Sadly they do not use chicken breast for their chicken... it's thigh meat and it didn't taste good. I can not comment on the roast beef as I do not eat beef... I know, they're famous for their RB but so is other places and their chicken taste like chicken! read more

This place was so fun today. Such gracious wait staff. Big burly guy with shaved head. He is awesome. Food was fantastic. Had the roast beef sandwich with cheese dipped prior to arriving at the table and the gargola (however it's spelled) burger. Both were solid but preferred the RB with cheese best. I never quite understood the concept of a French dip sandwich. Bread, falling apart because it's been sopped up with gravy. Meat juices, getting all over your hands and most likely on your shirt. And now after finally trying Brennan and Carr's for the first time, I still don't understand it. I grew up in Brooklyn so I always passed by this place. I never really gave it a second thought until I recently saw it on Man vs. Food. So naturally, being a Travel Channel-aholic, I knew I had to try it. A friend and I came in on a Sunday afternoon at around 12:30 and the place was empty. The dining area is huge! Don't underestimate it from the looks of the outside! I ordered the roast beef sandwich (no extra dip) and as expected, most of the bread was soggy. I HATE soggy bread. With a PASSION. It looks gross. It tastes gross. It feels gross. I think you get the picture. But even through my hatred of waterlogged bread, the roast beef was still able to shine. It was a little more cooked than how I would normally like my beef but even so, it was still tender. We also tried the cheese fries. They don't skimp on the cheese! Ooey, gooey cheese wiz goodness hugged almost every strip of potato - from the summit of the fry mountain, all the way to the foothills. I would suggest getting the cheese on the side though. After a while, the fries tend to soak it up (and I think by now, you know how I feel about soggy food). I tried a bite of my friend's cheeseburger and it was pretty good. I might even like it better than Shake Shack! More meat and less grease! If I'm ever in the area for lunch, I'd definitely come back for a burger. read more

Nika, Johnny and I came here one Friday night for a late dinner. J heard about the place on Man vs Food and couldn't wait to try it. When we arrived, the place was pretty much empty but the staff was still energetic and nice. Nika ordered the Clam Chowder which was okay, she remarked it tastes like Campbell's soup. The cheesy fries she ordered were delicious but the cheese did taste a bit processed. But to be honest, who would go to a burger joint and not expect something to be processed. She also ordered a beer which she liked but almost any beer would taste good with fried foods. J ordered the Gargiulo Burger after debating for a bit. He couldn't stop raving how delicious and how the broth was like bits of heaven. He also ordered the onion rings which had thick and meaty pieces of onions coated in a crispy outer shell. I ordered the mozzarella sticks and while they were good -- they were not worth the $4. I believe it was either 3 or 4 pieces --they were not hot and melty in the middle but lukewarm. The food is pretty good and definitely affordable. A must visit, if you are craving juicy burgers and relax environment. read more

Last week, I finally tried this place after passing them by for years. I'm a fair person but I honestly do not know what the big deal is. Their burgers are a poor excuse of a burger. The (cheese)burgers are a beef patty between a bun. That's it. No lettuce, tomato, or anything else. Your own backyard burgers are most likely 10 times better. Five Guys is a better burger if you want a burger. Anyway, the B&C onion rings are great. The fries are bland, thick fries. Zero flavor. Just sliced potatoes deep fried. Not the slightest bit of seasoning of any kind. Their claim to fame roast beef sandwich is mediocre at best. They are just ok. They aren't bad. Just overrated - and overpriced. All of their posted online prices are no longer valid. They must've suddenly increased their pricing post this Corona pandemic. Most items are 1.5x their price online. Also, they are sneaky enough to not print prices on their paper menus. They left out my kid's burger and I had to drive all the way back to get it. Easy to avoid this mistake by checking items off the list as you pack them... which they obviously don't do. I was so excited to try them after reading and hearing good things, but in truth, (and I love good food), I will not be returning. I'd rather take the family to Roll n Roaster. I'm sure B&C has their fan base but I won't be recommending them or returning. read more

One of the best roast beef spots in Brooklyn. You want better roast beef? You have to head up north to Upstate NY for some Beef on Weck, and even then there's nothing better than dunking the roast beef in broth like B&C does it. Only critique is that it's gotten pricier over the years. Just like a lot of ol school Brooklyn establishments. At least it's still retained it's soul unlike many other joints that have gotten all hipster-ized. Hoping they can keep their ol school aesthetic and taste for the next 20 years. read more

I have heard that the roast beef sandwiches here are really good it was ok but the problem is that they SOAK the sandwich in beef broth. The bread was disintegrated and made it hard to eat and the cheese was cold. The onion rings were good, realwhole onions not chopped pieces. Some of the fries were undercooked. We also tried the pork roast sandwich same problem cold piece of cheese and a lot of juice poured over it but this time no disintegrating (this is only available on Wednesday and Saturday).Both sandwiches tasted good but I wouldn't return for either one. Very messy with juices running down your arms. If you visit the one very small ladies room be careful as the hot water is very hot. They have a very small parking lot that is behind the restaurant for about ten cars with handicap entrance there. There is metered parking on the street. The area to the restrooms is very tight so I don't think a wheelchair could get in there. Service is fast and friendly. Two rooms and an outside service window for ordering. read more

What can possibly be said. I. Don't kkow why it took me so long to get here but definitely regret not coming here sooner. Everything about this place is a hard 5 stars. Parking lot there and if that's full. Plenty of parking in the streets. Wait times can be a little long if you have a big party. Oh well. Small dining room and they were great about it. Service is super friendly the second you walk in and the guys in the front are great. Kept checking in on us as we were waiting there for a table. Once we were seated they got to the food pretty quick. Service was fast, friendly, and helpful. They gave us recommendations on what they like there are well which was a good idea for us. Food comes out in about 15 minutes and was amazing. Their roast beef dunked in au jus is everything you want it to be. Get it with cheese and onions and you won't be disappointed. Also tried their new fried chicken sandwich and loved it. Not a bad tab either considering how many of us there were. Broke down to about $20 a person with casual drinks. Solid 4 stars. How have I not eaten at this Brooklyn institution after living most of my life in Brooklyn?! I was in this neck of the woods for an event alone and was craving a sandwich. I wasn't originally planning on eating here but decided to give it go. Once inside I noticed they do waiter serviced and you have to be seated. Definitely wasn't expecting that for a small grill type place. The waiters here are young and quick which is nice considering the place nearly 80 years old. Onto the food. The place is no frills so do not expect any hipster bull. It's a roast beef place that dips their sandwiches and most everything else is deep fried goodness. I went ahead and got the Garguilo burger which was topped with roast beef, onions, and cheese whiz. I also asked for my burger to not be dipped. I advise that if you plan on eating here ask for the juice on the side as it will make the already amazingly soft bread into a soggy mush. The burger was cooked just right and had a nice crisp from the grill. The roast beef was nice and rare just like I like it. The onions and cheese were onions and cheese! That stuff goes good on errthang! What really took the prize for the night was their onion rings. Classic good ol'merican onion rings. Thick cut onion with that classic bread crumb batter which is fried to gold brown perfection. The prices are great for what it's worth and my whole meal was less than a $20 note which means a lot these days. I plan on returning for the roast beast sandwich next! read more

There comes a time when one proclaims the hyperbolic, "this is better than sex", and means it. With Brennan and Carr, this is truly the case, but don't worry - you have 0 chance of getting anyone pregnant and no contraceptive needed. The menu was impressively simple - variations of a few things. I waited at the window and peered in to see a cozy waiting service style establishment; a sign proclaiming "Sit Down Service Only" and waitstaff in white coats. I asked what they were famous for, and though the "Gargiulo Burger" which was claimed to be a roast-beef a-la french onion soup style by a fellow Yelper, I went with the original and a slice of blueberry pie, no ice cream this time (this autumn was the coldest we'd seen yet). As I waited and put my hands on the counter, they came back a bit sticky - strange because I thought it was just water. When I opened my sandwich to go, I realised what it was - the broth they had used to cook the roast beef. They DID NOT skimp on it when making my roast beef. Before I begin, let me precursor this with the fact that I had been in the dark ages before this sandwich. I always avoided roast-beef sandwiches that came with catering due to the inevitable dryness and thick cuts. Brennan and Carr opened my eyes to the true holiness that is a roast beef sandwich - thinly sliced, tender and moist, and dripping with juice. When I took my first bite, it tasted like a home I had forgotten about. Wow, was it good, and the pink rawness in the middle gave me a semi. I was not ready to give it up, but I couldn't stop eating. I realised immediately this had to become a new regular stop for me on my bike route, and that this was the start to something good. P.S. I only ate the pie when I got home, but the blueberry was AMAZING. The crust was beyond belief, flaking in the best of ways, and it was without a doubt, the lard that made the difference. Listen, if you like roast beef, this is where you go. Most places in Brooklyn give you a roast beef sandwich with some sort of dark gravy, but B&C gives you the juicy broth. Now if you don't like a soggy bottom, you can ask them not to put the soup on it and just get it on the side. But if you don't mind the mess, dive in and go for it. Let's get right down to it, this is a roast beef place. Yeah, there are other things on the menu, but you're here for roast beef. The only acceptable order outside of the roast beef is the infamous Gargiulo burger. If your order doesn't consist of either of those, you're bound to be disappointed, and frankly, you deserve to be. I strongly maintain that all orders should go as follows: roast beef with cheese and onions. No double dip for me. Just the regular order comes with enough jus for the sandwich. All the double dip does is completely obliterate the delicate Kaiser roll. The cheese and onions are mandatory, as they're critical elements of the sandwich, don't even think about making any substitutions. Follow that order, and I believe you'll get as close to perfection as a roast beef sandwich can attain. I save the biggest tip for last, for the unique few who can make it past the second, or third sentence of my reviews. Once you get your sandwich, you'll have to put just a little salt on it, preferably right onto the roast beef. Go ahead and try the sandwich without the salt, and then put it on if you don't believe me, it makes a world of difference. I'm positive that the vast number of negative reviews are due to people ordering the sandwich without cheese or onions, or, not adding the salt. read more

The only thing that has changed are the prices (which are still very reasonable!) Our party had a pair of roast beef sandwiches and Gargiulo Burgers (Roast Beef on a burger). They were both excellent, however, if you like a more rare roast beef, the heat or the burger will take that away. The rolls the sandwiches came on mixed with the beef broth/au jus was perfection! Roast beef is a must here. I'm on a diet lol so we got a beef plate instead of 2 roast beef sandwiches. Beef plate has the same amount of 2 roast beef sandwiches plus 2 sides for $16,75, sounds like a good deal. It also comes with bread and butter if you want to make your own sandwich. I didn't want to eat bread so that was great to me (sound lame right lol). Roast beef was medium rare so it was really soft, juicy, delicious and it has a ton of gravy which I enjoyed a lot. We got string beans and onion rings for the sides, they were ok but we were here just for the roast beef. That plate was enough for 2 people and cheaper than getting 2 sandwiches, I think. So if you are on a diet like me, better get a plate. My friend made his own sandwich so basically you can do whatever you want lol One last thing, I followed the previous review, put some salt to the roast beef and it tasted much better.
