Discovered this cute place next door to the gift shop. This place looks very new and clean. Luckily we were craving coffee and I ordered the nitro cold brew. My drink was very good as I also added sugar free vanilla with a shot of heavy cream. It truly woke me up lol. My husband had enjoyed his cappuccino and my niece enjoyed her mango tango smoothie. The prices are typical for Alaska and the cute concept of dining in the caboose was very fun. They also have waffle desserts that I need to try next time. The service was attentive and friendly. I would go back the next time I'm in town. read more

I would not recommend going to this "restaurant" for families with kids. As a local patron who would love to visit this location multiple times a week with their child who loves their food and drinks which takes way too long to be made. The food and coffee is not worth the wait. read more

Finally made it to this lovely gem! I'm not a coffee drinker but wanted to try the waffles, read a little, and enjoy the views. I had the Waffles with Maple Glaze and they were delicious! That's a combo I never thought of to combine. I was also able to buy a canned soda there. This was a great experience and wished I would have went more during my stay here. read more

Absolutely amazing! If you are in the area you have to try! The best waffles I think I have ever had. I got the Mother Clucker, chicken is built into the waffle. I absolutely love Brew@602! I saw this place while driving from Anchorage on the Seward Highway and hadn't noticed it before. I decided to swing up here to check it out with my wife and sister, not knowing what it was. After seeing that it was a coffee place, we each got a cup of coffee and it was definitely the best Americano I've had. I'm not a coffee snob so take that opinion for what it's worth - not much if you ask me. The way they utilized the passenger car is brilliant. You can dine on the lower level or the upper level and enjoy the views. They sell waffles, ice cream, and (obviously) coffee. The waffles and ice cream looked really good, but we only got the coffee, so I can't speak for their other options. If you're in the mood for coffee or a new place in Soldotna for breakfast, come to Brew@602! It's a nice change from Kaladi Brothers and a breath of fresh air. read more

We stopped in to Brew@602 last Monday on a whim after driving by and are so happy we did!! What a unique and cool experience to have your coffee in an old train car! The staff was super friendly, the coffee was delicious, and that shop and dining car were immaculately clean and well taken care of! It's in an antique commuter rail car that's been tastefully converted into a coffee spot that's well worth taking the time to check out. The coffee is good, with some unusual offerings. This was the first time we have stopped by. By far the best waffles I have had in Alaska. Came down prior to dipnetting, and honestly we'll make the drive from Anchorage for some of these waffles. I will also say that atmosphere is neat, it's all housed in a retired Alaska rail road car!!! Top notch food and top notch employees! This place is absolutely amazing! Such a unique creative concept for a business. They remodeled an old public rail car into an inviting classic feel coffee shop, using original seats and backs as table tops. Great ambiance with the music selection and view from atop the hill overlooking Soldotna. The coffee is top notch, with their own twist on fun tasty lattes. Visiting Soldotna over Mother's Day, daughter took me here for a breakfast. OMG... so so good. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere is train cars, the old fashion kind, what a grand idea. I love the idea of the train car. It's unique, fun and an overall different experience. However, my drink is usually always something I regret spending money on. I've ordered smoothies, mocha bean freezes, Italian sodas and lattes. I've ordered them all more than once thinking the last time was only a fluke. Which ends up leading to another disappointment. My 8 year old daughter is almost always easy to please and she ended up throwing away her almost full flat tire Italian soda in the garbage. Which was a shocker because usually she will consume and gulp down anything sweet. There are two places in the entire kenai and Soldotna area that serve the best coffee drinks in my opinion and this just isn't it for me. Although the cute little view on the top of the train car is something my kids absolutely adore and beg me to take them to on special occasions. (And I've gotta say, I wish I could leave this part out of my review. But since it's happened literally every time I've been a patron here I can't. But I wish I could ignore over hearing the owners having their discussions amongst themselves and their company literally EVERY time I've gone here. I don't want to believe that they are truly that snooty. But them sitting in such close proximity to their patrons and having the conversations I've heard them have, is making it real hard for me to believe otherwise and doesn't paint them to be all that nice.) read more

The ambiance of this place and the concept are so cool and unique; as one person was overheard saying, "this place doesn't seem like it belongs in Soldotna!". Brew@602, (or The Train) is a place with a lot of potential, very sweet staff, and a fresh idea to offer waffles & coffee. Loving waffles as I do this seemed like a dream come true, so I went to the grand opening, went back over the next month with friends and started bringing my out-of-towners. Hence, observations: ~The waffles are inconsistent. Some variance of the product is to be expected with different staff manning the waffle iron, but on more than one occasion my group will all order together and receive waffles of varying doneness and crispiness. Sometimes the waffles are a just a little raw inside, sometimes they're a little doughy. Other times they're PERFECT and those are the ones that keep me going back for more. ~There is no clear direction on what to do after an order is placed. People who ordered to-go kind of just stand around off to the side next to the people still in line and sometimes it gets really crowded in that small space. People who order to sit and stay awhile aren't told whether they should go ahead and find a table or stay and wait for their order at the counter. Sometimes staff brings your waffles & coffee to your table, sometimes people wait and then go sit when it's done, another time a staff member began bellowing for JOHN DOE, YOUR ORDER IS READY JOHN DOE, right above an elderly couple placing an order clearly startling them. This murky ordering process seems like it could turn into a problem the busier it gets in the summer if new customers aren't told what to do or where to go. The staff who work there are all extremely nice and I hope this place thrives. I hope this review provides valuable feedback so that Brew@602 can only get better and better because, I really do love me some waffles. read more

I decided to give this place a 2nd try after an initial poor experience shortly after they opened. My mother is in town visiting, so we stopped in for chai tea and a lemon waffle. The staff was friendly and efficient, and our order was delivered in a short time. The décor is wonderful, and we sat and enjoyed our treat on the upper level. Will visit again. read more
