Black & White Waffle

Food was stellar! First time ever trying this brunch spot and I left extremely satisfied. Taking my parents next weekend and treating them. Waitress was quick with refills and the food service was out in less than 10 minutes. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Berry French toast

I'll first start off by saying Briana's has a large seating area so we were seated promptly. The service was quick and attentive to our needs. We ordered berry French toast with a side of bacon and a kids French toast with a side of fruit. The French toast was tasty and bacon cooked really well. Also ordered coffee and hot chocolate. The order total was $42. Rating 4 stars because the price of the breakfast is a little pricey versus some competition in the area.

Turkey Club with Hash Browns and coffee

Hadn't been to a good diner in a while and was really in the mood for some griddle hash browns and Briana's came through great. Stopped in by myself around noon on a Wednesday and the restaurant wasn't empty but had a fair amount of empty tables so they seated me at a booth. It's not a gigantic restaurant but there is a good amount of seating. Started with a cup of good coffee and decided it was a little late for eggs so I ended up going with the Turkey Club. I went for the deluxe option so it came with an option of soup or salad and choice of a side. The salad was full of fresh, crunchy vegetables and greens and the Italian dressing was decent too. The sandwich was big and tasty with thick slices of Turkey and fresh tasting lettuce and tomatoes and also came with a little cup of slaw and a pickle spear. The hash browns were the exact style I was in the mood for--thicker shreds of potato that are crunchy on top and fluffy underneath. Generous portions meant I ended up only finishing half of my plates. Server was nice and checked in without being overbearing. Brianna's is a great traditional diner that I feel could be one of the more reasonably priced breakfast and lunch spots in Batavia's Main Street corridor.

Berry Crepes

My co-workers and I ordered food to go. It was good and properly prepared. I ordered the Berry Crepes and very filling since 3 come in an order. They were good but disappointed that they didn't put pecans which we paid for! This is the 2nd breakfast place in the last 2 weeks that I've experienced this. Customers pay for extra toppings/sides and the cooks don't add them. How frustrating!!!! My co-workers got Strawberry Crepes with side of extra crispy bacon, orange juice, Philly skirt steak sandwich with fries and side of soup of the day. Their food was good and prepared as per order. Hope the cooks do a better job of properly fulfilling customers orders in the future. Nothing is more disappointing than when you don't get what you pay for!!! It's such a big inconvenience calling to ask for a refund or having to go back to get items that were left off on the order.

We loved everything about The Graceful Ordinary from the ambience to the amazing service (thanks Karen!) to the creative cocktails to the delicious food. When we arrived at the table, there was an anniversary card from the staff. Nice touch! We were brought a loaf of the warm housemade bread with whipped butter to begin. Hubby ordered the Having a Moment bourbon cocktail, and I had the Honey Kiss vodka and elderflower cocktail. Love their creative cocktail list. Karen was a fabulous server, so attentive and friendly. The other staff was on top of everything from water being refilled to clearing dirty dishes and even fresh butter brought to the table when it was low. Our needs were met before we even needed to ask. Also, since Karen knew that we were splitting all the courses, she automatically had the food split between two plates. I liked that. We decided to split everything we ordered. We started with the smoked salmon deviled eggs which were creamy delicious, not to mention beautifully presented. Our second starter was the bone marrow with caramelized shallots. This dish was absolutely amazing. My only critique would be to put four pieces of bread on the plate went two people are sharing. Our next course was a salad and we went with the roasted beet salad with blue cheese and sunflower shoots dressed in a warm bacon vinaigrette. Bacon - need I say more? Our main course was the walleye with ricotta gnudi, fava beans, peas and wild mushrooms. So many flavors and textures going on. The fish was perfectly seared and moist. Delectable. We thought about dessert but we were so full from dinner that we passed. Karen wouldn't let us go without a complimentary dessert in honor of our anniversary to enjoy at home, their signature butterscotch pot de crème with sea salt caramel. The Graceful Ordinary certainly made our anniversary special with the anniversary card at the table, and the complementary dessert. If you're in the western Chicago burbs, I highly recommend checking this restaurant out.

Their preorder system is incredibly smooth, though it does require a bit of planning since you need to order at least a day in advance, and they are closed on Mondays. I scheduled an order on a Friday for a Tuesday morning pickup. I picked up a dozen GF donuts and a half-dozen chocolate chip cookies, and both were fantastic. They offer a ton of different donut flavors, though the ordering system limits you to choosing three varieties per dozen. I went with the banana bread, chocolate with chocolate icing and the brown sugar with chocolate icing, and they did not disappoint. The cookies were just as impressive, hitting that perfect texture without any of the dryness you sometimes find in gluten-free baking. The shop itself is super cute and perfectly set up for a quick visit. All the preordered to-go items are neatly laid out on a cabinet for a seamless pickup. If you have some extra time, they also have drinks and food you can order at the counter, a shared parking lot that makes stopping by a breeze, and a nice outdoor seating area. I will definitely be back to mix and match some new flavors next time.

I informed our server that I have celiac disease, and she was helpful in confirming that the cocktails were gluten-free. I ordered the Pineapple Express sangria, and it was absolutely delicious. When it comes to the food, most items on the menu can actually be made gluten-free, but they aren't marked on the menu and they do not offer a separate gluten-free menu. Our server did let us know right away that they were out of three of their entree items. For my meal, I started with the gluten-free soup which comes with gluten-free noodles, and it was really good. However, I didn't really like any of the remaining entrees they had left available, so I decided to order sides instead. The server mentioned that most of the sides are or can be made gluten-free. I chose the creamy mashed potatoes and the brussel sprouts, specifically requesting the sprouts without croutons. When the food arrived, the brussel sprouts unfortunately had croutons on them. I pointed it out to the server, and she immediately said she would have them remade for me. While I am very glad I caught the mistake before eating them, it is something to watch out for. Overall, the experience was mediocre.

It's an upscale establishment with absolutely wonderful decor: an old house that harkens back to times of yesteryear. The ambiance is lively but not loud and it seems to host a slightly older (and more sophisticated?) demographic. We just had beers but did peruse the menu for fun and things looked very tempting. Although this visit was quick it left me wanting more on a return visit, of which there will be!
