Celebrated Mother's Day here with a group of 12. We chose this place by luck, and lucky we were. The food was delicious, we ordered about 3 apps,& salads for starters. The bruschetta's were a hit, everyone's main course came out together with no hiccups. Taste & portions of mains were just right. We tagged on the beets & spinach as shareable. Really enjoyed the food the first time I went and wanted to go back. Made reservation for the bar for 8pm- they had us wait for like 10 min if we wanted the bar seats that we had on our reservation(not the end of the world, understandable) but then offered us a communal table. We were willing to wait for the bar but we were pretty much told that it wasn't happening as they told us we could only sit across the street or at the Loud and CRAMMED communal tables. When we were asking the hostess for another option as my boyfriend is hard of hearing and we would've had a silent (yet noisy) date at the communal table, a blonde woman came out from the back and yelled to us "THE OTHER SEATS ARE TAKEN BY A PARTY OF 5". I just don't understand the point of allowing people to make reservations if you can't honor them (even twenty/thirty minutes after the time they were for) nor how it makes sense to be rude to the customers at your own screw up. read more

Came here with two friends because one of them visited before and loved it. There is an outside area, a bar area, and a dining area. The dining area is small and the bar area decor is casual. The ambiance really does make me think I'm in Italy. It's cozy and I do feel that you can spend a lot of time here. I would keep in mind that the area by the bar is a bit narrow and the dining room is a bit small as well. We had Alex as our server and he was very friendly. I had an Aperol spritz. It personally wasn't my favorite. My appetizer was the lamb chops and my gosh. These lamb chops were amazing! For our mains, we ordered the special lamb shank risotto, I ordered the Rigatoni e Gamberi, and Steak special. I wanted to order the Lamb, but since I'm not a mashed potato eater I couldn't get it. The lamb was DELICIOUS! I also liked my friend's steak. When it came to my Rigatoni, it was a bit dry and lackluster. I was a bit sad. We finished with the Tiramisu and it was delicious! The day i went the AC was not working on a hot summers day and the ventilation wasn't too good. indoors is a bit cramped since it's just a bar seating family style Luckily there was plenty of outdoor seating and the service was kind enough to move us to a better table. this made the experience much better for me. very kind and polite staff always helping out. Absolutely try out their specials of the day. Very cozy place... For dinner on the weekend reservations are definitely recommended. It's very small inside. Bar area has maybe 4 stools if you're lucky. Our table in the dining area was pretty large. This room has a communal table that serves up to 14. When we dined in Friday night before our show there were 4 open spots. They do have covered outdoor seating which holds about another 20. For our appetizer we shared the burrata & Prosciutto. Our main courses were lamb shank risotto and Rigatoni & Gamberi. That one had spicy grilled shrimp, garlic & a tomato sauce. Don't forget to save some bread for dipping purposes at the end. Service by Lou was excellent. She shared many recommendations especially the ricotta cheesecake for dessert. Although I didn't partake in booze, they have an outstanding wine list. Booked a reservation for lunch on a weekday, tons of seating still so definitely possible to walk-in. We asked to sit at the ourdoor seating tables as it was a beautiful day out, great for getting to people watch as you wait for your food too! We both got a quartino of red wine and started with the shrimp scampi appetizer. I had the orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe which was only OK. The texture of the pasta did not taste very fresh in my opinion and there was not much flavor in the dish. I would not get this dish again. My friend got the fettuccine with wild mushrooms and truffle oil and that dish was much better than the orecchiette due to more sauce and more flavoring. The bread they gave us at the start seemed old and not fresh. Service was fine. The ambiance of the place is dark, some lighting and diners share one long table which could be awkward if you want more privacy to talk to whoever you're eating with. Where do you go to eat Italian before a Broadway play in New York City? Made reservations earlier in the day to eat here. Big parkette to serve people outdoors, complete with lighting. One person with a large poodle had to sit outdoors. Most of the seating is outdoors, with limited indoor seating. Weather cold but dry on Sept 29. This was one of the last evenings for outdoor dining. Five consecutive days of rain and wind from remnants of Hurricane Ian started October 1, dumping 3.3 inches of rain. Wife said it was too windy to sit outside, and we went indoors. Indoor family table with 18 high stools, besides the bar. They directed us to sit on opposite sides of the long table. Eventually a party of 4 sat on one end of the table, and a party of 3 sat on the other end of the table, with us 2 in-betweens. Hot bread is complimentary, but you have to ask for it. My $10 minestrone soup full of potatoes, carrots, green beans. A bit thin as more of a clear chicken broth than the usual tomato based. Average portion size. Would not order again. Waiter recited a long list of special dishes not on the menu. One of them was branzino, which I would have ordered, but knew my wife loves the similar Chilean sea bass. I pointed this out to her, and she ordered it on the spot. Wife's $27 branzino was buttery in texture, delicious flakes of white fish. Excellent price for sea bass. Served on top of mashed potatoes to make it look larger, with spinach on the side. The European bass was an extra and not on the daily menu, with portion large for the price. My $18 Bolognese, small dish on a huge plate. Delicious but could have used more ground beef, and more sauce, and on the small size portion. More cheese than ground beef. Getting out was a feat, as little room between people's behinds and the wall to exit. Need to pay close attention to the waiter detailing the many extras not on the menu. I ate at Bricola several years ago and loved it. And I decided to visit again with my cousin recently. I'm so glad to say that Bricola is still as wonderful as I remembered. I got the Tagliatelle Bolognese, and we got the Mozzarella Saporita and Tiramisu to share. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the meat sauce is so rich and delicious. And the mozzarella dish was so yummy, and the tiramisu was just lovely. Our waitress was also so wonderful - very warm, friendly, and attentive. This was hands down the most delicious chocolate cake I have ever had in my life. I got the Gnocchi Sorrentina, the Warm Chocolate Souffle and a Moscow mule. The gnocchi came with mozzarella cheese and was delicious. The Moscow mule was a little too lime for my liking but it was still good. You can sit inside or outside, the inside was a tighter fit so if you mind sitting close to other guests I would recommend sitting outside instead but I didn't mind. This is a gem of an authentic Italian restaurant near Broadway theaters. There is a full separate bar and then the restaurant. It is one long wooden rustic table with chairs on either side which is charming. While so many Italian restaurants serve entrees which should be advertised for serving two, Briciola serves true individual portions at reasonable prices. ($18 for an entree). There are delicious salads and vegetables a la cart. I highly recommend the roasted beets. Never tasted such decadent beets that were oven roasted in olive oil love oil with crushed fresh garlic. That day there was a lasagna special which was rich with cheese and meat. The fish special resulted in a perfectly cooked filet that was tender and scrumptious. While the desserts are limited to 3, none will disappoint you. The tiramisu and chocolate cake are melt in your mouth. The service was prompt and courteous. The owner stops by to ensure that you are satisfied. It is so refreshing to have a restaurant where you don't need to take a doggie bag with you to the theater. Their bar cocktails are excellent too. Don't miss out on this gem. I'm so grateful to a Chelsea Market walking food tour guide who recommended this gem to us. Located in between Eight and Ninth Avenue, the restaurant is in very close proximity to a number of the off-Broadway theaters and as reasonable distance from a number of Broadway Shows. Many of the restaurants situated on the "streets" now have covered sidewalk dining areas. This one is tiny (roughly 6 four tops) and the tables are packed closely together. I did not look inside. Service - Just OK. At times, I feel like that in NYC the servers cater to the locals to the detriment of the tourists. We waited an inordinate amount of time for a server to address us after being seated. After placing our order, our server stopped at the table next (patrons who were locals) to ask if they were ready to order. As our table was inches apart from their table, we could hear one of the patrons say that they wanted the "special". There were specials? We would have no idea since none were mentioned to us by the same server that took their order. We ordered a carafe of wine and noticed that it was 3/4 filled, but thought little of it. Until a carafe of wine was delivered to the table next to us and noticed that it was filled nearly to the brim! Food - Good, but nothing special. We shared a appetizer that was prosciutto wrapped in mozzarella. It was very good. I ordered the lobster ravioli, based upon several Yelp reviews raving about the dish. For me, it was just OK. The sauce was good, nothing special. To say that the raviolis were stuff with lobster would be an exaggeration at the very least. In fact, there was so little that I tasted primarily pasta. We did split a tiramisu for dessert and may well have been the best that I have ever tasted. Overall Value. Good. Although not pricey, I would note that only 4-5 blocks away from this restaurant you will find Restaurant Row, which has at least 2 superior Italian restaurants and many other great dining options. We had made reservations before a show and were happy there was outside seating. There were tables outside under a makeshift eating area but it was crowded, so we chose a table on the sidewalk. Unfortunately it started raining and we had to move under the noisy structure. It was extremely hard to carry on a conversation with people a foot away from us. We started with wine. You can order by the glass, the carafe, or bottle. The carafe is nice as you get close to 2 glasses for not that much of a price increase over a glass. The menu is your placemat. It's fairly limited and is mainly pasta dishes. I had hoped for some veal dish, but there was nothing. We started with an appetizer of warm mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto and doused with balsamic vinegar. The appetizer was good but with just two small pieces, I was wanting more. They serve warm bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, but the tables are so small and they don't give you bread plates, so we had to eat the bread along with our appetizer so we had somewhere to put the oil and vinegar. I opted for the gnocchi as my entree. It came out nice and hot and looked appealing. They were just what you would expect, little dough balls topped with tomato sauce and mozzarella. I came here with my boyfriend about a week ago to have a late lunch. We didn't have a reservation but there was plenty of space for us to sit. They have a great selection of wines to choose from. We ordered the burrata with prosciutto and coste d'agnello for appetizers and they were very good, although the prosciutto was cut very thick which is not of my preference. Then we ordered two plates of pasta. He had the spaghetti with meatballs and he said he liked it, it was just a tomato sauce pasta with two meatballs. I, on the other hand, was very excited to try the pesto and artichokes pasta. And I was very disappointed by it. It was literally just a pesto pasta with ONE QUARTER of a little artichoke, and not even the fresh one, it was the pickled/jar ones. So I find it funny that they call it "pesto and artichokeS* pasta" when it's only one piece of it I was so disappointed I couldn't even finish my plate, it left me sad. The coffee was burned and I needed two sugars to drink it. I'm not sure if I would come back because of the disappointment but the rest of the food was great so probably I'll just try something else. :) read more

Magical. Sat outside on a mild September night. Was looking for good neighborhood Italian joint on Yelp following a long flight. Ordered the special octopus salad on the server's recommendation, and the classic lasagna with fresh bread and glass of Montepulciano. The food was spectacularly fresh and delicious, the wine impossibly yummy. Some regulars with dogs came by to say hi to some staff outside. It's a small place, but at one point there were four of us each eating alone outside at a two-top, just enjoying the vibes. Server said it's been here 12 years. Deserves at least another 12. It's a beautiful little wine/Italian tapas spot, with a view of... a wall of microwaves. Is that not the biggest red flag ever? None of it adds up and I've never been in a restaurant that doesn't even bother to hide the fact that they use a microwave... especially when it looks like they've put so much care into the rest of the space. The microwaves immediately make you feel like you're being fooled and that nothing you order is being cooked. We sat outside and when we ordered, they were not able to make any modifications. My friend is allergic to mushrooms and wasn't able to order his meal without mushrooms. Once I saw the microwaves though, it all clicked that the food is probably pre-made somewhere else, as this place is small. Gave it a four star but it's now 20 minutes since I asked for the bill and the order was not correct so service is really quite sub par and as I am growing increasingly frustrated wanting to pay and go - I cannot give it any better rating. This was by far our worst server of 2021! We sat at the inside communal table which is a lot of fun - there are also pretty outside tables should you prefer that! We had our drink order taken pretty quickly but not out food order and sat waiting for a good 15 minutes. At the time of writing this review I was considering dessert but gave up when no one appeared!! The food is the redeeming factor - it's excellent. The Melanzane Caprino ( egg plant and goats cheese ) was the standout for me!! One of the best dishes I have ever eaten ! Scampi also really good as were the clams . Mussels needed to be warmer !
