I used to like this restaurant. I used to meet my mom here every other week for lunch. That ended today. Today I ordered the house salad with mojo chicken. It was supposed to have mojo chicken breast on it. It came out with a blob of meat that looked remarkably similar to deli chicken. The chicken had no flavor and was sitting on a bed of slightly brown romaine. The waitress told us that they marinate the chicken and slice on site. If that's true they need to change their recipe. There was no indication that the meat had been marinated, unless the marinade was completely clear, the edges of the meat were the same color as the interior. If you arrive at lunch time expect to wait a while for your food. Today we waited over 45 minutes for our lunch. The waitress told us that we had arrived just after a big party, this is not the first time we have heard this excuse. Typically if you have to wait forever for sandwiches, the restaurant will give you chips or something to hold you over, don't expect that at Brian's. And if you have waited 45 minutes for food and the food is awful, you would expect a discount or comped food, don't expect that at Brian's. read more

Brian's Place is one of my favorite restaurants in Hernando County. This was the first time that I had been there for lunch though, and upon a recommendation I went for something that I would not normally order in the "Fusion Burger". This burger is one of the more artistic creations that you will find and features gorgonzola cheese, caramelized plantains, tomatoes and a habanero mayonnaise. The first thing to note about this burger is that the patty is absolutely delicious. It is clearly fresh made and was cooked to perfection with a perfect sear, giving it a little crunch. It was certainly in the top 3 of all the patties that I tried in the competition. The bun was a baguette or Cuban bread style of bun and was very good. Unfortunately it was a little smaller than the burger. This caused the burger to hang out of the bun slightly, which as I mentioned before is a small deduction for me. The bun itself is very tasty though. Extras? Did you not read the description? Gorgonzola, plantains, habanero mayo. This burger is one that I could never dream up but it just works. The sweetness of the plantains cut through the richness of the cheese, creating a perfect balance of flavors. The burger was $7.99 and came with seasoned fries, which were also great. It was one of the more expensive burgers but when you consider the work that goes into it and the quality of the ingredients, it was worth every penny. This is a delicious burger and I will be going back again just to have this. And I live 30 minutes away. It's that good. read more

We ate here because of the outdoor seating.. beautiful atmosphere and loved feeding the turtles.. our waitresses didn't wear a mask and we asked if the cooks wore masks and she said no it's too hot in the kitchen. Later that evening the waitress put on a mask .. I was there to treat my best friend for her birthday and she wouldn't order any food that wasn't hot because of the no mask policing the kitchen. The menus weren't throwaway so I had to hand sanitizer after reading.. smoking was permitted were we were seated and it was an unpleasant experience with the smell. The food was quite good read more

7 of us went to celebrate a birthday. Our server tried his best but the kitchen and bar made his job near impossible. The special steak (recommended by Gordon Ramsay?) was so tough it could not be chewed. The chicken was tough and inedible. They were out of the red snapper special. We were served appetizers without plates or silverware. Three of us didn't get salads until asked again. The stuffed pork chop was actually raw - PORK RAW. The salmon came after the rest of us were half finished eating. There was a fan blowing on us during dinner on a breezy evening on the patio and not one of the three employees who tried could shut the fan off. Tuesday Thur Sunday) Ordered the Grilled Steak Cilantro Sandwich- Very good. Kinda like a Bistec sandwich. Wife and Cuz had the Cuban Sandwich, I had half- Very good, Cuz two had the Crab cake Burger- Reports that it was excellent. Fries were great, and everything was seasoned very well. Service was excellent and food came fast. The Prices are great!! 4 people with soda's under 35 bucks. I will update when i go for dinner which my cousins had here a few times during their visit and report it was excellent. For lunch it's a great little family owned place that serves great sandwiches and salads and a very good price. About 4 miles from U.S.19 and Spring hill drive, it's worth the few extra minutes. Love, love, love this restaurant! The Hernando Beach area has, for decades, been in desperate need of quality restaurants that appeal to people of all ages. This restaurant surely fits the bill. The menu is exciting and vibrant, and the quality of the food is excellent. I went there for brunch one weekend, and ordered the special: avocado and chorizo eggs benedict with a citrus hollandaise sauce. Absolutely fantastic. We will be back. read more

AMAZING food and service! Wish I could rate them a 10! Very different style from any of the other restaurants in the county!

Let's start with the positives. Food was good for most of us! We had confusion with our party of 20 which was seated out front. We were told we could have out back or upper room (for a nominal charge) as it would probably be slow on a Wednesday (which it was). No one seemed to understand the prior conversations and we were placed out front in bright sunshine. Waitress seemed put out and even rolled her eyes. We did not receive bread like other tables did and practically had to beg to get dessert. (And we ordered one of each). Bill was over $600 and we still tipped 20% but we wish the atmosphere was more accommodating and won't bring our large group back as they don't seem to want that type of business. read more

I had heard good things about this place from locals. I made a special trip there to make a reservation for my Birthday - and inquire about vegan options. When we arrived at the appointed time the place was packed and they escorted us upstairs, and sat us in a dark corner facing the wall and a nearby dirty window. The table was right up against the corner so my daughter and I had to sit side by side. In hind site - we should have made our Exit then, as it only got worse. The waitress had to struggle to weave around packed furniture to get to our table. We ordered wine and dinner. Within the next half hour this upstairs room became filled with a large boisterous crowd. The waitresses really had to struggle to reach our table. It was a miserable experience. We could not converse as it was far too noisy. I think the chef must have been aware of our predicament as he sent us a free plantain dessert, which was a nice gesture, but did not make up for the overall experience. The meal was fair, not great. Such a relief to finally depart from this place, but a struggle to get out of the corner we had been jammed into. The waitresses did work hard to serve us in this over crowded setting. Someone recommended this place to me two years ago and tonight I finally gave it a shot. Our usual restaurant in the area was packed and we were turned away so we made the best of the situation. Brian's Place was quite full and we didn't have a reservation but the hostess offered to get us a table outside. Immediately we were impressed with the live music, full liquor bar and by the friendly hostess Devin. The weather was beautiful and cool and it was actually delightful sitting outside. Our server was Andi and she was incredible. She was full of energy and excitement over the menu. She explained the available specials, including liquor specials. Being our first time, we wanted to try a little bit of everything so we ordered the appetizer special spare ribs. They were outrageously good. The liquor lemonade was refreshing and delicious. The salad that came with our meals was fresh and surprisingly tasty. Next we ordered filet mignon and pork chops. Every bite was perfection. Absolute perfection. The dessert menu was extensive and it was too hard to pick the one I wanted most so I ordered the cannolis and triple chocolate cake. Dessert did not disappoint. We left throughly satisfied with our choices and every intention of making the 45 minute drive to eat here again. We will definitely be asking for Andi to be our server in the future and look forward to trying everything offered on the menu. read more

Mixed review after dining here for my mom's birthday. Very poor planning for seating, but the food and service from our waiter was good. We came on a Friday night so I understand why it would be busy, but despite making a reservation they sat us at a table in the corner of their small, overflow room upstairs. Our table was pushed against the wall, and was still so close to the other tables around us it felt invasive - we could barely hear each other talk. We had to sit kitty corner to each other at the table because it was the only way we could fit (picture for reference). Overall, it wasn't what we wanted for a birthday dinner, and would have gone elsewhere if we knew how we'd be seated. We had called ahead because of my mom's dietary restrictions, and Brian was very kind and accommodating. He went the extra mile and brought us a delicious dessert for my mom's birthday which we really appreciated. I certainly recommend the food and supporting this business, but bottom line - if you plan on coming here, I recommend coming on a weeknight or ensuring they seat you downstairs. read more

From a casual girlfriend's lunch to an awesome date night, or a lovely Sunday brunch, Brian's Place always comes through with amazing food artfully plated, and cheerfully served! I love that there is live music several nights a week and on Sundays during good weather. You can choose to dine inside, out on the front patio, or on the rear deck. We went for an early dinner last Friday night, and got there just in time to enjoy the soulful blues/jazz stylings of Wendy Rich and the Poor Boys. We enjoyed a couple of adult beverages to start (Brian has a full bar and several top notch beer and wine selections) and just kind of turned the busy work week off. The special that night was snapper, beautifully prepared, cooked perfectly, served over Spanish yellow rice, with asparagus spears. I'm going to let my picture speak for itself! Wow!!! This was my favorite dinner while on vacation. So happy we went. The service was excellent. We had Tamara and she was amazing. She answered our questions and pointed us into perfect choices for our dinners. The salad with the house Balsamic dressing was outstanding. I had the Seared Tuna with sesame crust and it was delicious. My husband had a hard time choosing but decided on the Snapper. He thought it was good but next time he would try the stuffed pork chop. The Plantains were out of this world!! We ended with Key lime pie with Caramel and it was the best Key Lime pie my husband has ever had!!! I highly recommend this gem!!! If you go ask for Tamara.
