For whatever reason, I'm always mildly surprised whenever I see a boba joint in the Mission. Not sure why, given the diverse multitude of restaurants and eateries around here and boba's immense popularity, but it's always unexpected. Not that I minded in the least - given how it was such a warm day out, we were more than happy to drop in for a cool, sweet treat! Located on the corner of 18th and a residential alley street off Mission, Brew Cha feels easy to miss if you aren't looking for it (it's the newest building on the block). Stepping inside, the space felt a bit small, especially now that they've blocked off the back part of the seating area, but they still have some tables and couches if you're looking for a place to sit (they also have some board games and a claw machine). As for the menu, it's pretty extensive, featuring a variety of fruit teas and slushes, organic matcha based drinks, milk tea, lattes, and a mix of other specialty offerings. No food/snack options from what I could tell, though. -- UBE LATTE Not bad, but not as good as I had hoped. On the plus side, this had a nice bit of milkiness/creaminess to it and the sweetness was just right (requested 50% sweet). That being said, unfortunately, the taste of the ube was really subtle/light. -- STRAWBERRY MATCHA LATTE This looked great in the photos on their ordering tablet, but what we ended up getting was just okay. Thankfully, this wasn't too sweet, but the taste of the strawberry in this was also really muted. What's more, though far from the worst thing, the consistency was a little thin. Between how we only tried two drinks and how promising some of their other drinks looked, there's a decent chance that our experience may not reflect the best that Brew Cha has to offer. At the very least, given how similar our drinks were, it's entirely possible that their lattes just aren't as good as their fruit teas, slushes, and milk tea. I certainly wouldn't mind finding out in the future, but it'll definitely have to wait until the next time I'm already in the Mission. This is a great place to grab a refreshing drink after a hike/run in SF! Located in the Mission, it's easy to get to by foot but not so easy to drive there or find parking. The typical tea shop charges for boba but "milk" is included. When Boba Guys closed a few years ago Brew Cha has remained in the area a few blocks over and still serves one of the most natural organic Boba Teas in San Francisco on 18th street between Mission and San Carlos street. The difference between Brew Cha and other Boba places is their quality of tea and their process of using an espresso machine technology to keep the freshness and flavor of the natural tea. It's in their namesake Brew Cha (cha means tea in Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese). I got the Passion Fruit Green Tea which was not too sweet at my request to the Bobatender. It was refreshing but there was lots of seeds in the bottom of the drink. It was also tasty and you can taste the natural green tea flavor. Got some tea from this Mission District shop and it helped me feel cool. It looks like a pretty simple place with a few couches inside. Brew Cha has bubble and fruit teas with boba. Okay prices. There's not a whole lot of atmosphere it seems. A lot of good flavors. It's about $5 for a tea. This is a pretty reasonable price with it being in a big cup as well. Has typical and less common flavors to choose from. I got the White Grape Fruit Tea. A good choice. This had a fruity sweetness but it wasn't like it was crazy overwhelming. However, I guess this made me realize that organic lactose free milk is not for me as the taste was too overpowering for me personally. May have to come back to try another one of their options. Black & Red Latte (5/5): My friend got this and I took one sip but oh my goodness this was game changing. I usually always just get milk teas but if you like black sesame and red bean defintely give this a try! They also have a version without the red bean if you prefer. I went here on a Saturday around 3:45pm and there was no wait! There was a few people sitting at the tables there at the time though. We ordered the Creme Brulee Milk Tea and the Mixed Slush with Mango & Pineapple. Both drinks were good, but the creme brulee drink tasted like normal milk tea at first. The Creme Brulee Milk Tea tasted a lot better once the creme brulee got well mixed with the tea. They also have board games and claw machines here too! I didn't play any of the board games or the claw machines, but the board games they have are games like Monopoly, Jenga!, and Connect 4 which are all fun. I'd recommend this place! It had a light starchy texture to it and the ube/taro flavor was pretty pronounced. The boba was nice, warm, and soft since I came to this place right before they opened. But to be fair, it didn't have that sweetness that I'm looking for but at least the boba had a good chew to it. Would I get this drink again? Personally for me no, but it was good to try! The staff are very friendly. But the drinks take 10-15min. However, their door sensor goes off every 0.0005 seconds so you will hear a "ding dong ding dong" nonstop. And I mean it, nonstop. It doesn't help either that customers are brainless and waiting for their drinks right at the door triggering the sensor to go off. Think people think! move the F away from the door, please!!!! And as if that's not enough, when you sit at the table you might get epilepsy because of the ceiling fan and the light that shines from behind. It makes the light flicker non stop. I have been wanting to go to this Boba shop for a while and finally got the chance when I was nearby while it was still open. First impressions, it looked okay. It at least had some nice screen menus and a kiosk. There was also some claw games and board games you can play there. However, not a very good array of prizes or games. All of the drinks we ordered with Lactose Free Milk and less Ice. The Ube Taro Latte was okay. You could kind of taste the Ube and Taro, but it was mostly watered down by the Milk. Definitely not even close to the best that I have had before. The Matcha Lavender Latte was mostly a green colored Lavender Latte. You couldn't even taste the Matcha since it was way overpowered by the Lavender flavor. The Jasmine Green Milk Tea was the worst of all. This was even worse than your regular basic Jasmine Milk Tea since it tasted like the basic Lipton Tea. We had to force ourselves to drink that one. As for the Boba itself, it was okay. It was thankfully not hard and was on the softer side of life. But definitely had better quality Boba. Overall, the trip to this Boba shop was a big waste of money and time. Very subpar Tea here. Saturday 02.11.2023 This place is delicious! It's been difficult to actually find a boba place where I'm like "dang, this is GOOD!" That's how I felt, until I found out about Brew Cha! I ordered a large Black Sugar Crème Brûlée latte with boba pearls, oat milk, 75% sweetness and less ice. I want to start off by saying, thank you for not charging extra for oat milk! There are other boba shops that charge extra for non-dairy milk options and it's just not right, especially for those who are lactose intolerant. So Kudos to Brew Cha being accommodating. Also, they don't charge extra for the boba pearls, unless you want extra boba, then it's like a $0.60 extra charge. I really like that you're able to further customize your drink. For instance, you can choose your sweetness level, amount of ice, type of milk you prefer (or even no milk), and additional toppings of your choosing. Their eco friendly straws here aren't flimsy like the cheap bamboo ones or the paper ones, so that's a plus. I was actually able to enjoy the drink without worrying about my straw breaking. The flavor of the drink was amazing! I really loved the crème brûlée on the top. The boba pearls were nice and chewy. I dislike when they're undercooked or too mushy. I think next time I might order 50% sweetness instead of 75%. It was a tad too sweet, but I think that's because the crème brûlée is naturally already really sweet. It did have a nice creamy and rich flavor! I'm actually surprised that I didn't get a sugar rush or crash from all the sugar in this drink haha. I never really drink lattes, and I'm not big on sweets, so when I say something sweet is good, it means it's REALLY GOOD. LOL.
