I have been to the Havertown location plenty of times so I already know what to expect coming from their kitchen. So right off the bat I have to say I clearly enjoy this location better than the one in Havertown. Why do I enjoy this location better? Clearly it is SPACE!! You can actually breath in here, rather than that cramped feeling in Havertown. Yes they are busy, yes they have some pretty good crafts along with the wine selections, down to that well concocted cocktail. The libation gods would definitely approve. Brick and Brew you did it right with this location in Media , plus I remember this being the old Plumstead Inn back in the day. To tell you the truth it is like night and day from the old Plumstead, a fresh take to it. Before it was closed up making kind of stale inside, well Brick and Brew they opened up the front where you can see what's happening on State St. The service was a little spotty , but then again these guys were stacked and packed when we arrived for our late to early dinner. Nothing wrong with that, that is a good sign when you are trying to accommodate to everyone wanting a pie and a craft! Quick run down of what we enjoyed that I think you should give it a go. Appetizer: *Fried Pickles~ Much better over here, plus get them cooked a little longer. Ask for it extra crispy with that chipolte mayo for your dipping pleasure. *Stuffed Pineapple~ OH MY this is a must get ! Just picture this stuffed with a hickory pulled pork , house made bbq sauce, with an avocado salsa mingling in between, along with a cojita cheese resting over top. Shh I know ! Pizza: All of these were made properly, having that Neapolitan style to it with that perfect crust , that has been slightly charred *Short Rib~ WINNER right here! A pie that had short rib on it you know it's gonna be banging with the , gorgonzola, mozzarella, and caramelized onion all up on it! *Pulled Pork~ It is basically a breakfast pizza... with a twist. Obviously pulled pork, their house bbq sauce, fingerling potatoes, a fontina cheese, with an egg over easy laying over top. Right. I know what you're thinking, whats up with that egg thing? Its ok, nothing to write home about. *Margherita~ Your classic pie with that well known San Marzanno tomatoes, tomato sauce, mozzarella ,and basil. In all I prefer the Media Brick and Brew over the Havertown location, if I were to return. Solid 3.5 so I'll be generous and go with a 4 count. read more

Maybe we caught this place on a bad day, but our experience was really not great relative to the food. We came in for lunch on a Saturday. The staff was great, but everything we ordered was overly greasy. Everyone in my group typically loves fried pickles, but ours were so greasy that we barely touched them. You don't taste any pickle....just grease. They are sliced paper thin, which doesn't help. We went with pizza's thinking we couldn't go wrong in that category, but they were both so greasy that we had to ask for more napkins to soak up the pools on the cheese. The location and service is great, but we probably won't be back for the food. read more

My Son and I in Media, PA for a funeral of my best friend, and it ended at 8pm. So we were looking for a lively place and this is it....Our waitress I am so sorry I cannot remember her name was she was the most awesomeness person! Maybe she can remember by the Octopus appetizer we had and I wasn't sure because it had jalapeno peppers and I can't handle that heat and she said to just try it! However not to worry as the jalapeno seeds were removed from that appetizer because there was no heat whatsever! My Son loves the heat so he was a tad disappointed and wished something other than crispy banana plantains were served rather than a cracker of some sort. But the appetizer was delicious and so was our main meal. I love this restaurant, we are from Asheboro, North Carolina and not many great restaurants in town. Was really disappointed with our last visit. My husband and I planned a lunch for my last day of maternity leave. We researched lots of options and landed on Brick and Brew in Media since a friend had been there that weekend and noted people with strollers on the patio. We need a stroller because (1) we are walking around Media and (2) our child is 2 months and cannot hold his head up ‍ We arrived around noon on a Thursday. It was fairly empty, only one couple on the patio. It was hot out so we asked if we could sit on the patio out of the way and in the shade. It was made very clear that the stroller was an issue. The hostess told us they are not supposed to accommodate strollers. I can understand this on a busy day or dinner service. Believe me we would not impose. Their accommodation was to reluctantly agree to seat us on the empty patio but it had to be in the sun. Hmm, no thank you. We left. Very disappointed as we mentioned our friend had been there 3 days prior where strollers were accommodated. Lots of people with small kids live in Media, and on a dead Thursday I would think they would want to assist us in spending our money with them. read more

I really enjoy Brick and Brew a lot I even introduce people to it quite often. I took my sister this time and we enjoyed drinks, appetizers and salads. I started with a bourbon cocktail with rosemary and bitters. It was tasty. I ordered the amazingly tender grilled octopus on the starters page. It is one of my favorite dishes on the menu. It comes with white beans, chorizo, and a paprika vinaigrette. I ordered the Bao Buns, steamed buns with flank steak. So tender and delicious. My sister got the chicken ceasar salad. The two stars are for the ambiance, decor, and service. However, the food at this location was not good. We recently visited the Malvern location and opted for the same dishes. At this Media location, the burger was severely salty. It felt like it was burning my tongue with sodium. The fries on the other hand were a bit undercooked and had no salt. My boyfriend got the chicken sandwich but at this location he did not enjoy it at all and he pretty much loves most chicken sandwiches. Maybe we caught it on an off day and as cute as it is, I don't think we'll return. read more

We were then met with another amazingly unfriendly individual who proceeded to say, well we are busy and if we could get you a table you'll have to order quickly the kitchen closes in 30 minutes. Listen, I get it, it's great you're busy. But being busy isn't an excuse to be rude. The food here isn't that amazing that allows the people upfront to treat potential customers like garbage. Came into Brick and Brew this afternoon to have lunch with my children and had one of the most crazy experiences I've ever had going out to eat. First thing you notice is the smell of smoke when you walk through the door, not like a cigarette or but more like a burning smell. As we preceded to our table we kept looking around and noticed that dining room was in fact foggy. I'm my head I'm starting to ask a lot of questions but my kids wanted to come here so I just pushed in the back of my mind and hoped that the smell and clear smoke in the air would dissipate(it did not). After sitting down we were greeted by our server, Analisa(by the way absolutely delightful and understanding) that they were running a limited menu due to a problem with kitchen(clearly). By this point I should've just said "you know what, we're good" but I persisted and was holding out hope. Analisa took our drinks and we preceded to look over the menu with the limited options we were given. Everytime someone would walk to and from the kitchen through the doors more and more smoke would come out and I'm starting to see that this isn't going to get any better. I had asked to speak to the manager whose name was Nicole and she came over and I explained that I have Asthma and my children are little this really isn't safe to having this much smoke in a restaurant and that we were going to have to leave. She was extremely apologetic and understanding to our situation and offered us a gift card for the next we came in if we so desire. I respect that fact that she was real and honest with me and didn't try to play off my feelings to a somewhat serious issue. Writing this now I'm thinking about the people who had to work in that smoke filled kitchen and breath in God knows what AND not to mention the fact that this is such a fire hazard is unreal to me. read more

Brick & Brew is an awesome spot for great bar food and beers. I've been here a few times and have likes almost everything I've tried. On Wednesday I was out with friends and we decided to stop in. We were seated immediately in a booth, and decided to share a bunch of appetizers. We shared the soft pretzels, tostadas, lettuce wraps, and a fried chicken sandwich. The pretzels were good, but small. The mustard had A LOT of horseradish in it. I was kind of into it but also kind of had my sinuses cleared so there's that. The lettuce wraps and tostadas were great! My only complaint with the tostadas was that the shells kept breaking so they were really hard to eat. The fried chicken sandwich is always delicious and B&B's fries are absolute crack. Of course after all our food we needed dessert and got a big cookie topped with sea salt and ice cream that was soooo delicious. I have to say I love Brick n Brew, I just wish they had more room! I'm typically here on weekends and it is always packed. The bar is cool if you can get a spot, but otherwise waiting here can be tough. read more

I went to Brick and Brew on State Street on 3/24/24. The food was excellent. I truly enjoyed my meal. The low point of my day was the horrible service and treatment I received from Javan (the bartender). It took him five minutes (I timed him with my watch). When we asked him if he was ok, he said I am concentrating. I wonder what he was concentrating on? When the bill arrived, I asked him for my veterans discount. He said we don't give a veterans discount. I told him there was a sign in the window. He said, I can't see the sign. He also stated that no-one told him veterans get a discount. Then he said I have to ask my manager. When the manager came over, he said he needs a discount. If he did not know about the discount, he should have been courteous and said let me check with my manager and not treat me in a disrespectful manner. Is that how they treat veterans in Brick and Brew? Either way, the manager gave me my veterans discount. Even though Javan was disrespectful, I gave him a 15% tip. read more

I really wanted to like this place but it was just okay and not really worth the money spent. I gave it 3 stars because my friend that I dined with liked their food just fine. As for me I had a problem with the really uncomfortable chairs at the tables, and the fact that it was dark and cold on a summer afternoon. I order fried pickles for an appetizer. They were okay but it was my first time having them so it could be that I do not like them. I also order a quinoa burger that was blahhh. The burger had no real distinctive flavor and the bun was dry and added to the blahhhness of it. I spoke to the manager to tell her "hey, this is not good". Went with friends I hadn't seen in forever. In hindsight, we should have chosen a less noisy place because we had tons to catch up on and it was hard to hear. It started off rocky because we waited forever for a table- the hostess kept thinking we were a party of 5 and waiting for a larger table to open, despite us telling her 3 times over the hour that we were just 4. Thankfully, the food and drinks were on point. The bartender made a solid old fashioned. I loved my food- burnt pork belly ends with grits and an egg could have been my entree. But I powered through and found room for a fantastic flatbread- can't remember the name, but it had a perfect char and pickles on it! Sat outside here for a friend's bday! Loved the outdoor seating and our waitress was very friendly! We ordered a bunch of apps, the prosciutto fries and wings were delicious! The pretzel was honestly pathetic the way it came out, such small pieces- would have rather had the full thing. We loved the stuffed pineapple! The updated look is GREAT! I didn't like this place so much the first couple times and it was mostly the atmosphere. That was a few years ago. Now it's bright and much more appealing. Last night we had a couple delicious cocktails including a Trolley Car which I believe is seasonal. It was refreshing! We also had the jerk wings from the weekly specials, still braised in duck fat like the regular wings, so we ordered them well done and they were perfect!! The service takes forever to take the order, to have drinks and food brought out and we weren't checked on during our meal for refills or to add anything else on. Brick and Brew was a great find with a very inspired menu. I loved everything about this place and really wish I lived closer! Fiancé and I traveled out to the burbs to get our marriage license and wanted to find a cool bar to celebrate. This spot definitely fit the bill and really fires on all cylinders. Let's start with the drinks! The watermelon margarita was the best cocktail I've had in a long time. It tastes fresh and the black salt and bits of watermelon really took it to the next level. Fiancé got a pineapple margarita which was good but I definitely prefer the watermelon. But all the cocktails looked to be tasty and creative. Now for the food. These wings were the best I've ever had, and I don't say that lightly. The bit about the duck fat almost scared me away but whatever they put on those wings, it's working. They were crispy spicy bits of heaven and I can't recommend them highly enough. We also got a pizza with crab meat which we loved. The ambiance is on point, the waitress was lovely, and the food and drinks kicked ass. I hope I can make an excuse to get back out to Media again to make another visit! read more

I was really excited to try this place out after reading so many reviews. The service was great for it being packed on a Friday night. My boyfriend ordered the wild boar sliders which was so good! I ordered the pulled pork... It was drowning in bbq sauce and too sweet. We order the bacon app which was pretty good but mostly fat and only a-bit of meat.. wouldn't call it dinosaur cut but whatever. Two cans of beer and one cider cost $18 already.Definitely over priced but I would come back for the wild boar sliders and home made ketchup . That night the restaurant was so loud I couldn't hear the waiter talk and kept asking him to repeat himself and my boyfriend and I could barely have conversation without me yelling at him to repeat himself too.. this kinda put a damper on date night. read more

Another bad experience at Brick and Brew. I'm officially done trying. I have no idea how this place has 4 stars. I only came tonight because they are one of the only places open on Monday. We ate at the bar and had to wait a long time to order -- about 15 minutes. Our first round of food came out pretty quickly but it was universally bad. The hummus was watery, and the pita bread it came with was somehow both raw and overdone at the same time. Like raw dough on the inside and blackened on the outside. Gross. The deviled eggs smelled disgusting and looked like they had been sitting out for a while -- crusted on top. Not good when it's shrimp.... When the bartender came back about a half hour later and we had barely touched either item, we told her she could take them because they were not good at all. She said something like "Really? Sorry..." but didn't ask any follow up questions or offer to make it right. Also, I feel like you have to be trying to have fruit flies in December. And yes, I've worked in restaurants (a lot). The pretzel and the margherita pizza we ordered were pretty good, and the drinks were fine, which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. read more

Visited this restaurant after doing an Xscape room a few blocks away. This place is a feast for the eyes. The decor and atmosphere is awesome. I loved all the elements that make this place unique, such as the way the tables are set into railroad/trolley tracks, the simulated light poles and wiring, the barrels on the ceiling, the unique light fixtures and even the bathrooms carry the theme throughout. The service was excellent. Our waitress gave us a run down of the menu and helped us select a few items we were torn between. Over all the menu has many items with clever ingredient combinations. Tried the: Hummus platter Veggie and margarita thin crust pizza Ribeye grilled cheese Pulled pork sandwich And pulled pork and pineapple appetizer Everything came very well paced out, drinks and refills were done promptly. My honey got the watermelon margarita which was delicious. Overall good food and a nice place for some familiar and some not so familiar food items. read more

I've eaten at the Havertown location and had a 5 star experience. Came here for lunch. Ordered Brussel sprouts and fried pickles. Very tasty, but took so long they apologized. I liked the pickles b/c the sliced them length wise and used a tempura like batter. We ordered a grilled cheese and zucchini sliders. They also took too long and they apologized again. The zucchini sliders were super salty so I returned them. Then something weird happened: the Mgr came out to say the chef tasted them and he agreed they were salty...Odd. I ordered a spinach calimari salad to replace them. Again it took so long that I had them pack it to go. Again they apologized for the delay. Maybe fix what is wrong instead of apologizing so much. Hello- This was my first time here. Food was amazing!!! Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. I got the Buffalo wings for an appetizer and they were pretty spicy in a good way, especially with New York style original Buffalo wings dude! Plus the drumsticks had tons of meat at the top of them. Meat was amazing! Sauce was amazing! Blue cheese was amazing! I would definitely give this place five stars! We also tried the eggplant fries which were crispy, light and delicious. We got the calamari salad and calamari was nice and crispy! The salad was one of the tastiest salads I've had at a restaurant- I would get it again! I had the wedge salad with chicken add on. The lettuce was crisp, fresh and great tasting. The pancetta added a good flavor and the blue cheese dressing was excellent. I would definitely get it again. It really hit the spot. read more

Brick and Brew was one of our go-to spots pre-pandemic and before the re-opening because the drinks and food were consistently delicious and we loved the cozy atmosphere. We've only been a couple times post-pandemic and re-opening because the quality of food, drinks and service had suffered... UNTIL tonight! We decided to give it another go (with our infant this time around as new parents) and although we had a 30 minute wait at 5:30 (which was actually a good sign IMO) we enjoyed well-made cocktails and had excellent service (shout out to Michael) once we were seated. Burgers and cocktails were just what we were hoping for. My hope is that things are starting to return to the standard we expect from B&B. We will return to test it out again after our positive experience tonight. Things we miss: B&B's homemade ketchup. We also really miss the warm, cozy atmosphere. The stars aligned perfectly, allowing me the opportunity to finally check this restaurant out. It had been on my radar ever since I had heard they were taking over the Plum. They did a great job with the space. The pizza oven sits in the middle with the bar on one side and tables on the other. It's tight, even at lunch. I grabbed a seat at the bar and the bartender looked at my Old Rip Van Winkle baseball cap and mentioned they had 10 and 35 year old Pappy Van Winkle available to pour. Are you kidding me? This bar has the holy grail of bourbon in stock and ready to pour? Oh my higher power! Then, I looked up and realized I had stumbled upon one of the finest selections of bourbon I've ever laid my eyes on. Best in the burbs hands down. There had to be close to 80 choices of the magic brown elixir - bourbon whiskey - the true American spirit. Prices as expected were steep on the pappy. The 10 year was $38 an ounce and the 25 was $85. I had no choice but to try the 10 year - served neat with rocks on the side. It was good but...I felt like a virgin on their wedding night...for this I waited all these years? The Buffalo Trace bourbon cartel (Pappy is one of their many brands) sells a full bottle of Weller at the same price as a 10 year one ounce pour and it tastes better. I've been told that is the way to go by fellow bourbon aficionados. The bartender suggested the short rib grilled cheese which I ordered. Big mistake. The cheese was obviously not sliced but shredded and it was a mess. Very underwhelming as not all the cheese had melted. The onions were out of place. The short rib was tasty but it didn't work for me. Sandwich was accompanied by a huge amount of French fries. Their house made ketchup was interesting but I prefer Heinz. Service was adequate.
