Great place for shaved ice. I ordered the strawberry and it was very fresh tasting and it didn't have the heavy syrupy flavor.
The ladies are so kind and helpful! If there's a line it moves fast. I got a snow cone (they have ice cream too) macadamia ice cream on the bottom, guava, passion fruit and mango flavors with a snow cap topping! Fantastic! If you are here don't miss it!
After a long hike nearby, we were seriously craving shave ice to cool off, and Yelp led us to Big Wave Shave Ice inside the Westin Hotel. Once you enter the lobby, just head to the right and you'll find it. The two girls working there were super friendly and provided great service with big smiles. I went with the Tiger's Blood (watermelon), piña colada, and mango combo. Definitely get it with Roselani's ice cream on the bottom, it makes a huge difference! The pricing was reasonable, and the portion was the perfect size for me. Tip: if you're not staying at the hotel, there's free parking at Kekaa Open Space Park just a few steps past the Westin.
All of the flavors were super concentrated and not watered down at all, which we really appreciated. We tried lychee, pineapple, strawberry, passionfruit, and coconut, and each one tasted true to flavor and vibrant. The lychee was sweet and floral, the pineapple bright and tangy, strawberry classic and fruity, passion fruit perfectly tart, and the coconut smooth and tropical. Every bite was packed with flavor. We topped it with a snow cap of half-and-half condensed milk, which made it extra creamy and indulgent as it was such a good contrast to the fruity syrups. Refreshing, flavorful, and exactly what you want on a warm Maui day.
The best shave ice on Maui (yes, even better than the other popular place ). We are frequent Maui visitors and the Big Wave location in Kapalua was new during our December 2025 trip and we were thrilled it's so close to our Kapalua condo. We are back for our summer trip and we can't get enough!!! Been 5 times in 10 days and will hopefully make it back a couple more times before we head home. Their syrup flavors are top notch and the service is always friendly. Definitely recommend to anyone coming to Maui!
Shaved ice spot located inside a hotel. Stopped by here with my boyfriend and there was free beach parking next to the hotel. We got the strawberry, pineapple, and tigers blood with macadamia ice cream. The team members helping us were friendly and efficiently covered our shaved snow. We ate at the beach which was a short walk away, but there were tables close by with seating. Credit cards accepted. The strawberry was the best flavor in my opinion.

Super recommend getting shaved ice here. It is located just past the main lobby of the Westin Vacation Club. There is a public guest parking lot (on gravel road) just past the main parking lot for the Westin which is free and convenient! The shaved ice is soft and fluffy! I recommend the natural flavors which are lighter and less sweet! My favorite was the guava (not on the main list). I also love how they let you add more syrup if you want! Haupia ice cream was delicious and we also added a coconut snow cap (which they give you more tho!) Price is VERY reasonable for the size and for this being inside the Westin. There may be a slow-ish wait if there is a line but HIGHLY recommend coming here if not in a huge hurry. I would definitely return!
Looking for a replacement shave ice stop in the absence of Ululani's. Service was friendly and ice was good texture. Convenient location in the Westin, but the syrups were overly sweet and didn't seem to have any natural flavoring. It was the first time in my life that I didn't finish a shave ice, which is saying something.
Soft fluffy shave ice on the property of Westin. Parking was actually pretty easy since there was a public beach access parking lot separate from the resort. Finding the place was not as easy because we got distracted by the beautiful view of the resort, and ended up walking toward the beach. We ended up asking the bartender, who pointed us to the right direction. I'd say this is one of my favorite shave ice on Maui in terms of the ice consistency. This was the fluffiest/softest one. The syrup they used was pretty good too, but there was one flavor that tasted too sweet/more artificial. They do have flavors that aren't on the menu so make sure to ask!
We made a trip to Big Wave Shave Ice at The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas to try their famous shaved ice. The long line was a clear sign of its popularity. They offer a wide variety of flavors, including a secret menu with even more options. For $8, you can pick up to three flavors - we chose cotton candy, passionfruit, and mango. The syrups were evenly distributed, and was sweet and refreshing!
We stayed at the Westin North and thought we'd give this shave ice place a shot (located by the kids' Pirate Ship Pool), and they did not disappoint. We ordered a small with the natural flavors Passion Fruit, Lychee, and Tiger's Blood, along with Coconut Roselani ice cream. The ice was incredibly fine and soft throughout, and the consistency was on par with Ululani's. Service was also great, and the recommendations were spot-on. Would definitely recommend this place. To be honest, we probably would have come every day if we had tried it sooner, haha. Note: You can choose up to three flavors. There is a slight upcharge for a snow cap or ice cream. read more

Friendly duo behind the counter serving up great shave ice with a smile. The shop is located in the Westin Nanea. Just walk through the main doors and take a right past the lobby. Enjoy the tropical seating area and that brain freeze at the same time. They've got a focused selection of natural and additional syrups. Choose your own flavor adventure with up to 3. The butteriest, most velvetiest shave ice ever!!! I never get any other shave ice other than Ululani's when I'm in Maui, but I would most definitely come here when I'm on this side of town. They only have about 10 flavors, but if there's a flavor you like, it might be the best shave ice ever! read more
We were looking for shave ice in Maui. We found Big Wave Shave Ice Company and found it in Westin Nanea Ocean Villas. We had to ask the staff what flavours to chose, there are so many. We decided two flavours: lychee and passion fruit and 1 scoop of Roselani ice cream, a local ice cream. It was was beautiful and hot day and it was perfect to relax and enjoy the treat. We also decided to stay at Westin Nanea Ocean Villas next time we return to Maui. read more

So delicious!!! You can't visit Maui without getting shave ice! This spot is tucked in the Westin, but easy to find after parking. Julia and Trinity were ecstatic to help us within the last 10 minutes of closing, and we were so glad to have interacted with them! Great snack, even better service. Thanks guys! read more

Excellent shave ice and friendly staff. My family and I visited their Kapalua location countless times during our trip and met the owners who are super down to earth. Their staff even went out of their way to give us recommendations on things to do and where to go we will definitely come back and highly recommend to anyone. read more
Fam always has to get shave ice when Hawaii, and Big Wave was conveniently located at the resort we were staying at, the Westin Nanea. Lucky us! The menu is simple and straightforward, which uncomplicates things. One size, up to 3 syrup flavors (some natural) optional ice cream (local Roselani vanilla, Mac nut, coconut) and ice cap (condensed milk) add ons. I always get ice cream with my shave ice and opted for mac nut. My lychee, lilikoi and tiger's blood combo was delish! I did go back for a little top off of lychee syrup, which they offered as needed. And the shaved ice itself is buttery soft - just perfect! The rest of my fam enjoyed their selections. Hubby would have loved azuki beans to add on but that wasn't an issue for me. Service was very also friendly and welcoming. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and need a shave ice fix! read more

Amazing!!! Definitely get the ice cream on the bottom. We got the haupia ice cream (coconut) on the bottom and piña colada, mango, and coconut flavoring on top with the coconut sweetened condensed milk. It was delicious. Workers were very nice and quick. You can also get it topped off with extra flavoring after you've eaten part of it for free. You can get three flavors per shaved ice read more

It was our last day in beautiful Ka'anapali, Westin Resorts, and it dawned on us that we never even had any shave ice since we arrived. Shame on us!!! LOL! Got on Yelp, sorted by rating (then by distance to where we were) and both times, this place popped up! Off we walked half a mile to where this gem was hidden! Our crew of 5 got there within the hour before they closed. Cute little walk-up counter with a straight forward menu (which we love!). The beautiful friendly ladies were so welcoming. They even let us know of the other tropical flavors they had that were not on the menu (yess!). My order: Haupia (coconut) ice cream inside with lychee, guava, and pineapple flavored shave ice (you can choose up to 3), and with Li hing mui (plum powder) on top (wow!). IYKYK! My husband and I stopped into Big Wave twice for shave Ice. We wish we would have realized how close it was to us earlier in our trip! The shave ice was delicious! They offer a variety of flavors along with the option to add ice cream or a snow cap (with regular or coconut condensed milk). They also had flavors not listed on the menu, so be sure to ask about those as well (if they don't mention it). You can choose up to 3 flavors, which I think is probably the most you'd want anyway. I had passionfruit, mango, and guava with a regular snow cap the first day and on my second day I asked for a recommendation and I got strawberry pina colada. Both were so tasty, but the strawberry pina colada was like a delicious cocktail. My husband had grape, cherry, and root beer both times and he loved it. The staff were super friendly and gave us great recommendations. The pour of the flavors was very evenly distributed and you could tell they knew what they were doing! It's a small stand in the Westin Nanea; just head into the middle of the resort. Pricing is also reasonable. Definitely recommend Big Wave Shave Ice if you're in the area! read more
This place was a bit of a surprise. I had pretty low expectations since it's located inside the hotel area and we didn't love the dining there. However, this place really was great! The line is long and moves slow, but it's truly because the employees take their time to perfect your shaved ice. We waited for about 35 minutes, but it was worth it. The employees here were sooo nice and so friendly. They have a variety of flavors, the ice has the perfect texture, and they poke holes to make sure the flavor is evenly spread. 5 stars all the way! read more
Took us a minute to find inside the hotel. Free parking available to outside guests right next to the hotel. Once you walk through the lobby to the courtyard, it's on the right side looking towards the ocean. Staff was super friendly and you could tell they enjoyed their jobs. We got ours "fully loaded" with ice cream and the topping which was DELICIOUS. ended up being about $11, but it was worth every penny. Flavors were strong without being too syrupy. Ice cream was rich and creamy. There is a great seating area to enjoy your treat right next to the shop. read more
