I made an appointment with a coupon I received in a mailer. It was for dryer vent cleaning for $29. I made the appointment for a time that I was at work, but my 2 young adult daughters were home. When Breathe EZ came to my home, they said the coupon was only for 20 feet of dryer vent cleaning, and if I wanted everything cleaned out, it would be $189.00. My daughter called me at work and didn't know what to do. I spoke to the man over the phone, and told him this was not told when I made the appointment. The service man then said he would do it for $149 instead and give me a discount. When I came home that evening, and opened my dryer, it was filthy. I had a coupon for $38, but after Dimitri inspected my vents my total quickly turned into $1179. I'm giving 5 stars though because he did a deep cleaning of all the mold and dust that built up and showed us pictures of the before and after (time stamped) so I knew he did the job right. Our whole family has been coughing recently and the dust build up had been so bad so he also installed a UV lamp. You get what you pay for, and since we are new owners of this 30 year old house there was no telling if the vents had ever been cleaned before. When the guys showed up for the appointment, the lead guy within ten minutes tried to sell me on mold cleaning for my furnace and total main vent cleaning, in total it would've been another ~$600. When I said I really only wanted the dryer vent cleaned, as per the coupon, he said that only covers taking the line out of the dryer and if I wanted a full line cleaning it was $20/per foot, another $300. As it turned out, Breathe EZ was more expensive than the other company whose asking price was around $300. How did this happen? Well, there is a thing here in the U.S. called "upselling." This means that a company like Breathe EZ will charge $38 for supposedly cleaning all air vents when in actual fact, they will only clean a few, show you a picture of your main HVAC which they had brushed and charge you extra which will cost you up to $800 in the end claiming that there are mould spores in there when there isn't. (I know this now because I had a second opinion from another vent cleaner.) I would NOT RECOMMEND this company to anyone! They do operate on the shady side. Not only do they charge excessively but they also use your electricity to power up their small electric shop vac type-equipment compared to the competitor whom I had later asked to clean our vents. He showed me pictures of my ducts and explained the difference between what they do for $38 and what a regular service job would provide.
