Crab cake appetizer, grilled veggies, roll

Started off with the cheese curds- average little nuggets of fried cheese, honestly nothing to write home about. The claim to fame here is the crab cakes and it is well earned. I ordered the crab cake appetizer (one crab cake, grilled veggies, and a roll), a perfect small plate entree with the most delicious crab cake I have ever had. Crispy exterior with a soft, delicate melt in your mouth crab. Seriously, get the crab cakes if you dine here. Chicken wings were average and the key lime pie was the same, definitely a gritty texture due to the sugar and the crust was thick and difficult to cut with a spoon. I loved the interior decorations- very funky!

Atmosphere automatically wins it! We have been before when visiting Destin & was recommended by another traveler years ago. This time there was live music & the Bartender was amazing at serving my husband and I. Food was delicious and drinks were on point! Had another wonderful dinner experience!

The atmosphere was really amazing, especially being a Friday night with the live band and dancing!! Food was ok-we got stuffed bell peppers to share and kids didn't like it but husband did. Potatoes were really good though. I opted for the skinny margarita and it was better than a regular margarita from anywhere else around that I've tried so far! Service was slow but when we did have service, the gentleman was really friendly. All in all, we would come back.

Have been to Bric a Brac a few times in the past. All during the summer months when it is packed and a live band playing. Prices then were reasonable given the entertainment. Down here this week (Oct) and decided to have dinner here. No band and not crowded at all. Left feeling like we had gotten taken. I know we are under inflationary times, but this is ridiculous. $6.50 for a 12 oz Yuengling draft $9.00 for a 4-5 oz glass of wine that you pay $8.00/bottle for at the grocery store...literally. This was bad enough, but..... $36 for two silver dollar sized crab cakes, mashed potatoes and some veggies???? The crab cakes weren't "the best in town" I can assure you. $36 for a 5-6 oz piece of blackened Grouper with a deep fried "something" patty and veggies??? (at least I hope it was grouper) It tasted fine, but it was EASILY double what it should have reasonably been priced. So disappointed. Won't be back, nor will I continue to recommend. To be fair, the server was nice and I tipped him $26.83. I always tip well if the service is good. The prices are not their fault.

A local at another restaurant gave us a tip to come and try this place out, and she mentioned to try the ceviche, and it was delicious! It is served with chips like a dip, and was amazing! Also saw on their menu that they have an award winning crab cake. It was very good and I have high standards with growing up near Maryland and their crab cakes. It wasn't the best I have ever had, but it was good. We sat at the bar to watch basketball final four and had great service and yummy drinks! They make them strong, which is great. You get your money's worth. We were there on a Saturday evening and they had a live band. Great local spot with great decor, good food, yummy drinks and nice service.

Awesome sauce! So freaking good!!! Man, oh, man! We made reservations over Facebook messenger. They took a while to respond to our messages but they eventually did. We reserved a table for 12 at 6:00 p.m. on a Friday. We were seated quickly and our waitress, Annie was great! I ordered the chicken and others in my party orders other meals. Everything was excellent! So good! Everyone at the table raved about the food. I've been in Destin for almost a week and this was the best meal so far! They have live music, happy hour and great food! If your in Destin, you will kick yourself if you don't eat here!

This place is rightfully named. It's a give and a take. It's more like a bar than an actual restaurant (a dive bar to boot!) There's a stage which is lined with a chain of red lights lining the stage. The restaurant has hand gaudy hand painted picnic tables to sit at. Since I had a Groupon, we decided to stay for dinner. My partner had a dinner salad. It was nothing as described on the menu which stated all kinds of added ingredients. Nope!; it came with dried up lettuce out of a bagged mix with a few capers thrown on top. I had the market fish. It came grilled (choice of grilled or fried). Served on a cheesy grits cake which was good and spinach. They even served me a (yes 1) dinner roll -- with no butter or bread plate or spread -- although it was tasty. I requested an extra for my partner's dry salad. I will admit that the fish was very fresh and seasoned well... but the ambiance is just not my type of dining establishment; rather, in my opinion, a place to catch a cocktail or hear a local musician -- which pardon my rambling-- my other half to order a hard lemonade that was amazing. Come for the fish, if you don't mind the funky bar ambience. Come for the drinks and who knows? The dancing here, music and night life might be better than I can imagine.

It was s little hard to find but glad we stuck with it. What a great atmosphere! We went on New Year's Eve and the staff was great. The menu isn't big but the selection is wide. My champion had the stuffed green peppers. Never find these on menus anymore. He loved them, never even touched his roll. I had blacken grouper with ginger glaze. I ate everything and use my roll to mop up the sauce. Best kept secret in Destin. We will definitely be coming back. Added bonus is the story behind the opening of the restaurant in honor of the grandfather. read more

When in Destin, GO HERE! Every time we are in Destin, we eat here. On this visit (MAR 10), we had the blackened snapper & the crab cakes. One word - OUTSTANDING! ....as advertised, Best Crab Cakes in Destin. The food here is ALWAYS fantastic. $2 beers & $5 martinis; it simply doesn't get any better than this. Great entertainment & highly energetic place. Never had a bad meal here. We love the Bric a Brac!!!! read more

Was close to where we were staying so we visited twice - once for dinner once for lunch. Service was just ok. The fish & chips lunch - grouper was perfect, not at all greasy. BaB chicken - delicious!! Flavorful, sauce was not too heavy. Live entertainment was fun. read more

I was a little skeptical about this place but it totally exceeded my expectations! It has a very quirky decor and a small menu but don't let that fool you. What they do make, they make well!! I had pork tenderloin and it was phenomenal, my husband had chicken with capers, also amazing. Finished the meal with the strawberry shortcake concoction, it was fantastic! Don't overlook this place, it's worth a try! read more

If you haven't been here, you are totally missing out! Tried it after seeing a deal on Groupon and reading reviews. You will not be disappointed. The food was amazing, the service awesome and the atmosphere fun! David did a great job taking care of us and we will definitely go back for crab cakes, Bric á Brac chicken and the key lime pie! The hostess was also wonderful, recommending a super cute boutique to visit at the Commons! read more

Absolute best little spot in Destin. The atmosphere is so inviting. Live music was perfect and just made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. Definitely one of the most kid friendly restaurants we have ever been to while on vacation. The kids menu had a scavenger hunt for the kids to find different objects on the walls within the restaurant. If you're not won over by all these things, just try the food! My husband got blackened grouper, which we both agreed was the best fish either of us had tried anywhere in Destin. Mine and the kids' entrees were all to die for, as well. I cannot even begin describe all the great things this place has to offer. We are in love with Bric-a-Brac!!! read more

Ok there are two reviews here. The first is from my 9yo son, as follows: Great place! They have samples, the service is awesome, and they have live music! My chicken was awesome! It had tender chicken, a big serving of mashed potatoes, about 15 sweet potato fries, and and a biscuit! I think every meal has the main dish and three extra sides. Worth trying for tourism or just a local meal. It's family and beach friendly and is very decorative, overall very good place! Now for my review: It was excellent. Had the chicken - huge portions and quite tasty. Would describe as tropical but not sweet - so "brightly" flavored? My daughter had the ground beef stuffed peppers and liked it. Service was exemplary. Very approachable staff and extremely attentive. Where do you get that in Destin? Plus $2 drafts for happy hour and we were out for $50 before tip for 3 of us. Cannot recommend this place enough based on this first (and only, so far) experience. Also live music Thursday to Saturday nights. read more

This is a great place for date night, or take the kids. Great food, eclectic decor, lots to look at and food is really GREAT! The grouper is amazing and great price for so much food, large fish served on top of grit cake with yellow and zucchini squash and yeast roll. Very flavorful at nice price. Came with salad and house dressing, also great flavors. I highly recommend. They also have live music, Saturday night was coconut radio, 2 person band very good music. read more

This was our 2nd visit to the area and made this place a MUST this time around. Service was great ~ Hannah is AMAZINGLY attentive! Our first visit was during off peak hours and had the ceviche (excellent), 2nd time was just drinks to wait for upstairs to open for "Latin Night" - music was awesome ~ DJ knows his music ~ he played the classics, romantic salsa, great merengue and good bachata ~ music one can truly dance to and enjoy just listening. We came back for dinner on our last night there ordered the ceviche again, hubby had the blackened fish and I had the eggplant. Oh! the mashed potatoes ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD ~ I just wish it wasn't our last night or I would have boxed them up....servings are plentiful and excellent. The bar staff is also great ~ bartender made it a point to prepare hubby's "mango/peach mojito" in excellence. Loved the place, the staff, the food, the owners ~ absolutely EVERYTHING. We will definitely be back on our next visit. PS ~ the live music on Saturday nights is Coconut Radio and they are awesome!!! read more

Food was great. They don't have a very large dinner menu but they do it well. Inside was very loud but if you want a quiet meal you should eat outside. I had grilled grouper with the cheese and bacon grits cake and the veggies were cubed zucchini, yellow squash, and onion. My husband had the crab cakes meal with mashed potatoes (he said were delicious) and same veggies. Kids had the chicken strips with fries and mom said she loved her shrimp scampi pasta. read more

I really wanted to like Bric a Brac, the atmosphere is fun and the food was decent but the service was just, "blah." My fiance and I came here to get some yummy seafood on a Sunday. They were only serving brunch but that was OK because there were several fish dishes on the menu. Our server led us to our table with nary a "hello" and took our drink orders. And then we started waiting. I watched our server stare at the football game on TV while our beers sat on the bar. And then we waited for our food - Grouper fingers and fries for me and Mahi Mahi for the fiance - which was good but took entirely too long to come out of the kitchen. We had to flag our server down for refills, honey mustard, and our bill because he just couldn't tear himself away from the game (and I'm a huge football fan!) There are better places in Destin with much better service than this! read more

Loved that it was laid back and the menu was simple. (Cute surfboards) Great happy hour pricing on wine and beer! We ALL (teen kids included) really enjoyed our meals. Wow! I was totally blown away by this place, I feel like we found a hidden gem! The staff was AMAZING!! By far the nicest and most helpful people we have met so far in a restaurant in Florida! The waitress was working on her birthday, and she totally embraced it! The food was equally as amazing, everything we ordered was outstanding. The owners take a lot of pride in their business and with good reason! They are both adult and kid friendly for sure. Do not even think twice, find time to dine here!!! read more

We've been coming to Destin for years but wanted to try something new. Bric A Brac is now a family favorite!! The food was amazing (shrimp n grits, crab cakes, fish and chips)! Donna was attentive to anything we needed. They had a game for the kids to play while we waited for our food and then there was the music and dancing. All around one of the best places we've been in a long time. We hate it's taken so long to find it but we'll be back now!!! read more

Just popped in here for lunch because it was near a snorkeling spot I'd looked up, and I was famished. Walking in, the place was crazy, outta control with its outlandish and eclectic mix of decor. Elephant heads, surfboards and slot machines filled the place with a bizarre coolness. I love spots like this, but I didn't expect the food to be as good as it was, cause it seemed they were going mainly for a bar, nightclub kinda deal. I expected bar food. The fried shrimp salad was great, with a citrusy cocktail sauce on the side that was incredible ( they should be using it in bloody Mary's ). Shrimp were cooked perfectly in a light, seasoned flour coating and I inhaled the whole thing in 3 minutes flat. Crab cakes were voted the best out there, and I don't doubt that it's true. Anyway this was a great surprise, and I highly recommend. read more

Lovely place, excellent service, great seafood. The blackened grouper with mashed potatoes, spinach and orange glaze was well-priced at $24.00. The shrimp ceviche lacked shrimp but had an abundance of diced tomatoes and onions. The kid's cheese pizza was OK. Go for the drink special, a large blue cocktail. Live music as promised! read more

Visited July 13, 2016. Good food, funky atmosphere, fun time and the service was quick and friendly. We wanted to try a restaurant that was not a tourist trap and this place fit the bill. We have recommended this to friends who visit Destin to definitely give this place a try. Must try the Crab Cakes and the Blackend Snapper. read more

My wife, kids and myself we love to go to Bric a Brac on Saturday's for dinner, we love their live music and atmosphere, this is a family owned restaurant, the twins ( the owners) are always there smiling and helping everyone; the food is delicious, I love the Bric a Brac chicken and my wife loves the pastalaya and my kids love to dance while we are having dinner, great restaurant for friends and family that are looking to have fun and enjoy a great meal!!! read more

Bric a Brac continues to amaze me. The food is so good. We went 3 times this week while on vacation. The BnB chicken is one of our favorites and plenty big enough to share. The blackened grouper is the best ever. Again, at 9 ounces can be shared. Finished out visits with Mahi Mahi, sooooooooo good. The smoked tuna dip and crab chowder are to die for. Happy Hour can't be beat and all entertainment is great. This is a must visit for Destin!! read more

To bad we stopped in for dessert and did not get to experience the Full "Bric a Brac". Full stars for the atmosphere, music, Bric a Brac, and dessert! Staff very personable. If we didn't have plans we would swing in for dinner. Goodness from Siri, asked where they served strawberry shortcake in Destin, Bric a Brac was first on the list! Just had their 2 year anniversary at this location, you may notice Happy Birthday, Congrats, and other festive balloons all around. A quick walk through the restaurant will overpower the senses with trinkets/bobbles, nic-nacks, etc. read more

It's just another surf themed style restaurant, without all the gaudy decorations.

Until last night I had never eaten at Bric a Brac. We hosted a 60th birthday party in their private space upstairs. I was more than thrilled at how things turned out. The space is amazing! We had our own bar, our own dance floor, and a private balcony. To top that off, there is no room fee for the space. I have to admit that we were probably a difficult group to handle, but the staff was very accommodating, and very professional in the way they dealt with the group. They even went off the menu, and provided us with a specially requested meat and cheese tray to get the party started. I happen to be a waiter, and as one of the hosts I was especially inquisitive of our guests about the quality of the food, and the service. I didn't hear one negative comment. They even helped us clean up our party decorations afterwards. What more could you ask for? Thanks to the owners and staff for wonderful evening! I chose Bric A Brac as the location of my wedding celebration and wedding ceremony. It was the best decision I ever made! Bric A Brac has a beautiful balcony that overlooks the water, which is where we had the ceremony and a private dance floor and bar upstairs. The location was perfect, I loved the eclectic and festive feel of the restaurant and all of the staff seems happy to work there and is beyond helpful and pleasant to work with. All of my guests still rave about my wedding and the number one comment is that it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. I was on a tight budget and Bric A Brac worked with me to keep costs down. The service at my wedding was perfect and seamless. This is a diamond in the rough! Just bought a condo on Holiday Isle and took my sons out to dinner on a Tuesday evening. Were greeted by the owner Fernando and immediately seated. We had heard that their crab cakes were voted number 1 two years in a row and decided to try it! We were so impressed with the shrimp ceviche appetizer! We all three had the crab cakes which held up to their reputation! The salad had a wonderful dressing and the mashed potatoes and squash sides were awesome. Such a great atmosphere inside as well!
