Went to school in the Bridgeport area and still come to Brewport often, never had a bad experience and never heard of anyone else having a bad experience. Staff is always friendly, great atmosphere, and great beer. The style of pizza naturally comes with some char so I opt to ask for them to make it "not too well done" and it's always to my liking. Brewport clearly feels the Bar-like atmosphere of New Haven can work in Bridgeport, and they went and got themselves the Brewmaster and everything. I don't know if they grabbed any chefs or what, but... the large, warehouse-like atmosphere, the oblong pizzas. The inspiration is there. Well... not quite there, everybody. The location is somehow surrounded on all sides by highways, which is the most Bridgeport thing that's ever happened. The space itself is gorgeous. It's huge and expansive, with massive ceilings, and the aesthetics are great. Dark but not too dark. Despite there being hundreds of people there, it didn't feel terribly noisy in the dining area. The beer itself is solid, but nothing spectacular. I had the stout, the pale ale, and the single IPA. They were all good, not great. But that's alright -- Bar's beers aren't that good, either. It's all about the pizza, right? Listen, Brewport. We need to talk. Your pizza... is not very good. I am not sure what you're missing. It's definitely super thin crust. It comes out in around the same sizes. But the bottom of our pie was definitely a bit on the raw side compared to Bar, and it was just... I don't know. It wasn't quite there. It was okay. I ate it. I'll eat almost anything that resembles pizza, though. I wanted to love it, because it's such a cool idea, and it's doing great, and I want Bridgeport to succeed, and I'm really happy with the resurgence of restaurants and nightlife. But your pizza. Came to brewport last night normally we always have a good time but last night we had a clam pie, it came out super fast and the clams semmed a little underdone but we ate it anyway everything seemed fine. when we got home my husband start vomiting violently from the clams. This place shows promise, but they HAVE to get better service. It's slow and inattentive. I've been in large groups and will not see waitstaff for long, extended periods of time. It's like, hey, take my money! Please! I thought about giving Brewport 3 stars, but we really do need as many places like this as possible in the area. Especially Bridgeport which feels like a city on life support for the last few decades (Black Rock excluded). Pizza is very good. Among the best in the area. Very similar to BAR. Only downside is the sauce, which is a bit too sweet/Ragu for me. Beer selection is ok. Wish they'd get more New England-based offerings. Their own beer is solid. I dig their 7th Inning IPA. While not the best brewery around, they have a very good offering. Lastly, it's a cool (and huge) space to hang out. Let's hope more places like this continue to open and thrive around here. Great local brewery! Our server was SO pleasant and helpful. Everyone was socially distant, wearing masks, and the menus are easily accessed using QR codes on your phone. Decent beer. Though the table service was great, I'll give them that - very nice waitress. At the end, went to go look at the t shirts (always grab t shirts from breweries). My girlfriend politely asked if we were allowed behind the counter to check them out (I was already back there looking). The gentleman rudely looked at her and said "no". Very blunt, with a snarky look on his face. I calmly walked back on the other side of the counter, said "ok then, no shirt then." He gave a sarcastic shoulder shrug, and on we went. Peppes look out you have serious competition! Brick oven pizza thin crust done right, great tasting with as many combinations of toppings you can think of. Don't go looking for burgers, wings or anything else they serve pizza and salad and that's it, but they do it right. The large is huge, the small is a good size also. We had the bacon mashed potato and also a cheese - both were equally delicious and cooked consistent! The only thing I'd say they can improve on is the time it took to get our pizza. It took a little longer than I'd expect for brick oven BUT not too long that we got hangry. Although I'm not a beer drinker I am a coffee snob and I love the fact that they use French Press to brew the coffee! Atmosphere is fun and the service was excellent. Lauren our server was polite enough to suffer my corny jokes and was very attentive. Put this one on you bookmarks it's worth the trip. We'll be back to visit again soon! read more

The place has a great vibe and is very spacious. Good selection of craft beer and the pizza was quite good, but sadly I will never go back here again. We had a group of about 12 people (the tables are huge there, which was great to fit everyone) and we were celebrating two birthdays. The first people arrived at 4pm and we ordered a total of 5 pizzas throughout the night. We're all in our mid-thirties so it wasn't a "body shots and shot gunning beers" kind of birthday celebration. (Too old for that stuff!) Instead, we were drinking at a moderate rate and sitting around the table talking. At 9pm the server came over and said she had to cut off the whole table. I asked her why and she said because someone at our table looked glossed over so the manager cut off our whole table. Now, sadly enough we were getting ready to leave anyway, but I wanted to speak to the manager to ask what happened. After avoiding us for about 5 minutes, he finally came over and said we had been there long enough and that "this is not that kind of place. We want people to drink an appropriate amount and we're just looking out for our liability." Then he asked how many beers I had that night. I responded, "I've had 5 beers over the course of 5 hours." And his reply was, "Isn't that enough?" I responded with, "And it makes no difference to your liability that we arranged to have a designated driver here with us (my wife) who has drank 2 diet cokes and water all night?" He said no. "So you're telling me that you have a group of 12 people that stay for 5 hours, order 5 pizzas, drink at the rate of 1 beer per hour with water in between beers, arrange for a designated driver that hasn't had a drop of alcohol all night and we're the ones that your establishment feels should be cut off?" He said, "My decision is final. You can stay if you want but we will not serve you anymore." I let him know that we would not patronize his establishment anymore after this experience and that we would be leaving. He seemed pretty apathetic to our complaints. I honestly have no clue how the night ended that way, especially when I really wanted to like the place. Came here for a post-interview dinner on a weekday night with a large group and couldn't have been more pleased! Sampled many of their pizzas and all were AMAZING options. Really can't go wrong with any of them. Didn't try any beers but peers had nothing but good things to say about their options. This place gets 4 stars simply for the building. Maybe Bridgeport will be the next Brooklyn: awful neighborhood turned trendy. Put a few more coffee shops and breweries and a few loft and young professionals...voila! This is an old warehouse that was remade into a brewery. As far as beer goes: it is not the best. I wish it was and I would love to lie and say it was great beer but it was average. And judging by the 3.5 stars...others agree. The only offerings are beer and pizza. I finally made it to Brewport since it's opening this summer. Being a pizza lover, and, have tried all the major pizzerias in the New Haven area, I was excited to try this local establishment since it received many great reviews for their beer selection and pizza. When I arrived, the manager came to our table and welcomed us to Brewport, nice added touch. The service was very good, and the beer selection lived up to the many positive reviews posted here. Now time for the pizza, we ordered a large pizza with garlic, pretty stand pizza. When it came out, it looked good. That's where it ended. The pizza was extremely dry, thinner than the NH style pizza, more of a flat bread pizza, and has the structure of cardboard. I can't tell you how I wanted this place to be my new local pizza restaurant. I don't like writing negative reviews like this, and, I probably could have purchased a better frozen pizza from the local supermarket, it was that bad. I wish Brewport well, and, maybe I just was given a bad pizza. For me, I probably won't be going back soon the food quality was well below any standard. read more

Ok, have finally been able to make the trip to Brewport. Have to say, have been fascinated by it. Looks like a unique location, liked the branding, and was rooting for it to win despite some tepid reviews it received from friends. Let's break it down: As always we start w/ the drinks: Beer Menu (theirs): Ok, was looking forward to trying what they had and boy was it disappointing. 3 of the 4 beers i originally tried (Stalwart IPA, Blood Orange Blonde, and Golden Ale) were virtually undrinkable. The only savior was their Session IPA which was decent enough to finish. I then tried their Stout and despite the flavor profile being good, i was disappointed to see it being poured with CO2 vs. a Nitro mix so it was missing that smooth creamy body to balance the bitter flavors. Especially disappointing when you see them pouring their guest stout with a nitro mix. Beer Menu (guest list): Never love a quality brewery/brew pub that feels the need to serve other beers due to lack of belief in their own, but in this case it may be a good thing until they can figure things out. Just wish the beer list was better curated, a mix of local beers available in many places (Two Roads, Stony Creek, etc) and some ABI Craft beers (Goose Island, Elysian, Golden Road) was not very creative or interesting. Clearly if they wanted to appeal to craft beer enthusiasts they could go after some more sought after brands and styles that they don't currently produce. Other: They carry wine and spirits too, which is smart, especially for large parties. Food: Tried 3 different pizzas, all ok, nothing to rave about and tough to stand out when you have places like Colony and Pepe's close by. Average, not bad, not great. Could use a little more creativity in their pizza menu as well, not a lot of options other than you can always make your own (which we did), but it would nice to be inspired, right? Service: Good, no issues, never got a sense of passion or interest on the beer front that you get with many breweries/brew pubs, just people serving you like the would in any restaurant. Venue: The environment decor is awesome! The place is big, well designed, open and interesting. Definitely the best part about it right now Ok, the venue is exceptional, the food is competitive, but its the beer that will make the difference in the long run. Saw so many brewpubs go down hard in the first craft beer wave during the 90's because the beer was not as good as industry standard. The industry standard is much better now than in the first craft beer wave, the bar is higher, Brewport lets fix the beer and have a place that everyone will proudly support and enjoy! read more

This is an old warehouse that was remade into a brewery and it's totally awesome! It has a very hip vibe and it's always packed. In the warmer months they open up the back end (or front rather) of the restaurant (which is a like a huge garage door) and it gives such a nice ambiance. The pepperoni and sausage pizza is DELICIOUS, so savory and juicy and the garden salad was amazing as well. I've been here quite a few times and the service is different each time as well as the food- it's not always consistent which is a bummer. When it's good, it's GREAT but you can't always count on it being great. I don't drink beer, so I can't comment on that. The bartenders are very, very slow. The hostess, waiters and bartenders- all around the service needs serious work. Overall, it's a super cool spot that's always buzzing. A really great casual dining option that Bridgeport desperately needed and desperately needs to support. The lone negative is that the bar staff is still getting their feet under them as a team, which results in sometimes slow, disorganized service. I really enjoyed the atmosphere at Brewport and the Pizza and my root beer float were delicious. I like how the Pizza was thin crust and brick oven and the restaurant had a cozy modern feel. A few things that did disappoint me were that I saw a Mouse run across the wood floor underneath a table. I know it was cold and the restaurant is in a vacant old industrial area so I tried to brush it off but as someone with a phobia of mice I probably won't be returning for that reason. Another downside was that I bought a T shirt from their gift shop which was pretty expensive yet it ripped right down the seem the next day I wore it and im small and it wasnt too small, just poorly made.
