The martini was nicely presented with a pimento olive garnish, while the French 75 and the mule we also tried came without one. Both tasted good, but adding a simple garnish would have elevated the presentation and given the cocktails a more finished feel. Then we asked for a recommendation and tried the Spicy Watermelon Margarita. This was easily our favorite cocktail of the night; fresh and incredibly refreshing upfront, with a spicy kick that develops on the finish without overpowering the watermelon. We started our food with the mussels and potato fennel soup. I really enjoyed the mussels because the broth was lighter rather than overly rich or buttery, allowing the mussels themselves to stand out. Definitely add the garlic bread for soaking up the broth and save some for the lasagna! The potato fennel soup was smooth and comforting, although the fennel flavor was quite pronounced, so it's best suited for someone who really enjoys fennel. The biggest surprise was the seasonal watermelon feta, which ended up being our favorite dish of the night. The portion was generous for sharing, with thick cuts of cold, juicy watermelon paired with salty feta, fresh herbs and a balsamic-style reduction. The balance of sweet, salty and acidic flavors worked incredibly well. Simple in concept, but memorable in execution. I would return for this dish alone while it's in season. For entrées, we shared the lasagna and halibut. The lasagna was my preference--rich, cheesy, saucy and comforting, especially with the remaining garlic bread for dipping. The halibut was fresh, nicely cooked and paired with fresh vegetables and pesto, although fennel was again a fairly dominant flavor. Personally, I would have preferred it as more of a background note. The hospitality deserves just as much recognition as the food. The husband-and-wife duo appeared to be handling the entire front of house, from welcoming guests to turning tables and checking on diners. Despite juggling so much, they remained warm, attentive and never made the experience feel rushed. Overall, a thoughtful meal with some fresh, genuinely memorable standouts. The watermelon feta, Spicy Watermelon Margarita, mussels with garlic bread, and lasagna would be my must-orders.

The person sitting beside me said that his steak was too salty but they use coarse salt so when you but into the steak, you can get a burst of salt whenever you bite. Catch of the day was Halibut. Nothing special with the filet they served at all. Also, for a birthday on a reservation, you would think they would surprise you with a small dessert as a nice gesture but no, they asked if you wanted dessert to purchase. What frustrated me most wasn't the inconvenience itself -- it's that management and the host offered absolutely no warning that this would be happening and nothing in return. The bartending staff is great. The ambience is ok. Last night was a complete different experience. The cooking staff was late. The bartender was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Management seemed more interested in themselves than actually managing. Here's why I feel this way: we went during happy hour (daily 3-6pm) and ordered wine and an appetizer off the happy hour menu as we pointed to them from the happy hour menu. When the food arrived, the portion was noticeably larger than what happy hour typically offers, no one mentioned we'd been given the entree size. We were charged FULL pricing, NOT happy hour pricing. As we waited for our bill, we overheard other patrons having the same conversation about their bill. That's when it clicked. Instead of ordering the happy hour portions-they are substituting the entree portions and forcing people to pay it. What should have been a sub-$100 bill for drinks and an app cost us over $200. If we'd known that, we would have ordered from the dinner menu and at least gotten what we paid for. LET'STALK ABOUT THE FOOD: The food quality is subpar. In our minds we were thinking it's happy hour. Expected. Until we realized we were charged $50 for a filet was more like a sirloin and not worth the money. $30 for Milanese that was so hard I could not cut it with a steak knife. Not sure what happened to this place but it's going downhill. Our go to place is now a no go place. Won't be returning.
