Parking is abundant on the street as well as the parking lot The outdoor seating which was also dog friendly is a plus! Upon arriving and waiting in line which is a good sign of good coffee , a patron was walking out with 2 jugs of some kind of cold drink. When asked the patron replied it's iced horchata coffee and that's so I don't need to come back everyday Wow . Ok! It's like that . I ordered a hot horchata coffee and it was out of this world phenomenal. It had a great balance of coffee to horchata . Made and poured with love A taste of what abuelitas coffee tastes like With great drinks they also have a bakery inside. I really want to love this place--it's our local café, and it has so much potential. But unfortunately, the experience doesn't always match the charm. The prices are on the high side, and the service is frustratingly slow. The baristas don't seem to have much urgency, which makes even simple orders take much longer than they should. Yesterday, I waited 15 minutes for a single empanada to be heated up--even though I was the only person in line. By the time I got my food, I wasn't exactly thrilled, but I still said thank you. Love this place! Anytime I'm around their location I have to stop by for a coffee. I live 20 minutes away so anytime I'm nearby it's a must and I'll be honest a few times I drive out just for coffee from here. My favorite is the horchata latte or the horchata cold brew since they do it so well here. The concha's, cinnamon rolls, and churro cinnamon twists are to dry for. I've been coming since they've opened and it's so nice to see them grow. They now have more indoor seating and even have cute indoor hanging chairs to sit in. I love their aesthetic and how they also have cute themed drinks. I've always gotten my drink fast within 5-10 minutes and the wait is never long. Sad news! It looks like the owner of gala bakery is retiring soon!!! Her cupcakes and cakes were not only beautiful but extremely decadent! I will miss them!!!! We came in around 2pm today because I was craving their super yummy banana milk coffee. Unfortunately, they were out today :( It seemed like they were actually out of a lot of items.... Even their display case looked sad. I'm not sure if it's the staff who were in today but my experience has definitely changed from the cafe's early days.... It used to be bright and cheery and the worker or owners were very proud of the items they sold. Today, half of the cafe's lights were not on... their WiFi password or Wi-Fi doesn't work..... the staff seemed like teenagers who didn't care about their jobs and were annoyed of me asking questions... Came here on a Saturday morning and it was pretty busy. Parking was a little tough in the lot but plenty of people going and leaving. We ordered the Dulce de Leche Latte and the Horchata Latte. Both were pretty solid coffees and I'd come back here again to get them. We also got the Cubano Breakfast Sandwich, which looks more like a burger, but it was really good. I'd come back more for this than the coffee! Loved the flavor of everything and egg in sandwiches always makes it better. For the atmosphere, area is pretty cute but the lighting is pretty dark, I wish there were brighter lights or more natural light let in. I find it really upsetting, that this place is always out of everything! They have a signature avocado toast that my family and I really enjoy but they're continuously out of ingredients to make it. Today they literally didn't have avocados lol. It's pretty much an every time event that we come here and they don't have something! They do have really good products for the most part, but a part of running a business is keeping up with supply and demand. I've come here before and they didn't have hot coffee as an option, only had cold brew! Today was really disappointing because to make an annoying situation even more annoying my partner loves their empanadas which are normally really delicious to him. IDK if there's been a change of ownership but their staff in the mornings from 7am-8:30am during the week are in the back having customers wait for service way too long. Nobody seems be ready and available in the front to take orders. There's no sense of urgency to take orders so their service is poor quality at this right now. And the owner or the manager need to tell their staff this immediately. "Nobody wants to work." Everyone appears lazy, and moves slow like slugs. When there's down time they need to find things to do like putting to-go boxes together for big orders that consist of more than 10 pastries to take-out. $5 for a concha? $5 for a banana bread slice? $5.25 for spinach feta croissant? Coffee was amazing and I also got a spinach and feta pastry which hit the spot! Ate that as I was driving to work. As a coffee drinker I like to taste my coffee not the sugar! Heard about this place from my co-workers. They really liked the coffee here. Ended up ordering for pickup here Sunday morning. Right when we got there we got our order quick. We only decided to order 2 drinks. My boyfriend ordered the coquito iced coffee. He said the drink was sweet but he enjoyed it. I ordered the lavender latte. I live relatively near Brewja's and so very much want to support a great bakery in my community. I've emailed them on at least two separate occasions to share that the cheddar jalapeno scones were underbaked in the center, hoping they would figure out their baking times. I never received a response. We keep trying the scones because when they are done right, they are perfection! Recently, I ordered three of the scones to add to our breakfast. All three were again undercooked in the center. At $6.50 per scone, plus tax and tip, this is a costly mistake. I wrote them, sharing the pictures I attached below. This time, I asked for a refund. I again received no response. I later received an automatic email asking for a review. I left an honest review showing the pictures of the scones for their website, and asked for a refund of the scones - $19.50, and a small part of our order. The review is not posted and again I received no response. Each time I go in person, lines are sufficiently long that I have not attempted to talk to them, hoping that an email would be sufficient. I'm writing this review but want to be clear it's not actually about getting the refund. I'm happy to spend money at a business I love and did not ask for a respond the other times I tried to alert them to the issue. This is about never receiving a response. I don't mind if a bakery is off every so often on their quality control. Mistakes happen. I am very disappointed when a vendor does not stand by their products, however. With these scones however, 50% of the time we order them, they are not cooked through and the lack of response is frustrating. read more

My little bruja soul has been dying to drive this spot! It's super duper far out from San Jose but since we were already in Oakland, today was the day. I have a hard time giving them less than five stars but that's what Yelp is for, right? I've been here a several times. I really like the flavor of the coffee and my go-to is the Iced Cafe con Leche. I don't really care for the flavor of milk so I always ask for heavy cream. Except....in like 10 times, they've only had it once. So, ok - I ask for almond milk. Well, that costs extra. Don't get me wrong - the coffee is good and the pastries (cinnamon twists) that they have are so good but it can be a pricey habit. Only reason I give them less than five is because today it happened again. Went in for two coffees and a pastry ($19) and since they didn't have any heavy cream - ask for oat milk. There was NO one there but I had to wait to the point that I questioned myself and if I actually ordered. The baristas were doing other things, it was so odd. When finally they started my order - I saw that she grabbed the whole milk. Well, I mentioned it to them, asked for the refund on the milk and took my coffee with me. I didn't have time to wait for a re-do. Worst part was that I couldn't enjoy it and ended up throwing away my 16oz $5 plus dollar coffee. Sadness. I would give a 5 review for the food! It's always delicious, I got the Caprese toast, and a guava pastry and iced lavender latte. Unfortunately their customer service would get 1 . I hadn't been here in over a year because last time their customer service was terrible. The coffee is good, especially if you like super sweet drinks. They have lots of pastries, including adorable (and tasty) conchas which come in a variety of enchanting colors. What a wonderful little spot! It's nice, quaint and and reminds me of something you'd find in a city but lucky enough to be located in a more quiet part of town.
