My family threw me the most incredible 30th birthday party here and we had the best time! The event space was huge with it's own bar. We had about 60 people and the set up was perfect. The vendors we hired all were fantastic and Towne House was great with providing suggestions. The cocktails and food were great and everyone loved the venue. Only negative was that we definitely could have used an event planner with us that night. The servers were young and there were some things missing (like sauce for the chicken tenders) that we asked for a few times and didn't get. I was at The Towne House Saturday night 8/1. My brother, his friend and I had a good experience in the bar up until my brother had a medical episode where he passed out on the floor. He did not appear drunk, just passed out. One of the bouncers immediately came up, declared him drunk and told us to leave without asking if he's ok or any of that. I told him to give us a second and he came off very angry and rude and told me to not speak like that to him. Once we got him up, we left the bar and I was furious at the bouncer and the place for the way they acted to the situation. Someone else came out and acted very rude as well but I don't know who it was or if it was staff or manager or what. They need to better their staff on situations like this. Immediately kicking us out when he's still sitting on the ground does not help any situation. read more

This is for IdleWild specifically. I have no problem paying for a good cocktail, but IdleWild is running a scam. $16 for a mojito that did not have a single mint leaf in it. It was a blue green color (I'm guessing for whatever they used for the mint flavor) and we legitimately had to ask if it was actually a mojito when they served it. This place is great for drinks. On the weekends the have a DJ. They have a bunch of different areas to eat and drink. The place is big. When it's warm out, they have one of the nicest outdoor areas in downtown media. The espresso martinis are my favorite here! The food is good. The only negative is sometimes I've walked in here and no one is at the front or certain areas of the resturants aren't open but the doors are open so you walk in a wonder trying to figure out where to go to get sitted for a few mins. But that's usually if you are there earlier (we have a little one so we sometimes are eating dinner pretty early). read more

Had a mid day reservation for the patio area apparently called "idlewild". Did not get any service within 10 minutes so we walked up to the outdoor bar just a few steps away to order a round of drinks, only then were we approached and told that we have a server. I said no one greeted us so we will be getting this round at the bar. The rest of our party came and ordered their first round of drinks with Cameron and we were told the frozen pina coladas and more than half of the cocktail menu in front of us "is not available at the outdoor bar". 15 minutes later we saw another patron get served a frozen pina colada. Ordered chicken fingers, cheesesteak egg rolls, and mozzarella sticks. They opened 3 hours before and were out of mozzarella sticks. The other apps were abysmal portions, greasy, and expensive. We to stay a while on a beautiful sunny day but between half the menu unavailable, and management constantly pacing and caught staring at our party several times, we left after the first round. I hope TH stops trying to be 3 completely separate bars all 20 feet apart from each other, it has become super unenjoyable! read more

We just recently went here and keep in mind, we had reservations in the Christmas room where the ENTIRE room was decorated for christmas. But when we got there, the workers had an attitude towards us and said they overbooked and couldn't put us in the Christmas room which we PAID for. We ended up getting a table on the other side of the building and the tables were so close to each other, I couldn't even pull my chair out without hitting another chair. The water they served us was a bit foggy and my pepsi only tasted like the syrup and the food was mid. I got a salad but it was ok. I dropped my napkin on the floor and when I went to pick it up, I realized the floor was dirtier than a public restroom. After my salad I ordered an ice cream and the ice cream took more than 5 minutes to get to us. And by the way, there wasn't a lot of people. I wouldn't go here again and SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! read more

After much consideration regarding our favorite local dining spots, we chose The Towne House for my husband's retirement dinner. While we have fond memories of the restaurant from decades ago, this was our first visit since the reopening. I coordinated specifically with their event reservations team (who couldn't be more accommodating) to request an isolated area. I explained that we were a party of 12, including three children, and we wanted to ensure we could enjoy our family time without infringing on other guests. Unfortunately, we were seated in a corner of a large, loud room, which was exactly the environment we were trying to avoid. Had I known this would be the arrangement, we would have chosen a different venue. At one point, even though we were behind a half wall there were so many people in the room that they flowed into our space including past that barrier rope they had put up to isolate us. The service and food also left room for improvement. While our waiter was very accommodating, we arrived to find a pile of menus at the end of the table and were never informed of the evening's specials. Had we known, my husband and I would have ordered the surf and turf; instead, he ordered a New York strip that lacked seasoning. I ordered the prime rib rare but received an overcooked portion that appeared to have been sitting under a heat warmer for some time. I have spent 40 years in customer service, so I believe providing honest feedback is essential for maintaining a high-quality experience. While my husband enjoyed being with family, he was ultimately disappointed in the choice of restaurant for such a special occasion. My husband, who normally would just chalk things up as a learning, was so compelled by the poor experience that he stopped into the restaurant to share his feedback personally. The person he spoke to (he thinks it was a manager) said that the owner was not in that day but would be in on another day so my Husband stopped back but when he asked to speak to the owner. The manager went somewhere in the back and then came out and advised the owner said there was nothing that could be done. I was a bit astonished that the owner wouldn't even come out and talk to someone who had spent close to $1000 on a meal at their establishment. Based on this experience, I unfortunately cannot recommend The Towne House to others at this time. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. I don't even know where to start with this disaster of a restaurant. The moment I walked in, it was obvious the place was being run by management that has completely given up. The manager spent most of the night wandering aimlessly in the back to only come out smelling like she'd been drinking more than the customers. And as if the human chaos wasn't enough, halfway through my meal a mouse sprinted across the dining room floor like it was late for a reservation. It's hard to enjoy anything when you're wondering how many rodents are hiding in the kitchen. To make everything even more insulting, the drinks were shockingly overpriced for a place that can barely keep its lights on, let alone its management sober. Paying premium cocktail prices in what feels like a rodent playground is beyond ridiculous. To top it all off, I later learned the place recently failed a health inspection, which honestly explains everything. I thought I was going to a restaurant but ended up at a zoo. I couldn't understand how you can mess up things like cheesesteak egg rolls (wet cat food), but then you really outdid yourself by messing up chips and salsa! Food review only; for takeout. The short rib is delicious. I've had it at least 8 times now and it's only been dry/off once. Potatoes, sauce, carrots are always delicious. Staff is usually pleasant and on time. We tip for thanks for doing the takeout and go on our way. Be careful that what is discussed with Shane Diggen is reflected in your bill (that is generated from the start of planning an event)! This was a brunch for 32 people and we had asked as one of our first questions in deciding on the venue whether we were required to take the $25 pp bottomless mimosas package. That was an additional $800 in addition to the food cost. We had agreed verbally to do a consumption bar and pay per drink including a specialty cocktail that was $12 each. Our bill ended up including $270 consumption bar plus $800. There was no way guests drank $800 mimosas or belinis. There was not a room rental like many other venues we looked at but other venue rentals were not $1000. If we had know this we would have booked elsewhere. We contested the bill with no acknowledgment of our original arrangement. read more

We had a "Cousins Luncheon" on Saturday at The Towne House. I hadn't been to the restaurant for over forty years and was curous to see it, again. What I remembered was the wonderful Italian menu and I looked forward to a lasagna entree. Instead, I realized that the restaurant was under new management and the lunch menu had very little in common with the restaurant's history. I ordered the Chicken Caprese which was tasteless. The "house wine" was $14/glass. The renovations are lovely. Our waitress was wonderful. The food was terrible, and the pricing was quite above the expected. I think they should have changed the name when they assumed the property because it doesn't reflect the old Towne House at all. read more

THIS REVIEW IS FOR IDLEWILD within the Townhouse dining "complex". The new and re-vamped Townehouse is now 3 "dining experiences" in one. This review is for Idle wild - the outdoor bar and dining spot. You can also dine at the main "Townhouse" or in the Irish Pub (The Shebeen/Speakeasy - which (thankfully) preserved the original bar from the historic Old Town House. (They also preserved alot of the old black and white pictures and history from the original restaurant. We showed up on a Summer Saturday and they were serving only brunch. My gluten free/dairy free friend got a Wedge (romaine not iceberg) salad which she loved and it looked terrific. ($13 - or add chicken, shrimp or steak for an up charge). I splurged and got the special - a lobster roll - served on a delicious brioche long roll (toasted and medium-ly buttered - perfect!) but for $24 there wasn't a whole lot of lobster - and I get it, lobster is pricey. The drink menu all sounded wonderful - so I would definitely come back here to try the "Adult Capri Sun" or the Bellini's. Very upscale vibe and prices to match. We lucked out and came when it was not crowded and Elena, our server, was excellent. Sad to see so many bad reviews - but maybe that was for the "true" Townhouse part? read more

So I went there for an event and I was overwhelmed by the help that I received from a manager named ,Nicole. She was very nice and went above and beyond to make it one of the best experiences that I've had in a while. Also, she seemed to be very involved with the what was going on in the restaurant. I saw her making drinks, clearing tables and doing whatever it took to make things run smoothly. She is hands on and not like what you usually see in a lot of restaurants. I've works in the business so I know the nuances of what it takes to keep the things running smoothly. I will definitely be going back in the future because of the fantastic experience that I had. I came here for birthday brunch with my grandma and we had a great waitress I believe her name was ruby who was very on top of everything and our food was really good! Grandma had the monte cristo and I ordered the avocado toast, both were fresh and tasty. They have cute decor and we sat outside in august, as it got warmer and sunnier they brought us an umbrella. They have a mimosa/Bellini special on weekends for $25 you get a bottle of le Marca Prosecco and 2 Juices to mix in. We got peach and mango and they were both really good. Was there tonight in a party of 9, with reservations made a month ago. It was 45 minutes before my water glass was filled, it was 70 minutes before most of us got drinks. One in our party did not get her first drink until 90 minutes in. This was after we got up twice and asked the server and bartender if we could please get drinks. If they make money on serving alcohol, they sure don't act like it. We were here for a good time and they left money on the table. The food was good, but good food is available all over Media, PA.
