Came here for the first time. Decided to get my staple drink , A standard vanilla latte with extra vanilla and an add shot. Wife got a Mexican mocha, and daughter got an iced coffee. The drinks were sub par. For $21 plus tips. The Vanilla late had nearly zero coffee flavor to it, it was almost a light vanilla milk. I am highly suspect that there was no added espresso shot along with no added vanilla. The side of the cup also did not indicated that I paid for any of the added extras. The side of the cup only stated "VL". Which one can gather means vanilla late. I really do like the ambiance of the shop. It is well organized and seems like a very nice chill place to hang out. If only the coffee was better. I was excited to see that they do pull their own shots of espresso and do not use automated machines, and steam their own milk (If only some of that espresso made it into my drink). If I wanted a nice place to hang out, this shop has the space and the ambiance. If I wanted a place to get great coffee I would go to Eon Cafe or Snappys. read more

This review is for coffee only! We love this place! In fact my best friend lives a few blocks away and anytime we visit we stop here. My husband loves the Horchata latte and I love their iced Coquito. Their coffee is not overly sweet and the seasonal drinks are always a fun excuse to try something new! I came here looking for a coffee spot nearby while I was in the San Lorenzo area. It's in the middle of a plaza with limited parking spots but there was also street parking too. I got a 16 ounce cardamom honey latte with oat milk and it was one of the most flavorful lattes I've had in a long time. If you're a fan of Indian chai or cardamom in general, this is the latte for you. It was on the pricey side (around $8 with tip) but even a flavored latte at Starbucks is almost that price now so can't really compare when this place is a small business and substantially better. Usually I don't write bad reviews but this particular experience made me unhappy. When my cousin and I entered the cafe, the cashier gave us a dirty look and didn't greet either of us. When I ordered, she just kept staring at me and was very quiet when she would speak to me. Not only that, but she got my order wrong (I ordered a 16oz horchata coffee and a 16oz mocha with milk but on the receipt it said 12 oz, no sugar, no milk). And when I was done ordering, I just STOOD there and she kept STARING at me. I didn't know when to leave the register because she looked very apathetic and annoyed. I want to take the time to acknowledge the other barista that helped me. She knew that my order was wrong and proceeded to correct the order and remake my drinks. I absolutely applaud her for taking the time to help me. The drinks at the end were good, but the service really put my mood down. And it was only 9am. Finally another coffee shop in San Lorenzo (besides Frodo Joe's)! This is such a gem to me because living so close to it, makes me so happy! Since it opened last summer-fall I can only say I've been here more than 5 times and will continue to. It's such a cute shop (when you can find parking in the plaza it's located at) & you really feel like you're welcomed. I've only tried a few things on their menu (my favorites are the Mexican mocha and their horchata latte) but I think they have a unique taste in the coffee. Some might think it's strong, but it's still delicious. I think the best part of Brewja is that it's also Gala Bakery. Gala Bakery is underrated and I think everyone needs to try one of their pastries while you're there. They have great cupcakes and cinnamon rolls! The only thing that needs improvement (& I know they're working on it) is the pace. It has improved since they first opened and I know they're still training more staff so props to them! read more

To make things simple this is one of my favorite coffee shops, for a good reason. The dim lighting is warm and welcoming, the coffee is great and the food is simple yet bursting with sazón. Such a cute little coffee shop!!! It is tucked away at the end of the plaza so I almost missed it, but I'm so glad I found it. The shop is adorable inside and has that cozy, comfy vibe that makes you feel at home. They have a great selection of coffee, including the classics as well as some Mexican inspired flavors. I wanted something a little bit sweet so I opted to get the crème brûlée latte. I love the layer of torches, caramelized sugar on top. If I was judging just based off their coffee they would be a 5/5. However, my complaint comes from poor service, which may have been my bad for going in on a Saturday morning. I had ordered my drink plus 3 empanadas. My drink came out promptly. At about 10 mins into waiting for the empanadas I asked the girl working in the front to check on my order, she went in the back for a few came back out and didn't communicate with me at all and proceeded to come around the counter to greet either friends or more regular customer. At the 20 mins into waiting mark I went to the front to ask for the money back, the guy that gave me the refund confirmed that he did show from my receipt time that I did indeed wait over 22 minutes. Once the refund was completed a lady came from the back with my items and I told her I was already refunded. There was no apology for the lack of service, which I get if you don't need the business you can feel entitled to not give basic customer service skills. read more

Was in San Lorenzo for a bit so decided to try Brewja coffee since I am a bit of a bruja myself ! Located in a small little shopping complex with gala bakeries. Cute little corner shop, Only available for prepaid online orders via their website. Covid 19 set up: An employee at first door will check for your name & prepaid order then send you to second door to pick up your order. Social distancing outside with marked areas to stand when checking in. It's a quick pick up if you prepaid. Very nice and helpful female employee directed me to website and said it will show what's available for the day. So got online & ordered the $25 half gallon or horchata coffee since it was only one available for that day but it was home delivery only. Was going back and forth with website & employee to order as a pick up. Another employee was checking the website online, eventually fixed it for same day pick up. After 15 or so minutes finally got my 1/2 gallon to go! Almost left frustrated but employee was very kind and said thank you for being so patient! Would of liked to try the matcha latte or lavender latte instead but was only 1 flavor available by the time I got there, about 2pm Saturday. All cupcakes or pastries were sold out by then too. If I'm around San Lorenzo will try again, now that I know the online process. read more

On Saturday I ordered a Mexican Mocha and it was delicious. Didn't finish it bc I don't usually order espresso so I had enough caffeine before I could. Gave the rest to my brother and he loved it too. But today I ordered a Coquito Iced Coffee and it was sooooooo good! Omg I couldn't believe it. That coconut whip was so rich and refreshing yet the coconut flavor was not too strong. And both drinks had really nice spice flavors. But you definitely don't want to pass on this place for their many unique Mexican flavor infused coffee that you won't regularly find in other coffee shops!! Although I still enjoyed it, so maybe I'll recommend trying it at regular sweetness instead! * Fresh Mint Cold Brew - 4/5 this was really refreshing! recommended if you want something not too strong with a fresh hint of mint! Their prices, however, are on the higher end ($6 for med, $7 for large), which is the only reason for 4 stars. It can be a bit pricey to visit on a regular basis. Beyond the creative name, Brewja Coffee has such a wonderful selection of drinks and WOW the pastries and desserts are literally to die for! Everything looks so yummy and delicious. I came on a Saturday morning and it was packed! There was a line out the door. As I browsed through their menu, everything sounded delicious so I asked the cashier what her favorite drink is. She recommended the Coquito Iced Coffee so I went with that. I can attest that this is a hit! It is on the sweeter side, so if you don't like sweetness in your coffee, this is not the drink for you. I loved the coconut whip cream and shavings to add some texture. The coffee tasted great as well so overall, the drink was balanced well. If I order it again, I would ask if it's possible to adjust the sweetness level for me because it was too sweet for my liking. I also ordered their Caprese Avocado Toast ($12) and it was delicious. They make their own sourdough bread, so it was a nice thick slice of sourdough bread with avocado, mozzarella balls, cherry tomatoes and balsamic glaze. Very light and refreshing for breakfast! Total cost for drink and toast was $20. Definitely on the pricier side so would come here when I want a treat! read more

This place is really cute, I love that something like this exists in San Lorenzo. It's one of a kind. Food and coffee here is pretty good and they have a lot to choose from. So if we're talking about ambience, location, friendliness of staff, coffee + treats, it's a 4/5. Now, I do think it's on the expensive side. Understandable in this economy, though. My main issue is that I used to order here at least 3x a week through their online portal. Sometimes, my coffee order was great and other times I'd be missing ingredients I paid extra for. It happened for months and I never had time to stop and come back in to notify anyone because I was ordering before work. I tried finding a store number or contact info, but the phone number listed didn't work. In frustration, I ended up just responding to the text message I got as confirmation of my order. Someone responded. Not exactly sure who it was I was communicating with, but the customer service was excellent. They assured me it wouldn't happen again. It didn't for two weeks. But then, it started happening again. I followed up and was assured they were paying attention to detail. I loved it when my order was right, but the inconsistency was not it for me. Their drinks are pretty good. They have several unique options such as a Horchata Coffee, which is a mixture of a Mexican cinnamon and almond drink with coffee. The Horchata flavor is pretty strong. Found this little gem of a coffee shop and I have to say, I need to go out and explore more places like this. The cafe has lots of drink choices that I had a hard time choosing, because I wanted to try them all. I chose the Hazelnut latte with whole milk, they don't have Soy milk here. My hubs ordered the Dulce de Leche Latte. We waited about 5ish minutes as there were a few people ahead of us. The Hazelnut latte was good, but I would prefer it to be a bit stronger. The Dulce de Leche was delish, but a bit too sweet for me. I didn't get to try the savory pastries or the other sweet treats, but they looked delectable. They also serve Toasts as well. I would definitely come back when I have more time to try the pastries, Toasts and other flavored coffees. Last Saturday I was searching for a local coffee shop to visit and support and I found this gem! I had the elote toast and coquito coffee and both were amazing! The toast was thick and fresh which I loved so my toast wouldn't colapse with the toppings. The coffee was a treat but still had a bold coffee taste which I appreciated. I hate when coffee is weak! The business was super busy which was nice to see, yet they were also quick. It was so great to see women running the business and making it thrive! I will toastally (haha) be back!!! read more

I'm so sad to write this review. This place is just getting worse. I tried this place once before and coffee was yummy and empanadas were the selling point. Took awhile for our food but we made do. This time (2/24/24) I ordered ahead and it took incredibly long! My coffees were ready upon my arrival (15 minutes) but my food wasn't made. Another 15 min for the brewja toast and 30 for the churro toast! I kept checking in with them and they said it was "coming" but why did it take 45 minutes to put sugar and cinnamon on a slice of bread? Ridiculous. Also super pricey for the quality. Almost $60 for two toasts and three coffees. They also got one of our drinks wrong. If they would have had the empanadas (which they're known for) it would have at least made the trip worth it but I was told they were temporarily not making them. Look it's a cute trendy place but the trendiness does not make up for long wait times and sub par food. Will no longer be coming back. read more

I kept hearing the rave about a local coffee shop called Brewja! First of all I fell in love with the name it's super clever. Out of curiosity I went with the lavender iced latte. Now let me tell y'all it was bomb. I should have gotten a larger size. It has such a subtle amount of lavender that makes you want to take another sip. Then you'll realize that you want more and it's already gone. It's the perfect drink to relax with. I'm loving the latin vibes from this shop.
