A cute little spot in downtown Campbell off Campbell Avenue. A pretty good selection of milk and fresh teas to choose from. Self-serve on their kiosk, so no one greets you or asks if you need anything. And for a Saturday afternoon, they were already out of their Egg Waffles? Never heard of a place of running out of something that's pretty simple to make since you only need to make the batter. Popcorn chicken was good. The mild is already pretty spicy enough for me. I tried the Okinawa milk tea with bubbles. The tea was yummy, it had a rich, black tea flavor. The bubbles were fantastic soft yet chewy. I wished the amount of added bubbles was a bit more. I also ordered the spicy popcorn chicken, which was just as tasty. It came with a side of sweet chili sauce. We sat in a corner and had good conversation about random topics. I liked my okinawa milk tea much more than the regular milk tea - it's similar to the brown sugar milk tea with a stronger flavor. There are a few boba places around this area to choose from. So far this is the best one. Good amount of food items in the menu. Unlike most new boba places now. My go-to snack, popcorn chicken, was good. Drinks were pretty good. A good amount of drinks to choose from especially for a person like me, who does not drink tea. While downtown at the Campbell farmers market I decided I wanted boba. First thing in noticed when walking in was the decor and the mood lighting. The space is relatively small with just a handful of tables but clean and inviting. I was greeted with a smile when I walked in, even with a couple in front of me. They have a relatively simple menu that was easy to read. I ordered a mango green milk tea with honey boba and mango stars, along with some sweet potato fries. The milk tea was great, with just the right amount of sweetness and I throughly enjoyed my toppings. The sweet potato fries, while hot, left something to be desired. They seemed almost not cooked enough and could use a bit of salt. Over all though, I enjoyed myself and wouldn't mind going back to try out some other teas. I need to add because I just noticed! TLDR: Strong tea flavor! To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this Tea place. I have found that tea places cater to the neighborhood they are in. This place is in downtown Campbell. The other thing I look out for is any Chinese in the menu or on the walls. That's why I was very surprised that the tea here rivals some of the more traditional tea places in the Bay Area! And my HK wife agrees! We both have our "go-to" drinks. These are things you KNOW the best, so you can judge if the place is worthy to go back. For my wife, it's Black Milk Tea, 0% sugar, less ice. That's the best ice ratio to get the most tea while still being cold. I usually get either a Mango or Peach Fruit tea (no milk, as I'm lactose intolerant), 25-33% sugar, less ice. I really like my tea! It had a strong tea flavor, and the mango tasted like it normally should! (Believe me, there are some tea places where the mango tastes WEEEEEEIRRRRDDD). We needed a cafe that was open late, served warm drinks, had friendly staff, and was along a walkable street in case the venue became packed. No loose wrappers/napkins - Place was brightly lit, enough to play a table top game - Milk Tea quality 3.5/5 - "No sweet" level had a pleasant hint of sweet Bad: - Music was so loud we had to raise our voices to chat. We eventually headed outside. The music carried on that way for the 1.5hrs we chatted. - Interactions with staff were brief and distant because the ordering was automated on iPad. We didn't realize this so, for a while, we stood staring at the menu, awaiting service. - No hot drinks available because steaming equipment was broken - Bathroom was closed - No outdoor seating Thoughts: "Open late" was great, but this place missed all other marks that evening. The trend of iPad-automated checkout sucks. My buddy and I work from home and chose to go out so we could have a nice warm vibe-y place to sit, and service people are crucial to the vibe. If we wanted fast service with no interaction, McDonalds would provide similar experience, a quieter place to chat, and probably have warm drinks and an open bathroom to wash our hands. I came in this afternoon with my daughter to grab a drink and mozzarella sticks and probably the last time. We've been coming here for over six years, but today was really disappointing. She ordered a butterfly lemonade for $6.99 and we paid an extra $0.75 for rainbow jelly. When she got her drink, she was let down by how little jelly was in it. I thought she might be overreacting, but when I looked and agreed... it was barely anything. She asked the staff nicely for more since we had paid for it, but was told she'd have to pay again. I spoke to the employee myself, and they showed me the small scoop that was added. Honestly, it didn't seem fair. We left pretty upset. Visited at 9pm on a Saturday night and there were a few people hanging out here. I'm a frequent visitor of the SJ location, but this was my first time in the Campbell location. It was a lot cleaner and quieter than the SJ location and I liked the interior decor and Christmas decorations they put up as well. I ordered a passionfruit green tea (50% sweet) and the barista made it on the spot. Parking is difficult to find in downtown Campbell, but there is a free parking garage right behind this building. I got half sweet like usual and on the first few sips it was way too sweet, I think the syrup sank to the bottom, so I would mix it a little more next time. The boba was qq / just the right firmness. Boba is soft and chewy and the sweetness was good. -#10 Lychee Green Milk Tea with fruit bits and honey boba- this was good and refreshing. Tips: -If you get no ice, there will be a gap. Both of our drinks had "no ice", but one had a more noticeable gap at the top of the drink than the other (please see picture). They didn't mention this when we ordered, or we probably would have gotten less ice instead. - Food was warm, but not hot even though we ate it there. The food came out quickly, though, if you are in a hurry. They do have a virtual stamp card-- make sure you ask for your points! - They had a wireless charging spot on our table that worked and they wifi available. I am a boba lover. I think I have tried every single spot in the Bay Area, but Breaktime takes my #1 pick. I'm a fan of fruity drinks and their teas are so refreshing and not heavy. They are lighter especially when you adjust the sweetness and they have amazing snacks. It's a good space to study too... 10/10 for taste personally. Only down side is costumer service is a little awkward and the workers aren't the most friendly. They also sometimes run out of boba pearls but most of the time they have it! Super clean spot. Came in to order drinks and snacks and the tablets weren't working. I let the girls behind the counter know, and they said they stopped serving food 30 minutes before closing. I held up my phone to show it was 8:27, they looked at each other with a smirk on their face and just refused to help. A nice and clean boba shop that's well geared up as a place to hangout and relax. Definitely the first I've seen to have built-in phone charges on their tables! Boba tea was pretty good, but a big happy note that they use non-dairy creamer by default (as the staff helpfully informed me)! I'd be happy to nab another drink from them when I'm next in the area. Parking is actually not so bad if you use the public lot behind the shop (you might think it's street only), so the nice amount of free parking helps. Interior is pretty nicely setup with wood paneling mixed with brick, though no outside seating that I could see. Their menu is somewhat simplified from other shops in the customization sense, since there's no sizing shenanigans and hot stuff is just the same price. However, they do still have quite the variety of drinks on their menu so it's hard to pick out a specialty. They also have a good amount of snacks on the side, but I wasn't in for those so can't comment on their quality. ==Rose Green Milk Tea== Nabbed this guy hot and it was a solid bubble tea and a good balance of the use of rose though less strong on the green tea part. I would have preferred it to be a decent amount hotter (I'd describe it as lukewarm), but still enjoyable. ==Strawberry Green Milk Tea== Had a bunch of blended in strawberry bits that added a more fresh touch to this drink. The shop is located in downtown Campbell, where parking can be limited. I was visiting the nearby park and walked over from there. While the bathroom was exceptionally clean, I can't say the same with confidence about the rest of the shop. It seems most folks come here for the food rather than the beverages. It's break time here but let's be honest - boba is good for anytime and any occasion. Breaktime Tea sits at the heart of Downtown Campbell which is a great spot for dessert after you've had a meal elsewhere. They have a variety of drinks that includes seasonal offerings, so check the entire menu. If I had seen the sign advertising their Pumpkin Spice Latte boba, I would have totally ordered that instead. Fall or not, my basic-ness comes out for a pumpkin spiced drink (as long as it's vegan friendly). I ordered an Roasted Oolong Milk Tea ($6) with less sugar/ice, which is my go-to at nearly all boba shops. Loved the tea quality and the boba was firm, just the way I like it. Drinks came out very quickly and the workers were able to answer all my questions while ordering. Love that they use non-dairy and lactose free creamer for nearly all their milk tea drinks (with a few exceptions, so be sure to ask). They do offer plant-based milks as well if you prefer to have that instead. Although we didn't stay long enough to enjoy, the tables inside all have wireless chargers attached which is fantastic. The atmosphere and setup really make for a chill working environment so I would not be surprised if more people came and stayed for a drink and to get some work done. First one I received was thai tea with coffee grounds in it (not the kind of dirty i was looking for lol), but they happily remade it for me. They have an espresso machine, so the coffee flavor was nice and strong. Wish the thai tea and creaminess came through a bit more, but it was still delish. Boba was on the firmer side, coffee jelly was pretty standard. All the drinks use non-dairy creamer, which you can replace with a non-dairy milk too.
