Ms. Brenda is so awesome!!! My 5 stars apply *only* to Ms. Brenda and her waxing skills. She makes sure you are comfortable and pain free for the whole waxing process. And she does such a thorough job!!! There is no need to follow up with tweezers at home after being with Ms. Brenda!!! She gives great pointers, too, about when to wax next and why. Ms. Brenda is quite the busy woman, so please please please make an appointment (and keep it!!!) should you need her services. I hate jumping from one person to another to get my brazilian done. However, after moving from LA I've found it very difficult to drive all the way to Santa Monica to my usual place due to heavy traffic and what not. Thanks to Yelp, I went to Ida and found out she was great. However, I hated the fact that while I was paying the receptionist started scolding me that I didn't inform her that I'd be waxing other places besides the brazilian. I specifically told her when I called and I knew this because everytime I call to make an appt. for my waxing needs, I make sure to let them know what kind of service I'll be getting. I do this so that they have an idea how long it'll take so that there won't be any overlaps in appts. Not only was I upset but the fact that she kept snapping at me made me never want to go back. Once again, it was that time of the month and I needed to get waxed. I looked up Yelp and saw that Brenda was a popular favorite. I made an appt. at 11 today and got there earlier as requested by Brenda. She made sure I was comfortable and explained the type of wax she would be using. I can't express how happy I was to come to Brenda. The wax she uses wasn't sticky and made the whole process almost pain-free. I love how it didn't leave any residue like other waxes and the fact that it's water-soluble was even better! Brenda made sure every hair was gone and even recommended me a solution for my ingrown hair. Afterwards, we moved onto the chair to get my eyesbrows threaded. I'm used to waxing my eyebrows but Brenda suggested for me to try it out. She was very precise and shaped them beautifully. Thank you Brenda, for the caring, loving vibe that radiates off of you. I arrived at my appointed time- and immediately noticed the caring, gentle threading she was doing on a customer-while I waited. When it was my turn, I laid all the way back on her chair while Brenda baby powdered my eyebrows- and begin to gently thread. She even- lightly wet the thread for me so it won't sting as much. thank you yet again yelp. another threading salon in the local cerritos but a little ways away from little bombay. came in for arti (and i have proven myself dyslexic for calling her rita)... and she was fabulous. she threads really gently and presses her hand over the area just threaded to take away some of the "heat" of having hairs ripped out. she takes her time and does an excellent job. had my chin, lip and eyebrows done for 17 bucks. ziba.. you are dead to me. i'd have to say rita.. i mean arti.. is one of the best i've been to in this area. the shop also has great deals on biolage and other namebrand shampoos and hair products. limited selection but i like getting two huge bottles of product for 30 bucks.. when you can pay like 25 for just one bottle at a place like cvs. will absolutely come back and most certainly do recommend. 5 stars! read more

I was at the Laura Mercier counter one day, when an indian make up artist went up to me and said, "You have to sit down. Please let me do what I can to fix your eyebrows." Was I offended? a bit. But she sounded so concerned, and I so embarassed, that I sat down immediately. I didn't say much, other than to say "sorry" when she criticized my brows. "never wax" she tells me. After about 12 minutes, i had to admit the brows were looking much better. She then proceeded to tell me to get my eyebrows done at Brenda's salon in Artesia. The owner is part indian, part chinese and she insisted i go. It's the only salon she goes to, and the woman lives in newport beach! I must say, Brenda is awesome! She explains everything she does and gives you tips on how to maintain your look. She's just so sweet and speaks english! Imagine that :) And it's only $7. Book her ahead of time, because she's one popular gal. I once had to wait a week for her! No kidding! Walk ins are acceptable, but it can be quite a wait. I've had my brows done by the other workers, and they are equally as skilled. I've never been disappointed. read more

Thanks to Yelp, I found this little place in Artesia for some good waxing down in the female region! I usually don't take risks like this when it comes to waxing but I could not go to Ziba's anymore for so many different reason that I HAD to find a better alternative. My girlfriend and I called and got appointments for brazilian waxing. I had been several times before but it was my girlfriends first time so she was definitely a little nervous! We get there and I was hoping that Arti was there. I forgot to ask for her when I made the appointment but I knew that all the reviews here had mentioned her name in it and how wonderful she was! We walk in and it isn't a fancy schmancy day spa of any sort and I loved that it wasn't! They was beauty supplies that they sell (i.e. shampoos, nail polish, hair dye..). They have some chairs for facial threading and then towards the back, more chairs, probably for hair services. The girl at the counter brings Arti out (YES!) and introduces us and I go in the back first with her. Typical waxing room, again nothing super fancy. She is so very careful with the entire process and makes sure that you aren't in too much pain! She was very detailed and the end work was fantastic! I even later found out from friends that even though they work at another waxing/threading facility, they come to Arti for their waxing! It took about 20 minutes and all done! They are very clean and I watched her use separate container for the wax. Sometimes, I freak out a little about germs but I knew I wouldn't have to worry about anything, especially watching her handle all the utensils and containers. I ended up getting my eyebrows threaded too while I was there and they were near perfect! I have oddly shaped eyebrows that sometimes make it difficult to work with but she evened both sides out, keeping it still looking natural. The owner, Brenda, was busy with another client but did take time to say hi and welcome! She let me know that if I had any questions to just ask. It also is very fairly priced here.. $30 for the waxing and only $7 for the threading! Of course, also a very generous tip for job well done and minimizing the pain! :) I have referred several people since my visit about a month ago and no one has had one complaint at all.. only all positive praises! I definitely will be making my next appointment very soon and will continue to visit them for my waxing/threading services! P.S. No worries about parking.. Tons of space! read more

And when in a real hurry and if she's the only one available, i'll go to Arti. Brenda and manesha are great. I agree that Brenda does spend some time on my eyebrows and I love it! OK, so when I first walked in I was NOT impressed and even a little bit nervous....I would never have gone into this place except that my girlfriend told me that they do fabulous eyebrow threading. I have always waxed my eyebrows but eyebrow threading is what's up these days so............. I did not have an appointment they saw me right away. I didn't even sit in the waiting area, they put me right in the chair (and this was on a Saturday!). Ten minutes later I'm walking out of there looking incredible - well, you know...looking MORE incredible (for an old chick anyway). :-) .... I'm really pleased with the work they did and even though it was a little painful under the brow....it really wasn't that much worse than waxing and the redness didn't last as long. I've been coming to get my eyebrows done with Brenda for years now! She is always so sweet & has peaceful music in the background that kinda rocks me to sleep by the time she's done. Haha. She's gentle with the threading. She brushes & trims & will fill in my eyebrows if I'm going anywhere after. Parking isn't bad if the restaurant at the end doesn't have many customers & you have to make an appointment because she's so good, she gets busy. I have been going to Brenda's for 15 years now and am "appalled" at the negative comment I see below. Brenda's is a clean, fresh and good vibe salon. There are no frills of a high end spa - correct to say - but why would anyone pay $100 to get a bikini wax just so you can smell aromatherapy oils, listen to mood music and wear a plush bathrobe. Brenda's rooms are simple and suited for what they are used for - waxing. I have been to a high end salons and the rooms are no bigger than hers. The "moo moo" is actually a lightweight material skirt that has a drawstring. This is meant to be put on after you take off your clothes to make you feel comfortable and not be exposed. It's not rocket science to figure out what it is used for. Brenda is extremely busy - because she is so good - but she DOES always acknowledges everyone that comes in and says hello. As for the "soon to be licensed hair stylist" below maybe you should become licensed and pass your test before you start passing judgement on someone that has worked extremely hard in being where she is at. Also, I had no idea what "double dipping" was so i asked a LICENSED Aesthetician and she told me. I was just at Brenda's a month ago and I saw her take the wax out of the heat bowl and put into a separate container. As far as germs go, just opening a door is sharing "germs" so that comment was not very valid. Also Brenda uses a new bed cover for EVERY Client going to be waxed. Brenda's is by far the best eyebrow threading and no frills facial/waxing salon. After I got pregnant with my second baby in less than two years, I had to start plucking my own eyebrows or go to the threading salon around the corner from my house to save time. Now that my littlest can hang staying home with daddy and big sis, I decided it was time for my poor eyebrows to start looking good again. Brenda saw my name on her appointment book and was so happy to see me. I was little embarrassed at the state of my eyebrows but she said don't worry, we'll work on them and they will be good in no time. She gave me tips on filling in the section of my eyebrows that were over plucked. The results in the mirror were amazing. I've always gotten compliments on my eyebrows when Brenda has been doing them; not so much when I do them myself or some other threader. Oh Brenda, how I missed you so... For those of you who have had the experience of Brenda's expertise then you already know firsthand that she's a talented, hardworking, meticulous, professional. Brenda has been doing my brow and lip threading and some waxing for approximately 15 years. I've been to countless others who thread and believe me when I say that no one threads like Brenda. Her technique is flawless. She could teach a class to those other "so-called threaders." Her technique should be patented because I've never seen anyone who can thread with such accuracy the way she does. The prices are reasonable too. No "threader" I've been to can get as close to the lip-line as Brenda. She rolls the thread in a downward motion over the lip line which catches all the hair at the edge and she can thread with one hand, seriously...holding an area of your lip or brow taut as she threads with the other. When she's finished with you, you're ready for your close-up. Other "threaders" have left me with so much hair that I could get waxed afterwards. She listens to you. She knows how to clean-up your brows without totally reshaping them each time you come in. I love how she can follow the natural arc of your brow and give you a soft shape. If you want a square shape, she can do that too. Personally, I prefer round with no raised arc in the middle of my brow. Thank you Brenda for all the years of dedication to my beauty. read more

Brenda is awesome! I called around 11:30 today to ask if they do underarm wax and if I can walk in. Brenda's husband said that I would need to make an appointment. So I asked if there is any opening left for today. He asked Brenda and she said I can come in at 12:30. I was 9 minutes late but she still saw me and did my waxing in less than 10 minutes! Their waxing only costs $12 too. I must say the waxing did not hurt at all considering Im in the sensitive day of the month. There were 3 ladies who had their brows threaded before I was seen and I like how Brenda did it, so I asked if I can have it done today too. She assessed my brows and said that I can come back in a week when it is thicker, I use eye brow shaver btw, and that will be my first threading. I like Brenda's honesty and friendliness!! I get a brazillian and tip out like $10-15 because its so fast and painless. I was invited to an Indian Mehndi party for a friend's bride to be. I wanted to do it up right so I called Brenda's to see if they could get me in that day. I got right in, and Kayla did my hair. She did such a beautiful job (see profile pic). She transformed my thick, straight, fine hair into a beautiful partial up-do, in less than an hour! She also took the time to do my makeup. Curls in my hair will usually fall out within an hour of doing my hair here in So. Cali, but Kayla put enough spray on it that it held for 5 hours, until I started dancing at the party! There were still curls at the end of the party, but just loose.Oh yeah, it didn't cost me an arm and a leg, I was VERY pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive it was. I usually go to Lobo Beauty to get my eyebrows and upper lip threaded. Ida is great! However, her receptionist is horrendous. She is too curt and rude when I call or walk in. I love Ida and continued to go to her because she was good at threading. I even recommended her to everyone I know. But I felt like I wanted to try somewhere new, just to see what else was out there. I sort of felt like I was cheating on Ida. Sorry to say, but Brenda is SOOOO~ much better! I made sure to call in and make an appointment for Brenda. She did such a great job. I have uneven eyebrows that are thin and have some holes, so a slight mistake can make me look like I have no brows at all. Most people thread so quickly, not really focusing on the overall shape of your brows. But she made sure to check my brows were even and fit my face. She asked what I wanted before and during the session. To top it all off! Brenda took the time to talk about how to enhance my brows and filled them in for me. I came In with my eyebrows grown in for 2 weeks since the last time I got them done but grow back and look as if its been 4 weeks! I apologized to Brenda for how bad they get and she was so nice about it! Normally it is very painful for me to get my eyebrows done anywhere else but with Brenda I don't know how she does it but It did not bother me at all! She even taught me how to color in the areas that don't have all the hair they should and it looks natural compared to some girls who over do it! Worst experience in my life! Went there for highlights on my roots, left with an orange hair on the roots and blond on the ends Got home and realized it was even worst than I thought, went back she told me she was going to tone it down , but she dyed it instead, it got even worst, and my scalp was hurting and burning... Once she finished, my hair was still orange Not to mention she was upset, and brushing my hair with an attitude, hurting me! I told her to give me my money back because I was going to another hairdresser, a professional! Went to a real professional, and he told me for now he won't do anything because my scalp is very erritaded and pink, I have to wait to have my hair done again Will have to use a hat every day (because im embarrassed of the orange) until my scalp gets better, and have my hair done.
