I'm glad I stopped at this location. This is definitely a five star review. Everything was absolutely great. Food: I went with the brisket sandwich they came with sausage as well. Everything was really good and tender. You can tell they cooked it for quite a bit of time as the spoke readings were evenly around the brisket. They did amazing job with the sausage as well. Also the banana pudding with absolutely amazing. One more thing before I forget the rib was smoked to perfection. Every single meat I had here was definitely five stars. I should've tried some of the sides as well but I knew I would before with the banana pudding. Service: The line gets long pretty quick but they move you in and out pretty fast. I would say the customer service has five stars as well. They have a really good thing going here. The next time I'm in town I will definitely stop here to eat. I was in town for business and decided to try this spot out. Showed up around 415pm and had the whole place to my self. Ordered a loaded spud with brisket and a key lime pie slice. The loaded spud was fine but the superstar was the pie. Cooked in house and had bits of lime zest. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice to see youngsters using yes sir. Called in an order, one main. and two sides and was told to "give them 30 minutes to get the order together." It was not peak meal time, When I arrived, I was forced to wait behind 2 other customers, one of who ordered at the counter at least 3 times the amount of food I ordered on the phone. I tried to tell the cashier I was there to pick up a call in order, (35 minutes after the order was placed), and was rudely told to get in line behind other customers, none of whom ordered ahead. I called this order in because I was ill and did not want to share germs and informed the staff of that fact. It did not matter. I was treated poorly. I wonder if Brendyn thinks he is now Franklin BBQ so he does not have to treat customers with basic courtesy or even civility, or if he is channeling the Soup nazi. No calling in for you!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS EXPERIENCE. Never experienced this when serviced via the food truck. DO BETTER. Brendyn, we know you can. If this is your new norm, you are not going to be in business very long, no matter how good your BBQ is and buddy, it is not that good. read more

Came across a little gem of a BBQ spot in Nacogdoches...Brendyn's BBQ. Walked up to the counter and the lady doing the meat cutting kindly gave me an overview of the menu. I already saw her make a couple of sandwiches and was impressed, she is a skilled meat cutter. I decided on the Omarvelous Brisket Taco and the Carebear sandwich...watching her stack the meat on the Carebear is sheer artistry!!! The taco is delicious and the layer of jalapeño cream corn with a bit of BBQ sauce really makes it special. The Carebear sandwich is stacked with sausage, brisket, and pulled pork...the sandwich is damned near 3" thick and the Brioche bun does a great job holding it all together. Bottom line...for the carnivore in me this sandwich makes the beast very happy! All I added was a drizzle of the BBQ sauce and the flavors of the different layers were excellent. I have to say the brisket was the shining star of the sandwich and was so tender, but the pulled pork and sausage were no slouch either. For Texas style BBQ, this place definitely lived up to it's reputation. I moved from Texas a decade ago and really miss this style BBQ. It was my first time to try Brendyn's and I loved it. I ordered the brisket sandwich and it was loaded with tender chopped meat with great smoky flavor. I told him to just put his favorite sauce on it. Not sure which one it was but it was perfect. I ate at this place today. It is superb. The brisket is so tender and moist and delicious I bought 2 pounds of it to freeze and take back to Hawaii. Me and Dad were coming in from a work project, and we stopped in Nacogdoches to find a BBQ place. We found Brendyn's, and gave it a shot. I got the McCoy's sandwich, with sliced brisket, a side of jalapeño creamed corn and a drink. Dad got a 1/2 pound of sliced brisket and sausage each, a side of Mac and cheese, and a drink. All in all, it was about 38 bucks. Little high, but we'll be fair. We'll start with the bad first. The Mac and cheese was overall not good, and is the main reason this is not a 5 star review. I didn't even taste any and I could tell it wasn't good, just by looking at it. Now that's out of the way, we'll get on with the rest of the food. The meat was satisfying enough. Very juicy, with good bark and good smoke rings on the brisket. As far as the smoky flavor, we thought it left some to be desired. However, we are BBQ fanatics that would smoke meat with mesquite, low and slow, for 12-14 hours in our own backyard. For the masses and for the restaurant experience, we thought it was good enough. The jalapeño creamed corn was the best dish on the table. If I came back here again, which I'd consider, I'd probably get just the meat, with a side of jalapeño creamed corn, and a drink. Overall, not a bad little spot to get decent BBQ. Just work on the Mac and cheese, and smoke the meat a little more. You'll have a powerhouse BBQ restaurant in no time. read more

I love BBQ. I love Texas BBQ even more than I do BBQ in general. And when I visited Nacogdoches, I was told this was the best in town and my friend insisted on me trying Brendyn's. Brendyn's seems to specialize in some very creative BBQ sandwiches and stuffed baked potatoes as opposed to the usual BBQ by weight that a lot of Central Texas BBQ standards do. Nevertheless, I proceeded to order BBQ by the pound because I came to try the BBQ.... Brisket. Good, not great. I got two thick slices of brisket which were definitely on the lean side. (FYI, the cutter makes all the difference and should ask if you want lean or moist.) Ribs. Very good. Like most places in East Texas, Brendyn's does pork ribs well. The ribs were cooked to perfection and had a slight hint of sweet to them. Brendyn's has two sauces and I tried both. Their regular sauce is a thick tomato based sauce with a touch of sweetness to it that I really liked. Their Carolina sauce has an interesting mix of vinegar and almost a mustard taste to it. If you like the original sauce at the Salt Lick, you'll like this sauce. And like the BBQ trend everywhere else, Brendyn's is getting lines. They're still working on dealing with those. read more

Really wanted to like this place but we have had two bad experiences lately that show Brendyn's does not care about quality control and would rather chance customers getting sick than throwing away obviously old food! We ordered a brisket baked potato along with a brisket sandwich to share and we noticed that the potato was very old and brown. The skin was very hard and inedible. Microwaved? Wasted money and a horrible value! Went back about a month later because we like the brisket sandwiches. The amount of meat included seems to vary depending on who the slicer is despite the fact that they use a scale to weigh the meat. We ordered a sandwich and a cream corn brisket taco. We both were sick later that night and we narrowed the culprit down to the cream corn taco. Shame on you Brendyn's for consistently deciding to err on the side of getting customers sick instead of throwing old food away! Zero stars! read more

My brother worked in a famous bbq joint and he actually laughed at their quality of food. Ribs and brisket tasted days old. Even my mom's ribs fall off the bone, not theirs. DRY.
