Very disappointed. Went with my boyfriend for an early dinner at 4:45pm. A server finally came over after 10-15 minutes due to a "mixup". He gave us bread and water and said he'd be back shortly to take our order; it was another 10-12 minutes before he came back to take it. We then waited about 30 minutes for our food (mind you there were literally only 4 tables in the entire restaurant at that time). Server finally came over and apologized saying the kitchen was "slow" even though it was nowhere close to being busy. Food came, I had the pollo Brelundi while my boyfriend got a chicken parm calzone -- my dish was alright, my boyfriend said the calzone was good. However, the server NEVER came over to check in and ask how things were, offer any cheese or pepper on our dishes, you get the idea. At the end of our meal we were just fed up with the lack of care & attention that Brelundi showed us. We had to wait much longer than we should have for a very early dinner reservation with few customers in the restaurant. My boyfriend complained to the manager who was very short with him, not letting him get a word in. They offered us a free dessert but we were already full & just wanted some other compensation for our troubles that evening, she would not hear my boyfriend out on any of his complaints and simply ended up comping us the price of the dessert ($6.50) and to our dismay, we left. Food was a 3/5, service 1/5. Not happy with my experience at Brelundi and will never go back. read more

This place is fantastic. Great food, superb service, awesome atmosphere. We wandered in pretty close to closing on a Sunday night. We thought they'd send us on our way as we were clearly going to be done way after everyone else. To the contrary, they welcomed us like family, insisted multiple times that we take our time, and couldn't have been warmer. The food was truly superb. My very picky son (10) and daughter (4) both gave it 10 thumbs up out of ten. The homemade pasta is great, the portions generous. The gelato is great. Service was simply fantastic. Brelundi has a rustic and lovely atmosphere, showcasing pieces of original Waltham watch factory machinery alongside a wood and brick interior accented by imported Italian goods displayed on shelves with decorative ironwork. On this particular day the kitchen and waitstaff were overwhelmed and understaffed. A sudden lunch rush caused a significant delay and temperatures were high. All may have been lost if it wasn't for the quick actions of Michael, the very friendly and knowledgeable owner, and an apologetic (and solo) waitress. They came over to personally apologize and to offer a complimentary dessert. So let's just say, they're still working out the kinks, but it should be noted that the kitchen also serves takeout orders from the whole factory as well as all of waltham. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious. Some things didn't make sense... Like the type of bread they use for their Panini's (small with seeds), but the meatballs, eggplant Parma were absolutely delicious. Additionally, The pastries are some of the best I've ever had... I suspect they are ordered in from the north end because these are the real deal. Excellent atmosphere, excellent food, excellent dessert, but a bit pricey and still working out the kinks... four stars for now but will be five stars soon, I'm sure. read more

I had the Pasta Polpette, Sicilian versión on spaghetti and 3 big meatballs! Excellent flavor! So filling I could not finish it! My husband had the Margherita Pizza, so fresh! Excellent mozzarella! I came here for lunch on a trip to visit Brandeis university. Hands down, these meatballs were beyond this plane of existence, and had reached another metaphysical dimension. That's how good they are. If you go, I beg that you order the three meatballs appetizer. You won't be disappointed! What a great find! Right off a bike trail and overlooking the Charles River, with a great selection of fresh and expertly made dishes. Tried this restaurant on a whim and I must say it was spectacular. The service was exceptional and the prices are very reasonable. We started off with the arancini which was very good and plenty enough for two. I had the ricotta/ mozzarella/ spinach calzone and my daughter ordered the margherita pizza. The complimentary bread was bad. We ordered the Spinach Gnudi and the carbonara. The gnudi was OK. Only 2 of the spinach 'balls' were cooked but the 3rd one was pretty raw. I did not say anything since we ate 2 of the 3. Carbonara was pretty bad. No taste whatsoever and the mushrooms were horrible. Our super nice waitress did not charge for that dish and took it off the table without a word. Kudos! We got a dessert on the house (Iris). Nice gesture from the restaurant. But we did not like it. Fried bread with ricotta cheese & choc.chips inside with cinnamon sugar on the outside. Many people seems to like it, but we were not fans. Overall our food was not good at all. Wonderful atmosphere, solid menu and great service. I stopped in walking by with my dogs and asked if I could sit on their deck for breakfast. I had been here once before, and it was a decent experience...mostly because the outdoor dining is quite pleasant. However, my second time at Brelundi I was thoroughly disappointed by it. Firstly, despite making reservation requests for outdoor seating, we were not given it. Service was incredibly slow, and they had run out of the bread sticks that come complimentary. As to my order, the salad I got was drenched in odd tasting dressing, and my entree (Prosciutto pizza) was rubbery and underwhelming. On top of this we were billed incorrectly and had to wait at lengths for our bill to be corrected. Despite Brelundi's convenient location I definitely do not plan on returning, and would not recommend it to others. read more

Brelundi was a wonderful surprise right in our backyard in Waltham. I've seen a couple of the commercials on phantom and decided to finally give it a try. Small little place seats maybe 40-50 in the old watch factory. You are greeted by a large open display of treats and desserts. We started with the special arancini (buffalo chicken) I ordered the short rib with house made fettuccini. The girl ordered eggplant Parmesan. The short rib was fantastic and I can be very picky with short rib. Clearly cooked low and slow as it fell apart easily with my fork. The fettuccini had great texture but the shining star was the red wine tomato sauce on top. Brought the entire dish together. The girl loves the arancini and the eggplant parmigiana. My two colleagues and i came in for dinner and although we were expecting it to be alot busier it was very quiet and we couldnt have had a better experience. Our first time here and it was amazing. Hidden gem of Waltham! Excellent service, friendly staff, and the food had all of the right elements for an enjoyable meal (flavor, volume, complimentary taste). I work in the same building as the restaurant and go here in a pinch...but I hate it every time I do. WAY to expensive for what they offer. $9 for a vegetarian sandwich which is not even put together. Literally bread open with cheese on it and a side salad - YES - a small helping of lettuce and 1 tomato ON THE SIDE?!! Add to the fact that they are open for breakfast, but don't have ANY muffins or breakfast to-go items. And every time I have gone in (sometimes I pick up food for other employees), one server is ALWAYS flustered, causing a scene yelling at the other server, or rude. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Wow! What a lovely afternoon I had at Brelundi! From the moment I entered I was greeted with a warm smile and offered a nice cool glass of ice water while I waited at the bar for my lunch companion. Michael the owner introduced himself and told me about their authentic ricotta canoli's and then offered me one to try. O M G! Light and crispy canoli shell filled with the most wonderful ricotta. Light and creamy with a hint if lemon and not too sweet. Amazing! Reminded me of the canoli I had in Stressa, Italy. Worth a stop just for dessert. Sat out on the porch overlooking the river and the huge umbrellas made for a lovely noontime lunch. Ordered chicken brelundi which had an outstanding marsala sauce that was creamy but not thick and just a hint of sherry sweatness. Crispy potatos, mushrooms and spinach completed the lunch and everything was seasoned perfectly. Fantastic. Our waiters kept our water filled and were friendly and not intrusive even when we ended up talking for there for four hours! A gift from the owner of an Iris pastry and espresso (TO DIE FOR!) completed the most outstanding lunch Ive had in a long time. The service is outstanding here from doorway to doorway and the food a delight. Must have something to fo with that increfible owner, Michael whose affable attitude keeps his employees happy. We went to Brelundi for the first time a week ago for my wife's birthday. We had heard great things about their food and they had an outdoor patio overlooking the Charles. We were greeted very warmly by the hostess, the waiter and even the manager. We mentioned that it was my wife's birthday. We had appetizers, entrees and dessert. I had the Pesce Brelundi. The dessert was a deep fried ball that had ricotta cheese inside. Everything was delicious. Just a couple of suggestions. If someone is there for a birthday, at least put a candle on their dessert. Be sensitive to people splitting dishes and give them two plates and two sets of utensils. The dessert needed a knife to open it and two dishes so we could split it, which we had to request. And when I opened my leftovers at home, they had included my shrimp tails that I had put all the way over from the food I wanted to take home. Kind of silly. Ok - you should definitely go here. The Brelundi antipasti was creative and full of tasty surprises. The pizza were all delicious. Nice sauce and generous serving. The "bambino" servings very very generous and inexpensive. Save room for the Iris - incredibly tasty dessert. It has re filling of a cannoli (with chocolate chips and ricotta) stuffed inside of a cake that's got a cinnamon sugar coating. OMG delicious. read more
