I've had this sweet little spot bookmarked for a bit so when my internet went out for a couple of days, I had the chance to venture in and sit a spell! What a cute and homey spot. From the table mats on each table to the way the displays are filled, it's just welcoming. And the proprietor? A gem! She was really engaging and clearly had passion for her wares. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back...and to trying those cakes I now have in my fridge for later! Today I had chicken salad on a croissant and an iced coffee. Both were exactly the way I liked it! They also do cakes to order! Check them out!

The customer service here is excellent! They made a wonderful special requested coffee for me with heavy whipping cream. It was delicious. The cakes and pies will satisfy anyone's sweet tooth and there's so many choices daily. They've been around for 5 years and I'm just discovering this locally owned bakery and cafe in Fleming Island. I look forward to coming back and trying the lunch offerings very soon! Adorable business right across the street from Fleming Island high school. Great first experience!

Met a friend here for lunch recently. Their special of the day was Balsamic Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque with a drink. All for $8! Can't beat that. Very cute spot with prints all over the walls. They do custom cakes & pies, and have a dessert bar right at the front. For such a small spot they do have quite a few tables inside and a couple outside as well. The drink I got was a mixed berry tea. It was quite flavorful and refreshing. The soup was wonderful. I love tomato soup/bisque, and this one was very good. The balsamic grilled cheese was okay. Wasn't very cheesy and really didn't have a lot of flavor, even with the balsamic addition. I got a mint chocolate brownie for dessert and it was yummy. Tasted just like those thin chocolate mints you get at different restaurants. My friend had the cherry cheesecake and she said it was very good. They appear to have daily specials and some of the "regular" sandwiches sound incredible so a return visit will be happening!

Delish sandwich and salad for me and kids for our first visit. I also took home a cookies & cream cheesecake that was delicious. Friendly staff during a busy time, and interesting though cozy dining area. We'll be back.

I have been here a couple of times and it never disappoints. There is so much flavor in everything they make here ... I feel like every sandwich, salad or bowl of soup is made with love. Today I had the Chicken Caprese and a side of cucumber tomato salad... and a strawberry lemonade to wash it all down. The place is cozy and clean and reminds me of a Parisian type cafe for some reason. The staff was very friendly and happily gave me free refills of the strawberry lemonade. I will definitely be back to try more delicious meals.

This café was a delightful surprise! The food was fresh and plentiful, the service friendly, and my food allergies were accommodated. When the soup we ordered was already gone, delicious substitutions were made without question. (We're going to return for our Mother's Day brunch with family! ) My husband had the half saucy-berry-grilled cheese, beer cheese soup. I had the half Brie-apple-turkey sandwich, with a strawberry-pecan salad. It was plenty of food and scrumptious. We're very glad we tried Brew-Bakers! Five star!

The little salad had a very nice dressing and the eggs had a very tasty seasoning. Overall what a nice way to break your fast. Service--9.5/10. The only complaint I have is service was a little slow and it was a very cold morning one of our frozen days here in Northeast Florida. The combination of that meant because the young lady at the counter was taking another order that my food sat for a couple of moments before it was brought to me, and I was starting to get quite cool. Other than that, the food was fantastic, and she was clearly hustling to the best of her ability. Atmosphere--10/10. A very charming little shop. The exterior and interior are both so cute and quaint. It makes you feel very welcome. It could be a little warmer inside, but usually down here in Florida. We're dealing with the opposite end of the thermometer and trying to keep things cool so these few frosty days that we had this month definitely were more than most of us are prepared for.

If you're lucky to have her wait on you, I'm sure you'll become a regular. Just great energy. Food came out fresh and fast. Thanks to Shannon, too. They kept our food and drinks coming. And we all had a wonderful first time! Everything on their menu looks great. My grilled shrimp tacos were yummy. Definitely get the fried mushrooms if you enjoy them. They do them perfectly here. I got a bite of my brother's meatloaf, mashed potatoes and broccoli and also my sister's smothered fried chicken breast. Both entrees were flavorful, seasoned right and cooked perfectly! And my BIL's Buffalo Chicken Wings were excellent. Definitely a great place to share food and experience others' dishes. Save room for the desserts! Made in-house and the selections are great. We shared the warm chocolate chip cookie skillet with ice-cream and whipped cream and the chocolate cake. So good! Look forward to going again for a piece of their Key Lime pie. We left full and really happy. Prices are extremely reasonable and they do have Happy Hour specials. Can't believe I've never been to this neighborhood gem before!? Highly recommend!

We discovered this place quite by accident, getting lost in the parking lot. Frustrated and hungry,…read moreI decided I was in the mood for Cuban food. This place has apparently only been open for a week when we sat down, so there is probably a few 'new place' exceptions/errors that should improve over time. To be completely honest, I know next to nothing about Cuban food, having experienced maybe 2-3 Cubano sandwiches in my entire life in different parts of the world. My buddy and i decided to tread lightly and get some initial impressions of the appetizers. He ordred the Tostones, while I got the 'Cuban Cigars'. The tostones were a solid 7/10, and came as 3 pretty pieces. The "Cuban Cigars" were described as 'Cuban sandwich-flavored crispy shells', and came served in a Cohiba ashtray (top marks for presentation). They tasted ok, probably a 6.5/10, and the best way I can describe it is they tasted like Hispanic flavored Chinese eggrolls. We also ordered the Pina colada frozen drinks, which were a bit too sweet for my taste buds. In all fairness, I can't give a confident review of the entire place based on these 3 orders, and will likely come back for some of the steak entrees. They have a live music on weekends, so if you're not fully sleep on a Sunday evening, I suggest popping in here for a snack and a nightcap, listen to some oldies, before heading home.

A new Cuban gem in Fleming Island! Tried Habana Mariel Cuban Restaurant (Mindy's Cuban Kitchen for…read moreshort) after seeing a movie at the AMC theaters in Fleming Island. What a delight! The food and atmosphere were outstanding. Their menu is filled with a wide selection of Cuban favorites making it difficult to choose. My wife had the stuffed Mahi Mahi that was a large fish portion, breaded, perfectly fried and stuffed with ham and cheese. She had wonderfully spiced black beans and sweet plantains to round out the meal. I had one of their specialties, Rice with Shrimp. It was a huge mound of delightful and perfectly spiced Sazon rice stuffed with approximately a dozen or so small shrimp that was to die for and came with 4 large sweet plantains. Both dishes were large enough that we had leftovers for lunch the next day. The restaurant is nicely decorated in Cuban chic and there is authentic Cuban/latin music playing in the background to help give the restaurant a Cuban vibe. We didn't have room for dessert so we'll have to try that the next time we visit. The only thing keeping me from giving a 5 star review was the fact that the restaurant only had one server and though she was very nice, helpful in making selections and tried to be prompt, as the restaurant filled up, it was difficult to handle all the duties effectively. However, this should not deter anyone from going to Habana Mariels for lunch or dinner as I'm sure that the owners (who also own Palermo's in Orange Park--see my reviews for that wonderful Puerto Rican restaurant--will rectify this situation soon. Please give "Mindy's" the short name for Habana Mariels a try. You won't regret it.
