    Saigonese Coffee

I learned about the recent opening of this cafe from a Yelp search. Brew Lab seems to be a Vietnamese / Asian fusion sort of coffee house and cafe. According to their menu on the wall, they will serve Banh Mi, Mochi Donuts and Croffles. All things I'm interested in. Drink-wise, they'll have Vietnamese style coffees, lattes, Refreshers, fruit teas, etc. The people are friendly and the space is cute. Brew Lab seems to be in their Soft Opening stage. So I'm going to overlook some things. Like their Yelp page says they're open at 7 am. But their doors were locked when I arrived at 7:30. That's when I learned from a Google search result that they're open at 8. In any event, while I was trying to figure out what to do in my car, they apparently saw me and unlocked the door. I asked about the time discrepancy, and a guy who seemed to be an owner suggested that they are open at 7, but I wasn't entirely clear on whether that's true. Also, I tried to order a mochi donut, but they did not have any fresh made ones and the ones they had were experimental from the day before and they understandably did not offer them to me. So it seems like you may need to wait for their full menu. I'm unlikely to return for coffee. I'm strictly a black iced coffee drinker. It does not seem like they're going to offer either black cold brew or iced coffee. The man helping me suggested an Iced Saigonese Coffee. I was not familiar with that. From a bit of research, it appears Saigonese coffee is made from Robusta (rather than Arabica) and sweetened with condensed milk. I can't speak to whether this was an authentic Saigonese Coffee, but it was too sweet and light for me to enjoy. Although I wasn't a fan of the coffee, I'm going to give them 3.5 Stars for now and I'll update my review after trying their food.

Mocha Latte - Rose Fruit Tea w/ Lychee jelly

Nice Staff, Clean Interior, syrup is not house made and they used crushed ice which melts fast. Expresso is decent, mocha has little to no sweetness and Oat milk is not full fat. Don't know if we'd come for coffee drinks since there are better options for that near by. The kids enjoyed their fruit Slushies. I loved my Rose Fruit Iced Tea with Lychee jelly. I will definitely come back if looking to get one of those again. And the Slushie are a nice treat for the kids

Brew Lab is this cute little cafe in Rocky Hill serving delicious bites and coffee. Their menu comprises of mochi donuts and croffles among other things. They are occupying what previously was Dunkin on Silas Dean Highway. I do love the refurbishment of the decor and comfy seating. They cleanup well after a customer has left too, wiping down tables and chairs. Don't mistake that one should still clean up after themselves and throw away their trash. The beverages are most delicious and was worth the trip. I tried their chicken and fries, and that may need some work or.. a different type of sauce. All I'll say is that the chicken is tough and has no flavor on its own. It's definitely crispy though and same goes for the fries. The Strawberry and Cream croffle was delectable. It is a cross between a croissant and a waffle so it didn't have the softness and airiness of a waffle. It sure tasted like a croissant and compressed. The plastic fork and knife I had almost couldn't withstand the effort. It was an overall good visit and looking forward to their grand opening. I'm hoping to try a few other things on my return.

This new café is the cutest featuring yummy drinks and delicious desserts. Adorable interior, friendly service, and a great ambience. A great spot to catch up with friends. The Ube latte with a shot of espresso and oat milk was divine. Their croissant-waffles "croffles" are yummy and fun!

Since I knew I would be waiting, I politely asked if I could use the restroom. I was told no. I initially assumed there had been a misunderstanding, so I explained that I wasn't a random passerby looking for a public restroom. I was there to pick up an active DoorDash order and would be waiting while they finished preparing it. Unlike employees who have a workplace with designated break areas and restroom access, delivery drivers spend their entire workday on the road. We don't have a home base to return to between orders. Because of that, we often rely on the basic courtesy of restaurants and businesses we partner with while conducting pickups and deliveries. Most businesses understand this and treat drivers respectfully. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. What happened next was what bothered me most. Rather than simply explaining their policy and treating me with basic courtesy, the employees largely stopped engaging with me altogether. They avoided eye contact, ignored my attempts to communicate, and acted as though I wasn't standing there. It was an incredibly dehumanizing experience. After waiting several more minutes, I said, "I could have been done by now." The only response I received was, "It's not for the public." I again explained that I was there for an active pickup and was waiting on an order that still wasn't ready. Once again, I was met with silence. To be clear, I completely understand that businesses located on busy commercial streets cannot allow every random person who walks in off the street to use their restroom. That's not what this situation was. I was there performing a service directly connected to their business. DoorDash drivers are part of the fulfillment process that allows restaurants to participate in DoorDash, reach additional customers, and generate revenue from delivery orders. I wasn't asking for special treatment--just the basic courtesy of using the restroom while waiting on an order that they were still preparing. What makes this even more frustrating is that if the order had been ready when I arrived, I would have already been gone. The only reason I was standing there waiting was because of the restaurant's delay. At that point, I decided to unassign myself from the order, even though it was a high-paying delivery. If a business is unwilling to show basic respect to the drivers helping deliver its orders, then it can find someone else to complete those deliveries. I will also be reporting this experience to DoorDash so they are aware of how drivers are being treated at this location. To fellow Dashers: I strongly encourage you to decline orders from this establishment and spend your time supporting businesses that treat delivery drivers with professionalism and basic human dignity. To potential customers: please consider whether this is the kind of business you want to support. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, including the people helping get your food to your door.
