the fruit tea was good, nothing special though, but the ube taro latte was HORRIBLE. I got 50% sweetness, drink was so thick and sugary still. The taro is VERY grainy and has some small hard pieces, I got a piece of taro peel in my drink as well, had to throw it away after that. was drinkable

For whatever reason, I'm always mildly surprised whenever I see a boba joint in the Mission. Not sure why, given the diverse multitude of restaurants and eateries around here and boba's immense popularity, but it's always unexpected. However, for whatever reason, it felt particularly true when we unexpectedly came across Brew Cha. Not that I minded in the least - given how it was such a warm day out, we were more than happy to drop in for a cool, sweet treat! Located on the corner of 18th and a residential alley street off Mission, Brew Cha feels easy to miss if you aren't looking for it (it's the newest building on the block). Stepping inside, the space felt a bit small, especially now that they've blocked off the back part of the seating area, but they still have some tables and couches if you're looking for a place to sit (they also have some board games and a claw machine). As for the menu, it's pretty extensive, featuring a variety of fruit teas and slushes, organic matcha based drinks, milk tea, lattes, and a mix of other specialty offerings. No food/snack options from what I could tell, though. -- UBE LATTE Not bad, but not as good as I had hoped. On the plus side, this had a nice bit of milkiness/creaminess to it and the sweetness was just right (requested 50% sweet). That being said, unfortunately, the taste of the ube was really subtle/light. -- STRAWBERRY MATCHA LATTE This looked great in the photos on their ordering tablet, but what we ended up getting was just okay. Thankfully, this wasn't too sweet, but the taste of the strawberry in this was also really muted. What's more, though far from the worst thing, the consistency was a little thin. Between how we only tried two drinks and how promising some of their other drinks looked, there's a decent chance that our experience may not reflect the best that Brew Cha has to offer. At the very least, given how similar our drinks were, it's entirely possible that their lattes just aren't as good as their fruit teas, slushes, and milk tea. I certainly wouldn't mind finding out in the future, but it'll definitely have to wait until the next time I'm already in the Mission. Considering how tough parking can be, I may be curious, but I'm not that curious. THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down for now.

This is a great place to grab a refreshing drink after a hike/run in SF! Located in the Mission, it's easy to get to by foot but not so easy to drive there or find parking. Once you're inside though there are convenient kiosks for you to place your order and pick up your drink at the counter. Not much seating inside so this may be more of a grab and go place, but I love their fruit drinks so will make it a point to stop here whenever I'm in the area.

I've tried a few milk teas here now and I've loved them all. You can customize pretty much anything and I would lower the sugar level - drinks tend to be sweet. Drinks are $6-7 but some alt milks are free and most drinks come with boba Great menu selection, hard to decide what to order. The crème brûlée topping is rich without feeling too heavy and the boba here is absolutely perfect. Matcha drinks are well balanced, loved the fresh strawberry flavor. Black sesame matcha is SO good. I loved the earthy nutty flavor!

If you know me you know I take my boba VERY seriously. Brew Cha was nearby and open late so we decided to give it a try. Menu items are reasonably priced. I got the Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea with boba. Boba was delicious - perfectly chewy with the brown sugar flavor coming through. The milk tea though tasted watered down - tea flavor was not super strong and I expect a strong tea flavor from tie guan yin tea. Overall, not bad for the price.

First time trying this place. I got the brown sugar boba drink. The boba itself is chewy and melts in your mouth, but the milktea itself tasted just like regular milk. The drink I got was basically just milk with boba to me. They have an order kiosk, and parking can be hard. I'd go back again to try their other drinks next time.

I had great expectations with this place after reading the other reviews. You can't beat their price for 24oz. Unfortunately, the iPad ordering system is confusing. The typical tea shop charges for boba but "milk" is included. Brew cha includes boba but only offers speciality milk options (oat almond soy etc) so you get sweet tea similar to that of the south with a blob of boba. BUT I must admit the black tea is fantastic on its own. The clerk didn't care that I wasn't happy with the order. Nice shop but took their "sweet" time getting drinks out. Next time I'll order a specialty drink to avoid any confusion.

Was on the lookout for a slush drink and decided to stop by Brew Cha before heading over to Dolores Park. I ordered the blueberry slush while my fried tried the Chestnut Creme Brûlée Milk Tea. There was a surprisingly large line the time we went, so it took about 20 minutes for our drink to be ready. There's two kiosks for you to self-order from, and I think you would be able to place an order with a worker too if you wanted to. While waiting, we decided to give the claw machines a try -- total scam like you would expect LOL. I mean if you wanna play for vibes, then I guess it's a bit fun, but don't expect to win anything. For the drinks, I loved my blueberry slush but my friend didn't think the Chestnut Creme Brulee was that impressive. I gave it a try also and didn't really like the taste either. Overall decent boba spot.

Solid boba spot with good quality tea and a wide variety of sweet options, fruit teas, and build your own mix. The ssf location is smaller but it's less busy and by a nice walking trail. The service is quick and easy. I liked our drinks, but found the tea itself was not as strong as I'd prefer. The Ube Taro was sweet and dessert-like so I would get it again.

Dropped by here while spending some time near Dolores Park and it was a great rest place. Ordered their most popular Ube Taro Boba Tea and enjoyed the flavor but was a bit disappointed by the grainy texture. For full disclosure, perhaps I didn't mix well enough before diving in? Boba places have popped up all around San Francisco and has become a common place to go to enjoy Boba tea. The Mission had many places to get Boba over the years. When Boba Guys closed a few years ago Brew Cha has remained in the area a few blocks over and still serves one of the most natural organic Boba Teas in San Francisco on 18th street between Mission and San Carlos street. The difference between Brew Cha and other Boba places is their quality of tea and their process of using an espresso machine technology to keep the freshness and flavor of the natural tea. It's in their namesake Brew Cha (cha means tea in Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese). I got the Passion Fruit Green Tea which was not too sweet at my request to the Bobatender. It was refreshing but there was lots of seeds in the bottom of the drink. It was also tasty and you can taste the natural green tea flavor. They have lots of other good drinks on the menu like the Lavender Matcha Latte and their Ube Taro Latte. If you like organic natural tea flavors this is the place to go. Get a cup of boba from the Bobatender with natural tea from the tea ecology Brew Cha is brewing not beer but brewing premium tea with espresso machine technology

Got some tea from this Mission District shop and it helped me feel cool. It looks like a pretty simple place with a few couches inside. Brew Cha has bubble and fruit teas with boba. Okay prices. There's not a whole lot of atmosphere it seems. A lot of good flavors. It's about $5 for a tea. This is a pretty reasonable price with it being in a big cup as well. Has typical and less common flavors to choose from. I got the White Grape Fruit Tea. A good choice. This had a fruity sweetness but it wasn't like it was crazy overwhelming. Having tea is the main attraction. It's got a few couches inside but it's pretty bare bones. This is okay to hang out for a few minutes or whatever.

If ever you are in the area (San Francisco), I would highly recommend this place. I ordered the cold Ube Taro Latte and my sister had the Thai iced Tea, we were so happy with our orders especially when I'm a boba lover and I always order the same drinks but this one had different creative drinks menu so I was tempted to try something new and turns out it was the best choice I've ever made! I will definitely come back here because it is inexpensive and with this whole pandemic (COVID-19) going on, they were open! Pros: No line, nice atmosphere, clean and staff was friendly Cons: didn't like the Ube latte. Taste was bland and the texture is thick because it's basically puréed. They also ran out of regular boba so we got white boba (which was ok). Didn't like the unnecessary plastic stopper on the lid. Garbage was overflowing. read more

I decided to try this place on a whim, but it most likely won't be added to my list of boba go-to spots. I ordered the Raspberry Strawberry Tea which uses herbal tea as its base. I was quite disappointed. Typically, when I ask for less ice and regular sweetness, the drink flavor is perfect for me. But for this drink, I was basically drinking watered down strawberry juice. The free white boba tasted like regular black boba, but added nothing to my drink. There was also just one slice of strawberry in my drink and the tea bag. I think Brew Cha should work on their sweetness levels and add more pizzazz to their drinks - preferably their flavored fruit teas. The Raspberry Strawberry Tea could benefit from more strawberry bits rather than just one measly sliced strawberry. One of my go-to spots add fruit bits to most of their flavored tea drinks and that's what makes it more yummy (plus the fact that they're packed with fruit flavor). All in all, I wasn't too happy with my drink and it did not quench my thirst unfortunately. read more

I was walking back to my car after meeting a customer and saw this location. It looked new and it was very clean inside. I went with the oolong tea with no sugar and regular ice. It is nice that they give you the option of the amount of ice. On a hotter day, you might want more ice and cooler day, less. read more

Two words: not impressed. The cashier lady was nice--I'll give them that. The experience felt like an imitation of both between Boba Guys and Teaspoon. The lady explained to us that they used real fruit in their drinks and that's why they took so long, so we were pretty pumped to try it. We wanted something light because we just had dinner. After a long back and forth for recommendations, we settled on a strawberry passion fruit slushie with boba. The boba was had a nice chew to it and was warm, but the drink was clearly not made with real fruit. Bummer. Why go through telling the customers you guys use real fruits when you clearly don't? We felt so played. read more

I really liked this place-I see a lot of reviews for the same kind of drink so I figured maybe I should do a review since what we ordered was different. -I had a passion fruit tea with boba that was absolutely delicious-I got it at 50 percent sweet and it was tasty and not too sweet could have maybe even been a tad sweeter so next time I might try 75 percent. The passion fruit was fresh passionfruit which was amazing. It was super refreshing and had the perfect amount of boba. My husband got the Thai tea and he also enjoyed that. The boba was yummy and the staff were really friendly. Nothing was watered down-everything tasted very fresh. They had so many delicious fruit teas on the menu I will definitely be going back to try some more (!!!) read more

Just tried out the drinks today (ordering via Uber Eats). Ube Taro Latte: 50% sweet, lactose free milk, and boba + extra boba Oolong Milk Tea: 50% sweet, lactose free milk, and boba Rainbow Slushie: 75% sweet w/ boba I was really intrigued to try the Ube Taro, bc I like Taro and Ube but never thought to have it mixed together. And from the majority reviews, seem to be good too. It is good! I was going in with no expectations (so I won't feel underwhelmed), and I'm glad I did. It was a good mixture of both, you can taste some of the textures and little chunks of taro root w/ ube! I just wished my drink was colder... but then again it is thru delivery service so I get it. Definitely will try again THERE IN PERSON, it be even better. The boba balls were really good, I am pleasantly surprised! I was afraid it might've fallen into the group of over saturated boba shops in SF. The boba was bouncy and easy to chew, I definitely appreciate it. Oolong was pretty good, theres a good amount of tea flavor, not too milky which we like (my husband's). He was surprised how it turned out good, once again we went in with an open mind and no expectations just to give a clear review. Rainbow slushie (you choose 2 slushy flavors), for my 8 yr old. Bc we didnt want any caffeine for her, I'm glad they have the options of just fruit slushies. I'm not sure what other people are getting, but you can taste the real fruit in it. We try enough slushies to know the difference bc of our daughter (lol), so we know by now. And once again the balls were amazing! Came here on a Monday night at 7pm. My friend just adopted his cat at spca so we wanted to grab a few drinks before heading home since it was a 5 min drive from spca. I've seen so many of my friends post this cool purple drink online so I've been wanting to try Brew Tea for awhile! We don't really come to the mission often because parking sucks in this area. However thanks to the pandemic we snagged a spot right in front of the store tonight! The store was taking safety precautions, only 3 people allowed inside at a time. Me & my friend wanted to try the ube taro latte. I got the cold 24oz ube taro latte with boba and my friend got the hot version of it. Service was friendly, waited 5 mins for my drink. This place is low key pricey, 2 drinks was $13! The drink itself was decent however it didn't wow me. I do appreciate that there were real taro in there! Not that powdered stuff. The boba was cooked to perfection, had the perfect amount of chewiness in it. I felt like I was basically drinking milk with boba/taro. Overall I would stop by and give them another chance but I won't purposely drive to the mission just for Brew Cha. read more

My go-to boba spot. The tea is by far the best in SF and the boba is spot on (not too chewy, not too hard). The decor is super aesthetic (so bring your Instagram A-game) and the atmosphere is perfect for hanging out/catching up with friends. I highly recommend making a stop here if you're looking for great milk tea. Tip: Try the peach oolong milk tea (secret menu) if you're looking for a treat. You will not be disappointed! read more

Decided to check this place out because boba guys line was too long. Paid the price for adventuring. Ordered a "diamond lemon green" and "panda milk tea". Both regular sweetness and ice. The boba was good but both drinks were unbalanced in flavors in my opinion on the day that I went. The fruit tea was mostly sour, barely any tea flavor or sweetness. The milk tea came warm to the touch, the ice melted right away after I shook it myself. I asked for more ice because my drink was only slightly cooler than room temperature after the initial ice melted. Ideally I expect my milk teas to come already cold. The point of the ice is to keep the drink cool after it's served, not letting it all melt into the drink to some unknown temperature. read more

I was attracted by its decor at first: clean and relax. The sofa was very comfortable and made me about to sleep :) The owner was very friendly, she introduced the menu and gave us some suggestions. Finally we made our decisions to Ube taro latte and panda milk tea. Both of them are good! They are made with fresh ingredients, I especially love the black boba, which is warm and chewy. Highly recommend Ube taro latte, and will definitely come back to try other drinks here. read more

This place is suuuuper aesthetic! I was the first one in on a Sunday so I could study for my finals and it's such a great place to study with plenty of outlets and seating with natural lighting. The cashier even came out to give me my drink! As I was studying she also came and gave two cups of water to my friend and I as well, how considerate! Will definitely come back for more studying and chilling. I got their ube paste latte which had REAL taro chunks in it. Delicious. read more

I think I found my new favourite drink - it's the ube tattoo latte with milk. The ube and taro purée has a subtle flavour and slightly gritty/starchy texture which contrasts nicely with the chewy boba and smooth milk. Bonus: they have lactose-free options and the drink is sooo pretty! read more

Great service, good selection, a little sweet. Classic boba place. I stopped in during a random Monday afternoon, so it wasn't busy, and grabbed a fruit tea with the agar boba (my preferred boba nowadays). It wasn't exceptional, but it was still delightfully sweet, just wasn't as chewy as some of the other agar boba I've had. Tea was good, I had it lightly sweetend, and good flavors. Super cute packaging, and great for taking pictures of it. Overall, not exceptional but not the worst. With so many good boba places in the city I probably won't be back, but if you're in the area, and craving boba I would for sure try this place out. They have a huge selection, and a very adorable location. read more

More good boba in SF is always a plus. Owners/staff are very kind and helpful, and the space was not overly busy and there was plenty of seating. The Panda Milk Tea was great - very good Earl Grey flavor, and the boba was the right texture. 50% sweet was a good balance - here, the boba drinks are already less sweet than other places, so if you normally go for 50%, maybe try 75%. My partner and I got a hot and a cold, and both were good in their own right. Would definitely come back, especially since the tea is good and this spot isn't overly swarmed with customers (yet). As a plus, prices here are pretty good! read more

I got the large (24oz) cold ube taro latte. Fan of ube, I enjoyed the drink. Not only did it came with free boba but it also had pieces of taro that took me by surprise in a good way The only draw back was the price $6.51, that is pretty average here in the city with all the other "Fancy" bobba cafes popping up lately. I will come back though to try out their fruit bobba when I want to splurge on a tasty drink which maybe soon. read more

Their drinks were both tasted very good, the ube drink had chunks of it in the drink which gave the drink the perfect amount of flavor. the brown sugar latte wasn't too sweet & had a really nice brown sugar flavor as well. I would definitely recommend this place because it wasn't too expensive for a large drink & i personally liked the brown sugar latte better. read more

I ordered the Ube Taro Latte, which is a very pretty drink, but it's nothing I would want to order all the time. I love ube, and the idea just seemed like worth driving to the Mission for (I tried to avoid, because traffic can be nuts). My 2 year old daughter liked it, and drank a lot of it, because most anything with sugar pleases her. Maybe there is something else for me here? The server and the owners were very kind and provided excellent service, and I do enjoy the aesthetics of the place, but I don't know if I feel a strong need to come back. read more

Spacious with high ceilings and clean minimalist decor. A good selection of drinks ranging from standard to fruit flavored teas. You have the ability to adjust sweetness and ice levels. As this was my first time I ordered a Ceylon black milk tea at 50% sweetness, regular ice and whole milk. My friend ordered the ube latte, hot, also 50% sweetness. The drinks were made quickly but upon first sip we both noticed the lack of flavor. We asked for 50% sugar not 50% flavor! Both drinks tasted like watery versions of themselves. Made us wonder if they were pre-made and they just added more water to make it less sweet. I like how you don't have to pay additional for the boba but that's prob why the prices are a bit high. I got the white grape oolong tea, which was really simple and refreshing. I didn't really taste the white grape and the drink wasn't quite as sweet as I wanted it but the boba was good. The shop is really clean and aesthetic looking. I like how they have a bunch of board games on the rack, so it's a good place to hang out with friends read more

Tried special ube drink and matcha latte...soooo good! Nothing like this in Chicago! My family and I have tried so many other boba places in San Francisco and Brew Cha is far by my number one favorite! Serena, the owner, was very nice and welcoming! Came here on a whim and oh boy do I not regret it! The space is so clean, ample, clean and welcoming. Didn't know what to order at first, but the staff was friendly as I made my pick, ended up getting a Passion Fruit Slush with their free black boba (which ended up not as chewy/hard as I thought being in the slush) and popping boba (highly recommend!). Although I won't be getting black boba next time if I get a slush, the popping boba is the way to go fro the slush! Drink looked cute and it tasted good, will definitely be back. Boba is naturally vegan (tapioca) but it depends on the sweetener used when cooking it. I believe their black boba is sweetened with honey and their white boba is not. I would call to double check.

W Some of our many items that was a huge hit with our guests were Vietnamese vegan rolls, miso glazed black code, a toss green salad with Edamame and Asian dressing, crab deviled eggs, scallops spoon, chimichuri steak crostini, short ribs skewers, Asian style lamb meatballs, and dessert of fruit cups and mini cupcakes were perfect. There was a few dishes that wasn't as successful but overall everyone enjoyed the food. We had pre arranged to have someone to meet the catering staff early for setup but due to unknown delays they did show up until an hour before the service started which also ment they were rushed to setup the food but they did a good job to get the hot and cold foods setup before the end of the service. Overall they did a good job and the food excellent but arriving late to the event and poor timing to replenish empty dishes was disappointing also dessert wasn't served until most guest departed. We enjoyed working with Ben and appreciated the communication once it was established.

I rarely write reviews especially for a boba place because I am not loyal to any boba place. This place kills it though. I have ordered from them many times before I decided to write a review. The boba have been consistently chewy, not to mention that they come with the drink! I am so over paying extra for them elsewhere. They have the right amount of softness for my taste! Be aware though, their white boba are different from crystal boba from other tea places! The white boba are almost like the white version of black boba with less sweetness. They are not crunchy like crystal boba where a lot of times are agar boba in other tea places. There are enough milk choices for a variety of tastes. The menu is pretty extensive that includes variety of fruit tea and milk tea for personal preferences although I have yet tried their fruit tea (not a huge fan of fruit tea). But heard good reviews from friends that have. This will become my go to boba place from now on as long as they keep up the quality. Thumbs up! read more

Finally, there is boba tea shop that it is truly using the tea machine for their teas. I try a lot of tea shops around the bay areas, such as quickly. i-tea, and super cue, etc. none of them are using the tea machine for their tea. the machine us just like a display because they are still using the bucket tea for the drinks.
