The technician said that wouldn't work and instead applied a paper wrap with glue and filed it down, no topcoat or finishing touches. The result looked horrible. She initially told me it would cost $6, but then charged $8 at the end and pointed me to her Venmo to pay. Not even two minutes later, the nail broke again. I called back, explained I was frustrated, and asked for a refund but she claimed she never received the payment. I called back three more times and was hung up on each time. I paid $100 for a Dazzle Dry manicure and pedicure, and within 24 hours, my nails were peeling, chipping, and frankly--embarrassing to look at. The technician, though polite, clearly lacked proper training. She aggressively cut at my cuticles until they were raw, got polish all over my skin, and used what looked like an old, thickened brush that made application clumpy and uneven. She also had no idea how many coats were required, which rendered the entire Dazzle Dry process ineffective from the start. This was not a luxury service. This was sloppy, rushed, and completely unacceptable--especially at this price point. I left the salon with messy polish, damaged cuticles, and zero confidence in the quality or cleanliness of the tools being used. I rarely complain, but this experience deserves to be called out. I expect a refund or, at the very least, acknowledgment that this level of service is far from standard. For now, I'll be warning others to avoid. read more

Had a weird experience here. Was in town for the week and went in for a gel x fill and left with plain, unpolished nails for $50. Nail staff was nice but super pressing about how whoever did my last nails did a bad job (I've been going to the same place at home for over a year and I think they do a great job). They had a really hard time removing my gel and I'm not sure why as I've never had that issue before. They refused to do any sort of extensions at first, and then color all together. Totally understand and appreciate when salons are cautious of nail health, but I think it's one thing to advise and another thing to deny a service. My friend and I were seated and initially being helped, but as soon as more people came in, the woman doing my nails got up mid-manicure to help someone else--completely leaving me. From there, one technician was switching back and forth between me and my friend, rushing through both of our services. We were never shown the full range of colors, and when I asked to switch, I chose an opal shade they couldn't even locate because their salon didn't keep track of it. Whatever you do avoid this nail salon at all costs. TLDR: my 15 yr old cousin was assaulted by the woman in charge who burned her nails via the LED light and then grabbed her arm and clipped all her nails off for trying to leave after being verbally assaulted for asking for changes to her nails. My little 15 year old cousin was in town and wanted to get her nails done so after dinner we looked up closest salon to us which was this one. Reviews looked decent so we thought nothing of it. First red flag was the lady said anything to get us In the door and down in a seat. She told my cousin it would take only 30 minutes to do a full set of gel extensions tips. Once my cousin sat down the woman immediately started gluing on tips, it took her less than 5 minutes to glue on 5 nails, paying little to no attention to detail but it gets WAY WORSE. When my cousin finally saw how quick she was going she wanted to confirm that the woman would cut them shorter and shape them. The woman said NO. She said " you chose these nails and this length!!!" And essentially started yelling at us. I finally Interupted her because I could tell my cousin was confused and scared and I said "hey she's the customer so how can we make sure she gets the nails she wants?" The woman said she had no time to shape them or cut them (mind you there was only one other person in the salon and she was already being helped). She continued to yell at my cousin for "criticizing her work." I have never experienced anything like this. Even the other employee turned to us and said "she's crazy" speaking about this and woman who appeared to be her boss. The woman finally burned my cousin with the LED lamp and she screamed. That was absolutely enough. I said we're leaving, we'll pay you for your time but no more than $30. She started SCREAMING at us saying THESE TIPS ARE $100!!!! At which time she GRABBED MY LITTLE COUSIN AND STARTED CLIPPING OFF HER NAILS! I was in absolute shock. I could not believe she grabbed my cousin and put her hands on her. Had she just asked to clip off the nails, she would've been more than happy to sit down and take them off. Instead this woman assaulted her and left her with bruises. we filed a police report to hopefully ensure this experience never happens to anyone else. I left here paying full price for nails that are too long(she refused to cut them to the size i requested and then said she would have to charge me more and I would have to wait until she finished with another client just to get the length I wanted-This is ABUSE). As well I had to settle on a color because the one that I wanted they ran out of and couldn't find a replacement. To top it off, one of my extensions is actually crooked. After all of her years of experience, she still put it on crooked and somehow I got stuck with the results. The woman who did them was beyond rude. she was mean. I've been coming to breeze for years since I've lived in the east village. They are consistent, high quality and they spend a lot of time making sure the nails look perfect. Karen (owner) is the best! But really all of the technicians are wonderful. They did raise their prices during COVID but to me their level of quality is worth it. They've increased their price even further and keep in mind it doesn't include tax. This time I wanted to get a gel manicure and regular pedicure. Price for this has been raised yet again. Incredibly overpriced for a not so good service. They are empty for a reason. Here's my experience: I asked for a color, they were out. I asked for 2nd color. They were out. Finally had the 5th color I had to pick. She pushed my cuticles in like 4 times even though I asked her to cut the cuticles, when I asked again, she cut it and obviously it started bleeding for each finger. She started saying oh your skin is way too sensitive, you must be on medication (no I'm not). After making it bleed she sprayed with the burning spray. Once I understand, it's hygienic. But she spray 3 times after wiping it over and over. My fingers were burning and I had to tell her to stop multiple times. Anyway, after the experience, obviously overwhelmed and with burning fingers. I pay the amount + tax. Be prepared to be YELLED at if you don't tip enough. The woman started yelling at me because I wasn't tipping enough and I unfortunately had to walk out. Just because they raise their prices without actually improving their service, doesn't mean I have to tip more. I mean if it was a great service I get it - but it wasn't. And the yelling for not tipping well.. wowza. Fun fact - @lyss (from insta) walked in to get gel manicure. It was so pricey she asked if she could just do polish instead of a full pedicure. Sometime back I had an event to attend within 2 hours, so I decided i was a good time to have a spa pedicure, no polish. I've never been to this space before, yet was greeted warmly and openly. I reviewed the prices and though it was slightly higher than I prefer, I continued with a spa pedicure. The woman who worked on me, did a great Job. It took longer than anticipated, yet since I wasn't getting polish it was fine. It was relaxing overall and she worked through my winter dryness and cuticles. I had a wee bit of time to spare since I wasn't walking far, so when she asked if I was interested in a chair massage, I said sure and agreed to 10 Mins. This is where it went all downhill. I was transferred then to a gentleman who must've mistaken me for a steak that needed tenderizing because the the massage SUCKED. I mean it was like being pinched repeatedly and squeezed like lemons. The most concentration was repeated on my shoulder blades with one pass down my entire back. I LOVE spas, massages and anything relaxing... this was far from it. I asked him to ease up a bit, however his brain translated my request to curvy girl=squeeze harder. No sir. I have skin with nerves that feel your every pinch and ridiculous shoulder blade push. Unless you are trying to pinch through meat to get to my bones, ease up. Towards the end of the massage, typically a masseuse will end with light passes over your back and light stokes to 'awaken you' and finish with a low spoken "thank you"... not with Mr. Crabs. I received 2 chops and a YOU'RE DONE. The last straw was when it came time to tip. I am not one to carry much cash, and wanted to put the tip on my card. It was not the case. So the cash I had available was 15% of the bill. A perfect amount to cover the pedicure (with no polish). I typically like to tip more like 20%, however this is all the cash I had at the moment, even though I thought I had more. Then thats when all the marbles rolled down hill into a mud pit. I was brazenly yelled at for not tipping Mr. Crabs. The 10 Minute massage was 13$ or more + tax. All in, the tip would have been $3.00 I said I only have a card, no cash, if you want to take it. They then handed me a business card with a Venmo account on it. (That was a first) I took a picture of it and said I need to run, but will send it. My wifi wasn't working in the salon, so when I get out, I'll send it. Their wifi password is equal to 89 numbers and letters and Im sorry, I was pushing time to get to my event. The absolute repeated embarrassment of I didn't tip him and hovering over me while I even tried to get Venmo dowloaded onto my new phone.... was such a turn off! For 3 $??? I was a walk-in looking for a mani-pedi, and was super appreciative of the staff being able to accommodate me despite my not having made an appointment in advance. I haven't had too many experiences with getting a mani-pedi, but I have to say after my experience at Breeze I definitely felt like the bar has been set high going forward. Got a manicure and pedicure here on January 31st, 2019. The pedicure was mediocre. They didnt even give me the opportunity to sit down at the manicure table. They came and started giving me my manicure while i was still getting my pedicure which was very uncomfortable for me. Overall not the best experience. The manager did my nails and she was getting up every 3 minutes to answer the phone or straight up work on someone else's nails at the same time as mine. Took my gel nail polish off with a metro card. Kept putting my nails under the lamp without the lamp being turned on. I had to ask her twice to turn the light on because I felt like my nails weren't curing under the light long enough. Which clearly they weren't since I have 4 chipped nails after only a week. I went in for an acrylic extension gel manicure. First of all, they don't do extensions correctly. They don't do tips with the powder extension, they just put a plastic nail on like the stick on kind you would get from the pharmacy. I was skeptical about this because I know that they don't stick on very well this way. It cost $85 for this. i also asked for a 10 minute massage while they did my manicure and at first they said no and then they said they would but she was like "ONLY 10 minutes ok???" My nails started falling off the next day and now 2 days later they are all off. Usually when I get acrylic extensions they last an entire month. I have asked for a refund through my credit card company and I hope that the salon honors it otherwise I will escalate it.
