I've been here maybe 3-4 times, and maybe I'm missing something from other people's 5 star reviews, but IDK this place always seems kinda dead to me whenever I go even on a Friday/Saturday night. It's a great bar if you're looking to just get a quick drink and catch up in a chill atmosphere (not a loud bar where you can hardly hear your friend). Prices seem reasonable but nothing out of the norm. They have good choices of beers and they happened to have ciders which I appreciate. Having a large group of 10+ people, we decided to catch up on some sunday football, hang out and enjoy a few beers, so we ended up here and overall it was a good experience...! The place was a bit crowded, however the owners were willing to relocate some other patrons to accommodate us with two adjacent booths. Beer choices were plenty and the food options were appealing. Chicken wings, loaded nachos, onion rings, fries, etc were ordered and were all viable options for a great time. The nachos and onion rings stood out....! Great food and amazing wings. Great place to hang. The management or owner very friendly. They have a great selection of draft beers. They also have a full bar. But hot summer night a cold brew does the trick. Great place to watch any sporting event no matter where you sit or stand you can't miss what's be televised as there are screens everywhere. Also awesome place to throw darts. These place seems to house champions dart throws. There's lots of trophies memorabilia on the walls. I used to go to this place when it was Celtic Corner, and this place is by far better. They have made some much needed improvements, and now it looks like a reputable pub. Totally renovated, with new TV's a brand new internet juke box, and very clean bathrooms. (Thank God) The bartender, Sarah,, was very engaging, polite, and helpful. She made certain that our drinks were always topped off and was very sociable. By the time we arrived, the kitchen was already closed, but I took a look at the menu and it looked pretty decent. I used to work at Club 21 in NHP and I remember when this little cozy bar was The Cobbler. I was truly amazed that locals remember as well. Good atmosphere, nice, friendly staff and cold drinks. I was gonna order the Roast Beef Hero, but my craving for slices kicked in. Here for work and NY pizza was just calling my name. Drinks here at the Brew House, then slices at Umberto's. The bartender was really nice. He started calling me by my name as soon as I opened a tab. At the end of the night, he did a buyback, for which I tipped well. Drafts of Coors Light only $4. This certainly isn't a craft beer oriented bar, but it's great to hang out in and drink some cheap beer and/or good priced mixed drinks. It wasn't too crowded on a Friday night either, which I like. 5 Stars are not enough and do not do justice to the All Stars and Superstars at this great, great place. I lucked into finding this place on my way to Hand Rolled Bagels a couple of stores down. I popped in on Monday around noon and met a really nice gentleman named Kenny who was bartending and just warm, welcoming and told me about the Team Trivia on Wednesday night. What an amazing place and a fun, beautiful evening. If I was to give 5 stars, here is why with a star for each: 1) Bartender Christine - amazing, spunky, full of life, real, welcomed me like I was a lifelong customer and friend. Never been to a bar and experienced this and her genuine attitude ever. She also introduced me to another patron Evan who was kind enough to include me on his team with his two friends. Amazing multitasker handling the bar and waiting on tables, bringing out the amazing wings and burgers. 2) The best and tastiest Grilled cheese and tomato sandwich I have had in a long time. Sunday 4/24 update had the 3 egg omelette with tomatoes, onions, bell peppers plus cheddar and it was solid. Jen the Sunday am bartender/hostess/ waitress was amazing. 3) The trivia event hosted by this super, super guy named Bob. Attended many a team trivia events in Md, Fl and Az but never had a host who was so good , sharp and quick; connected & interacted with everyone and I do mean a whole spectrum of ages and nationalities, kept it fun, lively and suspenseful for almost 140 minutes. Amazing! 4) Amazing prices - Sandwich, side salad plus two glasses of Merlot for twenty bucks. 5) Bartenders Kenny, Mike( also a sweet kid) and Christine bought me a round. Listen, I've been a late night prospector of many bars, I've played competitive bar room darts for over a decade. At least 120 different bars, this place is the grundle of Satan's taint. Besides the "dart" board which has no substantial backing to prevent spin of the dartboard(single screw into the back of the dart board into those shit brackets, no coasters to beef up the board to provide snuggness) and the 4 foot round-top table infront of it that I had to move(prior to moving the 3 different types of chairs that were tucked into the BS dart Trophy ridden wall enclave,) I tossed my darts for 20 minutes of practice into the desolate area while a fight ensued at the front of the bar, where the bar owner ensured one party of the fight that he has his back, repeatedly while encroaching on my secluded area. After their sweet nothings were exchanged and the aggressive party removed. I left my darts on the table to procure another beverage, at which point the barback hit my darts thinking they were the "bars" property. When I had asked for my darts the bartender responded with last call, kind of going through the motions as if he was aparty to one too many head traumas. After 10 minutes they found my $250 set of darts. Yay!!(I still tipped the tender well,$20 tip ontop of my 4 beers,) to take the cake after this debauchery of ridiculousness, instantly the owner then proceeds to aggressively quiz me on all of the current staff's names, at which I answer all names, including his correctly, (even got him to refer to himself as the owner, Dennis, in the third person),he proceeded to "kick" me out in an agressive manner. I pleasantly said thank you sir, but I will never be coming back to this establishment ever again, which threw him into a tirade that he doesn't need my business, he has a monopoly on the area's "drunks." I'm honestly not the type of person to hop on the internet to air grievances, but out of my 15 years of drinking, never have I encountered such a P.O.S. owner. Just by seeing the customer interactions in one night, the cliente here has a feeling like they owe this owner something, as if he "has their back," based solely on that they are allowed to drink alcoholic beverages there. I had an outstanding experience today with my family. We were there to celebrate my poppy's 86th birthday. They were able to accommodate a party of 12 people along with my grandfather, who is wheel chair bound. The service was STUPENDOUS! Kenny and his partner were extremely accommodating. They even let us bring our own dessert for the birthday boy. The food was delicious and there was a nice variety of beers on tap. There was a fun (free) photo booth in the back and the tunes they played were stellar. We loved playing darts as well. The patrons there were also really kind. Yelp needs to step it up with a ZERO star review because that's what this place deserves. Went there for lunch today with 3 buddies to enjoy the first day of the NCAA Tournament. As soon as I walked in I knew this was a bad idea. Only 3 other patrons were in the place, and no employee(s) in sight. After a few minutes of us waiting (and debating whether to go somewhere else), out comes some creepy old dude from the back to seat us. Still skeptical, we decided to be nice by staying and grabbing a bite. Again, bad idea. All 4 of us ordered the standard cheeseburger with fries. Old creepy guy must have been the bartender AND the cook, because he would disappear for super long after our order was in. While we waited, old creepy guy took so long that I started to get the feeling that he was putting something sinister in our meals. I thought we might not even make it out of there alive. Eventually the burgers come out and, what a surprise.....they were terrible. The burger tasted like my mom's meatloaf and the fries tasted (and looked) microwaved. The best part about my meal? The friggin' bun. And the cost of this horrible meal? $15 bucks. That's more than a burger at Peter Luger's for christ's sake. And to all you other reviewers who gave this place 5 stars and said the food was great.......you must be out your damn mind. This was the worst food I've ever had in my 32 years on this Earth. This review might sound harsh, but old creepy guy needs to know that he simply didn't do a good job today. Was old creepy guy the owner? Not sure, but if he is, he needs to step his game up up if this place will survive. One silver lining and a bit of kudos I will give to old creepy guy is that on the way out he gave the 4 of us vouchers for a free drink next time we come in. This place is great! During NFL season they have amazing drink specials that is completely worth your money. I went on a Wednesday Night and it happened to be Trivia Night. The host, bartenders, and waiters/waitresses were extremely nice. The wings were pretty good. Better than Buffalo Wild Wings in my opinion. However the bar tender (elderly lady) was focus more with friends and chatting than been helpful, she even forgot to pass on the stencil and when I order my beer she forgot, she seem to be racists in a way since the com was Spanish and just because he was been friendly and helpful she treated him like she was the owner, mean while he was been helpful. By far the best bar on the queens/nassau border. The bartenders here are the absolute best and make you feel at home the minute you sit down. Buy backs aplenty, everyone remembers your name and the weekday happy hour bartender Rita will keep you laughing and your glass full. I usually have a satisfactory experience, at The Brew house, however, last night tells a different story. I went there to grab a bite with a friend and the customer service was lousy. The waiter failed to bring us bread. It took for what seemed like an eternity for us to be served. When we finally received our meals, the food was cold. It was probably sitting out on the counter for a while before somebody finally remembered to serve us. The burger was much smaller than usual and we hardly had any fries on our plate, so I decided to look around. People had larger burgers with a heaping amount of fries. Bread baskets sat on each table and people who arrived after us were being served much more promptly. Nobody walked over to us to ask us if everything was okay and if we needed anything else. We weren't even half way through, the server rudely walks over to us, asks us if he could take our plates (mind you, we were still eating because we had JUST received our food about 5 minutes prior) and then quickly adds that he'll bring the check to us, which he did in 30 seconds flat. The place wasn't even full. I'm sure he wasn't happy with his tip. Oh well! read more
