This was our 5th time at Brian's over the years. We always loved it, but tonight was a bit of disappointment. We sat inside, it was so loud you couldn't hear the person sitting next to you, let alone hear the server. I got the Sangria, which had no fruit and was quite boring. One of us got the Sherry Salad, which didn't have the walnuts as listed. We asked about it, but the answer was "we are out, sorry". When we finally got our food, it was good, but it took forever. We waited an hour for our food. The server apologized, said they got a new computer system and were having trouble. Good food, creative menu, but not a fun night. This was all after there was no parking, so we had to park illegally and walk. If I spend this much on dinner, I want a good experience as well as good food. read more

Loved it! Was surprised to find this gem in such a hidden spot but the food was incredible! I am not easy to convince to go somewhere like Hernando for dinner but I'm really glad I did! The service was really friendly and they did everything right. Patty was our server she was on top of everything and was very pleasant. I suggest the duck wings...they were incredible! We had been waiting almost a year to go to Brians Place we were so excited. The menu sounded wonderful. The dining area was very nicely done, although small. First off I have to say that the karaoke guy in the corner was way to loud and not right for this restaurant. Besides being loud he took up valuable dining space. Now for the food, my husband had the special which was a rib steak. It was very good and the presentation was nice. Mine however, I had the grouper special which was suppose to have Red chile corn sauce. The fish itself was good although not much flavor and the sauce had even less flavor. Best dining experience in Spring Hill - hands down! Actually was inspired by the reviews on Yelp! to visit this restaurant last night. I would never have expected the quality of food that's inside this very nondescript house along side local dive bars. We had the pork chops and the pan seared grouper gag fish - both were excellent. The service was not pretentious - in fact we enjoyed our server very much, the prices are very reasonable and the presentation of the food rivals any restaurant in Vegas. The only negative was the shelves were a bit dusty. But if that's because they are so focused on the food - then I can't ding them for that! Thrilled we found this place! read more

My starter was lovely, the staff were pleasant and friendly. I ordered the steak special medium well, when it came out it was rare. I sent it back, not 5mins later I was presented with another steak, the same again, it was medium at best but the kicker was when I lifted the steak up off its potato foundation I found a nice short hair poking back at me. The restaurant was empty for breakfast at 10:30 am except for 2 large parties out front. A young man finally realized we still hadn't been taken care of and said he would get someone to help us but Stilton one came over. We finally gave up and left. My husband and I travel extensively for business. We always try to find the best Restaurant in the area.....Brian's Place did not disappoint!! As a matter of fact we ate there 3 nights in a row, and would have eaten there 4 nights except they were closed on Monday. I had the Shrimp Pasta and was extremely pleased with the dish.... It actually was a large enough portion that I had enough leftover for lunch the next day!! Two thumbs up for that!! My husband had the Grouper Special and was so overwhelmed with the flavor, that he practically licked the plate!!! We asked to speak to the owner/ chef.... Brian came out and spent almost 10 mins chatting with us ( it was almost closing time so he was not busy cooking) ; ) What a great guy!! This restaurant would make it in any BIG CITY!! But what a DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH Hernando Beach has...I hope the REGULARS realize this and take care of those bartenders and servers!! Patty was a sweetheart!! Chris the Bartender was a great guy!! Linda behind the bar made us Dirty Martinis to PERFECTION. Right down to the Hand Stuffed Blue Cheese Olives!! ( because we requested them and they went out of their way to do it). THANKS!!! Since it was a special occasion, we wanted to try something different for our 20 year wedding anniversary so we decided on Brian's Place. I really enjoyed the experience and definitely made the right choice. Patty, our hostess/server, was great and extremely attentive and had a great personality. We had the specialty appetizer (grouper cheeks with pork belly) and enjoyed it immensely. My wife had the mojo pork chop and I had the 20oz rib eye and both were cooked to perfection. Do I have any critiques? Perhaps the mashed potatoes were just a bit ordinary but that's about it. I'm looking forward to returning again in the future as I am definitely a fan. read more

We had a party of 10 for my wife's birthday and was extremely disappointed. I was born and raised here and have ate here many times in the past. We sat upstairs along with 20 other people. There was absolutely no social distancing and no restrictions inside. Upstairs looked filthy. It took us 15min to get our drinks and the waitress had no clue about their menu. My wife is gluten free and there were no options for an appetizer and hardly any options for an entre. We dealt with that but when we got our food it was cold. The pork chop tasted rotten and the service was extremely slow as mentioned before. For the price you expect decent food even if the service is bad. UPDATED: They have a new menu as of March 2011. It is pretty exciting actually. Tuna ceviche tacos were a novel take on both and tasted fantastic. Honey and Habanero duck wings were huge and good, although I mentioned to Brian that they could use a little more heat. Actually, there was enough wings to ruin dinner for a smaller person.... My wife had a filet with truffle mac and cheese, both of which were fantastic. My selection was the steak and red pepper risotto which, while very good, didn't come close to her filet. We went in early afternoon for lunch and the place was practically empty. Being adventurous, I got the special which was Mojo pork on yellow rice with black bean soup. There was no mojo. In fact it was rather bland and cold pulled pork. The yellow rice was warm and flavorful however it was the black bean soup (served piping hot) that was a real hit with me. My wife got the Grilled Brian Rueben which is advertised as lean corn beef with bacon sauerkraut. The corn beef was not lean as evidence by the pile of fat on her plate and the sauerkraut (which I sampled) had absolutely no hint of bacon. The seasoned fries though had an interesting taste and were very good. On the plus side, the service was outstanding. Our server could not have been more attentive or friendly. Brian's is cozy and intimate and also includes an outdoor dining area. Pricing is more than reasonable. Judging from the many 5 star reviews, I'm going to chalk this one up as just one of those days and will give them another shot. read more

Horrific service. Reservations don't seem to mean much - they were unprepared not just for our party but for many​ others, as well. Although the male servers seemed to be patient and easygoing, many of the female servers were rude and pretentious​. The food looked AMAZING, but we wouldn't know. After one hour, we only received a wine flight. Multiple requests for bread went ignored, and our appetizer was given to another table. It would be 20 minutes before we saw our server to tell her. We ended up closing out and leaving hungry. They did not take the appetizer off the bill and charged us full price. To add insult to injury, the neighboring table was​ well into its meals by the time we received​ our bill - a bill that included the appetizer we never received. Very disappointing for a place that really strives for an upscale feel. Maybe better servers will turn things around. read more

DISAPPOINTED. Used to love this place. The last couple times were not great. And by last couple, I mean over the past year. I'm super disappointed in many things that happened on our recent visit and unfortunately I will never go back and waste my money. we had 8 people in our party. We ordered their balsamic chicken (2 of them) and when it came out it look very dry and thick...person 1 took a bite and immediately spit it out and said it was terrible, person 2 took a couple bites and started complaining-my 14 year old daughter. She kept eating because we were starving. I asked to have a bite and immediately spit it out, no joke. It was not edible. At all. I felt sorry that she continued to eat it prior to this because she was scared to speak up and have it sent back and was so hungry. When our waitress came back we spoke up and told her the dishes were not edible. My daughter at this point didn't want anything else, the other person got a re cook. It came out within 10 min and was equally gross and RAW. The chicken was raw. At this point I was over the entire experience in full. Our waitress, instead of having a manager or the owner coming out, just asked us to be quiet when we were telling her how bad this chicken was and was trying to tell us we don't know the flavors of a "balsamic reduction sauce". Umm ok? I wasn't born yesterday and I happen to make an amazing balsamic reduction chicken. To top all of it off, both chicken meals were still on our bill when we went to pay. Most restaurants would have sent a manager, taken it off and sent a dessert or something. I used to spend a lot of time here when I worked right down the road but never again. Sooo disappointed. I guess they want to be like every other place in a small town-don't really care about their guests because sheeple will still eat there. I'm not the only one who feels this way too. Many many of my local friends feel the same way as I've lived in this county for 20 years. Prior to this the service always sucked anyways and the food is just mehhh. Every once in a while you get something good. But please don't waste your time. Plenty of better restaurants to eat at in the area. Y'all need to do way better at customer service. But I see that the owner never even replies to his customers on here like yelp doesn't exist. It especially does to out of towners. That is all. read more

Very classy place offering live music and outdoor seating out back next to the Reserve. Breakfast on the weekends is worth a visit. Didn't care for the potatoes being deep fried. Dinner didn't go too well, we'll just leave it at that. Had dessert one afternoon, the Cuban Bread Pudding was to die for. Warm sweet crisp on top. We ordered the burger with eggplant, chorizo chicken wrap and the crab cake burger. The burger itself was overcooked and had no flavor, the crab cake burger was below par there are at least 6 places i can think of with better, the chorizo chicken wrap was ok and the only thing I would even consider trying again and the fries were not good either and had i think cumin on them . All in all i would not try the place again even to give some different things a try. read more

I visit my parents in Spring Hill every so often and until Brian's Place it's one disappointment after the next. Very unique menu, fresh and some items are even organic (stuffed pork chop as an example) my wife and I had 3 cocktails, 2 app's, 2 entrees & 2 deserts, the total was $72 which I thought was a steal & worth every penny. Our server was very knowledgeable, very personable, friendly & helpful explaining and giving recommendations on the menu. Hmmmmmmmmm. I am confused by Brian's Place. We will start w atmosphere. Place looks unassuming and when we walked up there was a guy playing live music ad place had a beach bar feel then when you go in you feel out of place it's more high end. Place has branded rugs and Buisness cards on the server station, their name plastered on the glasses like a sports bar but serves you on higher end dishware. Tablecloths and such inside ad plastic tables outside It's a weird mix. Honestly the building and seating is nice but included it because it's a symptom of the whole evening. We got drinks at the bar and sat when our table was clean. Ordering we ordered salads. Duck wings for the table. There were three of us and our entrees were A grouper w/ plantain 3way. A pasta dish and a seveche taco. I have to say first our server was not at our table a lot and we were mostly served by another girl. That girl brought us another tables dessert even thou we obviously hadn't gotten our food yet. She seems confused and was see multiple times delivering food to other tables incorrectly and having to be corrected by the server. First the app. Our duck wings came out and were large and looked great. However there were only 5. That's ok and decent for the price but there were literally served on a platter. Like you would put a whole turkey on. Secondly we received no wings. They were 5 drumsticks. Looked odd but then we tried them. They seemed baked? They were gummy and had the consistency of a baked chicken drumstick. Now the quality of the duck itself and the sauce were out of this world but not at all what you want from a wing. The server returned and asked how it was and we asked about the lack of crispy and she offered to get us another order. We said it wasn't necessary but she insisted. We asked if they always come out like that if that's how they were supposed to be and she just shrugged her shoulders. We only sent back 2 wings cuz the 3 of all all took a bite of one each ad put it down because we weren't sure they were correct. In the mean time we ordered a second bottle of wine as the girls had emptied their glasses. Ok the wine comes out and they set it on the table and walk away. I'm no snob and can do my own wine but when you pay $25 for a $10 bottle of wine and our glasses are empty you think you would pour it. Part of what you pay for is the service. Then our apps come out. I should say back out. They simply recooked our 2 remaining "wings" and brought them out black and hard. Then they poured some sauce on top. Just silly. Don't offer me another app if you don't want to remake it. Don't offer if you don't know how they are cooked and if it's normal the way they come. Don't insult me by making the food Burt and recooking my dish. Then the salads came and they were good and the dressing was excellent. When ordering we asked what was on them. They came out different then described. One was missing cranberries, one missing pickled onions and one missing the crouton. Strange but whatever. Next the entrees. They came in the middle of the salads but that's a minor timing issue. I ordered the grouper three way. Omg this is the highlight. The sauce with the grouper was the best. The pile of plantain that was baked had everyone eating off my plate.:-) fish was perfect and the dish was presented perfectly. The pasta dish was gobbled up by my girl and she loved it. The tacos weren't so impressive. There was no seasoning or flavor to the tuna at all. Typically you get soaked in citrus ad seasoned. Made the whole dish Bland. Overall the whole place seems like it's not sure if it wants to be fine dining or the corner beach bar. From the atmosphere of a guy calling out the audience while playing rock tunes solo to the fine dishes the whole place is confusing. It hits and misses but when it hits it's excellent but it's misses are horrible. The manager did comp our tacos despite my instance on Payibg and she seemed genuinely annoyed that the staff made goofy mistakes. She offered to serve us herself if we return. Always looking for a good restaurant and found it here. Not the typical small town Florida dive bar and restaurant. Very clean and bright. Menu has a great selection of fresh prepared food. This was the first and only time I will be going to this place. I was down visiting family and we went here for dinner. I had ordered the grouper special. What a disappointment. The grouper was over cooked. When I got home and was checking my bank statement, I noticed that was charged a tip amount even though I left a cash tip and indicated that on my signed receipt. When I called to get this resolved, I spoke to Devon the manager, explained the issue and he assured me he would figure it out and call me back. He never did. I called back again to ask for him, left message and he still didn't call back. Unprofessional beyond belief and I disputed the charge with me bank.
