As soon as my friends saw there was a spot that did alcoholic shave ice they wanted to try it. The original plan was to go to Down the Hatch and Breakwall Suave Ice but there was a HUGE line for Down the Hatch. This almost completely deterred us from both, but after peering downstairs we realized Breakwall barely had a line and we went down the second set of stairs to snag a spot in line for shave ice. Another downside of the location that we learned really quickly is that they're right next to the bathroom, so the foot traffic cuts through while you're in line and waiting on your shave ice. Definitely don't zone out or take too many pictures, you're going to be in the way. Back to the food though, they have regular shave ice, alcoholic adult shave ice, açaí bowls, smoothies and shakes, cold brew and even dole whip and giant pretzels. While they don't have as many flavors to choose from as other places, the ones they have a tasty and they give a great amount of syrup so you don't have plain ice spots. My friends ordered the strawberry guava daiquiri and we ordered the Mojito float and both were good. I thought the addition is soft serve in the bottom of ours elevated it and you definitely could tell they were cocktail flavors and not just regular shave ice. If I came back I would take advantage of Happy Hour from 2-5 where the adult shave ice is just $6.

Right beside our fav spot down the hatch.You get a discount too if you dine there. We went there during the happy hour and got a shave ice for 6$. It was absolutely delicious.The coconut icecream was divine. Must try if you are in the lahaina area.

Breakwall shave ice has lots of choices to choose from the menu. The ice was well shaved and very light. We tried Mango Margarita adult shave ice offered here, pineapple dole whip & rainbow shave ice which was good. Even though the line was long, the wait didn't disappoint us. Kudos to the staff, they are efficient and friendly! If you're in the area check this place out. You'll love it.

The peanut buttah looks good, but would prefer more fruit on it. Maybe I could get the Brazilino and add some PB. I ordered a Brazilino with added PB, blueberries and pineapple too. The pineapples are canned and not so good. The PB is a big clump and not so good. The pineapple and vanilla dole whip was good for the boys. The açaí bowl is blah.

My friends and I had our first round of shaved ice here and it was a great introduction! The young guy behind the counter was kind and knowledgeable--he answered our questions and made helpful suggestions on flavors and toppings. The spot was in the center of a plaza of other restaurants and shops--had a busy feel, but it was nice. The shop itself wasn't busy that night, so we were served pretty fast. My wife had a mix of Guava-Strawberry, Piña Colada and Coconut with a "Creamy Snowcap." I had a mix of Guava-Strawberry, Mango, and Wild Cherry. It was refreshing and delicious--a little icier than what we would have in the coming days. But still good!!

Since I dined at Down The Hatch, I decided to get my 15% discount for some shaved ice at Breakwall. I ordered a small Rainbow shaved ice ($6) with Snow Cap (+50cents). There aren't too many flavor options and the unique ones cost an extra dollar because they're natural, so passed on that. The shaved ice itself was good and flavors were sweet. This was a refreshing treat after your meal though. I'd highly recommend adding the snow cap because they use a thick condensed milk drizzle over it that was so tasty.

Side Note: I would have given this place a 5 star rating had it not been for the guy who took 35 minutes to make a handful of shave ice. There were only two people in front of me but it took over half and hour and they only had 2 and 2 orders. Then, he made mine with the incorrect flavors and remade it incorrectly again. I was so over the situation I ate my shave ice with the incorrect flavors. They need a second person to help if the person working is new and or that slow. The other people around me were like, what is going on?! Some people left the line it was ridiculous. Aside from all of that the shave ice itself was pretty good. Flavors were better than Ululani's. I only mention that place because everyone seems to compare everything to Ululani's. Their Watermelon flavor was the best watermelon flavor I have ever had. It's not pictured in my review because I forgot to take a photo. Seating: there is no seating inside but there are benches around the place to sit and eat your shave ice. If you eat at Down the Hatch there's a small discount but we didn't know as we had Shave Ice before lunch because why not lol.

The adult shaved ice was fun to try. We got a strawberry guava daiquiri and a mudslide shaved ice. All the flavors of the strawberry guava were from real fruit juice and fruit purees. The mudslide had everything in a traditional mudslide plus a generous portion ice cream. The mudslide was rich and chocolately. The ice itself was pretty standard flaked shaved ice for those who care. Not amazing, but not bad. FYI, theres not enough booze for you to get drunk off the shaved ice, but you might get a little buzz. Guys working the stand were great with no fuss.

I couldn't wait to try the Dole Whip. This place gave me the option to mix it with vanilla ice cream. Yes please! It's basically soft serve pineapple ice. The large was huge and I ate every drop. I finished it before my meal came. Sometimes, I like to eat dessert first. Now, I can check Dole Whip off my bucket list and I didn't have to go to Disney.

I ordered a pina colada adult shaved ice and split it with my husband. It was plenty for both of us and it tasted amazing! My niece ordered a small shaved ice and added a topping, she loved hers as well. I'm confident all of the flavors and options here taste great and fresh. The only reason I gave 4 vs 5 stars was due to the wait to order, and I would prefer the pricing structure have an "all in one price" option versus charging for each topping and addition. read more

This is the most visited place, we go to on Maui (3xs just this week). The service is great! They're friendly and ALWAYS let you know, if there's not enough flavoring, to let them know. I've tried ALL of the "Adult standard" flavors, I still can't figure out which I like the best-they're all DELICIOUS! Mya has been especially accommodating, she's sweet and friendly! The adult shaved ice is not to be missed while in Lahaina! I had a mojito float and my friend enjoyed a piña colada, and they were both out of this world. Seriously, we were both raving about them. They really do taste like the cocktails, and the ice cream at the bottom gives it a delicious creamy finish. Such a fun, unique twist on a Hawaiian classic! Be prepared to enjoy them on the premises, though (you can't take them out of the restaurant because of the alcohol). read more

The small sized shaved ice for $5.00 is pretty big and you get a choice of approximately 20 different syrups... And you can add up to three flavors for the same price. I got the pina colada syrup and the young lady reminded me that I can't take alcohol out of this courtyard... But then I told her i just wanted the regular non alcoholic syrup because if my condition. You can add coconut flakes on top for another 50 cents or so. You can add a scoop of ice cream on the bottom for an extra dollar or so, and you can order a medium or a large size for an additional dollar or two... And you can get alcoholic shaved ice for quite a bit more. It was pretty tasty overall... But When it's hot and muggy out... Anything cold usually does. Not bad! Oh, and the young lady behind the counter was nice to talk to also. read more

Have been coming Lahaina for years. Every time I visit the go to spot is Breakwall Shave Ice. Not only is the shaved ice great but the staff is awesome. We have a big group when we come 10-12 people and they get us everything we need in a quick fashion. Would highly recommend if you want a delicious treat in a cool part of town. read more

Maya! Thank you for taking care of our family at this great little shave ice shop. They provide a kids shave ice with their sister restaurants meals from next door. Best shaved ice around! So many options, and so so good! Bonus, they do adult shaved ice! And from 3-7 they have happy hour and certain ones are only $5! Also, if you eat at down the hatch right next door, which is one of the best places to eat in Maui, you get a discount on your drink! It's the best shaved ice I've ever had. read more

Our first experience here was so yummy that when my brother-in-law and his wife arrived we were quick to take them for some "adult" shave ice. Unfortunately, our second visit will be our last. The ladies working that day looked like they had never made a shave ice. They were extremely messy and the flavors never reached the middle of our cones. We felt bad that we brought our family back for such an expensive disappointment. read more

Best shave ice in the area, nice cashier, wonderful selection of flavors, and the prices are more than reasonable for the quality of food stuffs. I've gone back multiple times and they never fail to surprise me with the quality of the flavors. If you're ever in the area this is a must see and also a must eat. My favorite combination of stuff is a large shave ice with root beer flavor and a scoop of ice cream on bottom. read more

Had nothing to do with the heat. The woman was poorly trained and did not know how to pack the ice. Then the other woman put ridiculous syrup on. It fell due to both those things. I eat shave ice often with my children and I know a good pack and correct syrup amounts. These women had no clue. The first visit --they were spot on. Off the hook. Best ever type of thing. Second time all of us agreed a big fail. Btw my children threw out theirs as well due to excessive syrup. First time they ever did that. read more

Breakwall Shave Ice Co. was started by a group of surfers looking for a place to relax after a good session. They began with offering shave ice and then quickly started offering menu items that surfers wanted like fresh fruit smooites, protein shakes, and acai bowls.

I was about to change my order to another flavor choice when he convinced me to stay with the root beer float with added Roselani vanilla ice cream. I think I paid $9. My husband ordered the "Customer's Favorite", Mango, Passionfruit, Guava. We sat at one of the few picnic tables and umbrellas, and sampled our refreshingly icy shave ices, while looking at the gorgeous view of Lahaina and the crystal-clear waters. The main option there was Island Vintage Shave Ice, so I headed over. This is a walk up spot where you order from the counter without going inside. When I got to the counter I was told they were out of coconut, strawberry, and mango for the day. Since I usually go with lilikoi and coconut, that was a bit of a disappointment, but not a deal breaker. After looking over the menu I ended up ordering a small with lilikoi and pineapple. I then watched as the ice was not shaved fresh but instead scooped out of a freezer. That was a first for me and it showed in the final product. Instead of being light and fluffy, the ice was clumped together and at times a bit hard. As for the flavors, the pineapple was good and tasted true to the fruit. The lilikoi on the other hand was lacking the sharpness that I really enjoy. While they were natural flavors, the balance just was not there for me. The bottom line for me is that I would not head back here again in the future. Between the texture of the ice and the lackluster lilikoi flavor, this one just did not do it for me.

Stopped into Breakwall for dessert after some apps at Down The Hatch. Someone recommended their strawberry and passion fruit combo w/ ice cream at the bottom which was fantastic! The guy in front of me ordered a Mudslide (boozy) which looked over the top as well.
