Sonia Cerritos is an absolute gem, artist and scientist, who dazzles with feminine yet daring colors of autumn, sunset and burnished red. She is a perfectionist with her cutting style, cutting the hair in various stages of dryness for the full effect and her shampoos and head massages make you think you've died and gone to heaven. After my last encounter with hair coloring (at a place in Glendale), I was terrified of it.. Even going back to my normal hair color. Anyway, I finally decided to go back dark and came in with an appointment with Sonia. I arrived 15 minutes early, so she took me 15 minutes early (awesome)! I got a color, treatment, cut and blow dry. Ok first of all, she explained everything very very very thoroughly. Every step of the way, especially through color and treatment for dry and damaged hair, she explained what she was doing and what materials she was using. Veryyyy little chemicals. No ammonia. It was pretty cool. She didn't use hair dye for my hair either. She used something else kinda like cellophane but she said it's not cellophane. Anyway no pain no burn. Pretty quick. Color came out PERFECT. I was surprised at how good considering I had highlights and lolights and a bunch of other unpleasant stuff going on. Then she cut my hair. She gave me lots of advice on hair care and also one part of my hair was thinning and so she changed my hair part and told me how to treat that. Honestly everything came out perfect so that alone deserves 5 stars. B. Lee is an awesome salon with very friendly and personable staff. My personal hair person is Angela Le who was recommended to me by a friend, (she also specializes in make-up and extensions). She is very knowledgeable about her craft; she's honest and has a good sense of style. I genuinely trust her expertise and I do not plan on going anywhere else to get my hair cut. I went to see Courtney to get a hair cut after reading reviews here. I told the front desk what I was looking for in a stylist, namely someone who would work with the fact that I don't want to blow dry or style my hair in the morning. The receptionist asked questions about my hair type and what kind of cut I was looking for, which made me feel secure that I was actually being matched to a stylist. I don't like that the receptionist didn't mention which stylist she was booking me with or what level she was until I asked. Once I got there, Courtney again asked what my routine was, what products I used and what I wanted from a hair cut. I feel like she was really willing to work with me to get the hair cut that I wanted. I did go in with an idea of length but that is about it. Which means I can't speak to whether she can adapt red carpet cuts to work with people who don't have styling teams. I really like how the cut came out, and the fact that she said I could come back in to redo my bang if I decide to go shorter. Overall, a very good experience. Hopefully my hair will grow out well too, and I'll update my review once I know. read more

RICHARD is AMAZING! He has his own technique to put in extensions, I like to call the grant method. Changed my life! The extensions were not painful at all and very easy to maintain. I used to go to Angela at Salon Sessions, but when she moved into this new salon a few minutes from her old one, I moved with her. She is always working her magic whether it is with hair extensions, color, cut or make-up. She asks what you want, remembers what you had before and is always looking out for you to make you look good and keep your hair healthy. My hair always looks so healthy and shiny after he is done with it, and he is thee most pleasant person to chat with. It's seriously like talking to one of my girlfriends when I'm in the chair. I highly recommend him, and I've come to learn that extensions are a specialty of his. I love that he is willing to come in earlier for me, so I can dash to work right after! JANE DID MY HAIR! I initially had someone else but because I was running a little late, they scheduled me with Jane last minute and I don't regret it at all! I had auburn in my hair and I wanted to go lighter to a medium ash blonde but she advised me to take small steps in order to not burn all my hair off. I trusted her and she knew exactly what she was doing especially with Asian hair. She pulled the lightest she could get it and it turned out lighter than what I expected for the first session which was a great thing! I just felt like a haircut on a Saturday and found this place on Yelp. It's local and has great reviews...I had no idea it even existed! I called at noon and they scheduled me in for 2pm for a cut and style. I was immediately offered a drink when I walked in and I was taken to a chair shortly after. I got Tiffany Bernard and she is AWESOME! She's friendly, professional and efficient. I just wanted a trim with light layering and my side bangs trimmed up. She did exactly that without going overboard. She was also very good at explaining the products she was using without being pushy about selling them. I am thinking of getting some of the products next time I stop in because she did such a great job at letting me each of their functions. I've never had a salon where I was a 'regular' at because I never found a place I really liked. I think that is going to change now...I will definitely be going back. The prices are reasonable ($64 for a cut & style and I have long hair) and there is parking on the street and behind the salon as well. I left the place looking pretty darn great so that's a very good sign. I can't even count the number of times I've left a salon and immediately put my hair up because it was just over-styled (and yes, I'm that person that won't say anything while it's happening). I tend to let the stylist do what they want because I like to see how their vision is for my hair. It really tells you something about their skills and Tiffany did a fantastic job. Naomi is mah girllll! In October she gave me the cutest pixie cut (and I got SO many compliments). In June she color corrected my hair, which was red from highlights that were done at another salon. And just yesterday, she did balayage on my hair- which, I should add, is still really short. Angela Le is top of the tops. There might be a slight bias, as I am one who is very particular about having my hair cut darn near perfectly and Angela does nothing short of super duper fantastic. I have been going to see Dianna for I think over 5 years now. I actually followed her here from her prior salon. She is great! She does a great job with my hair and the best part is she is great about understanding what I want. While I generally want the same thing from time to time I will want to change things up and she is able to understand what I want even when I am not too clear about articulating it. I think most guys, unlike many women, don't really have the vocabulary for expressing what exactly it is we want in our hair yet somehow she figures it out. So if you are a guy who wants a consistently excellent haircut in the way you want it cut, go to Dianna. Also in addition to a great haircut,she is fun and a great conversationalist. Hmmm, reading this over I'm sure it almost sounds like a paid ad! However, I am really just a customer who is just very happy to have (finally) found someone who cuts my hair in a way that leaves my happy with it every time. Also re the salon, the people at the front desk are friendly and very competent. I also appreciate the lack of any hard sell when it comes to product unlike many salons. If your goal is to get a fantastic haircut, then this is the place to go. This is not a touchy-feely salon with a relaxing atmosphere and it's all about you you you. Just sit back and wait for your stylist to do his/her work. Because Jamie Gonzalez has long hair, I selected her as my stylist. So far I have had two haircuts by her and both have been perfect. The second time around she needed to correct a cheap trim gone wrong. That's what I get for trying to save some cash, but I'm ok with that because hair grows. Jamie dives in and gets lost in the intricacy of her work. She takes hair styling and design to an impressive artistic level. I leave with layers that seem to move in still air and a body of hair with a personality and life of its own. Naomi is the bomb! On top of the other staff that work with her there also. I've gotten ombré and a trial of hair and makeup for a budoir shoot done and I've loved my appts there. Sitting with Naomi is almost therapeutic and the end results are always perfect!! They're not a cheap salon by any means but now that I go there I keep wanting to go back for more. My stylist is Naomi and she's amazingly friendly and skilled. Initially they wanted me to come in every 4 weeks but my hair just doesn't grow fast enough so I come in every 5 weeks. I've been long overdue for a color touch up and haircut. I really like Ceci Studio in Rosemead, but I know Sammy gets really busy so appointments must be made almost six months in advance. I decided to browse yelp and find a salon with good reviews. It's always risky trying a new stylist, but I decided to give this place a try. I ended up with Sally as my hair stylist. What a small world! We know the same people and ended up having a great conversation. Aside from her friendliness, her assistant Sophie was also very sweet. The overall ambience of the salon is very cool, busy and artistic. I ended up getting bayalage highlights and a haircut. It's a very subtle change to my hairstyle, but I must say that I am very pleased with the customer service and the overall work on my hair. I have mixed feelings about this place. There is so much I like and appreciate about them, and yet in the end they didn't get me the hair colour that I wanted. Last fall I ended up getting a pixie cut (at a different hair salon) and I decided that this was the perfect time to finally live out my dream of having blue hair. I found a picture online that had the particular shade that I wanted, and I reached out to Brenton Lee Salon on Yelp to ask if they could pull it off. I had originally been looking at Asian hair salons, but my friend recently had her hair coloured here and she recommended them. They are really quick about responding on Yelp and I was able to easily set up a meeting for a hair colour consult. I came in, met with Melody, who was enthusiastic about my hair colour and confident that we could reach the desired look in 2-3 sessions. For my first actual appointment, she ended up lightening (aka bleaching) my hair twice and then colouring it twice. I really like Melody--she is a lot of fun to converse with and she definitely knows what she's doing (as you can see for yourself on her Instagram). The end result was a lighter blue than I wanted, but I knew that I wasn't supposed to get my ideal colour after the first session anyway. While it wasn't my ideal shade, the blue did come out really nicely and what I especially love is that it faded out really beautifully. I got so many compliments on my "mermaid" "ombre" hair colour! My next appointment was 6 weeks later since Melody did not want my hair to get too damaged from all the chemical treatments. I again showed her the particular shade I wanted, and emphasized that I really wanted my hair to look good in about 3 weeks when I would be travelling and taking a lot of photos. Another hair stylist suggested a dark blue to Melody, saying that it would fade out really nicely, and I agreed to it. Unfortunately because Melody was unfamiliar with this particular dye I don't think she was very comfortable with it and she did not leave it in my hair for very long. Not sure if that contributed to the end result, but that is just something I noticed. Initially my hair looked a dark blue, and I was hopeful that it would turn into the shade that I wanted. However, my hair ended up turning green by the time I went on my trip. I still got compliments on it and my pictures turned out fine, but this was definitely not the colour that I had wanted. I can't deny that Melody and this salon does good work, and I have consistently received compliments on my hair after she dyed it. I also do appreciate being pampered at this salon (they offer various beverages while you are there--I recommend the sangria) and everyone is super nice here. I also like that you can text them regarding upcoming hair appointments. But they are pretty darn pricey, and if I'm not getting the result that I wanted, is it worth it? I would definitely recommend this place, they do good work, and I have to point out that they run specials all the time (sign up for their newsletter!). But for now I have no plans to go back. read more

I decided to give Brenton Lee Salon a try, as I live in South Pasadena and always pass by it. It always looks so busy! (And it's always a good idea to support local businesses!) I have had my hair done by Melody twice now...each time, she listened to my concerns and wishes and has gone above and beyond to deliver! As many ladies feel, you don't just trust your hair to anyone... You can rest easy that Melody will have you leaving the salon doing a few hair flips (or a lot) the rest of the day and until you go back for your next service. I have had two haircuts and even decided to add color on my last visit. All of the staff are so welcoming and will make sure you feel comfortable during your service. I love this salon, and Richard is by far my favorite. I've been with him for over a year and a half and he's never disappointed. I can count on him for everything, cuts, styles, teaching me more about my hair, color, treatments, everything. And he even specializes in weaves! He's super fun and always outgoing! I see him every two-three weeks without fail, half just because I love catching up with him and where he's been traveling and all the cool stuff he does. The salon is very new and young. Came in to check out the Junior stylist, Amy, as they were having a promotional deal for Junior stylists (Normally I have Melody). I also like supporting working professionals who are looking to improve their craft. They were willing to honor the deal on a Saturday even though normally it's on Tues/Wed. I had made an appointment for a color gloss, deep conditioning treatment, and a blow dry. My correspondence was completely through texting using their appointment line. Upon arriving, the door was locked and me and another client were waiting outside for awhile before we were finally able to get buzzed in. We even tried it a few times but no on picked up. It was really weird as we both were repeat clients who had never had this problem before. I even called the studio and no one picked up. I left a text message and no one responded. Aside from this strange experience, the rest of my experience was good. We were greeted warmly at the entrance by the staff. They offered me a beverage, in which, I had a hot tea. Amy introduced herself, and I was able to choose from a selection of menu items. I didn't know what each service meant (no descriptions) so I had Amy explain to me her recommendations. I was also handed a tablet to fill out information about my hair to get a special "code" for which products work best for my hair type. I thought this process was interesting but slightly unnecessary. The entire service cost $70. It took a little over 2 hours. This was quite a steal as my hair looked fabulous! I also purchased a Wella hair lotion ($19) which seemed like the thing to get as the receptionist was adamant it worked for her flyaways. I actually take a five hour flt from the Midwest into LAX and drive to Pasadena to have him do my hair. Yes, he's that damn good! I am the kind of person that does a lot of research before I try a new hairstylist and after almost 10 years of going to the same person, I decided it was time for a change. I choose to go to JAMIE for 2 reasons: 1) her passion for hair cutting/styling and 2) her expertise. She worked for high profile shows and clients and was the artist behind some of the looks you may have seen at LA Fashion Week. She was booked solid on a Saturday, but she came in early so she accommodation me. Jamie is a great listener and asks specific questions about your hair so she knows what you want for your hair. She cut 4+ inches off my hair and I love it! Not to mention when she shampoos your hair you feel like you are in a high end spa getting a scalp massage! I was tempted to ask for a second shampoo! =) I went from long hair to short and I love it. My hair is super thin and I don't have much volume, so Jamie cut my hair in a certain way that I had instant volume! Jamie is truly an artist. I am able to recreate the body and fullness every morning with a simple round brush and a blow-dryer. I have a 2 year old, so I don't have much time in the mornings.
