So we had 2 iced coffees, 1 milk coffee and 1 mango smoothie. The drinks were all served in the milk bottle and all tasted good. Personally, I hate kiosks at boba places. Takes way too long to order. You order on the kiosk and the service was pretty quick. I ordered the mango green tea, unagi rice, and takoyaki. I was a bit disappointed with the mango green tea as it tasted watered down; I couldn't really taste the green tea? So maybe from now I will stick to their milk teas or try other fruit teas. As for the takoyaki, you can't go wrong with it, delicious and hot when it comes out. The unagi rice was yummy too, it was packed with lots of rice which really helped balance out the unagi strong and salty flavor. I've been here a few times since they've opened and yo the Mission Bay location is premium compared to the one in Chinatown and Berkeley. It's contemporary and sophisticated with splashes of wood, gold and marble design. Great place to sip and chill. You can order at the counter or tap on the kiosk if you have social anxiety. If you're on a time crunch, order ahead on yelp or uber eats so it'll be ready when you get there. Plentea offers a good selection of milk and fresh fruit tea as well as a matcha series and coffee. Most of the drinks come in glass bottle that you keep. I think a few drinks and their coffees come in plastic or compostable cups. The menu is not overwhelming which is what I like. They have unique flavaflavs such as fresh red dragon fruit, grape, blueberry and real taro milk tea. They're not about the powder or syrup life. If you're not down for tea or coffee, there's a selection of smoothies you can choose from such as red bean, avocado, pineapple and more. If you're feelin' famished they have snacks such as takoyaki and popcorn chicken and curry croquettes. There's also a few curry rice bowls, too! I've had their plentea special milk tea, the matcha plentea and their sea salt green tea so far and they have been delicious. I highly recommend the matcha plentea. It has a decent amount of matcha flavaflav but I like the twist of the crema and oreo crumbs. It really leveled the drink and was unique. And it looks like a plant when they add the mint leaf on top! The boba balls are of good consistency; bouncy and chewy with a hint of honey sweetness. Their glass bottle policy is if you bring the glass back you'll get 10% off your next order. And if you bring 10 bottles back you get a free drink. Make sure they're clean first, lol. When you reuse your glass, make sure you order at the counter so they can honor the discount and mark your glass. The workers are kind and helpful. And I even saw the owner teaching a worker how to properly whisk matcha. Overall, good drinks and reasonably priced. They're located a few minutes from Spark Social and not too far from the Chase Center. There's plenty of seating and places to take photos of your drinks. I got the grapefruit tea and my only issue is that there were a lot of grapefruit seeds in it and I if you aren't careful you could bite down thinking it was boba. That was not pleasant and they should really try to get the seeds out before serving it. My husband and daughter got milk tea and theirs was fine. They liked them. The thing we most liked was that teas came in a glass bottle that we could close if we weren't finished with it. It was a leak proof bottle so I was able to walk with it closed and not worry about spilling everywhere. I would recommend just for the bottle option! lol. The drink is quite bland, as expected since that's what the real fruit tastes like.
