe train your people in front who are the face of your business some etiquette so you can avoid reviews like this. read more

Though it wouldn't be my first place to choose if it were up to me, I do leave satisfied. I've tried their waffles, french toast, biscuits, chicken salad, bacon and eggs, country ham, oatmeal, hash browns, their sausage gravy and the sweet tea. I'd say my favorite item out of everything I've tried was their hash browns and sausage gravy, along with the tea surprisingly. Everything else was just basic in my opinion. Nothing that left a lasting impression. Their chicken biscuit is more like a big chicken nugget on a biscuit so that did disappoint me. My chicken biscuit expectations are high though. If you have a large crowd to fed there will be something on the menu that pleases their tastebuds. This place either has lazy employees, or very uncleanliness employees. My family went today on December 19th around 12 noon. I ordered apples juice for my daughter, soon after drinking she began to vomit profusely. We took a sip of her juice to find out that the apple juice was sour. She then had 3 pieces of pancakes and would eat anymore for the rest of our stay. As we left she began to vomit again bring up the pancakes. Then began to run a fever, we not only had to take her to her pediatrician to be examined. Soon after we had to rush her to the ER, to find out she had food poisoning. Service was excellent. However we both ordered omelettes. One chorizo and one Philly cheese steak. Both you would think would be very flavorful however both were incredibly bland. Despite onion pepper and steak all I could taste was egg or American cheese in the few bites that weren't dry. Again the chorizo omelette had no flavor. Both barely had any meat. And just flooded with other ingredients that surprisingly had no taste. The biscuits were good and good gravy. I'm not sure what the go to for an entree is here though.
