The service is friendly and the ambiance fast casual down to the serve yourself pastries and the cakes on display. The pastries and desserts are perfectly not too sweet and the presentation of the desserts are top notch. Must gets are the coconut blueberry cake and the strawberry cream danish. I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the bakery. When selecting your baked goods, you grab a pair of tongs and a tray and pick out your own pastries. The pastries are very reasonably priced. They also have a selection of cakes & pies behind the display case. They have so many drinks to choose from! I asked their most popular fresh fruit tea and I was told "Pineapple Passionfruit." My husband ordered that and I ordered the "Strawberry Orange." The pineapple passionfruit was a little tastier and sweeter than the strawberry orange, but both were still refreshing. I'm so glad they opened a second, larger location!! The Asian bakery vibes were immaculate!!! Once you walk in, you are greeted with the buttery, slightly sweet aroma from their Asian baked goods/bread. I didn't get a chance to try but they looked pretty legit from what I saw. Loved how they have a whole shelf with bread/buns featuring pork floss. Their boba is good as usual!! I'm sad that their avocado smoothie is a little different from before but I loved the Matcha Paradise! It was filled with coffee jelly, lotus cookie crumbles, cream, and solid matcha! I substituted the red bean with boba. Also got a chance to try their Potted Plan which reminds me of a tiramisu but with oreo crumbs (as the "dirt) and without the espresso. Underneath the oreo crumbs, there is a layer or two of chocolate cake and then a good thick layer of sweet cream! It can get a little messy so I appreciate the extra plate they give you. I was so excited to find a Taiwanese tea shop in this area. My sister in law lives ten min from brecotea, so I came here to get everyone boba, some bread and dessert. I love their bread selection and boba. I really like their taro pastry and milk bread loaf. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I don't like powder creamer but they were able to make adjustment. I think they offer whole milk and lactose free milk if you don't want powder. I enjoy my boba green milk tea and my husband enjoyed his taro matcha latte. I really love this place as it's very cozy and cute! The staffs are always friendly and very accommodating. For the pastries, they have a large variety of bread to choose from. The danish bread with creams are not very sweet. As a Los Angeles/626 native, I grew up on places like JJ bakery or 85 degrees, so finding this place made me so happy :,) Everyone should try it! Of note -- asian desserts are less sweet than traditional american desserts. So don't expect something super sweet. I tried the spongy cupcake (10/10) which tasted very similar to the ones back home. I also enjoyed the red bean bun (8/10) and the coffee-cake (10/10). The cashier recommended the coffee-cake and the marbled cheese (have not tried yet). Overall, I was honestly impressed by this place (and I have high standards for desserts!). I'll update this review as I continue to try all the bread because I definitely plan to! I did enjoy the egg tarts and I believe the plain cake and cream cheese pastry. A cheesy bread that was airy and salty. A delightful chocolate croissant. And a tasty pork bun. The prices here are incredible and the food is tasty. I haven't had any pastries, because my partner is allergic to egg - my biggest complaint is that they don't have any vegan options/dietary restriction options in their food at all. Strong pineapple and tea flavors. My only complaint was not being able to get a taste of the milk cap with every sip because the drink itself was a smoothie. She said "I don't know what a Thai tea is and I've never had one" although she said she was from Asian descent. Ordered the large brown sugar milk tea WITHOUT boba and 75% sweetness. They got the order wrong. I have tasted many brown sugar milk teas from different places that tasted great but this was subpar. This tasted like milk without any flavor, way too much ice, and they added boba which I had requested not to put in my tea. This is brecotea's second location and it is Richmond's first Asian grab-and-go bakery. I used to drive all the way up to NOVA just for pastries, but now there is finally one near me. I love all their baked goods and they are super unique. My favorite is probably the ube or durian bread, haven't had anything like it. Their drinks are on point too, and my favorite is the jasmine green milk tea. I love the variety of sweets/savory items they have. Bring your laptop here to do some work!
